Reviews for Landgasthof Zur Post

Review 1:Upon arrival no one was there to check us in. Keys left on reception table with only a letter addressed to us. Rooms heater turned off when lights turned off. Very cold night.

Review 2:Friendly staff. Good continental breakfast. Superb view of the castle and the mountains.

Review 3:We had a balcony view of the mountains and Neuschwanstein Castle. The location was excellent within walking distance of area restaurants and sites. Quaint town with the charm of southern Germany.

Review 4:Hotel located adjacent to main thoroughfare in Schwangau, resulting in quite loud traffic noise. Very poor sound-proofing between rooms. No air-conditioning, causing the room to become quite stuffy on hot days. No kettle or tea/coffee in room.

Review 5:Spacious room with couch. Balcony with a stunning view. Lovely continental breakfast. Friendly, helpful staff. Bus stops nearby.

Review 6:We loved the location and views over the local attractions. The staff local knowledge and friendliness was excellent and the attractions were easily reached on foot.

Review 7:The wifi wasn't that great. It was the only place during our two week trip that we had to pay for it. The one-day coverage we purchased only lasted until 6 am the next morning....not even 24 hours.

Review 8:Great location for visiting castles. The free breakfast was good and had a lot of selection.

Review 9:The staff are very helpful and friendly. The hotel is well located for all amenities in the area including transport to Fussen. The lady at reception also provided us with guest cards which provided free local bus and train journeys.

Review 10:nothing.

Review 11:Good stay, discount card offered for transport visit the castle and termae swimmingpool (Cristal termae) Spacoius and very confortable room (junior suite). Very kind people in the staff , helpfull also if you don't speak german (spoken in english) . About eating , good food quality at breakfast , tipical german food , marmelade eggs , speck , cheese ; but also : koffee , milk , fruit juce , bread , butter , muesli and yogurt At dinner , nice location , tipical german stube , where you can choose tipical german dish . Very kind with children (suggested dish and small portion) offered lollypop and small toy as present at the end of the lunch. Free parking for car , just outside the door. Clean and confortable hotel , good tipical restaurant , helpfull and friendly staff. Positive experience

Review 12:Room was very fine. The location was easy to fine, on the main road in town. The staff was helpful, and gave good advice about getting tickets to the castles nearby. The breakfast as well as the dinners we ordered were very good.

Review 13:Wi-Fi not included! It is almost everywhere free, but not in this hotel. What a pity! Also there is no lift. For me it's not a problem but for the elderly it definately is.

Review 14:Friendly staff

Review 15:Our bed was noe good - you can feel that many, many people have slept here before. Didn't give us no good sleep. We were there in July when it's really hot outside and there was no water in the room when we arrived. Our kid was very thursty and we had to look for a shop nearby, which is not easy at 22.00. And no fridge in the room. Also breackfast was poor. We were traveling through Germany fo a week and here we got the weakest breackfast. I would not stay here one more time.

Review 16:The location is perfect, you can see the two famous castles out of your window and balcony was very fine. And it is very close distance, so you can reach the viewpoints by foot as well. The staff is very helpfull, they allowed to print out tickets at the check-in.

Review 17:There is no lift in the hotel, so bags and children have to be carried up several flights of stairs to reach them, not easy with one toddler. Required two trips up and down the stairs for our luggage and kids.

Review 18:Family rooms are on the top floor (3rd. floor) and are top class. Loads of room - and I mean a very large room - with a separate 'ensuite' single room for the eldest child. Friendliness of the staff is excellent - they couldn't have been nicer. Food in the hotel restaurant was good and was a very busy restaurant with mostly non-residents - always a good sign. The hotel is just 2 km from Neuswanstein castle, and the room had a beautiful view of the castle. It was perfect for us returning from Italy to catch a flight from Memmingen airport, just one hour away.

Review 19:Some kind of farm was right outside the hotel, on the opposite side of the road. The odor was substantial when we were sitting on the balcony. (No odor inside of the room though.)

Review 20:Good location; we received a room with a view over Neuschwanstein castle. Very clean. Good breakfast. The room keys were helpfully left outside the reception since we arrived late in the evening, after the reception's been closed.

Review 21:My only concern was that the traffic noise was very noticeable while in the room.

Review 22:Overall it was a good place. It was nice and clean, comfortable, and served good breakfasts. The hostess at check-in offered us so much information to make our visit complete.

Review 23:There were a few things that annoyed me about this hotel. First of all, there is no free wifi. In this day and age, I really find it ridiculous that a hotel does not offer free wifi and charges for it by the hour and by usage. I know they are not in a big city but I visited other hotels in the countryside that offered great free service. I decided to spend the 5 euro for the day that I spent there but what I didnt realize and what was not told to me was that there is also a usage limit. I purchased the day of wifi at 5pm, went out to dinner with my daughter, came back and by 11pm that night, my usage was up. When I brought it up to the owners, they offered to give back 2 euro but I asked for another hour instead. Another thing that put me off was the overall attitude of the owner. I was told in advance that the owners might be out when I arrived and that they would leave the key to the room at reception. Totally fine - I have no problem with that. When we arrived we found the key but then the owner appeared and had us fill out the normal forms, etc. When I started to ask him some questions about the area and renting bikes, he reacted as if I was putting him out. If I have no wifi to look up information, I am going to depend on the staff at the hotel to help me out. It would also be nice if they left maps for arriving guests if they are not going to be around. I asked him if we could bike to the castles nearby and he reacted as if that was impossible. Of course when we tried to drive to the castles we realized we would have enjoyed it more if we had just taken the bikes. I work with exchange students, many from Germany, and they constantly remind me that Germans are more direct than Americans and dont sugar coat things. I understand that, but I also understand the basic concept of customer service and leaving a good impression.

Review 24:It really is a very pretty setting and the town is nice and quiet, which is great given how close it is to the chaos of Neuschwanstein castle. The hotel is very nice and the breakfast was good. It really is in a perfect spot for biking the area and the scenery is beyond breathtaking. Just amazing natural beauty. Go swimming in the nearby lake!

Review 25:No bad experiences really. We did find generally throughout Germany that the pillows were not to our normal standard - too soft and flimsy.

Review 26:All good -

Review 27:Not having internet included considering the price was ridiculous. This was my 7th hotel in Europe this trip and the first without free wifi (it was also the most expensive). The "double bed" was actually 2 twin beds pushed together with a significant gap between the 2 mattresses. The rooms were a bit dated, but were generally clean at least.

Review 28:Basic toiletries provided (shampoo, soap) and everything you'd need. The breakfast was great and even afforded us the ability to make sandwiches for our hike up to the Neuschwanstein Castle. The location is great for visiting the castle, but the town it was in left a bit to be desired with minimal food options. Easy/free parking was a plus.

Review 29:Road Noise Restaurant closed Mondays - not stated on website

Review 30:Large room with balcony. Good meal in the restaurant, and good breakfast. Lovely views of Neuschwanstein Castle - only 5 minutes drive away.

Review 31:No elevator, limited parking, hotel restaurant closes early ( before 9 pm)

Review 32:The room had a very good size and all the amenities that we needed. The bathroom was modern. We loved having a view of Neuschwanstein from our room. Breakfast was good.

Review 33:We thought that the charge for Wifi, even though it was only €5.00 a day was unnecessary. We used the hotel in the streets behind there was no charge for wifi. So the €5.00 came off the meal cost

Review 34:We thought the location was great, breakfast really good

Review 35:A spacious room and a nice bathroom. Breakfast was good. Parking in the yard. Very beautiful surroundings! Two interesting castles nearby. Our room was above the very busy street and it bothered us. It would be different at the garden side.

Review 36:Room smelled of wood burning smoke since the windows had been left open in our room! Could hear noise from hallway in room but was quiet when time to go to bed.

Review 37:Convenient for visiting castles. Beds comfy! Reception person Antonia arranged to have breakfast set out early since several guests had to check out early.

Review 38:Unfriendliness of staff. We traveled all over Germany and this was the unhappiest place and so close to a gorgeous castle. It affected our stay.

Review 39:Breakfast was great.

Review 40:Wlan was extra charge, and did not work well in room. Rooms were onroad side of property, and were noisy (had to keep windows openbecause of heat).

Review 41:Good location close to Schloss Neuschwanstein. Good breakfast. Rooms ok.

Review 42:Self check in as the staff had taken the children exploring. The restaurant was closed with no notification that it was not going to open for evening meals. Didn't see any staff till breakfast and ever then it was a case of just doing my job.

Review 43:Brilliant décor, just what you would expect from a Bavarian Hotel.

Review 44:The staff of the Zur Post were wonderful. The food at their restaurant is great - my choice as the best in Schwangau. Rooms are comfortable with scenic views.

Review 45:Wi Fi was very slow and hard to get on, makes it frustrating when traveling a lot thru Europe needing travel info.

Review 46:Nice hotel from the out side look old but very nice through out

Review 47:I didn't necessarily love the bed. It was a little too firm for my taste but that wouldn't deter me from staying there again!

Review 48:We stayed here while we took an overnight trip to see the Neuschwanstein Castle. The hotel is very nice and the staff is very friendly. There is a little kinder play area near the reception so your little ones can play there while you check in. There is free internet in the reception downstairs and decent daily rates in your room. The bedroom was very clean and bigger than expected. The hotel was very quiet and we had a pleasant stay. We also had a view of the castle from afar from our room, and it's less than a 10 min drive away. We decided to have dinner at the restaurant below and it was very good as well. The staff was very friendly and the food came out quickly. I would describe it as a quaint restaurant with a tavern-like atmosphere.

Review 49:The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were very clean. The food was excellent. I loved their coffee. The hotel is very close to the bus stop and 2 km walking distance to the castles if you want to walk. My friend and I loved it.

Review 50:No wireless internet; late arriving guests were very loud.

Review 51:Cute hotel in a great location near the castles, very nice and helpfull staff, good breakfast.

Review 52:Very efficient but not particularly welcoming. Some staff spoke very little English. No lift. If you didn't make breakfast early there was little choice as certain items like eggs weren't replenished. Wifi in the room very expensive.

Review 53:Conveniently located in the centre of Schangau. Large, quiet and comfortable room with balcony. Good breakfasts and restaurant. Very efficient staff. Although we've noted some negatives the good far outweighed the bad and we would stay here again.

Review 54:Internet didn't work very well, but the staff cheerfully refunded our money.

Review 55:Room was darling; delicious restaurant in building; friendly, helpful staff; breakfast included.

Review 56:I honestly can not think of anything my wife and I did not like about this hotel.

Review 57:Staff was friendly and helpful. Includes breakfast. Very nice restaurant and good food at reasonable prices. Right in the middle of a small beautiful Bavarian town. Perfect location and perfect hotel for someone that wants to visit Bavaria and the Neuschwanstein castle.

Review 58:Our room faced the road so very noisy. Sleep quality not great. Wi-Fi did not work in the room. No lift so had to pull bags upstairs.

Review 59:Facilities good. Food in dining room good. Room a good size. Friendly staff. Hotel was ok for overnight stay.

Review 60:The bathroom is a bit dated No lift, just stairs to track your suitcaseup and down The main road which is a price you pay for a view of thecastle - can get a bit noisy in the morning

Review 61:Easy to find Free car parking facilities Your get loyalty discountfor castle visit - 1 euro but better than nothing ;-) Simple butSpacious room

Review 62:* Mattress was very hard * Lumpy pillows

Review 63:* Very close to main sights * Parking outside hotel * Quiet room * Restaurant in hotel with super beer selection

Review 64:Could not chat with the staff on the night of arrival to confirm breakfest, time to check out...

Review 65:Very kind the room heating is available...even though travelled in summer but it's only 13 degree in night there.

Review 66:We disliked the internet facility. They made is free of charge on a computer in common area, which was very useless and inconvenient in our case. And for the wifi on my laptop I needed to PAY :( We ordered chocolate milk in their restaurant, and that was not hot...also the service was poor.

Review 67:We liked the location very much, because according to our tour plan for this area, it connected us well. Our focus was not only castles but also area. They allowed us to keep our bags in their office, that was nice of them. But they didnt had any paper work. In case of lost of the bags, I wonder how I would have managed. Breakfast was good.

Review 68:many steps to reach rooms, on several floors, difficult for elderly people. Should have requested a lower level room.

Review 69:Exceptional guest house. Excellent restaurant

Review 70:My wife and I stayed two nights to see the castles. The staff was extremely helpful and courteous. Room was very clean and well maintained, great shower. We paid a little extra for a room with a view of the Castles - well worth it. Standard, good breakfast of cereal, cold cut meats, fruits and bread, good coffee. Highly recommend.

Review 71:No hotel staff on the 7th because of holiday, but nothing to make our stay unpleasant

Review 72:Breakfast was very nice full of everything you can think of

Review 73:Good location.

Review 74:nothing

Review 75:good welcome

Review 76:Wifi not free little bit hot in the rooms no AC

Review 77:Every thing. .very good location. and reception staff was very kind

Review 78:No free WiFi seems a bit old-fashioned.

Review 79:Very good breakfast, great service. Comfortable big rooms, very convenient location.

Review 80:Pillows need more filling.

Review 81:Fantastic hotel in the most beautiful part of Bavaria. Lakes, castles, Forrest walks, bike riding. It has it all.

Review 82:Room is big~, but a little bit old. View is great. And got parking place, how nice!

Review 83:Nothing.

Review 84:Location and view were awesome.

Review 85:no wifi

Review 86:location, clean, comfortable perfect position

Review 87:Restaurant was closed and had to pay for wifi.

Review 88:Good location for access to the castles.

Review 89:expensive restaurant and wi-fi

Review 90:Location, comfortable rooms and a very pleasant restaurant

Review 91:The whole hotel experience was second to non. With the adde bonus of the ehole family speaking perfectEnglish.

Review 92:no...

Review 93:it is only 2 km away from the castle and the hotel has quite a long the food servered is good.

Review 94:Everything was perfect. Just pay a small extra for WIFI which is very reasonable and provided a fast connection.

Review 95:The staff was adequate, but not especially welcoming. Parking was tight.

Review 96:The hotel was convenient. The room was quite comfortable and well furnished.

Review 97:Love everything about this place.

Review 98:Bed a little too firm, especially for me with a bad back.

Review 99:Very convenient for a visit to Neuschwanstein

Review 100:No elevator

Review 101:Comfortable accommodation. Breakfast good.

Review 104:Excellent location, cozy hotel, beautiful views

Review 105:Pillow! :/

Review 106:Lovely German style hotel, comfortable room, perfect location to Neuschwanstein Castle

Review 107:Pay for wi-fi

Review 108:Bigger shower than most others in Germany. Beautiful spot.

Review 109:Location a bit remote from Fussen.

Review 110:Value For Money

Review 111:Friendly and helpful staff, food was outstanding, the room was clean comfortable and large with outstanding view of the Alps from the balcony

Review 112:breakfast options can be improved the person serving the breakfast can be friendlt

Review 113:The room we were provided was marvellous! It hd a small room within it with single bed for our child and the bathroom was extremely clean. It felt like we stayed in a beautiful apartment with a lot of space

Review 114:It is a bit noisy because of the main road but we had a quiet room.

Review 115:Our stay there was amazing. Location is super, really close to the castles and city Fussen. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Food was so delicious not to mention the bavarian beer :) We would go back again.

Review 116:Some (not all) staff was a bit harsh to deal with.

Review 117:Excellent location. The room was spacious, simple but beautiful. Very comfortable setting. Loved the view from balcony. Small village, loved the surroudings. Very clean and new feeling.

Review 118:Bad for anyone with allergies. There was just too much dust...in carpets, on nicknacks, on wood in room. There was no free wifi & the computer room was so very hot. I think our "comfort" double room was actually smaller than the regular double room we rented for our family. Also ours had no view, and no proper chair for sitting, only a bench. For one night it "worked".

Review 119:Server in restaurant was great. Food was excellent both in restaurant and at the breakfast buffet.

Review 120:This place was great! We reserved a triple as we were with our 19 year old daughter and were surprised we had a 2 bedroom and 1-1/2 bath top floor room. We also had a balcony where we had a direct view of both castles. The owner also told us to get an early start to visit bothe castles as it getting crazy with tourists and buses. This was great advice as tickets were at a minimum because of pre-sales. We had a hearty German breakfast (included) in the morning and spent a great morning touring the castles and museum before the over run of the tour buses.

Review 121:No free wifi

Review 123:The mattresses were extraordinarily firm.

Review 124:The staff was very welcoming. Breakfast was hearty and the restaurant's dinner was delicious. The location was perfect for wandering the town and visiting Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau.

Review 125:The staff in the restaurant was not nice. The door knock cannot be automatic knocked when the door close. Need to use key to knock and re-open. It might cause dangerous when there's emergency but the key is lost.

Review 126:The rooms are pretty, clean and tidy. Housekeeping staff are nice and hardworking. The restaurant is pretty and food is nice.

Review 127:The fact that the internet in the room was on charge and there was no safe deposit box within the room.

Review 128:Everything was ok; the room was very big, very clean, the breakfast was ok and very good, the restaurant has a good food and not very expensive. The view was magnificent; from the balcony we saw the two castles.

Review 129:No heater at night, although staff apologized profusely which made a difference. otherwise nice place to stay

Review 130:Friendly staff; Close to couple restaurants; close to castles; convenient parking; good breakfast

Review 131:Arrived at the hotel a bit early than planned due to the excellent traffic conditions and had no problem checking in. The staff at the reception was first class and very helpful. Great location, great hotel, great room and great service, need I say more? Would recommend the Landgasthof Zur Post to anybody visiting the area.
