Reviews for Ydes Budget Hotel
Review 1:We booked a room for four people that was in reality, a tiny room with two single beds and a tiny sofa that we could unfold for the 2 other persons. In general, the room was not very clean and the bathroom neither. The general atmosphere was that the place was old and roten.
Review 2:It seems as though there are smoking rooms and non-smoking rooms in the same corridor. The whole second floor corridor stank of smoke, and the stench even leaked into my non-smoking room. Even though us non-smokers appear to be in minority in Denmark (as in France and the Balkans), it is as unneccessary as it is stupid to have smoking and non-smoking rooms in the same corridor.
Review 3:Good location and friendly staff (via video screen)
Review 4:Cleanliness left a lot to be desired. There was waste left on the floor behind the wastebin, and two decorative pillows were left on top of a cupboard that had not been cleaned for quite some time. We would probably never have found out, had not the maid decided to leave these two pillows on our bed on day 2. It is indeed amazing that the maid did not notice the major stains on the pillow left by dust and dirt from the top of the cupboard and, what is more, did not notice how said dust and dirt virtually coloured our linen grey when she dumped them on the bed. Moreover, someone in our corridor decided it was a good idea to smoke in his or her room, although it is a non-smoking hotel. Consequently, the whole corridor reeked of smoke, which also spilled into our room. The staff ensured us, via the video screen, that they would see to the matter, but whoever the smoking guest was, he or she continued to smoke for the duration of our stay. I would expect the staff to investigate such matters more thoroughly, being as it was more than a mere nuisance.
Review 5:Location is good, in what can perhaps be called Odense's "hotel block", some 400 metres from the main railway station. Staff is friendly, although you only communicate with them via a video screen.
Review 6:Price a little higher than expected, but it's Denmark.
Review 7:You check-in by talking to a video screen on a machine to a receptionist at another hotel down the street. It takes a little getting used to, but the staff were nice and helpful.
Review 8:Bathroom was a fairly tight squeeze but otherwise no complaints. A nice hotel and very well priced.
Review 9:Very well located, close to the centre of the city but on a nice quiet street.
Review 10:Interesting check-in process. Everything was done online through a webcam. If I compare this hotel to the airline industry I would say that it was like flying with a no frill budget airline. It was a very simple, straight forward hotel at a budget with no frills. Basically it's good if you're only looking for a place to crash.
Review 11:Nothing!
Review 12:Great to be able to phone the desk late in the evening when we arrived at the locked entrance and have immediate access to the beautiful foyer to sit down and to register and receive our access card via a machine that had a personal contact screen. Great working technology. Then the room was very pretty with simple styling, lovely white linen, nice big windows and view even though small. Super staff and no trouble getting shower drain fixed after a small blockage made the floor wet in the bathroom. Was fixed in the morning. Very happy to be able to extend stay 2 nites for my husband to recover from a bad cold caught while travelling.
Review 13:The room was a little small and the beds too
Review 14:Interesting check in - it's done through talking to someone on a computer screen! The internet connection was really fast too.
Review 15:room a bit cramped for 4 adults but still ok for budget hotel!
Review 16:modern room complete facilities big shared kitchen/dining/lounge at ground floor
Review 17:Minor detail and very picky, but the showerhead in our bathroom were fixed to the pipe, wich might annoy someone. Our window was also hard to open, and when we finally got it open, the thing that was supposed to keep it open was crooked, so the window shut again. This might not have bothered me in winter, but the room was very hot in the summer.
Review 18:Rooms, beds, location and facilities (the ability to cook your own food in the kitchen). The staff is also nice.
Review 19:We've got the key from the room which was not cleaned, had a dirtybed linen etc, when we came back to the video-machine to talk toreceptionist in another building, we've got another key with words"could you please go and check this room, maybe it is cleaned upalready" like that is our job to check the rooms! It was at 13.40(check-in time is 13.00). We had to wait about 20-25 minutes in thekitchen. Not a big deal one might say, but really unpleasant to start aweekend like that.Overall, cleanliness is not good at all, both bathroom and bed could be prepared more carefully.
Review 20:Location
Review 21:There isn't reception, just a machine. The room is very small. Breakfest is in an other hotel, ca. 200 meter and very simple, small choice. It is very expensive so...
Review 22:We saw one single person working for the hotel and that was house keeping. People are left to make food and clean after themselves which created a bit of a mess in the kitchen. No fridge in the room, only a small one in the kitchen downstairs. It was uncomfortable that the staff was completele replaced by cameras everywhere, it felt like being in an episode og Big Brother. It said free breakfast, but I have no idea where it was... certainly not in our hotel, and the information booklet did not specify where to find it.
Review 23:I loved the location. I know the city well, and chose this hotel as I knew it was located directly in the city centre. Plenty of parking in the area.
Review 24:I saw no staff during my stay. The breakfast was good but it was served in another location away from the hotel.
Review 25:The hotel was quite clean. The location was quite convenient for the railway station.
Review 26:Did not like toilet facilities.Toilet and wash hand basin in shower? Not good. Breakfast could improve, not much variety and serving area is very poor.
Review 27:I liked the friendliness of the staff. Bed was comfortable. I thought the auto receptionist was a good idea as I never seen this before. Overall good value for money.
Review 28:It's a budget hotel, so no staff on arrival but with video connect to helpful check-in. Room was tiny, no room around bed with small bathroom. Poor choice & quality at breakfast. That's all fine & no problem with any of it - had the room been half the price it was.
Review 29:Good location near the train station with easy access to city centre. Very quiet. Everything compact if not quite bijou.
Review 30:Nice staff, but too few - and difficult to get contact with. I was situated in another/annex building and the contact to reception was through an impersonal "skype"machine, sometime not working! Wi-Fi, but not a pc/Laptop to borrow! Runo, Oslo
Review 31:Free selfservice for coffee and tea.
Review 32:No kitchen facilities to cook your own meals
Review 33:We were upgraded from a dorm room to a twin room which was a nice surprise! The beds were very comfy and the location was great as it was really close to the city centre,
Review 34:The rooms are small, but that is exaclty what you pay for: A bed, a shower and a TV. The "virtual check in" is not great, but english is very well spoken by the operator and you can visit the main hotel building if you need anything else.
Review 35:Good location near the train station. Clean and tidy. Good wifi. Kitchen and some snacks available. Price is OK (for Denmark). Common area is nice. Would not reccomend it for long stays, but it is perfect if you have just one or two nights.
Review 36:The check-in procedure, using a screen; it was difficult to understand how to get to our room and, when we did, we had to go outside and stand on a milk crate to get into it. There was a lot of building work going on outside and graffiti on the headboard.
Review 37:The fact that we could have our dog in the room with us. The room and bathroom were clean.
Review 38:it was all automate! There was a machine in the hotel which you could use to check in and check out, amazing!
Review 39:Very basic.
Review 40:Good location. Cheap(ish)
Review 41:To be greeted by a machine instead of a real person. Parking is awful. room very average and boring.
Review 42:Very good location, spot on. Clean.
Review 43:Room space too small and wifi signal in the room is too weak.
Review 44:It is not a real hotel.
Review 45:Convenience. It is a short walk to the station and city. Staff did well in the circumstances.
Review 46:Great location, close to station and centre of Odense attractions. Very comfortable and clean room. Good wifi.
Review 47:Very small beds - you hear every noise, parking situation
Review 48:It was clean
Review 49:The location of the hotel, the bed.
Review 50:Location to harbour very convenient, also to main streets in city
Review 51:Wifi should be improve
Review 52:Skype check-in it's cool. And room are cozy and clean.
Review 53:that everything was NOT in person but by a computer
Review 54:the location
Review 55:Change of room to a room in the cellar with a window not able to firmly close, and no light beside the bed.
Review 56:Everything was O.K.
Review 57:Staff,location of hotel, possibility to have tea or coffee in the lobby.
Review 58:Elevator, decent size room copared to other hotels in Odense. Big bathroom. Non-stop check-in.
Review 59:Sheer curtains on the windows would be an improvement
Review 60:The hotel and the room ware proper and quiet. The conversation with the receptionist took place over video, but it was effective. Personnaly I liked this idea and it worked without problems.
Review 61:There is no on-site personnel - you are greeted with a video. Hard to understand how to get into the building! The machine would not accept our credit card (USA) and we had to find cash to feed the funky machine. Strange elevator.
Review 62:Small, but clean rooms.
Review 63:The staff was very helpful. We were upgraded to the property next door and the lounge was very impressive --- interesting decor and free tea/coffee etc all day. I rarely hang out in the hotel lounges but in this case we did.
Review 64:The virtual reception was a bit strange, especially as the guy who checked us in wasn't too friendly (a simple hello and good night would have been nice) and keen on sharing the information about the hotel. There was no hair drier in the bathroom.
Review 65:The hotel is located in ca 10 minutes walk from the train station. Also, very close to the city centre, restaurants and bars. Our room was a bit small, but clean and quiet.
Review 66:It's a sparse, no-frills hotel that is comfortable, affordable and well-located. The virtual check-in was interesting but easy to use. I booked at the very last minute as all trains out of this city were cancelled due to a big storm. It's a 5 minute walk to the center and 5 from the train station. The center is lovely.
Review 67:We were given room 25 which is near the court yard. The hotel room is accessible via card key. However, the sensor device is spoilt and we have to go to a nearby hotel to collect the manual key as there is no one managing the reception counter. Because the room is near the courtyard, bees were found in our toilet. Thank goodness we managed to change to another room which is facing away from the courtyard.
Review 68:Location and free wifi
Review 69:There was no hair-dryer in the bathroom and the breakfast buffet was not very abundant in terms of variety
Review 70:The hotel is in a very good position; the room was very quite.
Review 71:The family room was too small for us, the sofa bed for the children was really small and not comfortable. We haven't found inside the room all the bed linens and towels we needed. Moreover I can' t say the room was really clean.
Review 72:The hotel is close to city center's pedestrian area full of shops and restaurants.
Review 73:Parking announced as service is not true. You have to park on the street and pay for it. If you get there late you may not find a parking spot! Wifi key wasnt supplied by the staff, when trying to call reception (as advertised in the papers you find in the room), THERE WAS NOT A PHONE!! Free coffee and fruit announced, also not given. For almost 90€ a night was really disappointing.
Review 74:Comfrotable bed. Extra bed was in the room even if not asked for (dont know if this is good or bad)
Review 75:Somewhat difficult to check in "virtually" (no actual reception at the hotel) especially as the credit card payment was a pain due to technical problems.
Review 76:Sewer smell coming through toilet as a result of old pipes. No lightbulb in bathroom. Internet took all day to reset after outage becausemanagement is off-site. Other tenants smoking in rooms despite no-smoking policy.
Review 77:Price, proximity to train station.
Review 78:a cleaning man, of Indian/Pakistani origin, entered the room without knocking on the door, and was extremely rude to our small children; since the hotel has no staff there was nobody to complain to immediately
Review 79:It's a sparse, no-frills hotel that is comfortable, affordable and well-located. The virtual check-in was interesting and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
Review 80:-hauling large suitcase to Domir and back because the card did not work for payment at Ydes -boiling water for tea under the desk since no other power outlet worked with the kettle´s short cord
Review 81:very quiet nice shower clean room water-kettle, iron, dryer in room
Review 82:Rooms are very small: in a room for 2 they put 4 people, also bathroom is too small.
Review 83:It's in a good position, near to centre of odense. It have a diversified breakfast (tea, coffee, milk, yougurt, bread, eggs, tomatoes..)

Review 93:There was no facilities at the room. The room was super small. It was expensive compared the quality of the room
