Reviews for Tampere Maja
Review 1:We stayed there at the family room for 1 night, and had a good experience at this guesthouse. The family room was spacious, with kitchen area, and there were paintings on the wall. Staffs were friendly and helpful. We need to check-out early before breakfast started, the staffs were kind enough to leave the pantry door open the night before (note: no 24-hour reception), so that we could grab a simple breakfast from the fridge in the early morning. Tampere Maja is an old wooden house, no lift, 2 floors of steep stairs. Be prepared if you have heavy luggage. BTW, there are good restaurants in town, like “La Dolce Vita” and “Noir”.
Review 2:The whole building looks outdated inside, it's in urgent need of liters of paint and varnish. The bathroom was not clean when I arrived, there were stains on the toilet seat, the douche is rusted, the silicone joints are dirty, the door is dirty and during my 4-night stay the room and bathroom were never cleaned.
Review 3:A charming typical wooden building in the old town centre, everything is nearby. This B&B is is reasonably priced but it's very basic. Breakfast is self service and there was enough, but again, basic. There is free parking behind the building, and good wifi is everywhere.
Review 4:The guesthouse is very cosy (kind of makes you feel at home) and in a fantastic location. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is perfect!
Review 5:Close to many sights. Railway station is a bit uncentral, so we walked for 20 - 25 minutes. Old building with charm. Spacious room with kitchenette. With warm weather the room was also warm, but a fan was provided. A bit cramped at (cold) breakfast.
Review 6:I like the quietness of the overall environment, so close to downtown and historic area. The building itself is a historical one. For university related event related participants are perfect choice!
Review 7:Breakfast... we were first to come down to breakfast, eggs not boiled for guests, cold cuts eaten (likely by staff as we were the first to come down and all tables were set and untouched), not enough put out for number of guests... by the time eggs were ready all guests were done with breakfast... Bathroom was not very clean, sitting room floor not cleaned...en general we had the feeling that no one really cleaned the room prior to our arrival. Sheets were fine! :) ...poor cleaning job. Front office staff absorbed in desk projects and inattentive.
Review 8:location. building is charming, rooms well appointed. has parking
Review 9:Surprise was quadruple room price including only 3 persons so an extra +25% was asked at check out. Afterwards I noticed it being mentioned in confirmation so nothing to complain however it leaves a bit a feeling of a "small print"-approach. Therefore i rated value for money mediocre as the nearby 4-star hotel charges the same.
Review 10:Very nice facility - well renovated very old house, very unique and appealing. It suits the best for a group to book fully as then you would feel like family gathering at home. Own closed parking is excellent for cyclists to keep the equipment secure and safe.
Review 11:Rambling old house with lots of nooks and crannies used to provide computer desk, sauna, lounging space... Great location... Good breakfast..genuine warm staff
Review 12:Bathroom facilities very poor and breakfast very bad. No staff available. Till late in the evening there was a private sauna party on the way out and in the garden. we were assumed to stay in our room.
Review 13:Location was good and free parking
Review 14:Nothing.
Review 15:Great location within 5 minutes of everything. Very quiet with lightly used road out front. We had a back room so could not comment on any possible noise at the front. Staff were excellent with spot on recommendations for food and coffee. Allowed us to use their laundry facilities without charge.
Review 16:If you are looking for a "business hotel" with lifts, conference rooms, and bell-boys then this is the wrong place. If you are looking for a friendly place for a few days holiday then it is perfect. I loved it. For some people you might have issues with: My room's walls were quite thin which could be an issue if you had noisy neighbours. Some of the doorways and passages have low ceilings which might be an issue if you are particularly tall. The reception is not open 24 hrs per day which might be an issue for some people.
Review 17:Tiny "boutique" hotel in an historic building in central Tartu. I imagine all the rooms are different. My room 4 was lovely, warm, clean, nice bathroom, thoroughly welcoming. I paid EUR44 per night inc breakfast which was astonishingly good value. Highly recommended!
Review 18:Nothing
Review 19:We had a very early departure and the staff provided an early breakfast for us, this was most apppreciated. The building is very old and is most interesting
Review 20:Nothing to complain. We really enjoyed our stay.
Review 21:The overall coziness of the old building really hit the spot for us. Sauna was really nice, not to mention the always helpful staff.
Review 22:Problems with water dreinage in shower which was quite disturbing and urine stains on toilet seat.
Review 23:Location is good and room was quite comfortable and nice. Friendly staff. Breakfast included.
Review 24:Something, however, was really wrong with the Wi-Fi in the room on the 2nd floor.
Review 25:Really good location. Silent, spacious room, good LCD TV, heated floor in the bathroom.
Review 26:It is not for tall people as I hit my head several times on the door post
Review 27:It is situated at very center of the city, super friendly staff: hostess allowed us to keep the car at the back yard parking even after checking out. The reception works till 8 pm but we were late and the girl waited for us
Review 28:Staff very friendly and rooms and communal areas had a really homely feel. We were made to feel very welcome. Parking at rear of property was very convenient too as we had an early start.
Review 29:Bathroom could have been cleaner. Low water pressure and partially clogged toilet.
Review 30:Central location in the old town. Cozy old wooden house. Great value for money.
Review 31:It is a nice, confortable and cozy place to stay. I really felt like in my own house. Location is perfect. Staff very nice, I had to leave the hotel at 6 a.m. and they told me that they would leave things ready for breakfast for me in the kitchen, then take yourself what you like. It was so nice from them. Thanks so much. I believe if you go to Tartu you must stay in this hotel, for me it will be a unforgettable place. Marco, from Spain.
Review 32:I stayed a total of 4 nights and would have liked more towels.
Review 33:Very good location. A building and rooms full of character. Clean rooms and communal areas. Free water cooler outside my room. Good and varied breakfast to suit most tastes. Friendly, helpful and knowledgeable staff. Overall very good value for money.
Review 34:The most inviting hotel, comfortable, homely. The use of kitchen facilities, free WI-FI, free parking in a closed yard, location in the middle of old town - you couldn't find a better place to stay.
Review 35:No elevator (year's worth of clothes for college student to carry upstairs). Not enough hot water early morning.
Review 36:Nice breakfast. Close to university.
Review 37:Felt a bit dinky and clunky. But I guess that's logical given the old building. Bit expensive for what you get, but I guess there's little to choose in the high season.
Review 38:Excellent location (few minutes walk from central square), free parking in the back, simple kitchen to make tea and such. Fair breakfast.
Review 39:There was nothing to dislike, the stairs to 3rd floor at the most
Review 40:Unique wooden house with a lot of charm, very friendly and helpful staff. It was already my second stay and going to Tartu, it will be my choice again
Review 41:The window showed to the neighbour's house wall. Bathroom a bit old.
Review 42:Private parking. Lovely but small breakfast room. Patio/garden to sit in. Quiet and peaceful atmosphere in this house.
Review 43:Location good as central. We could have got food for ourselves in the kitchen had we wanted to.
Review 44:Breakfast was poor - small choice; first day not enough coffee.
Review 45:Location,room, sauna, staff - almost everything was perfect.
Review 46:Lovely
Review 47:A little strange lay out, but it's a old building.
Review 48:Great location and nice staff.
Review 49:Fast and stable wifi, furniture in good condition
Review 50:Location Beautiful old house Friendly and helpful staff
Review 51:Quiet and well locatednothing
Review 52:great guesthouse in an original Tartu home. friendly staff an cosy breakfastroom in the "kitchen"
Review 53:Perfect location between old town and toomemägi. The atmosphere of this old wooden house is absolutely amazing and unique.
Review 54:The breakfast was very simple
Review 55:Excellent location, really nice and unique atmosphere and rooms, friendly staff. Good value for money
Review 56:Lovely 18th Century house with authentic Estonian feel. Comfortable and clean with local charm. Very convenient for city center.
Review 57:Slightly small bathroom
Review 58:Beautiful old building, well located, lovely town.
Review 59:Perfect location, excellent wooden house.
Review 60:Only 1 flat pillow each Not much cookware in kitchen No light in starway
Review 61:Excellent staff Location great Nice feel about the place
Review 62:Some problems with breakfast toast....old bread
Review 63:Everything was perfect!
Review 64:Atmosphere in historic builging
Review 65:Location, history, comfort
Review 66:Very pleasant staff. Excellent location. Attractive traditional house. not luxurious but everything you need.
Review 67:Beautiful old building, nice room. Located right in the old town. Good breakfast.
Review 68:Very well located very help staff very nice breakfast
Review 69:Drainage of the shower was poor Some fittings in the bathroom were loose. Bathroom of the upper floor (or at least at No. 3) is definetely not for people above 1.90m - I was just on the limit :)
Review 70:Old wooden house in old town Cute interior. Breakfast like at home - I like when I do not need shoes to go to kitchen/dining room :) Nice friendly staff Galery inside the house
Review 71:It's a pleasant wooden house wich has all facilities, including kitchen and sauna, and a very pleasant lounge room. Excellent location - just a few steps from the town hall and the University's main building.
Review 72:The most I liked that everywhere is cleanness. It is the important indicator for me. Also it was pleasant to spent time in lounge room. Space there is comfortably organized: you can sit at the table with your notebook or choose book to read of this library, or to sit near the stove. Nearby there is rather convinient kitchen with tea and all necessary kitchen utensils for a case you would like to cook something. Breakfast served at Tampere Maja, is quite varied, so can fortify yourself well in the morning. So, I have only good impressions about staying at this hotel.
Review 73:Breakfast was barely adequate but the staff and coziness of the place rules
Review 74:Exceptional staff. Very quiet place with cozy beds. A few English tv channels. Great location.
Review 75:There was nothing to not like.
Review 76:The comfort of a beautiful old house, homely breakfast and wonderful staff. Location is perfect in the Old Town, very quiet.
Review 77:Gluten-free option for breakfast was promised by the hotel, but there were no gluten-free food available. Waitress proposed the cereals, but these were not marked with respective marking.
Review 78:Bathroom could use some renovation.
Review 79:Cosy rooms, nicely decorated. Great atmosphere. Good breakfast, also it is possible to use the kitchen at any time. Excellent location!
Review 80:Excellent, friendly hotel with great character. We all were very impressed with it. Tartu is also a very attractive town, easy to cover on foot and with excellent restaurants.
Review 81:This building is old and it has some disadventages - squeaky floors, steep stairs, low doors, low water pressure... it creates nice atmosphere but may be inconfortable sometimes. Room no 4 has a brick wall just behind the window.
Review 82:Perfect location, nice, old, wooden building, kitchen, private parking.
Review 83:To warm (mobile airco can't fix that problem) No curtains (it's hard when it's just a few hours dark and the sun shines in all day)
Review 84:Service Good bed Parking place
Review 85:The upper beams of the door-frames (most of them) are very low. If You are taller then 1,80 m, can hit it easily, thou they are marked with red dots.
Review 86:Location is great! Near the center of the Tartu, but in a small quiet street. The old building of the hotel. Bathrooms...
Review 87:Dood location, friendly staff, cosy atmosphere of an old building. Thereis a fireplace which can add some romantic mood to your evenings.Breakfast was not big but enought.
Review 88:nothing
Review 89:We liked the location, it was very good! Centre of the town, very close to the university and the museums. Not far from the bus station (900-1000m). Good breakfast. Very clean and snug. We had booked a family suite with two rooms. Very nice and smart planned. It was very nice of the staff to keep in touch with us and meet and greet us upon arrival (we got there around 1 o'clock at night, and the reception usually closes at 8.00 p.m.!!)
Review 90:Would have liked kind of curtains to keep the room dark while sleeping. Also the beds were very very small.
Review 91:Beautiful old house, interesting by itself. Kitchenettes to be used by the guests, very friendly staff, nice breakfast, homely feeling, location in the old city.
Review 92:A bit cold in the room, but it was -26c on this night so one can expect the wooden house to be a little chilly.
Review 93:Fireplace in lounge area. Breakfast was simple but very adequate and well presented. Secure parking in the courtyard. Heated floor tiles in shower was nice, especially in winter. Rustic and historic building. Very friendly and competent staff.
Review 94:The breakfast area was fantastic, with fireplace and home feel. The onlything that needs to be improved is the selection of items fro thebreakfast: cold cuts was nice, but apart from cereal, and cold buffetitems, the choice of warm food was skimpy. Regardless of that, I highlyrecommend the hotel.
Review 95:The location was superb, the very heart of old town, great Christmasfeel. The staff waited till past time I arrived, which was nice, it evenleft me a an early breakfast at 4am.
