Reviews for Albergue Oncineda

Review 1:The hill to get there! Ouch! Wifi didn't work on the upper floors, just the ground floor. Our room was right next to the bathrooms - this was quite loud at times, however, as always, most pilgrims were in bed by 10.30 so only a minor disturbance.

Review 2:Very friendly, helpful staff. Large albergue, spotlessly clean. Comfortable beds, individual rooms. Good pilgrim menu, excellent value for money.

Review 3:Feels like an abandoned mental asylum; I felt like I didn't sleep a wink and I had to keep the light on as no one else was in my dorm (usually a lucky thing, but here it's quite terrifying). Probably fine if you're in a group. Would advise pilgrims to keep in mind it's not in middle of town but will give them head start in the morning.

Review 4:Staff were great

Review 5:The room .. I booked a single . I expected more and got considerably less .. There was no ensuite . It was shared bathroom facilities and there were just blankets and sheets make your own 'bunk'

Review 6:The breakfast

Review 7:Way too basic for the price! Noisy as hell. Impossible to get decent nights sleep with banging doors and noise on corridors into early hours and again before sunrise! No soundproofing in rooms or corridors! Nightmare accommodation. Would hate to see what it's like with a gang of kids or teenagers staying. Should have booked a hotel for €10 more!!

Review 8:Not a lot!

Review 9:The WiFi was free but it wasn't great.

Review 10:This is just off the Camino on the far side of town (so you have a head start in the morning). The staff were great, very helpful and friendly. The rooms are basic but spacious and clean. Excellent bathroom facilities, vending machines and the dinner was really excellent.

Review 11:The bedroom was a bit dull. Could be painted and a few pictures put on the walls

Review 12:Very friendly and helpful reception staff. Good breakfast. Near town centre and Camino route

Review 13:The rooms are comfortable but utalitarian. The afternoon staff at the front desk were very professional but overworked in that the one staff member had to man the busy front desk and the bar (situated about 30m apart). There should be two staff on duty from 4pm onwards.

Review 14:The evening meal was exceptional. It was held in a communal dining room but there was ample seating and very nice food. The breakfast was exceptional with awesome coffee and food. A great start to walking the Camino.

Review 15:A bit spartan in an old hospital way ,lots of room but nothing to sit on except ones bed . Food plain but wholesome .

Review 16:Welcoming and helpful staff , All was clean and hygeinic ,both room and bathroom areas .

Review 17:Booked only room with private bathroom. Water was cold so had to shower in communal. Overpriced.

Review 18:staff were very nice and helpful.

Review 30:This is a beautiful hostel with a above average breakfast. All the staff were excellent. Would definitely recommend this.

Review 31:No air con or fan so it was hot.

Review 32:It was close to the camino walk. It seemed to be quite reasonable in price

Review 33:Room being next to the gents toilets very noisy every time toilet flushed!

Review 34:Excellent and helpful staff.

Review 35:A little bit of a climb at the end of the day of hiking.

Review 36:Not fancy but a lot of hot water and very clean.

Review 37:After walking the Camino all day I had to walk right through the town which was gorgeous but tiredness prevailed my enjoyment. When eventually finding the the hostel I could have cried when I saw it was at the top of a hill.

Review 38:Was lucky enough to have a 4 bed dorm to myself. Quiet and private after a long days walk.

Review 39:It is difficult to find when you first arrive in town. It is, however, close to the Camino for the next day's walking. The plumbing is quite noisy.

Review 40:We stayed in this albergue for one night on the Camino de Santiago. We booked a private twin room with bathroom & although it was basic, it was very clean & there was plenty of hot water. We did not use any other facilities in the hostel.

Review 41:When you book a room you get a 5 bed dormitory, to yourself. There are plenty mosquitos, be prepared.

Review 42:Friendly Staff Reception is open until 22:00 not 12:00-16:00 as currently on booking.com

Review 43:The climb up the hill to albergue Oncineda was difficult after our long walk from Puenta de la Rina on our only hot day of the Camino - nothing to do with the quality of the accommodation!!

Review 44:The Staff were so helpful and friendly, which we really appreciated after walking all day on the Camino de Santiago. The food was great value (Pilgrims Menu) and wholesome. The girl on reception was the most helpful person we met on our leg of the walk. While the accommodation is basic, I would definitely recommend this hostel to others doing the pilgrim walk

Review 45:No compliants

Review 46:We were greeted like long lost family by Manager Josef who could not do enough to welcome or help us during our stay. Had private room with en-suite, lovely size with crisp clean linen on beds. This is a large hostel but the management make it feel like a home. Josef printed maps for us and left us to bus next day as we were leaving...now that's worth remembering. Thankyou:)

Review 47:We had double room but the washing and toilet room next door was very noisy.

Review 48:Nice staff. The dinner and breakfast had both value and tasted god.
