Reviews for Romantik Hotel Schloss Rheinfels
Review 1:No tea/coffee facilities in the room and the TV was very small Wine list prices are a fantasy
Review 2:Great room overlooking the Rhine in the main building.
Review 3:bit expensive, but totally worth it.
Review 4:When you pay for this hotel you expect thing to be perfect.. And they were! Amazing views of Rhine, cozy castle themed hotel, spacious and warm rooms, great breakfast. Overall a nice experience
Review 5:Furniture in restaurant (we only had breakfast) a bit worn and dirty.
Review 6:Nice room facing the river. Attention to detail and we felt very comfortable in room. Very clean. We travelled with dog and had water bowl and blanket already in room when we arrived. Attentive and friendly staff. Fantastic location!
Review 7:For a couple going away for a romantic weekend bed should be one piece and NOT two single beds put together. Pillows were flat, towels were thin, they need to be replaced. Not very luxury at all as they advertise.
Review 8:Hotel room location over looking the river. Breakfast was phenomenal. Staff were friendly and smiling.
Review 9:Steep 17% gradient road for 1.5 km up to hotel from town (I ended up pushing my bike!). Some train noise at night from valley below.
Review 10:Lovely views from our room in the main castle part of the hotel as well as from the dining room. Very pleasant spa. Interesting visit around Rheinfels castle ruins next door.Secure storage for our bicycles. Excellent breakfast.
Review 11:No English brochures, they list satellite TV but no English TV channels. I booked a outdoor balcony room and did not receive it.
Review 12:Beautiful views, staff courteous
Review 13:After we made a dinner reservation upon our arrival, they did not have our name on their list and offered us a table in a dark corner that was set with a baby's high chair. When we asked to be seated in a more acceptable location they offered us another table in another dark corner. Then two men in shorts looking like construction workers were seated at a prominent location. They explained they were fully booked, though the place was empty. Not sure if they were simply incompetent or have a problem with Americans. We ended up dining off the property. Having lived in Germany before for 4 years, we were displeased to say the least.
Review 14:Great location.
Review 15:Long trek from Car Park and up several steps to Reception. Inadequate sign posting from Car Park although probably didn't help that there was a local festive occasion in progress. Few shady areas outside in hot weather. Night noise from railway lines below. No aircon in rooms .
Review 16:Location and views across the Rhine Valley. Restaurant meals excellent quality.
Review 17:Nothing
Review 18:The beautiful view, the breakfast was great. The pool and spa areas were so relaxing. The room was beautiful and very clean. The service was great.
Review 19:Minor quibble but the wifi was a bit of a drag to access and only available near reception.
Review 20:Spacious, comfortable, well appointed room with fabulous views matched only by those from the restaurant. Charming, friendly staff who even managed to find a charger for my phone. Excellent breakfast and dinner, a really special experience.
Review 21:We stayed in the villa, it does not really feel like staying in a castle hotel..I would say we feel more like staying in a hotel next to castle ruins.
Review 22:its clean and nice. I love their breakfast. very friendly staffs
Review 23:Stunning views over the Rheine from both my room and from the breakfast room. The included breakfast buffet was one of the best I've seen. My room was an apartment that would also have been very suitable to a family.
Review 24:That part of Hotel in the old castle does not include an elevator. For disabled or senior guests or like us with a lot of baby accessories, the best part of hotel was not that comfortable!
Review 25:Everything except what I am writing below.
Review 26:*not being informed before arrival that the 1km road from town up to hotel was being dug up and meant a £30 taxi fare on a 20km excursion. *being put in modern 'villas' when we were expecting an historic castle room. *fact that our room was not set up for all the family members on the booking.
Review 27:*the swimming pool & wellness centre. *the restaurant views and food. *the breakfast
Review 28:good location with a beautiful castle. good breakfast. what's important is when we check out, they said that our room is not the same as we booked(which we do not konw) and reduce our bill. they are honest and helpful. we like to come again.
Review 29:Everything. The food was fantastic: lunch in the pub, dinner in the restaurant with a window view of the Rhine, and breakfast. Staff was very helpful and accomodating (including sending my daughter he coat she forgot). My daughters loved being able to have free run of the attached castle - exploring every inch of the place.
Review 30:Cigarette machine in hall.
Review 31:Stunning location. Wonderful river views. Nice pool. Excellent breakfast.
Review 32:room not very confortable. poor value for money
Review 33:view from restaurant + breakfast
Review 34:some staff in the restaurant are not patience enough to serve the customers!
Review 35:the view is very beautiful!
Review 36:Lovely hotel with great views over the Rhine.
Review 37:A beautiful hotel in a very unique location. Great facility built into an old castle. Incredible views. Great service.
Review 38:The views of the Rhine were tremendous and coupled with everything done for our comfort made an enjoyable experience at this hotel.
Review 39:We had a beautiful, quiet room with a comfortable bed. Dinner at the restaurant was excellent. The staff was very nice and welcoming.
Review 40:A dream vacation and destination
Review 41:Everything: staff, location, view, food, pMo
Review 42:Rooms in other building
Review 43:Welness center The Restaurant with the view
Review 44:Everything
Review 45:Facilities, view, location, ambiance and friendly staff!
Review 46:The view, the restaurant, our room with balcony and view if Rhine
Review 47:distance between main hotel and sub hotel is a little far.
Review 48:wonderful view, delicious breakfast, staff are very kind.
Review 49:the scenery there is very beautiful, the staff are very helpful and nice. i wish i could have stayed there longer.
Review 50:Wow! The view, the service, the food, the facilities, the history, the location.
Review 51:The staff at the restaurant were not kids friendly
Review 52:The hotel it self and the views were amazing.
Review 53:21 steps to receptionist, no air conditioning, staff poorly trained in services, very very very noisy, over train tracks, truck traffic, casual restaurant very poor selection of food. Would not recommend this hotel.
Review 54:castle hotel unique
Review 55:Lack of elevator to 200 - 204 area rooms.
Review 56:Great views of the Rhine River and St. Goar from both the room and the restaurant. Comfortable rooms and very good restaurant.
Review 57:This hotel was fabulous! The staff was so attentive and nice. Our room was beautiful with awesome views. Breakfast was delicious. Everything about this hotel was top notch! It was the highlight of our Germany vacation!
Review 58:Yes, it is a splurge, but it so worth it to be on the grounds of the stunning castle in the wonderful atmosphere they offer. We were in the building they refer to as the villa's which is a large, pleasant building a minutes walk away from reception. We loved the very big room with balcony. The view of the Rhine and the town was wonderful, you cannot ask for a better view. I sat on the balcony in the evening for an hour to unwind watching the river traffic and trains. The room was comfortable and very clean. Comfortable bed with nice bedding. Two chairs in the room make it a nice place to rest between outings. We had dessert and coffee that evening and enjoyed the restaurant and the staff. The next morning breakfast was very good with a wide variety of items to choose from, everything fresh and flavorful. We toured the castle before leaving and will remember our time visiting the Rhine.
Review 59:Magical! Probably best for couples in need of romantic weekend away but even traveling alone I felt like a princess, hotel is actually in a castle! View from the balcony - priceless! Great breakfast buffet and helpful personal.
Review 60:We could feel the history of the castle and yet it was a first rate hotel and the food was excellent! They even have a castle Ghost who shines your shoes in the middle of the night.
Review 61:The views from the hotel were awesome and the gourmet menu met our full expectations! We will surely be repeat customers to this fabulous Romantic castle-hotel.
Review 62:many of the rooms are in modern annex - business/student style rooms in a victorian building - fell well below expectations from the description Effectively it's a hotel next to a castle, rather than a castle hotel. too many adverts everywhere
Review 63:breakfast, friendly staff
Review 64:Three of us dined at the very nice restaurant. The waiter did not ask if I wanted dessert, but brought it for the other two (who had the prix fixe dinner). I told him I may be interested in dessert, and he begrudgingly brought me the menu when the other two were almost finished eating their desserts. By then, I told him I didn't want to order it. He seemed very annoyed and left us with an unpleasant feeling.
Review 65:This was my second trip here. It is right next to Schloss Rheinfels and has a spectacular view of the Rhine.
Review 66:Our room in the annex was superb with a balcony and a stunning view. However, we saw at least six spiders!
Review 67:Spectacular views of the Rhine and loved touring the adjacent castle.
Review 68:Everything is great until we went to dinner on the 2nd night of ourstay. We experienced, at best, extremely bad service, or at worst, acase of racism. The day we arrived, the receptionist asked if we wouldlike to eat the hotel restaurant. We wanted to make a reservation thatnight but since there were no more window seats we decided to make areservation for the next night. The receptionist told us that every dayat 11am they plan out reservations for that night. So the next day at11am we made a reservation for a window table for that night. But whenwe went there at night, the seater seated us by the only half-windowtable, while there were at least 4 window tables open. We were not ableto sit at a window table even though we followed the hotel directionsand reserved a window table at the instructed time. The seater alsocould not cared a bit when we tried to further explain, all she said wasthat the other tables are all reserved. My wife and I didn't want tomake a scene so we left in protest. Even when we were leaving, theseater seemed that she couldn't care less if we had left.I don't take the racism charge lightly, but that's in the back of my mind given we were the only non-Caucasian at the restaurant. However, this may very well be an individual incident. We also eat breakfast at the hotel restaurant for 2 days and the service was great, so I feel this may very well be an isolated incident whether it was extremely bad service or racism.
Review 69:This is a great property, pretty much right inside the castle, with anabsolutely magnificent view of the Rhine. Truly a one of kindexperience.
Review 70:It is on the top pf mountain, so the traffic is brutal. Good restaurants are scarce. .
Review 71:We felt fully relaxed. We started our day out with a good breakfast, specially omelette.
Review 72:We stayed at this hotel 8 members. It was first time for my friends to stay this hotel and all of them were very happy to stay here. It was quite wonderful experience to stay old castle hotel like this.
Review 73:The room did not have WiFi though there was free internet connection in the room and free WiFi in the lobby/common rooms.
Review 74:The views were beautiful, the room was very comfortable with an excellent area for the third bed, and the included breakfast was excellent.
Review 75:We had dinner in the restaurant (because there were also no many optionsaround) and it was not cheap and it took very very long to get a seat(even though we had reserved) and to get served. Some more informationabout the facitilites of the hotel and about what other things one coulddo around the castle would have been unseful.
Review 76:Breakfast was great. Swimming pool and Sauna facilities are not huge butgood to spend some relaxing time. Location and views are superb.
Review 77:The bed was so uncomfortable. The blanket, if you want to call it that, was a little bigger than a sleeping bag size (zipped up) and there was no sheet. So if you're tall, well then your feet would stick out the bottom. Also, the pillows were filled with...air... so terribly uncomfortable. I didn't sleep half the night because I couldn't get comfortable. Which is a shame because we were staying a night away from our toddler for a break and a good night's sleep. Also, the "pub" wasn't open and didn't have a sign as to why. It was a Saturday night in March. This was something we were looking forward to and was disappointed that it was closed.
Review 78:It was a very nice facility and the restaurant was delicious. The breakfast was superb, also.
Review 79:Excellent service and accommodations. The staff was very tolerant of our three young children. The scenery was outstanding as were the rooms, meals, and restaurant. Office was prepared for our arrival.
Review 80:It wasn't obvious from our booking that our room would be in the'annex', but they offered to upgrade us if we wanted a main hotel room(but no balcony) so we took the annex. No problem.
Review 81:We were booked for 1 night and added 1 night, since it was so great. Hadlarge, elegant room with balcony over the Rhine. Wonderful breakfasts, and dinners in the hotel. Was hard to leave it to go sightseeing. Worththe splurge.
Review 82:Very slow check in and out (took half and hour to escape with just one party in front of us).
Review 83:Lovely hotel in the grounds of the castle - fabulous views of the Rhine from our room, the main restaurant and the outside bar.
Review 84:uncomfortable pillows making sleeping harder than it should be. Has nobody heard of duck down in Germany?
Review 85:Superb location, incredible view from the restaurant, wonderful food and wine, great breakfast, excellent staff,
Review 86:not all rooms are in the main building. We stayed in the separate building which is also nice with amzing views and only 3 min away from the main building.
Review 87:The SPA area is great. Plus the nice little Pub.
Review 88:Our experience was that the service in the bar area was slow and the young lady who took our order was not friendly, although this was made up for by the young man behind the bar who was very pleasant. My daughter and I would have liked better quality shower gels and shampoo in the shower room as the products supplied felt harsh.
Review 89:The location is superb with the most wonderful views of the Rhine rift valley. The buildings are atmospheric and tastefully furnished, apart from the art which is Kitch and out of keeping. The receptionist who was on duty the evening we arrived was extremely pleasant and very helpful and was able to provide us with a cable to connect and our laptop to the internet, as WIFI is only available in the public area. The tables in the bar area and the breakfast area are perfectly situated for taking in the stunning views by day or night! Overall we did enjoy our stay and wished it was for longer.
Review 90:Food in the terrace was good, but main dining was not so classy as expected. Hotel should provide shuttle service.
Review 91:Castle sites next to the hotel was very interesting. Room had very nice terrace overlooking the Rhine River.
Review 92:We cannot stay at main building of castle, we don't know the reason why. There are many fries in restaurant. Only the staff at restaurant is very good.
Review 93:The lady server in the restaurant is too slow in action. Always disappeared. We have reserved a table in the restaurant 4 weeks before but another server just let another guest to choose our reserved table. That is no internal communication. On the whole, the restaurant is ok with a splendid Rheingau River View
Review 94:The superb room with double sided balcony! The receptionist is very attentive to reserve the best room of the castle for us! The food in the restaurant is ok but the view is superb!
Review 95:Hotel advertises elevator. However elevator does not go to the reallygood rooms with a view, and this can be a real challenge for guests withorthopedic problems.
Review 96:Beautiful location. Gorgeous scenery. Good food and service, reasonablypriced for what you get. Very pleasant staff who are eager to make yourstay pleasant.
Review 97:Unable to take advantage of the castle ruins due to schedule (open at11a, after we were planning on leaving).
Review 98:Location, location, location! A lovely hotel in a lovely spot.Incredible views. And a hotel with everything you could want. Very niceroom with all amenities. Lovely view with breakfast (and a very generousbreakfast at that - server even brought baggies for lunch-pack), or adrink on the terrace.
Review 99:As there is no elevator, you must walk up or down many stairs to reachyour room. But it's a fun!
Review 100:Excellent Rhein view from our room. Staffs were friendly and helpful.
Review 101:Unfortunately the castle ruins were closed for winter, the cafe and giftshop were closed as well for the season.
Review 102:Staff were very professional and pleasant, and food service wasexcellent.
Review 103:Can't think of anything I am very picky
Review 104:It was so beautiful there looking down at St. Guor when was the last time you stayed in a castle
Review 105:The staff and the meals were very enjoyable and elegent.
Review 106:Fantastic location
Review 107:Entrance (off the road) a little confusing to find. No lift is a drawback.
Review 108:Stunning location. Friendly staff.
Review 109:beautiful view from balcony and terrace, comfortable room, wonderful breakfast and must try restaurant for dinner even you don't stay.
Review 110:Rooms way too hot.....lots of noise from trains down in valley..
Review 111:Great food,great views.
Review 112:Great staff, great hotel, fantastic location. We had a wonderful stay, and will definitely be back.
Review 113:beds
Review 114:view
Review 115:No air conditioning. Very loud at night.
Review 116:Wonderful restaurant with incredible view. The castle portion of the hotel was incredible to explore.
Review 117:This hotel was everything we hoped for. The view from the attached villa is to die for.
Review 118:Slow service
Review 119:View from the room
Review 120:The weather
Review 121:Location , friendly English speaking staff, food.
Review 122:No negative comments
Review 123:A romantic place to stay with a great view of the Rhine Valley and theold castle to explore.
