Reviews for Hotel Canet
Review 1:The shower water was not very warm. In fact it was almost cold so we had to shower quickly and in discomfort.
Review 2:The staff were very friendly and the hotel was perfectly located in the centre by an old church. The views from the roof terrace breakfast area were spectacular and the pool area was also incredibly beautiful and relaxing, set in an old convent nearby.
Review 3:Evening meal expensive and nothing special... May be better to eat elsewhere. However breakfast was excellent and bar was charming in the evening.
Review 4:Lovely family room with jacuzzi. Gorgeous shower room with twin sinks. We loved the pool! Peaceful warm slightly salty water, terrific surroundings. Breakfast on terrace good with wonderful views. We also liked the town allot.
Review 5:Nice hotel away from the crowds at the beaches but still within close distance. The staff was very friendly and helpful, nice breakfast was served on the roof top terrace. The pool is nearby in a nice, quiet garden. We also enjoyed a couple of dinners at the hotel restaurant, good food and huge portions. We can highly recommend a stay at this hotel!
Review 6:The beds - horribly soft, too short for me to fit into (under 1.80m tall) The airco - it did not work, but that was negated by staff ("it is the same in all the rooms and nobody complains")
Review 7:The rooftop view during breakfast was nice. The location in a pittoresk village.
Review 8:The breakfast was ok, but it would be nice if more fresh fruit was available. It is served on the rooftop and it would be nice to sit outside and enjoy the views over breakfast, but sadly spoilt by all the people who feel a need to start their day with a cigarette. There is not much the hotel can do about this though and the same all over Europe...
Review 9:Lovely hotel beautifully located in the centre of Castello d'Empuries, a pretty old town with a great history and attractive old streests and buildings. Private parking was good. The swimming pool is a lovely feature just a very short walk from the hotel. Friendly and helpful staff and a nice restaurant. We had a family suite in the annexe and it was just lovely - renovated with marble and very spacious with super air con to cool down. Altogether a lovely place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the coast, yet near the sea and other great attractions like Figueres. Great ice cream place just around the corner from the hotel too. Would definitely choose to stay here again.
Review 10:The pool area was very nice, but the water was not that refreshing. Maybe not clean enough, but adequate.
Review 11:Good value for the money. Very professional management.
Review 12:Not much to say, beds could be more comfortable.
Review 13:Breakfast on the 4th floor terrace with views over the old town is truly memorable. The little town is a great base to explore the area, and is interesting itself. Staff were friendly, the room was fine, with a balcony overlooking the square on which the hotel is situated. The hotel restaurant is good value with delicious food.
Review 14:Nothing to dislike
Review 15:Good airy clean rooms, wi fi that works well. All staff at reception and restaurant were helpful and friendly. The pool was delightful a 5 minute walk away in a private cloister . Breakfast was taken on tne rooftop, good buffet style breakfast, fresh bread and croissants and never ending coffee. Good inexpensive restaurant. Restful stay and everything worked smoothly from check in to check out.
Review 16:Did not dislike anything.
Review 17:A very pretty location, staff very friendly good service and good food. Very clean and a very comfortable stay. Would recommend for a quiet stay.
Review 18:The hotel debited my credit card when I booked in May. I was then asked to pay again when we stayed in August. All the paperwork from Booking.com confirmed this when I looked at the smaller print- pay at the hotel. As I didn 't have my credit card Statement I could N't prove this. Still trying to get the overcharged amount refunded 10 days later!
Review 19:Nice Little town, hotel is good value for money if you only get charged once.
Review 20:We had the quadrople suite on the first floor above the bar, restaurant and square. It was very noisy untill very very late. No peace and rest there. Maybe on the higher floors there is less noise. Will probably not stay in this hotel again but wil visit the restaurant.
Review 21:Good location to visit other places. The restaurant has delicious food. Great service and value for money.
Review 22:Can't be faulted
Review 23:Rooms were good with basic facilities and very clean. The staff were very good and professional. Food was excellent and very good value. The pool, although a short walk away, was lovely. Thoroughly recommended.
Review 24:Nothing
Review 25:The location - in the middle of the old centre of Castello d'Empuries The clean, modern rooms Breakfast on the roof The swimming pool in the separate Convent The helpful manager
Review 26:The hotel is a bit hard to find when getting there the first time. The AC in our room was a bit weak.
Review 27:Castello d'Empuries is a small town with a wonderful atmosphere, unlike tourist resorts of Costa Brava. The staff at the hotel is very attentive and helpful. Excellent restaurant at the hotel for ending a day of travel with a great meal. Breakfast is served on the roof with a wonderful view. The pool is in a most beautiful setting - at the inner yard of what used to be a convent.
Review 28:Our room had a shower enclosure that opens directly to the main part of the room, the sink in the actual bedroom and just the toilet was separate with a door. This felt awkward but we managed with it. The cleanliness could have been a tiny bit better. The breakfast was, as per the Spanish norm it seems, quite poor - all processed foods from low cost supermarkets, nothing cooked and the only things fresh were the tomatoes and the peaches. Pity as the rooftop terrace is a great place to start the day.
Review 29:The location - both within the village and in the local area - is really good. It is a few minutes drive from the coast and other small towns and villages of interest in the area. The hotel is renovated and all the staff are really nice. Although the amenities are towards the basic side the reality and feel are not of a 2-star hotel. The hotel restaurant serves some really nice meals for a reasonable price. Overall, it was great value for money considering the prices and offer in the area.
Review 30:Lack of wifi reception in the room, and no safe .
Review 31:Clean modern rooms. Rooftop breakfast place. Helpful reception staff. Good restaurant . Well run hotel in a nice quiet part of time.
Review 32:Good location with secure parking. The swimming pool is in a lovely setting and the rooftop area where breakfast is served gives extensive views over the town and surrounding area. The restaurant served good value food in their Menu Del Dias
Review 33:Nothing!
Review 34:Our room at the front of the hotel was amazing. We were given a family suite. It was enormous & very comfortable. Great swimming pool in very pretty setting a short distance from the hotel next to the secure car park. Breakfast included in price & offered a lot more choice than usually found in a continental breakfast.
Review 35:Our room was a bit small.
Review 36:Staff was extremely helpful, professional and warm. Rooms simple and clean. Food was delicious and service was good. Look forward to staying here again sometime.
Review 37:The hotel is ideally located, quiet etc
Review 38:Ver clean and big family room. Pool area very clean and not crowded at all.
Review 39:Tot ere fantastic
Review 40:Comfort of bed
Review 41:Location
Review 42:The shower. The water temperature is not stable.
Review 43:Location. Happened to see the Easter event right in front of the hotel.
Review 44:the Coffee wasn't great and breakfast was a bit sparse
Review 45:The views and the pool
Review 46:That the swimming poolarea is not at the hotel.
Review 47:The lounge and the good services
Review 48:Very nice location. Hotel new restored. Breakfast very good and were served on roof terrace. The staff was very friendly. Everything was good.
Review 49:Loved the apartment we had- very clean, Gucci and well stocked. Loved the a/c. Pool was fabulous in a courtyard with lemon and lime trees.
Review 50:We had booked for 1 night and stayed for 8!!!! Very accommodating in every way.
Review 51:The shower was a little difficult due to the positioning of the shower head.
Review 52:The town/village was really lovely.
Review 53:Nothing.
Review 54:We almost didn't book because of only two stars but read the reviews and booked anyway. The location was great for the daytrips we made (Dali), the town cute and with good restaurants. (not too many but enough). The pool was very nice, parking safe. Breakfast with wonderful views! Hotel was quiet and clean. The staff was excellent. Give this hotel more stars!
Review 55:1. Tie-up with local transport agencies like two wheelers / scooters 2. For vegetarians, may be there is a need to have more options than soups and breads.
Review 56:The staff was very supportive and understanding. The location was perfect as well.
Review 57:Room was great. Had a separate room for the kids which is hard to find. Breakfast was really good and beds were comfortable. This is not a two star hotel! It should be higher
Review 58:The restaurant was ok but not very inspiring.
Review 59:The swimming pool is fantastic. Very kind personnel. We had a renvated room, very spacious, with own balcony. Superb view.
Review 60:Nothing. The place is perfect. Wish we could stay longer.
Review 61:The staff was very nice and helpful. The facility is amazing, with everything you need. The room was spotless. Don't miss dinner !!!! And to top in off, the breakfast on the terrace with the view ....
Review 62:Huge room - had booked a quad and essentially it was a 2 bedroom suite. Very comfy beds, excellent (well priced) dinner in the restaurant. Staff friendly and helpful. Peaceful location, minimal traffic due to narrow streets. Walking distance to range of cafes, bars, restaurants, quaint historic sites and play parks for the kids. Prison well worth a visit too.
Review 63:The hospitality and friendliness and the attention to detail. Food and service excellent, in fact perfect for our short stay. We will be back next Spring.
Review 64:The fact that there was no soap or toiletries in the bedroom and they did not provide towels for their swimming pool. ALSO there was a poor selection for breakfast.
Review 65:The location
Review 66:Lovely swimming pool and beautiful surroundings but too many flies on the day we were there, but the only dislike we can come up with in a 2 day stay
Review 67:Fabulous family room for 4 of us - amazing jacuzzi and plenty of space Roof terrace for breakfast simply stunning
Review 68:Loved the medieval town, it was a peaceful haven from the busy resorts on the coast. Great location to visit other places. We had accommodation in the hotel annex, which was really more of an apartment, it was fantastic for us. We went to the restaurant several times, service is excellent, food consistently good. As every says breakfast on the terrace is great.
Review 69:Had excellent stay, and would fully recommend as a base for the area. Staff very friendly, flexible and attentive and dealt with problem we had without hesitation or quibble. Hotel restaurant competitive and good quality and we used it a number of times. Pool was a bonus for the area and was never overly busy.
Review 70:What a pleasant surprise! Great room, great service, wonderful food options, pool, and no better breakfast and rooftop tables from which we ate, scanned the countryside and watched storks fly by. Simply splendid. Easy access to beach, Cadaqués, Figueres, and wonderful eating establishments. Perfect Spanish experience.
Review 71:Got a triple room and a single room. The big one was awesome, but the single one was very small, darkish and with no views.
Review 72:Location. Views from the room and the breakfast terrace. Swimming pool.
Review 73:Food and service in the hotel restaurant was generally good but my steak was tough.
Review 74:Staff were very friendly. Clean and modern rooms. Breakfast location on the top floor with views of the mountains was brilliant. Central location. Very good value for money. Own car parking nearby.
Review 75:I was hoping to go swimming in the beautiful pool but it is not adjacent to the hotel and the weather was a bit chilly...so I didn't make the effort of walking there and back.
Review 76:The room on the fourth floor was wonderful with comfortable beds, a spacious bathroom, and a balcony. The restaurant was very good...great to come back there after a day of driving out to Cap de Creus to explore the geology .
Review 77:As previous visitors on a number of occasions, the proprietor, his family and long-serving staff treat us a friends. Breakfasting on the roof terrace on a sunny morning is an unforgettable experience. The restaurant serves wonderful Catalan food and if you don't mind a restricted choice, the menu del dia is excellent value. First-timers should be aware that the hotel's location in the mediaeval heart of the town may make it difficult to find.
Review 78:There is nothing to dislike.
Review 79:We liked everything about Hotel Canet. This was our second stay and will certainly not be the last. Our thanks go to Jaime and his dedicated employees.
Review 80:Unfortunately only one flavour of jam at breakfast- good if you like peach!!
Review 81:The hotel was in an excellent location only 5 mins from the sea and with a terrific swimming pool in an fascinating place- the old local monastery. The room was a very good size for a large family of four, with two seperate bedrooms and excellent bathroom and other facilities. The breakfasts were also good and served on a stunning balcony overlooking the town and bay- more like a four star...
Review 82:NothiI loved the Hotel Canet because it was welcoming, friendly, clean and well appointed and our room was lovely. Nice and modern with a really comfortable bed. The Restaurant had a great menu with some lovely Catalan dishes and food was of a good standard served by very efficient friendly staff. We stayed two weeks and enjoyed every moment.
Review 83:Soap and shower gel could be refilled more often. More shade on the roof terrace and/or air conditioning in the breakfast room is recommended.
Review 84:Probably the best restaurant in town. Amazing view from the roof terrace, although some more shade up there would be appreciated. Pool in a beautiful ancient monastery. Nice staff. Big rooms. Outstanding location, Castello d' Empuries is definitely one of the nicest towns in that region.
Review 85:We stayed for two weeks and loved every day, The atmosphere is relaxed, friendly and efficient and the Hotel beautifully kept. We will be returning.
Review 86:The owner and staff are very friendly. The whole hotel and the the roomsare very clean, breakfast with cheese, sausage, marmelade and all whatyou need. A highlight were the dinners: Menue in 4 languages, bestquality of the food and drinks. Here is nothing to make better. Myrecommendation! Swimming pool also useable.
Review 87:Quiet location and in a small town with a good bus link to Figueres andRoses. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Breakfast is a basic continentalwhich can be eaten on a rooftop terrace with good views. The restaurantserves a good choice of food and is always busy. There are localrestaurants within easy walking distance. The hotel pool is a short walkaway located in a secluded spot. Great area for cycling, there is alocal bar that rents bike by the hour. A good hotel for those seeking aquiet time but within easy reach of the beaches and coves of Roses.
Review 88:Polyester/cotton sheet; no staff in hotel after 10.30pm
Review 89:Friendly and good-humoured staff; fourth floor breakfast terrace with views over countryside; central location;
Review 90:The Hotel is situated in a quiet medieval town and has secure parking nearby. It was very clean throughout and was undergoing further painting and decorating during our stay. The owners are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is basic but adequate. We ate there in the evenings and the food was exceptional value for money.
Review 91:Friendly staff, excellent location in walled town with good restaurants and easy access to beaches and the coast.
Review 92:there is a free parking place, 100m from the hotel.
