Reviews for Hostal Durán
Review 1:Our room was cleaned daily with fresh towels, the owner and other staff were very friendly and cheerful. We had a room with a sunny balcony overlooking the castle. Hotel very convenient for Alora shops, cafes and bars' also for public transport to the railway station.
Review 2:The parking facilities. There should be an indication/ map where to park because it was very difficult to find. Bathroom needs a little bit of attention.
Review 3:Breakfast served on the balcony in sun. Great suggestion by the really friendly staff.
Review 4:Most excellent hospitality and kindness. A most wonderful family hostelry. Superb location. Proprietor goes out of his way any and every day to help his guests in any and every way.
Review 5:small room,no lift, difficult when having heavy suitcases, partly difficult driving to the hotel through the narrow and partly very steep streets of this "white village",parking very difficult to find
Review 6:staff very friendly and helpful !!! ,fantastic view from the balcony,breakfast- though paid extra-was served on the balcony
Review 7:The beautiful view from the balcony and the helpfulness of the owner to to speak as much English as he could (better than my Spanish). Beautiful breakfast delivered at a time suitable to me, straight to my room
Review 8:We were made to feel very welcome, clean room, air conditioning, tv and fridge if needed. Breakfast on the balcony with picture perfect views of Alora and the hills beyond. Excellent location and excellent value.
Review 9:It was cold in February but there was heating so that could be adjusted. Bathroom light was erratic and refused to work on last night - we had meant to mention this but forgot.
Review 10:Paco made for a very agreeable and helpful host, with his assistant giving us good breakfasts. I would say the beds and bedding are a bit tired but I slept well every night - quiet too - and that is what you want, after all.
Review 11:The wifi was very unreliable unreliable and slow and kept cutting off. It would have also been nice to have a small bin in the rooms.
Review 12:Everything was excellent apart from the wifi. The owners were very friendly. The view of the castle was also very nice.
Review 13:Very friendly staff, particularly the owner. We liked the fact that you could request a room with a view of the castle at no extra cost (obviously first come first served!). These rooms also come with a private balcony, which is another plus! I would always stay at Hostal Duran on future visits to Alora, as it is ideally located just by the top square, cafes, bus stops and a short walk up to the castle etc.
Review 14:Difficult to find by using car GPS. Limited English speaking staff.
Review 15:Frendly and helpful staff. Old building with soul. Terrace view. Good beds and quilt. The down town cocks crows four a clock in the morning:-) Value for money!
Review 16:Fairly basic and old-fashioned, but clean and comfortable enough. Great location. Amiable staff and a family atmosphere. All in all, good value for money.
Review 17:Basic. The supposed wi fi did not work although the owner was very helpful with most other things.
Review 18:Good view of castle from balcony. Nice breakfast. Quite comfortable.

Review 42:Nothing. Loved it !
Review 43:Casa rustica.great historic house.
Review 44:Shower was ancient and didn't work very well.
Review 45:Quiet room. Clean. Good price.
Review 46:nothing
Review 47:host very helpful
Review 48:The view from the rear patio of the old town and the hills is quite stunning.
Review 49:breakfast enjoyed on the patio
Review 50:Price. Location. Staff.
Review 51:Very nice welcome by Paco, i think te owner, old man. Spoke only spanisch, but with my little spanisch it was oke !
Review 52:The location is fantastic, the owner Paco was extremely friendly and if you have a room with a balcony like we did the view is breathtaking.
Review 53:Pack was a warm and welcoming host. We arrived very wet with filthy bikes and there was no problem bringing them into the tiled entrance hall. Breakfast was excellent by Spanish standards.
Review 54:Very good breakfast on my balcony with beautiful views towards the castle. The manager was very friendly and hospitable. The location near the town square and bus stop foot the train station was very useful.
Review 55:The doors of the rooms and some furniture are old enough.
Review 56:The location is great and the staff very friendly. They can help you with information and things to do in Álora. If you're going there by car, remember to park at the square that's close to the hostal, otherwise park outside of the city center. The city center is small with very narrow streets so, just avoid to explore it by car.
Review 57:Tough parking situation! But thats Spain!
Review 58:A very nice familiar place to stay at. Although we stayed for only one night, we already started to love this place. And the hostel father knows all football results, even if Real beats Schalke 6-1.
Review 59:I would recommend the use of a rug on the floor in winter months as the tiles were very cold underfoot. It may also be worth installing hairdryers for guests who forget theirs.
Review 60:The staff were very friendly and helpful and I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to anyone staying in Alora - we would stay again. It is ideally situated close to the upper square of Alora with its cafes and great atmosphere. The views from our room of the castle and the town were breathtaking.
Review 61:Our room had a ferry attractive setting, overlooking the castle and roofs of the town. We loved being served breakfast on the balcony of our room, enjoying the sunrise and the sounds of doves, roosters and dogs.
Review 62:The breakfast costs 5€, not expensive but nothing fancy, you can have more choice at a lower price on the square nearby. Driving in Alora can be a nightmare. If you have a big car, avoid driving into the hotel street since the streets are very narrow and very steep. There's a big car park at the entrance of the city (5 min walk) or you can unload your luggage on the square.
Review 63:Almost everything. Family run hotel, the owner was very friendly and helpful. Good location. The rooms are simple but clean. And as written by other reviewers, the entrance is full of character. There was nothing on Alora in my guidebook, but the city is really charming.
Review 64:Our first drive round the steep narrow streets was a bit scary but we soon learned how to find our way.
Review 65:Very friendly helpful people, plentiful breakfasts, a simple clean hotel with a real Spanish feel in a delightful small town.
Review 66:Parking could be a problem as some of the streets were closed off for a fiesta!
Review 67:Breakfast was delivered to our room on a tray to be eaten on our terrace - fantastic!
Review 68:Entrance to hotel full of character. Good sized room with fridge and a balcony with table and chairs and a superb view across to the castle and beyond. Breakfast, including plenty of coffee was served on our balcony.
Review 69:Poor sound insulation in rooms: the owners use the main lobby as livingroom, with loud yelling even after midnight.
Review 70:Location, views from balcony (at least rooms 104,105,106)
Review 71:Very nice hotel, very central. The landlord is very friendly and helpful. The room was simple but well equipped. A very nice surprise was the wounderful view from the balcony.
Review 72:Parking awkward. The hotel street has a very few parking places but isvery narrow and becomes very steep as you leave it. Best to park in thevillage car park below the Police station, a 4 mins walk from the hotel.
Review 73:The reviewer who described the hotel as a very good, quite basic hotelis right. Owner Paco is super-friendly and helpful. Rooms are quite barebut have decent beds, fridge, good bathroom, plenty of hot water, tv andair con, and our room had a wonderful large balcony where you could sitand take in the marvellous views of village, castle and hills.Alora with its very Spanish atmosphere makes an excellent base for touring the area - El Chorro and the reservoirs beyond, El Torcal, Antequera, and all the nearby villages
Review 74:Probably the parking, as on narrow street. Had to carry bags from down the street.
Review 75:Good location for El Chorro climbing. The hostal was cheap, clean and comfortable. Fridge in room was great to keep drinks cold and the balcony was a nice suprise to soak up the morning sun. Easy to find through the town, will use again.
Review 76:bed a little ancient
Review 77:great view from our little balcony
Review 78:Wonderful views , lovely owner, perfect location and great price
Review 79:Noise at night due to next room's air conditioning unit which was located outside on our balcony
Review 80:Good price per night
Review 81:Very friendly family run Hostal in the middle of town Great if you want to brush up on your Spanish. Would definitely stay there again.

Review 86:Really great place to stay in Alora Central location. Friendly staff, absolutely perfect
Review 87:The bathroom fitments were a bit worn, but given the price, this is tobe expected.
Review 88:Staff were very friendly and very helpful.
Review 89:There was no heating in room, and A/C we tried to use was noisy at night time. Alora as a town is rather boring.
Review 90:Staff was quite friendly.
