Reviews for Hotel Hanselewirt
Review 1:nothing to complain
Review 2:A little bit too small room but clean. the location is good, Fusen is very close to countryside. Liked this countryside hotel. Breakfast was very good. free parking space.
Review 3:Room on the small and 'tired' side
Review 4:Great view of Neuschwanstein from window and terrace. Very good food in restaurant ad impressive breakfast. Friendly and value for money (Limited) parking on site
Review 5:Our ceiling on the 2nd floor was quite low, so if you are over 186cm you need a room in the 1st floor. Really soft bed but that is personal preference of course.
Review 6:Great breakfast, excellent restaurant. WiFi and parking..
Review 7:I was told the hotel had booked my tickets to Neuschwanstein castle and to collect in the morning, in the morning the staff told us we were to get the tickets ourselves. We had no idea where to buy them and this set us back several hours in waiting for a different tour than the one the hotel said they had booked for us.
Review 8:The location of this hotel was very close to castle Neuschwanstein.
Review 9:Maybe to keep kitchen open until 22:00.
Review 10:Great for staying overnight. Very nice and friendly staff that gave usefull indications for visiting the castles. Had parking available, big food portions at dinner and delicious apfelstrudel for dessert.husband liked dunkel beer von vass. In overall a great impression. It is advisable to inform if you are taller than 1.9 meters Breakfast was OK
Review 11:There were a few issues that left me with a negative feeling. Parking. It is limited and shared with the restaurant patrons. A few times we sat and waited for someone to leave. At one point I found myself parking illegally due to a misunderstanding. The derogatory manner in which the manager?/proprietor? dealt with this was less than impressive. As a travel writer, I have the opportunity to review many hotels in my travels. It is unfortunate that the manner of one staff member can negatively impact what is an otherwise very nice hotel. Pillows. Needed washing or perhaps replacement. They had a very unpleasant odor.
Review 12:Nice quaint hotel in good location. Staff in general were nice. Breakfast was a nice presentation. Coffee is very good! This hotel caters to families with young children. Restaurant has good food. Closed on Wednesdays..
Review 13:No elevator.
Review 14:Location of hotel was good. Short drive to castles. Room & bed comfortable. Good German food restaurant. Very good breakfast. Tea facilities in room. Quiet.
Review 15:Our room was a small double, and yes it was small.
Review 16:Pleasant place to stay, not far from the castles. Ruth on reception was extremely helpful, sorted our castle tickets and even arranged some food for us as we had to checkout before breakfast.
Review 17:WiFi was good but some traffic wasn't supported for some reason (certain Google services wouldn't connect).
Review 18:Hotel is well designed, nice looking rooms with decent size, well equipped. Large restaurant where locals eat as well, served good food. Staff was very helpful with advice, ticket reservation for the castles, etc. Spoke English very well. Nice and detailed guest information in the room.
Review 19:Young receptionist on checkin was rather unhelpful and brusque. It wasn't Ruth who would have been more professional. Unfortunately, ticket booking for castle visits was only for Neuschwanstein Castle and not for Hohenschwangau Castle. We could not book for the latter on the spot as the queue was too long.
Review 20:Great breakfast. Next door to a fairly good Italian restaurant. Bus stops to and from Neuschwanstein Castle literally around the corner from the place. Staff helped book ticket to the castle and saved us queuing.
Review 21:The staff! The lack of friendliness from the staff actually made you feel like you were inconveniencing them by being there. we arrived about 5pm at the hotel and nobody told us that we would need to book for the restaurant if we wanted dinner I had to be quite insistent so we could have dinner. They gave us misleading information regarding the closest laundry which cost us a half a day, we then discovered a laundry much closer to the hotel. We our purchased tickets to the castle from them only to miss the tour time because they didn't tell us that it would take 1.5hours to get to the castle! we allowed 1 hour thinking it was plenty of time and still missed the entrance time, luckily the info centre at the castle could help us out. it was almost like mum and dad were away and the kids were left to run the hotel! don't stay there until some adults return.
Review 22:The location
Review 23:The only extra thing I wish I had in the room was a fridge.
Review 24:Very clean, large and comfy room. Beautiful view from the terrace to the mountains and the Neuschwanstein castle.
Review 25:Not 24 hours, so if you arrive after a check in time, you risk someone not being there so you can check in.
Review 26:Location Breakfast included in price Good amount of space in the room Staff was very friendly
Review 27:The room was lovely. Much bigger than we expected and had everything in it, including coffee making facilities. Wifi was ok but dropped out a couple of times
Review 28:nothing
Review 29:this is a very nice hotel with very lovely and kind staff. Excellent restaurant with very complete breakfast . The room ceiling was a bit low but very comfortable
Review 30:The heating was turned on just when we arrived that's why it was rather cold at the room.
Review 31:We have been settled in the better room than booked and the upgreat was for free. It was cosy and wuth terrace from which was perfect view on the castles.
Review 32:The room was quite small Room equipement (power outlets, lamps, furniture, wall paint, etc...) seemed a bit old, definitely not like the ones on the pictures Pillows on the bed were somewhat uncomfortable Restaurant was closed on both days we stayed there
Review 33:Location Clean Great wifi coverage
Review 34:Everything was perfect.
Review 35:I like everything, the room, the bathroom, the bed and pillow comfort. The way the hotel is distribuited it made me feel like I was staying at a home not as a hotel. The restaurant is excellent, many people of the area go there to have dinner.
Review 36:nothing....would tell any one to stay there
Review 37:nice small mom and pop type hotel...very clean and great food in the restaurant...about one to two miles from the castles...would stay there again in a minute...
Review 38:Definitely a very pretty establishment. Very clean. Menus in multiple languages. Good food. Close to bus stop. The room was advertised with a view of the castle and it did!
Review 39:Could feel smoke in my room through window as people were smoking on the balcony and arounf hotel. But that is the biggest problem in Germany - too much smoking people everywhere, even at the thermal spa resorts they have place for smoking people....
Review 40:Location, kitchen (mean meal), comfortable bed.
Review 41:We could never get the WiFi to work. There was no refrigerator in the room. The restaurant at the hotel had no vegetarian options for dinner.
Review 42:This hotel is within walking distance to the park and several eateries, as well as a supermarket. The views are astonishing. The breakfast is plentiful and good.
Review 43:The rooms can get hot in the summer. Wi-fi was a bit shaky / unreliable
Review 44:The food served in the restaurant is top notch. Great location if you have a bike and are visiting the castles / exploring the area. Also very close to a nearby lively biergarten with spectacular views
Review 45:Any day but WednesdayI arrived at this quaint alpine hotel on a Tuesday for a two night stay whilst travelling across Europe. Tuesday was fine, nice food, quiet room, good WiFi etc., but nobody told me the hotel would be closed the following day - and in fact every Wednesday. So imagine my surprise after breakfast on Wednesday, when I went for a 5 hour walk to return to the hotel at 2pm to find the doors locked and I did not have an outside key with me. Nowhere was this mentioned and none of the staff on Tuesday warned me. I waited outside for about an hour, ringing doorbells, knocking loudly and even contemplating breaking in to retrieve my belongings and car keys that were in my room. Eventually I walked to the local tourist office who confirmed it was closed on Wednesday and someone should have told me. They had no luck tracing the owner or anyone until I suggested I contact the Police and pre-warn them I would have to break in to get my belongings. At this point she became angry (either on my on my behalf or because a break-in would ruin the town's reputation) and then spent 30 minutes making about 10 phone calls until she traced down a cleaner who kindly walked into town (in the rain) to let me in. Once inside (in a somewhat deserted hotel) I intended to spend the night online, booking the following day's destination and speaking to my wife. Imagine my second surprise when I discovered the hotel WiFi code stops working when they close up so I could not contact my wife or book any further accomodation for the following night. Bottom line is, stay by all means but not on a Wednesday. It's not worth all the hassle!
Review 46:Friendly staff - when they were there
Review 47:GREAT LOCATION AND VERY CLEAN!
Review 48:The room was nice and comfy. Staff were very nice.Sara was very friendly and helpful. We will recommend this place.
Review 49:Soft bad, low ceilings in 2me floor.
Review 50:Great location, terrific restaurant and breakfast.
Review 51:nice and clean.comfortable.
Review 52:Wi-fi was awesome; room was comfortable.
Review 53:Great location, helpful staff, quiet clean room and excellent breakfast.
Review 54:The Breakfast was amazing and the staff was welcoming!
Review 55:Good location. Nice and smiley stuff. Romantic. Old, stylish furniture. Tasty breakfast :) Good and stable wifi
Review 56:Wonderful restaurant!
Review 57:The Parking became an issue in the evening.
Review 58:The Irish lady who is the owner was very helpful, the rest of the staff not quite so much.
Review 59:bed was way too soft (almost caving in) and the light in the bathroom did not work
Review 60:breakfast and the generally pleasant place
Review 61:We were given a small room on the third floor. The hotel does not have an elevator.
Review 62:The location was good, near the castles
Review 63:Great location and a wonderful view
Review 64:Great location within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Very accommodating for families with young children. We will come again!
Review 65:Extra bed was very uncomfortable
Review 66:Location - close to castles and town
Review 67:The hotel is quite expensive...
Review 68:The location was excellent. You could easily walk through fields to the castles. The breakfast was very delicious.
Review 69:Breakfast Dinner at the restaurant Good location if you want to visit the castles
Review 70:Excellent restaurant, great proximity to castles, use of lovely robes and towels if you're visiting the Kristall Therme.
Review 71:the staff could not speak English very well, but it was ok to communication.
Review 72:very nice room, surprise for a suite room with a low price !
Review 73:-Convenient location for the therme -Friendly and helpful staff -Breakfast was nice though good value for money
Review 74:Staff seemed disinterested in us and more interested in local customers.
Review 75:Homely feel
Review 76:There was everything good...super breakfast...
Review 77:Small room with low ceiling. Seemed very cramped. Would not stay again due to room size.
Review 78:Good breakfast.
Review 79:everything is good
Review 80:Everything was good
Review 81:small room poor breakfast price is high 70 euro for night
Review 82:location
Review 83:Appearance is clean but has a bed bug problem
Review 84:Location to Castles
Review 85:The service is ok, but one of the staff we had was terrible, who was rude and impatient.
Review 86:Location is good, hotel is comfortable.
Review 87:Had a clean room facing roof fps and mountains with castles. Personnel extremely helpful and nice. Food is great.
Review 88:Nothing
Review 89:It was a very good experience and the food was good. An excellent location for the castles
Review 90:Beautiful location! We loved Schwangau!!
Review 91:we came at 15:30 as check inn time was 15:00, and we had to wait more than an hour in the playroom, till the room was cleaned, nobody apologies or offer something to drink meanwhile. internet did not work well, and the worse - at the next morning there was no warm water for shower
Review 92:The staff was, at times, a bit standoffish, for example when ask to help with the Wifi. There were some astonishing gaps of knowledge, for example when we arrived, the person to greet us did not know which of the 3 rooms we had booked was the single room. The restaurant was actually good, but we had to wait for over an hour for our food, and they had forgotten one meal completely which then took another 30 minutes. No compensation beyond a very brief apology was offered.
Review 93:Good spot in the centre of a Bavarian village, with several other restaurants nearby. In walking distance to the Kaiser-Therme, the hot spa bath, and a 5 minutes drive to Neuschwanstein. Clean and pretty hotel, good breakfast.
Review 94:The wifi was lacking and did not work for us correctly or in our room. Restaraunts staff was slow and did not check on us unless we beckoned them.
Review 95:Hotel staff was great! Restraunt staff was just ok. Rooms were comfortable and very clean. Location was beautiful and well located for the castles. The breakfast was fantastic! Breakfast sever was great too.
Review 96:We anticipated as indicated on Booking.com that this Hotel had WiFihowever we were surprised to find that this was only available if onehad a German cell phone number. Other travellers also complained aboutthis issue. Apparently the Hotel owners and staff had two days off whenwe arrived and we were unable to get any assistance in regards to theWifi issue.
Review 97:Nice surroundings with Neuschwanstein Castle just 2 km away with Alps inthe background
Review 98:We didn't know that the wooden decoration over the bed contained twoindirect reading lights. We only used the ceiling light during our 2-night stay!
Review 99:Very comfortable bar/dining room with excellent traditional Bavarianmeals and prompt service. The (included) continental breakfast was thebest out of the four hotels we stayed at during our trip to Germany. Also, even though we arrived later than we wanted (9:45 pm) the ownerswere very gracious and supplied sight-seeing information (in English)for the next day.
Review 100:My daughter and I stayed here so we could be near the castles. We had acar and there was parking. We were there on a Wednesday so therestaurant was closed. We don't speak German and the person at checkin didn't speak English but we managed!
Review 101:All was excellent.
Review 102:Everything at this hotel was outstanding. We arrived very late at night without arrangements with the hotel. Upon arrival a very friendly lady waiting only for us and was so helpful to us to our rooms. All staff were very friendly and help full. The breakfast and dinners were outstanding and the atmosphere and feel is very good as we experienced a traditional German stay at this nice and beautiful place. The location of the hotel is also very good as all attractions in the area is closeby.
Review 103:Poor information on local buses. Some better info on bus times wouldhave been great as they certainly didn't come as often as the staffthought, and some take different routes to others, and the bus driversare not at all helpful. Or friendly for that matter.
Review 104:The friendly staff and excellent meals. The hotel has a lovely relaxedatmosphere, and the room and view was exactly as promised, so I wasvery happy.
Review 105:This time the wi-fi did not work which was frustrating but the morning staff lady was going to call the company.
Review 106:The location is very close to the castles of Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein. The breakfast is great.
Review 107:Hotel advertised wooden floors. We are allergic to dust, unfortunately most rooms still have carpets with only two being wood floors. Internet registration requires to get an SMS pin, so you still need international roaming to retrieve it.
Review 108:Friendly staff. Good food. Good location.
Review 109:Front desk man very unfriendly and rude. Wifi did not work and no onecould help us connect!
Review 110:Wonderful breakfast and great view and ladies very friendly whowork there.
Review 111:At check in had to wait about 8 minutes til someone came to reception.
Review 112:Location was great, rooms with a view Neuschwanstein castle. 15 minutes walking from Tegelberg bahn.
Review 113:We arrived at midnight - sent an email saying that we´d be late, also we were charged 15euros for a "late night service" which meant we got a key and we were treated in such a rude way I have never experienced in any accommodation before. We travel a lot but this was unbelievable. Staff in hostels where we paid almost nothing for a our stay were more polite when we got lost and arrived hours late than in this hotel! The owner or who the man was gave us a hard time because we came two hours late - although we followed the rules and let them know before by email, also we paid 15euros for that. We travelled 600 km that day so unfortunately sometimes it happens that we aren´t able to arrive on time. Next time we visit Neuschwanstein we´ll definitely pick a different place!
Review 114:Nice place, excellent breakfast service, clean room.
Review 115:Only problem is that it is not easy to get to the train station and the castle. Either way the only transport is to take taxis.
Review 116:Loved the room, the location and the food at the hotel.
Review 117:We stayed there at the beginning of summer with 30-35 C, and the place didn't have air conditioner or ventilators.
Review 118:The hotel is near to Neuschwanstein Castle (you can see it from it) and the lake where you can swim in summer. The room size was fair but it was very clean and nice for the price. The breakfast was really good. The staff borrowed us a card which you can use it at the local bus for free.
Review 119:The room we booked online was not the one they tried to give us when wearrived which and small and dismal. After some complaints about this, they offered us a newer, bigger room with a third futon-stylecouch/bed for our six-year-old. We didn't have the castle view, but room was huge and bathroom very nice. Encountered a very rude man @frontdesk who was annoyed when we asked about bus route to castle andtold us we could find out ourselves. Hospitality was lacking.
Review 120:Close to Neuschwanstein castle, and medieval town of Fussen. Europeanstyle breakfast delicious and filling(muesli, yoghurt, fresh fruit, coldcuts&cheese, fresh rolls, hard boiled eggs, toast, German cake, juice, coffee) was all you can eat. Beds in newer room very comfortable, quiet neighborhood. Bus stop very close by and bus fair to castlesincluded in room price.
Review 121:Food was mediocre for German standards, even for its price range. Smell of the food is noticeable in the entire hotel. We were at the top floor and the doorway and shower really were too low for any normal sized man.
Review 122:Friendly staff, clean rooms
Review 123:parking was abit of an issue as we arrived late.
Review 124:Small village atmosphere including dairy farm nearby. Very close to the castles and convenient. great restaurant
Review 125:Great value for the money, comfy and clean room, great breakfast included, very nice small village and hotel surrounded by beautiful mountains, tourist as well as biking paths close to a lake - whole are is just great
Review 126:Clean, good breakfast. A good location from where one can reach easily on foot Forggensee (as well as other lakes in the area), Tegelberg and Ludwig II's castles. I actually got a room with a view to Neuschwanstein.
