Reviews for Stadt-gut-Hotel Gasthof Goldener Adler
Review 1:A beautiful historic building right in the main marketplace of this quaint town. Our room looked over the roof tops and was nicely updated and decorated. The beds were very comfortable. Breakfast was outstanding.
Review 2:As well as a convenient and picturesque location, we had a spacious and very comfortable room and the best breakfast to date in Germany. Loved that home made bircher muesli and fruit salad.
Review 3:Not easy to find, and parking precarious unless you're luck enough to get one of the few reserved places.
Review 4:Magnificent position with a superb view from the rooms at the front. Particularly good service in the restaurant for dinner.
Review 5:Don't get upset by the church bells or the market it's part of life if you stay in the town centre .

Review 8:The room was big and the bed was really comfortable. The staff went out of their way to be helpful. There was an ample and interesting collection of items to chose for the buffet breakfast.
Review 9:They lost my reservation and gave me a different room than what i had booked. Luckily they found the reservation my last day and gave me thediscounted rate.
Review 10:The location was supreme. The rooms were comfortable and clean. Amazing breakfast; plus the free oranges and water in the room were greatly appreciated.
Review 11:Rooms are perhaps a little bit worn and need a bit of modernizing. Other than that I was well pleased.
Review 12:Location is fantastic; right on the market square by the church steps. Breakfast was - hands down - the best hotel breakfast I have ever had anywhere (and I spend 130 days a year in hotels). Staff is very kind, as I have come to expect in South Germany.
Review 13:Having to leave!
Review 14:Location:parking:prIce:people;just everything. Wish we had more time here. Excellent facility with loads of character. Great dinner and breakfast restaurant!
Review 15:Bedrooms clean and spacious but dated with regards decor. Very slippery exit to shower. Restaurant food poor.
Review 16:Location - great old hotel right on the main square. Common parts of hotel interesting and full of character.
Review 17:No AC - however many of German hotels do not have them- so nothing specific to this one. No elevator, however they were happy to bring it up to the room. Over all excellent service.
Review 18:Everything
Review 19:Used it as an overnight stopover which was ruined by a concert that was performed on the church steps. The square was sealed off,we weren't allowed to go out of the front of the hotel because we didn't have tickets and we struggled to get a meal because everywhere was full before the concert and shut while it was on,and it didn't finish till 22.45hrs.Completely spoilt what should have been a pleasant evening.Would not use it again.
Review 20:Should have been a great location in the medieval centre of the town.Strange having the bed in the centre of the room, don't understand why.
Review 21:Liked everything
Review 22:Wonderful room, great location, friendly staff, fabulous breakfast. What an amazing hotel. We were lucky enough to get a room with a carved ceiling. This location was great as it didn't seem very touristy but was such a gem. Highly recommended!

Review 45:Nothing!
Review 46:The situation and the nice room we had with a view of the Cathedral. We could park our car by the Hotel too. We enjoyed eating on he terrace too.
Review 47:This historic hotel is located in the church square at the top of the hill, with idyllic achitectural views. It was a simple 8 minute walk, uphill from the train station to the hotel, and so easy to find. The friendly staff were very kind and accommodating, and patient with my rusty German. The meals were superb in the elegant dining room. I also appreciated the decor of painted walls and celings and stained glass windows. While the hotel has an ancient history, the in-room facilities felt new. Remember to ask for the WLAN code--("vee-lan" wi-fi in room). The town is welcoming and lovely, a comfortable 1.5 hour train ride from Stuttgart. I loved everything about my stay and hope to return again soon. Vielen dank fur alles.
Review 48:Gorgeous hotel, gorgeous town -- loved the character of the hotel! Very updated and clean bathroom. Large room. Wonderful breakfast. We enjoyed every minute of our stay. We happened to stay during the Christmas market and we were a mere step away from the market square and there was even Gluhwein available in the entry way of the hotel. Lovely!
Review 49:Try avoid getting a backside room (no view). The hotel is excellent but not cheap.
Review 50:Fantastic location right at the famous "stairs", the place is a superb historic building, staff very friendly, good restaurant. We loved our stay here !!
Review 51:We had some parking problems. However, there were in-door parking facilities near by.
Review 52:Super location right on the market place in a charming little town. Also a good starting point for exploring surrounding cities. Excellent hotel restaurant, lots of atmosfere all around. Really a place to recommend
Review 53:The building itself is few hundred years old, but rooms are brand new (2011?), restaurant is spotless. Staff is very helpful and efficient. Cannot beat the location! Highly recommended!
Review 54:Market day starts early 5am! With a room overlooking the square, it's hard to keep asleep while the vendors are setting up. Also couldn't find many open restaurants on a SATURDAY night.
Review 55:We had a lovely room overlooking the main market place. The room was oversized and the breakfast was excellent.
Review 56:We attended a wedding in the Rathaus which did not finish until1300. We checked out at 1100 as required but were only offered the facilities of the toilets to change our clothing to continue our journey. It would have been so helpful if we could have been provided with a small room in which to change.
Review 57:A great welcome and very helpful staff as we arrived later than planned. Dinner and breakfast served by friendly staff who spoke excellent English.
Review 58:Charming little town and hotel. Restaurant was excellent...with a very helpful waiter! We loved the historic building with modern conveniences. Woke up to find a village market going on in the square outside our window. Stayed here the night before a Porsche factory tour...about an hour outside of Stuttgart.
Review 59:Some difficult with the restaurant because of the menu was in German language only.
Review 60:Great location directly in the dome plaza. Ancient rustic "style" but very comfortable.
Review 61:room at an innercourt and therefore dark and there was no airco while the outside temperature was 32 degrees
Review 62:good breakfast, superb location, big room, comfortable, fruits as a gift
Review 63:The only issue was, due to it's close proximity to the church, the church bells rang loudly in the morning. But the hotel generously provides ear plugs for this.
Review 64:Location was great. The room was large, comfy bed and great view of the church and square.
Review 65:No mini bar in the room, when we wanted to have some drinks to watch the final match of Champion's league in the room. But it is not a big problem at all. We went out to a bar with a big screen tv, instead, in 100m from the hotel.
Review 66:Location. The building.
Review 67:No lifts hard with lots of luggage. Also parking could be a problem inpeak season you might have to park away from the hotel as there are nodesignated hotel spots just first come basis.
Review 68:The staff were really friendly, helpful, and very professional. Eventhough I had changed my reservation date on booking.com and gottenconfirmation that the change had gone through ok the hotel had noknowledge of the change which could have caused us major problems. However they luckily had rooms available and took very little time tosort out the problem. The inn unfortunately being such an old inn has nolift but the staff helped us with our luggage. The inn building datesback to 1500 and has a lovely old world feel and nice atmosphere. Therewere some small Xmas markets in the square when we were there. Therestaurant was really nice with good food and the waitress went out ofher way to help us as the menu wasn't in english she was a lovelyperson. Also when we checked out the charge was about 50 euro more thanthe hotels.com quote but this was rectified without problem. The settingof the inn in the very old town square is incredibly lovely especiallywith a light dusting of snow very picture postcard stuff.
Review 69:It was on the Marktplatz in the center of the old town. Every where was walkable. Parking was close by. The town information center was next door.
Review 70:No fridge in room.
Review 71:Location is so good, this hotel is facing central square and church. Town itself is also nice,as my friend recommended.
Review 72:It was more of inconvenience not to have an elevator.
Review 73:We liked the location of the hotel. We also liked location of our room, facing the main square.
Review 74:Warmest hospitality! Comfortable just like my second home!
Review 75:We were there for the Christmas Markets. Location was perfect.
Review 76:No minibar in the room
Review 77:Everything was nice
Review 78:Bedroom was alittle out of date, but bed comfortable.
Review 79:the location was great to visit the town, large bathroom, large room, breakfast good
Review 80:Friendly staff, great rooms, fantastic location
Review 81:the hotel has an excellent location in the main square. We also had dinner and enjoyed it.
Review 82:Close main door in the evening.
Review 83:Central location in SHWABISH HALL. Comfortable room. New bath and toilet equipment.
Review 84:Modern hotel that maintained its old-fashioned ambiance without sacrificing comfort.
Review 85:The bells...
Review 86:Good location (although church bells could keep people awake at night). Good breakfast and attentive staff
Review 87:No air conditioning
Review 88:The staff was very helpful
Review 89:Its location in the centre of Schwäbisch Hall, the romantic atmosphereof this medieval building
