Reviews for VH - Gran Ventana Beach Resort
Review 1:The staff the bad treatment and they only care about money it was bad from beginning and the water pool was cool the shows end early like at 11 , they don't have discotec and the cacino was close ,the view was poor,
Review 2:The food was good
Review 3:constant vendors on the beach, alcohol that was included in deal was awful, noise level at pool when some hotel activity was going on.
Review 4:Excellent food, great rooms, nice beach and pool
Review 5:How I was told to report to front desk for important issue and there was a signed and notified document telling me because of restaurant construction you wanted me to agree to come back and give up my passport information to agree to this. Very misleading and it needs to stop
Review 6:The staff and cleanliness
Review 7:I wish I would have know that they were renovating before I booked , it was always a lot of noise and I need a room with two beds and all they gave me was a wheely sandwich bed that was very uncomfortable, I asked the staff to switch room and they just did not help
Review 8:The pool was very nice, certain staff were very nice and helpful and security was around all the time
Review 9:The service wasn't good. The wait staff wasn't helpful
Review 10:The facilities were good. It was nice to be on the beach and the room was newly renovated and big
Review 11:We had a couple of misunderstandings over the phone before we came but once we arrived the staff was more than willing to make things right and better answer our questions.
Review 12:This turned out much better than what we were expecting. The rooms were very nice, the food was great and the staff was very accommodating. There were lots of fun activities. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Review 13:I didn't like that the hotel didn't have it's own club. It seemed like the surrounding hotels all shared the same club. Also, some of the drinks get watered down a bit too much.
Review 14:I enjoyed the activities at the resort as well as the attention of staff.
Review 15:No internet service in the room an the free internet service (wifi) very slow.I believe that wifi is not a luxury in the 21 century.
Review 16:The employees at the hotel were very nice and helpful. The beach was relaxing and the location that we stayed at was beautiful and magnificent. The food was delicious and overall, we had a great time !
Review 17:What needs to improve is the pool schedule. Please close the bar by 6 p.m. Instead of the pool. Leave the pool open for couples and families who want to enjoy the quietness of the night, beautiful sky, cool and breezy nights. That certainly will give a more positive experience of your resort.
Review 18:What we liked the most about this place, was the resort, location, ambiance, and excellent food!!!!
Review 19:The buffet gets boring after 3 days, its the same food. Yummy but repetitive.
Review 20:Love the place, its our 6th visit! People are lovely, grounds are lovely.
Review 21:The cab ride there was a continuous game of chicken. Almost got in 25 head on collisions. The drivers in DR are just ridiculous. The non-emissions cars/trucks = massive headache. We came to relax on the beach. We ended up spending just 1 hour there. The vendors constantly try to sell you stuff and there is NO way to relax there. We left and went back to the pool let down. Breakfast needs serious improvement. I'm a bit of a health snob yet I found myself eating donuts every day because they are the only thing palatable. The free wifi is in only one public area, and it's very slow. If you want it in your room, it's $10 a day, we bought it once and the speed wasn't worth it (also slow). (We racked up $100 in data charges from at&t before we even realized it from apps running in the background (mail, fb, etc)... be sure to turn off your mobile data before your flight takes off.) Our toilet didn't flush well. the towel exchange program was weird... we didn't partake. The room safe is extra fee. We didn't use it, just locked our suitcase instead and didn't have any theft issues. Staff seems pretty honest. Lots of bug bites. We brought off Deep Woods and it just doesn't work. The entertainment area at night ate us alive.
Review 22:Lunch and dinner were exceptional. Nice varieties of food and very tasty. Passed wine, attentive staff. We drank the tap water without issues. The entertainment crew was great keeping all the guests active with things to do, dance, learn Spanish, compete in pool games We ventured into Puerto Plata a couple times with a tour guide (3 hrs = $40 + tip). While a bit expensive, having a local/translator help us out in town was great. Be prepared for them to bring you to their friend's shops/etc to try to get you to buy stuff in between the city's history stops. The pool/pool bar was the hot spot. We met a lot of other nice couples there, played a lot of volleyball in the pool, and relaxed there the most.
Review 23:It was a great experience. I definitely will go back. The staff is off the chain. Kerin the supervisor in charge at the front desk is excellent. Thank u! Yall need to promote him is a very valuable employee. Food is pretty good. Rooms are clean and comfortable. The pools are Clean. Everything is nicee. Very good very food...
Review 24:None.
Review 25:Everyone was nice and they made you feel comfortable. The food was delicious and the service was great. Entertainment was fun and it was very clean.
Review 26:Staff: Very mixed results. Some staff was super friendly and went out of their way to ensure we were happy and had everything to make our stay enjoyable, while others acted like they couldn’t be bothered. I would like to see management create a consistent experience across all of their staff. Food: The food was terrible. Although it’s all-inclusive, we found the food to be inedible. The breakfast offered an omelet station your choice of green peppers, tomatoes, cheese, ham and corn or fried eggs and those were good. They also have a smoothie bar and if you ask for the “smoothie especial” they’ll give you an amazing creation by one of the staff. For lunch we ate salad with olives and chickpeas. The beef is extremely tough and fatty and the pasta was rubbery. We had dinner at the Italian restaurant on the grounds of the hotel and the meal was just as bad (the meal was included in the all-inclusive package).
Review 27:Location: Within 15 – 20 minutes of the airport. Near 2 other hotels and a golf course, 2 mini malls with a restaurant and a few shops. Room: We stayed in the Catalina building in room 2203 and it was great and very clean. They provided a hair dryer, shampoo / conditioner, shower cap, soap, etc. and the bathroom was spotless. There was a closet with shelves in the front and there was also a balcony overlooking the pool. The bed was very comfortable and there was a flatscreen TV and a desk. There was also air conditioning which made the experience very comfortable. Room Tip: Stay in the Catalina building overlooking the pool
Review 28:I went with a group of girls and the only thing I did not enjoy was that the bar closed by midnight.
Review 29:What I liked from this resort was that staff was very friendly the food was great. Very relaxing beach was clean and close. Very professional place and peaceful.
Review 30:the pool was more for kids. But ok. We are here for the ocean so it did not bother me much. Overall. No complaints at all. Maybe the customer who smokes should stay in the same building.
Review 31:Love the vibe, the community feel. The different age groups. The entertainments! The activities. Btw, Bonjovie was the best at leading the water aerobic class in the ocean. Love it!!! More of that!!! We had a amazing time. Will be back with our family one day. Keep up the good works!!!!
Review 32:Delicious food and drinks. Comfortable rooms. Friendly staff and hotel guests. Was sad to leave and would gladly return.
Review 33:Staff was rude- the activities and shows pretty much sucked- and it felt like we were in a senior citizens home
Review 34:The hotel was nice looking
Review 35:Main pool closed too early
Review 36:All inclusive
Review 37:The staff was accommodating
Review 38:Security there was over zealous in their attempts to check you to see if you were supposed to be there.

Review 47:Not much nitelife beach a bit rough
Review 48:All was well resort nice staff friendly food great
Review 49:Food
Review 50:Air conditioning and refrigerator were lack of manteinance. The a/c only worked well at high. The Food was ok to be a all inclusive, but they can improve on the desserts!. At the bars the "best" rum they have is Brugal Carta Dorada... come on, you can offer also another good Dominican rum!!!
Review 51:Beach, Pool and the employees were always available to serve you! Happy people.
Review 52:The room was old and outright dirty. The shower curtain was disgusting with visiable dirt stains. Based on that alone the roomshould not have been rented out.
Review 53:The location and beach were very nice.
Review 54:People put their towels on all the chairs and seats early in morning and they stay there all day even when not used. Watched some people put towels on more than one chair and never use that chair. Hard to get seats as most all are covered with towels before I get up in morning.
Review 55:Restaurant buffet was outside---Very hot in the summer months and cold during winter months. Wifi in lobby area only
Review 56:beach was beautiful---kid and family friendly
Review 57:On check-in I was told that the nightly price was $11.00 US more each night and that "the paper is wrong" or in other words the cost of the room was $11.00 more than the contracted and stated cost including taxes and fees that was printed out online when. This did not make for a great beginning of a stay.
Review 58:Friendly, helpful staff. Good facilities and decent food in the everyday dining room. The place was restful and decent.
Review 59:Staff would not extend out requested stay for an extra night at same price !
Review 60:Bartenders , food, entertainment , pool and beach !
