Reviews for Weinhotel Landsknecht

Review 1:3/4 of the room was 2 m wide, add the bars at the window and you got the net impression of a prison cell. My bed broke twice two nights in a row, making sleep somehow difficult.

Review 2:Nice location, room with a view of the Rhine. Staff generally nice.

Review 3:Be careful with the waiters they can bring you plates you have not ordered & will insist you take them.

Review 4:This hotel has everything to be great however it needs al ot of polishing to achieve that. Wine first rate. View from terrace same. Garden appears to be a bike store

Review 5:Nothing to dislike, just be aware it is mile or so from St Goar itself

Review 6:Views of Rhine, great restaurant, good breakfast, very clean. Best of all the wine...all good and great value. We stopped here overnight on our way further south. Liked it so much decided to call in again for second night on our return. If like me you like the Rhine, boats and trains, this is a great place to stop.

Review 7:Staff were a bit off-hand and not welcoming. We were located in an attic room which lacked air circulation and smelt accordingly. Being located in the Rhine Gorge there is continuous train traffic on both sides of the Rhine - all night !!! Fortunately the windows were reasonably sound-proofing

Review 8:Internal Doors locked with no information how to escape in an emergency. No mini bar No air conditioning No tea /coffee maker in room All above were advertised on the website - reason for booking Full amount of money taken three month in advance

Review 9:Food and Views

Review 10:- unwillingness of management to accommodate any requests for massage... Even if in advance ("you *HAVE* to book it at time of reservation"). I wish someone would have told me that ahead of time !

Review 11:- nice view of the Rhine & passing boats - the food

Review 12:BEDROOM WAS LARGE,VERY COMFORTABLE,BATHROOM VERY MODERN,AND VIEW OF THE RIVER.PATIO FOR MEALS AND ABLE TO WATCH BOATS GOING PAST. RESTAURANT EXCELLENT.

Review 13:Attitude of manager when we complained about price paid for two bottles of wine. No explanation in English accompanying the sale of wine to be drunk at the hotel. Therefore bill came to 43.00€ for two bottles costing 15.00€ It would have been nice to have offered a complmentary drink. I would suggest if they advertise to international market they should also use English

Review 14:views and bedroom

Review 15:I stayed during a 24-hr layover in Frankfurt, traveling from Africa to Central America. I rented a car at FRA, made the quick drive to Sankt Goar, had an exquisite supper overlooking the river, slept well, had an amazing breakfast the following morning. Staff and facilities were top notch. Highly recommended!

Review 16:Weinhotel Landsknecht is a charming B&B located directly on the Rhine. The window of my room had a beautiful view overlooking the river. I highly recommend staying at Landsknecht if you are visiting the Rhine region. The dinners at the restaurant are exceptional. The breakfasts have a wide variety of fresh meats, eggs, cheeses, breads, juices and much more. The hotel also has a play area for children. My niece loved petting the giant rabbits. The outstanding feature of this hotel is the service. The hospitality and warmth of the staff is what I will remember most.

Review 17:Bed pillows are lacking by US standards, but overall the comforts of the hotel are lovely.

Review 18:The views of the Rhein are spectacular, especially the view of a castle across the river from the dining room. The staff were wonderfully accommodating.

Review 19:Loved everything about the place - beautiful location, nice clean room, very friendly customer service and fantastic breakfast. We actually extended our stay.

Review 20:Local information of river cruising was somewhat lacking. Staff not sure of times, options, etc. Could have been more informed for visitors. Breakfast was OK but the view still wonderful.

Review 21:Evening dinner was a pleasure. The selections were varied and the wine offerings were marvelous. Waiter was quite helpful and efficient.

Review 22:Amazing location. Probably 3m from river. View of a Rhine castle from our window. Superb dinner and wine tasting. Coffee area near room. Warning: kitchen closes at 20:45 but we were told on arrival.

Review 23:A little bit out of town.

Review 24:Very good for young children with two play areas. We had a large room with lots of space for our 2 year old. Excellent restaurant. Lovely views over the Rhine. Good parking facilities.

Review 25:eek. The train. Because the hotel is right across the street from the tracks, and if you want to sleep with the window open, it is quite noisy. pay the extra to get a room on the Rhine side.

Review 26:Very nice staff, good restaurant right at the hotel with views of the river, plus a patio.

Review 27:A bit noisy due to trains on both side and boats between. The village was not very beatiful...more beatiful villages would have been available...

Review 28:The food was ok in restaurant.

Review 29:Mattresses a little too soft for my liking & Back No aircon on ground floor rooms, which we knew earlier but had to request as there is no elevator

Review 30:Next to the river, really. The pictures dont do justice to the hotel - its very nice A nice restaurant- try their own wines which are very smooth and no tannin Rooms were ready before we arrived and it felt great to be acknowledged by name at arrival Breakfast is outstanding - special orders off eggs and coffee. I love the wide variety of tea - including Darjeeling and Assam :) Home made fresh fare.

Review 31:The view from the window. Fantastic!!!

Review 32:Leaving

Review 33:Dining on the terrace overlooking the Rhine

Review 34:Horrible attitude of the hotel owner to us, which made our trip in Germany very miserable. Too far from the town. Taxi costs too much.

Review 35:breakfast

Review 36:quality at all levels local outlet for excellent wines

Review 37:Excellent restaurant

Review 38:Not long enough stay!:(

Review 39:The advertising said on the Rhine & it was!, thank you

Review 40:a little bit noisy because of trains, but it was not over our comfort zone :)

Review 41:atmosphere of hotel, room facilities, good wines and food

Review 42:To far away from the Village

Review 43:Staff was excellent. Food an wine was great.

Review 44:Personally there was absolutely nothing to fault about the hotel or my stay there

Review 45:A fantastic hotel in a perfect location for visiting or touring the Rhine Valley in the location of SanktGoar. Room had a beautiful view over the river to the hills and castle beyond. Staff were very friendly and helpfull. A brilliant restaurant with excellent menu. Staff were delighted to offer suggestions for German wine to match my choice of meal. If you're there for lunch a beautiful view from the terrace.

Review 46:It could have been a bit cheaper.

Review 47:Spacy rooms, great view of the rhijn river. The quality of the food and the service at the restaurant were also great.

Review 48:Everything seems excellent

Review 49:Location is so good, we enjoyed seeing the Rhine river with its activities. No noise came into the room despite there are railway in front and behind this hotel. The meals are perfect.... would try to come again in summer.....

Review 50:If you book a Superior Room with Rhine view, ask for Room 4 - we think it is the one in the picture and, according to the floor plan pinned on the back of the bedroom doors, is bigger than the others.....

Review 51:Stunning location and views of River Rhine. Good food for dinner and breakfast. Wine - the family which owns the hotel also makes good Rheinwines - you can taste them at the hotel.

Review 52:We really did not like the fact that we had not known before about therailway line next to the hotel and another across the river and a roadon top. The noise was really disruptive during the day and evening, but at night it was surprisingly ok - perhaps we are good sleepers. But the location is not at all convenient for holidaymakers who likepeace and quiet.

Review 53:Good breakfast, size of the room, frindly staff, good dinnersPoint 3 above is difficult to answer: perhaps closeness to attractions -vineyards and castles.

Review 54:There was no sign of the family or anyone in charge - this may have been why the waitresses in the evening were not as friendly as we expected

Review 55:The view from our window was fantastic. Our morning waitress was attentive and very friendly. we enjoyed our breakfast.

Review 56:Booked a non-refundable standard double. The description called for 1king bed. Arrived, was told only had a small single room (2 twinsattached to opposite walls). The manager was not on site and front deskwas being run by the restaurant waitress. On my insistence she calledthe manager, who offered a tiny double room with pushed together twinbeds. Opted for the first room. Since it was non-refundable we were acaptive audience. This place is not in Sankt Goar, but well out of town, sandwiched between the highway and the train tracks (trains run aboutevery 15 minutes). Do not book here if you don't have a car. Theroom was air conditioned so the windows did not have to be opened unlessfresh air is desirable. Very noisy! Internet was frustratingly slow.

Review 57:The staff did not inform us upon check-in that certain doors would be Locked at a certain time ...we had a bottom room floor..there was a table area on the floor for reading or cards..our group was playing cards till 10:40 or so...when other guests went to door to return to room it was locked . We had to go around to front door which was also locked. & lights out... Upon a few bangs on door we got help...although she did come down & irately explained the procedure & she pointed to a sign about the procedure..however it was useless to us since it was in German ...this was my least favorite place we stayed on our trip

Review 58:lack of welcome (apart from the breakfast waitress) which undoubtedly starts with the owner who is, at best, apathetic to making any conversation despite the fact that we know her after at least 15 stays

Review 59:location, comfort, facilities, cleanliness, food

Review 60:really nice small hotel, the reception is friendly. the location is perfect which is just next to the rhein. Furthermore, the dinner and breakfast is awesome, delicious, fantastic. absolutely worth to stay more than 3 days. we only stayed one night, it is a pity.

Review 61:There is no elevator, so you must keep that in mind. The inn is locatedoutside of nearby villages, but if you want to stroll around town in theevening or walk back to your room after wine or beer at anotherrestaurant, this is not the place for you.

Review 62:Located in the Rhine Gorge, the most scenic part of the Rhine River, this gem is one of the few places right on the river. Most inns havethe road and/or railroad between them and the river. I have stayedhere 6 or 7 times over the past 20 years - more than any other inn inEurope - and have been impressed how they continue to upgradefacilities. I keep coming back because the owner is wonderful, therooms are clean, the staff responsive, the restaurant is good, theviews from the Rhine Terrace of the vineyards, village, castles, andriver traffic are great, and it's a quick trip by car to manyfascinating little villages and drives.

Review 63:The decor was fine, but not the nicest we've seen in Germany. Wishwe had a room on the second or third floor. It was very noisy. Also, Idid not realize that the hotel wasn't really in Sankt Goar. It wasabsolutely fine, but I wish I had known beforehand.

Review 64:The staff was nice, and the included breakfast was good. The viewoutside of our room was right next to the Rhine River. I wish we had aroom that wasn't on the first floor only for my own preference, butthe view was great. Parking was very easy.

Review 65:We were disappointed by the reluctance to offer the dessert menu as 21.00 h. approached.

Review 66:Lovely well-designed room overlooking river with every comfort and view of castle. Good well-sourced food including delicious breakfast. Tea and coffee available on each floor. Staff very helpful after our car was in garage for repairs and we needed to stay two extra days. We were given another lovely room on top floor and help with moving our luggage.

Review 67:It is a 2 km walk into town but this is an easy walk along the Rhine

Review 68:All inclusive facilities such as bar, restaurant and wintergarten. Easyparking on site

Review 69:It wasn't right in town but we had a car and liked the quiet. The staff spoke English and was very helpful with directions to the wine festival in Boppard. The room could get warm at night and the air conditioning was great.

Review 70:There is no lift but that helps work off the great meals.

Review 71:This is a classy hotel, on its own on the banks of the Rhine about one mile north of St Goar. The third floor junior suite is brilliant with views over Schloss Maus (Mouse Castle) opposite and also backwards towards the rail track. Ultra comfy with great bathroom that has bath and separate shower plus fridge and seating area.

Review 72:The service in the restaurant was very slow and hard to get help when you needy something. The flies were terrible. They should try some natural repele nt such as sugar water in clear baggies.

Review 73:The rooms are clean and comfortable. Being right on the river you have plenty of boats to watch while they cruise by. The terrace was a very nice place to enjoy your meals and the evening.

Review 74:One of the most expensive places we stayed during our trip; but based onlocation and proximity to the Rhine, it is probably justifiable.

Review 75:Rooms have been recently remodeled and are very nice. The rooms evenhave an air conditioner. It made the room rather comfortable consideringwe did not open the windows during the evening due to the possibility ofletting in insects (warned by the hotel). Hotel sits right on the RhineRiver. You are able to dine on the terrace and enjoy the river. Evenwith the train tracks and the road out front, it was very quiet and anenjoyable evening. They offer great German fare and wonderful wines andbeer selection. Staff was extremely friendly and spoke very goodEnglish. Also, a bit out of the town so it is not congested with thetourist traffic. Great bike/walking path outside of the hotel. They alsohave a lovely garden area for guests to enjoy.

Review 76:Comfortable room with AC. Recommend river view; very interesting to see barge traffic. Excellent breakfast and dinner at hotel restaurant on the river view terrace.

Review 77:The big part of the terrace is a childrens playground. Gives you alittle bit a ikea family feeling. Great when you have little children, not when you are without children. Waitresses could be more alert totheir guests.

Review 78:Great views on the river Rhein. Directly at the water with a greatterrace. The road is behind the hotel. Good parking facilities. Nicegarden for the guests.

Review 79:The location is beautiful - right on the Rhine. The food in the restaurant was also excellent - we had dinner and of course breakfast. I really like the atmosphere of the public rooms and the wonderful views of the Rhine from them and the terrace. I have stayed a number of time in different rooms and they have all been great.

Review 80:Our only minor complaint was that some of the reception staff were notvery friendly or helpful. There was no feeling of warmth in thereception, which was rather a pity, as otherwise the hotel was excellentall round.Of course, we had had a rather unfortunate experience when making the booking. A change of dates resulted in us being overcharged by €1000, not once but twice. This was corrected once we complained, but it still means that we just have a credit on our card, rather than a refund.

Review 81:The location was excellent, right on the River Rhine, and, as we had ourcar, the fact that it was some distance from the town was not a problem. Both the room and the catering were very good.

Review 82:I love this hotel, which is one of the few that is directly on the Rhinein the beautiful Rhine Gorge regions. It's a wonderful place to relax onthe terrace, watching the traffic on the river and soaking in the vineyard-covered hills and castles. I've stayed several times the first day Iarrive at Frankfurt, as it's a quick drive or train ride. The hotel is agreat place for day-tripping as well. The hotel is particularly budget-friendly because it has varying levels of rooms at vastly different prices. You pay more for the view of course. This place is a favorite of mine that I always recommend to friends and colleagues. I've stayed here at least 6 times over the years in at least 4 different categories of rooms and have enjoyed every stay. The innkeeper Martina is great although not all the staff is quite as friendly as they could be. Maybe it was just a bad day. The food is usually excellent as well.

Review 83:There are no screens on the guest room windows so don't open the windowsat night. The light will attract many, many flies.

Review 84:The hotel was very nice. The staff were very helpful and the rooms, clean. We had one of the best meals there one day at lunch. Thebreakfast was awesome, too. The view was awesome.

Review 85:Restaurant verygood

Review 86:views fantastic, on the Rhine, boats passing. Staff friendly. Restaurant good food and good value.

Review 87:A little out of town.

Review 88:Excellent service, english spoken very friendly staff.

Review 89:Good river view with nice terrace and restaurant.

Review 90:No separate Bar.I understand why,but still a little irritating.

Review 91:Almost everything

Review 92:The riverside view from our apartment was amazing. The food was great and it wasnt located far from town at all

Review 93:Poor aircondition

Review 94:View on the river Food

Review 95:I've really appreciated the enchanting location on the river.

Review 96:The location is perfect to visit the area. The room was big andmodern. Also the restaurant is very recommendable.

Review 97:Excellent food and a wonderful location on the Rhine.

Review 98:The accommodating staff, view of the Rhine

Review 99:The rooms, the view of the Rhine, the food and the service were excellent.

Review 100:quietly, good arrangement, wonderful look

Review 101:Dinner a little disappointing

Review 102:Wonderful flower-covered terrace directly on the Rhine Very nice host

Review 103:great location - no train tracks or roads between the hotel and the Rhine

Review 104:Very comfortable and relaxing. Food was good all personal helped and spoke English well. Great atmosphere

Review 105:Not very friendly staff. Very small bathroom

Review 106:comfortable room.
