Reviews for Hostal Castilla

Review 1:Room (18) was very cold at first & very separate from the rest of the Hostal.

Review 2:Just being there in Aranjuez and in your Hostal. The staff were very friendly & helpful.

Review 3:Authentic Spanish accommodation in a great safe central location. Very friendly helpful staff. We enjoyed relaxing in the beautiful inner courtyard with abundant plants and shrubs. Very clean good size bedrooms with bath/shower. Free WiFi

Review 4:Nothing we had a lovely stay

Review 5:This is a beautiful quiet hostel with a lovely inner courtyard with the rooms surrounding it. Very central to the main town. Booking.com did say no parking but there was free parking right outside the hotel.

Review 6:a little noisy at times due to being an old building

Review 7:Beautiful patio and interesting old property lots of things to see and do in Aranjuez and surrounding villages

Review 8:If you leave window open overnight you may encounter cockrouches on the floor (although we found just few and already dead). Guess that room was not cleaned during our stay (you may find it advantage or disadvantage) because trash was constantly piled up in the bin. Breakfast was served very nicely (fresh home made orange juice, tosts or croissants and tea or coffe) but it was really small for it's price (3 euro).

Review 9:Small, beautiful hostel with small patio full of flowers, located within 5-15 minutes walk from shops, restaurants and main tourist attractions (such as Royal Palace and gardens). Cosy, comfortable, quiet, gives pleasurable feeling of intimacy. Perfect for those who seek for undisturbed rest.

Review 10:We couldn't find a restaurant for early dinner but to be fair it was Sunday night. When we enquired we were told the restaurant we found didn't open until 8.30 but they would make us a sandwich, which they did.

Review 11:Very authentic Spanish building with internal courtyard. Although only on street parking there are spaces just at the front door, so very convenient. Lots of cafe bars for after dinner drink.

Review 12:Nothing

Review 13:Location, standard of cleanliness, receptive staff. Not stayed in a hostel before and this one is quite interesting. Room on first floor with other accommodation shared with friendly local residents. Breakfast basic but just ask for whatever you want/whats on offer. Location is good. No parking but just squeeze in to any spaces in the surrounding streets ( generally free). Aranjuez is an extremely interesting town to visit.

Review 14:Hostal appeared very "tired". Bathroom inseroius need of updating. WIFI only in certain areas.

Review 15:The terrace was nice and the camerero at breakfast was good.

Review 16:Lovely room, comfortable bed, friendly helpful staff. Has a quaint patio garden. Just a short walk from Aranjuez square, shops, market & cafes.

Review 17:Fantastic stay, friendly and welcoming owners, superb breakfast and great value

Review 18:All good

Review 19:Great location for main sites in town. Comfortable and friendly accommodation and pet friendly

Review 20:Breakfast, very pretty courtyard with plants, comfortable

Review 21:Very little english spoken

Review 22:Pretty, family run hotel with traditional building, but modern facilities. Good on-street parking close by.

Review 23:Nothing really.

Review 24:Convenient location, friendly staff, nice room, pet friendly.

Review 25:Location - very easy to find, easy to park. Nice comfortable rooms. Good breakfast.

Review 26:We liked the court yard where we could sit and have breakfast.Every thing about it was really Spanish.A lovely place to stay

Review 27:Not as close to the sights as other places. Buses are available though.

Review 28:Friendly enough and with potential. Family run.

Review 29:The bar (which I think was also the breakfast room) was very uninspiring so we had breakfast in a cafe outside. Because of the good location this was not a problem. There was a little step into the bathroom that was a tripping hazard. Don't know if that's the same in all the rooms.

Review 30:The courtyard was lovely but on our rainy stay we couldn't use it. We thought parking was going to be a big problem, but we did a 'turn around the block'and found a space right outside the hostal. Just down the road is a fabulous traditional tapas bar / restaurant called Casa Pedrito - the menu del dia was superb. The Greek restaurant was good also (can't remember the name). And don't miss the indoor market. Aranjuez is a lovely city. The receptionist was nice and helpful.

Review 31:Location - very convenient for Royal Palace. Comfortable yet informal feel, with guest rooms interspersed amongst residential apartments, all around lovely courtyard. Nice breakfast too. On street parking has never been a problem and this is our 4th or 5th stay.

Review 32:The hostel is very close to the palace and gardens. Comfortable room and large bathroom. Perfect breakfast with fresh orange juice and good coffee /cappuccino.

Review 33:the hostal was perfectly situated for all the areas of interest, gardens ,palace etc.I loved the charm of the courtyard and our room opened onto it.Dont expect luxury but very clean and good value

Review 34:Clean and very friendly. The building itself is very relaxing and pretty. Breakfast was good value and they included cereals with milk, which is not usual in Spain. The location is perfect, especially for getting in and out of town quickly.

Review 35:Nothing to dislike

Review 36:The courtyard was amazing with vines for shade. the breakfast was good with the orange juice freshly sqeezed as we waited. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was clean and facilities good.

Review 37:I really enjoyed my stay at the Hostal Castilla. The location is great in the center of Aranjuez and the staff are very nice. The room is basic but everything is well cared for and very clean. It is a good hotel at a reasonable price, I would stay at the Hostal Castilla again.

Review 38:Nothing.

Review 39:Excellent location within walking distance of Palace and many bars and Restaurants. Lovely courtyard to enjoy breakfast and rooms large and welcoming

Review 40:This was a nice hostal. We needed some help with making travel arrangements and Pilar was extremely helpful and friendly. The hostal was ver attractive and comfortable.

Review 41:The squeaky bed!! La cama muy vieja

Review 42:We stayed for six nights. The courtyard was a lovely place to sit, felt part of the family, staff were lovely, breakfast was simple but lovely. Nostros estuvimos por 6 noches. El jardin es muy bello para relajarse, un lugar muy familia, el personal muy amegable, el desayuno simple peru muy rico

Review 43:Have stayed here 3 times. It's very comfortable and the staff are helpful without being intrusive. The central location is ideal for sight seeing and eating out. It's dog friendly.

Review 44:Easy walk to attractions. Able to park a car in the street nearby. Pretty courtyard to sit in warm weather. Lots of places in easy reach serving meals.

Review 45:The courtyard patio is beautiful and creates a totally tranquil atmosphere. The staff were very helpful and made us very welcome.Throughout the hostal it was spotlessly clean. we were able to park the car easily, free of charge and the hostal is centrally placed so we could walk to all the places of interest.

Review 46:Nothing to do directly with Hostal Castilla, but everyone should be aware of a local fast food restaurant, the "Royal Chicken Kebab", a few 40 meters down the same street, where my purse was stolen with all my belongings. Great continental breakfast till 11h.

Review 47:Location, cleanliness of the room, a very typical as castillian ambiance with it's nice patio with real local neighbours. Kindness of the staff.

Review 48:Breakfast . sparse to say the least.

Review 49:Lovely old traditional building with central patio. Simple but adequate accommodation. Friendly staff, and just a short walk into the centre of Aranjuez. Free car parking available on street outside the hotel.

Review 50:Well located on a nice street and inner courtyard very nice for rest and perhaps using the wifi . Friendly staff and 'homely' feel making stay relaxed. Hot water was hot and towels fine. Did not need to use A/C but can keep window open. Just down the street towards the palace is the covered market (Mercado) where you find pastry shop and good coffee shop also and the bus to the railway station runs from here. Continuing straight down same street after going through impressive stone gates you get to tourist office.

Review 51:The breakfast was basic but actually sufficient for our needs.Given the price excellent value.Perhaps need more shower gell in the room as 2 per day after a busy hot day were not enough. This did not spoil our stay as we always travel with our own shower gell

Review 52:A lovely hotel. The courtyard was lovely and the location was excellent. We parked on the street just outside the hotelWe travelled by train to Madrid for 7euros 60 cents return! The trains were clean and so prompt. The hotel staff were very pleasant

Review 53:The WIFI was not ideal, only available in some area of the Hostal

Review 54:It is beautiful. The architecture is very beautiful with a typical Spanish patio that you do not often see. When I saw the patio, I was in love! It is quiet and homey feel to it. It's ideaal to take iot the plug, from our too busy to lives, and to enjoy the simpel things in life. If I ever come back to the beautiful Aranjuez I will definitely want to stay there. Whole-hearted people also typical spanish friendely. Hostal Castilla is in my top 5!

Review 55:We stayed here on our way from Madrid to the costa Blanca. We wantedsomewhere about an hour from the airport, reasonably priced andfunctional as we were just touching down for the night and as a familyof 5 everywhere we looked at meant we would need 2 rooms which gets veryexpensive otherwise. 2 rooms here were well priced. This Hostal wasexactly what we wanted and expected, and to be fair was probably betterthan anticipated. Although dated, it was clean enough, with ensuites, had air con and a tv. The pretty central courtyard added to the verySpanish feel of the hostal. There was a fridge with cold drinks to buycheaply and the breakfast was exactly what my children love, a greatmixture of toast, cereal and cakes! The location was central to placesto eat and to the town square. The staff were very friendly and helpful(we speak Spanish so couldn't say how might have been different inEnglish, but assume that all would be much the same!) parking is outsideon the road which I was concerned about but actually we parked rightoutside. Would definitely recommend for those in our position...andothers. Good price for a nice budget stay.

Review 56:Nothing I don't like.

Review 57:This is a fabulous little hostal, it is very , very 'Spanish' - it's ina gorgeous old-style (18thC?) Spanish building, with rooms off a centralcourtyard. It is basic but, like most little Spanish hotels, it'sspotlessly clean; the rooms have air conditioning, tv, sensibly-sizedbathrooms. I love it so much I've stayed here twice, and will probablyreturn. Aranjuez is a photogenic place, site of the Spanish monarchs'spring palace whose gardens while not cared for as well as they might beare still relaxing and charming to wander round. It is also a perfectplace from which to explore Madrid, without the hassles of driving inthat city (which is quite a stressful thing to do) - there is a trainthat gets you to the centre of Madrid in a short time. Oh, and breakfastwas included in the price and again is simple but delicious - themanager came over with a bowl of cherries when we were halfway throughbecause he thought we might like some! Hostal Castilla? Yes, definitely,it has my vote every time.

Review 58:Lovely laid back hotel - very friendly helpful staff - rooms very clean and comfortable - good continental breakfast Charming old building full of character with a fantastic courtyard to relax in.
