Hindsgavl Slot descritpion

This charming waterfront castle overlooks the picturesque Fænø Sound and Little Belt Strait, in Middelfart. It features a peaceful, setting in green surroundings. Wi-Fi internet and bike rentals are free.
A TV and tea/coffee facilities are standard at Hindsgavl Slot. Many rooms have elegant, classic décor. Others are in the converted neighboring stables and have exposed brick walls and stylish, modern furnishings.
The in-house restaurant is Den Hvide Dame, or 'The White Lady'. Although named after a ghost that apparently still roams Hindsgavl’s grounds, guests will not be spooked by the cuisine. The dishes are made from fresh, seasonal ingredients picked in the hotel's herb garden.
Fredericia town center is within 6 miles of the property, and central Odense is a 45-minute drive away.

Reviews for Hindsgavl Slot

Review 1:The bathroom was a part of the room itself. But the toilet was with door, however very little (better if door was opening out).

Review 2:Very nice "castle".

Review 3:1.coffee machines are not available 2.the mould in the shower room

Review 4:1.historical buildings but modern facility 2.the main building is really beautiful and we enjoyed the breakfast there

Review 5:Nothing negative to report!

Review 6:This was an amazing experience as the last stop with 13 destinations onour drive through Europe! :) The facilities were grandious, the food wasamazing and the surroundings with the gardens, walking tracks andgeneral views were beyond beautiful. I'm definitly coming back soon!

Review 7:I missed an extra pillow.

Review 8:Historical buildings and surroundings very beautifully restored and maintained. Lovely park down to Lillebælt (the see). God restaurant, however, with a little limited but well chosen selection of dishes that corresponded to the season..

Review 9:Regular stay in Denmark. Brought my wife this time, she enjoyed the spring-like day walking around the park very much. Diner and breakfast fine, although conference groups may be "present" at peak hours. Double room in the old stables comfortable and well kept.

Review 10:The rooms are quite spread out in different buildings. Incredibly, I could not find an off switch on the TV or the remote - I must have been tired!

Review 11:Location is absolutely beautiful in the countryside close to water and surrounded by deer. Breakfast was superb. Room is well designed with a superb rain shower.

Review 12:Staff at reception (especially upon checking in) may be a little more welcoming, a smile works miracles (even after 9 pm...)

Review 13:Unfortunately just a short sleep over, this time. Location is great and quiet, rooms modern (ask for new wings/stables) and comfortable, wifi works very well throughout the premises, breakfast with freshly baked bread and local specialties a proper start of the day.

Review 14:The twin room we had was rather too small and the wallpaper needed attention, as it was peeling off at the edges. However, this was in stark contrast to the rest of the hotel which was spotless, and also decorated in a peaceful restrained manor. Modern and old styles were effortlessly combined to great effect

Review 15:Almost everything. Lovely house and beautiful parkland to walk around. Both dinner and breakfast were excellent. The staff could not have been more helpful and were always on hand to answer questions.

Review 16:Bleach or paint on the carpets leaving stains, this does not look good in an otherwise very clean hotel.

Review 17:Location is excellent as is the building, nice walks down to the water and we had the weather on our side. We only had breakfast and this was very good.

Review 18:Rarely, a stay in a previous castle is so wholehearted and courtly. Here, the conversion to hotel has been complete, competent, professional, yet respectful to history. The devil is in the detail. The breakfast is to long for.

Review 19:Design features are usually nice, but it took me quite some time to figure out how I had to switch off the light in the shower.

Review 20:Very well situated buildings in scenic surroundings. Modern rooms with plenty of design features in old stables. Absolutely fabulous chef in the restaurant.

Review 21:The set dinner menu had an extremely limited choice and the quality of the cooking fell way below the standard we expected. It was easily the worst meal we had during our tour of Denmark and to pay £30 for a half bottle of a basic Beaujolais was ridiculous.

Review 22:The wonderful setting in the deer park. the large , stylish room and the excellent breakfast buffet

Review 23:Great place to get away and relax. Nice rooms and wonderful garden area where you can spot even deers. Breakfast was very good as well as dinner in the restaurant with excellent service. Would definately want to come back anytime,

Review 24:nothing!

Review 25:green location nature lake comfortable room

Review 26:Perfect location, very friendly and helpful staff. We had to stay for just one night, though we will make sure to come back again for holiday.

Review 27:The location at the deer park is very nice, we made a nice hike there. The staff was very helpful and helped us to have a very nice stay.

Review 28:Restaurant decor was disappointing

Review 29:Location

Review 30:Great hotel nicely located in a parc, with great facilities and quality service

Review 31:Beautiful buildings, idyllic park, friendly staff, great atmosphere, delicious breakfast.

Review 32:Middagen og frokosten

Review 33:Excellent location and breakfast

Review 34:none

Review 35:Great Location

Review 36:All new technology in an old barn next to a slot.

Review 37:Nothing

Review 38:Everything

Review 39:The place and the construction of the hotel. Very nice

Review 40:This is a large hotel complex while from the hotel photos itlolooks more boutique

Review 41:Wonderful breakfast

Review 42:Not much. Our room had a bathroom light that was activated by a motion detector, didn't take long before one is showering in the dark.

Review 43:Walked around the grounds, saw deer in the woods and the field. Nice view from our room. Enjoyed a great meal in the restaurant, fresh herbs in the dishes and a waiter who was enthusiastic about the food and it's preparation, he really added to the evening.

Review 44:The restaurant was in a side wing, not the castle and had very little ambience: just a white box with tables, rather crowded together and noisy. There was no decoration in the room to mitigate the whiteness, also no curtains etc., so very little atmosphere. As there was a big event in progress we thought that this might be a temporary dining room, so we checked with the staff, but it really was the restaurant. We found that rather a let down (especially as breakfast was in the castle in the beautiful 18th century rooms on the ground floor) and it certainly wasn't romantic, which one might expect from the location. The food was adequate, but not of four star quality and, for what is was, rather expensive.

Review 45:The hotel, an old country house estate, has an amazing location, set in fabulous grounds with rolling lawns, trees, ponds etc. The house (late 18th century) is magnificent, although the vast majority of the rooms are in the renovated stables and barns. These are modern and clean, with some nice raw brickwork, good facilities and great showers, but don't have an 18th century country house feel, if that is what you are looking for. Breakfast in the castle was very good: lots of choice and a fabulous setting.

Review 46:Just a minor detail: there were no windows to open in the room. There is a door that can be opened but you rather not do that during the night.

Review 47:Good rooms, nice staff, surroundings are fantastic

Review 48:The double bed was narrow and short, and room on small side.

Review 49:Top location Very friendly staff Great breakfast and dinner Beautiful place Wonderful gardens and views

Review 50:We booked Hindsgavl in the understanding that we would stay in a luxurious room with the round shower as shown on all the pictures. When we got to our room (130) it was only a small room with a standard bathroom. Such a room isn't worth 150 euro for 1 night to be honest. 70 to 90 euro would be reasonable.

Review 51:Beautiful location Great food in the restaurant Delicious breakfast with several Danish specialties Friendly staff who are willing to fullfill special requests such as flowers in the hotelroom as a surprise for my girlfriend. Thank you Sabrina.

Review 52:A lovely place in a stately castle setting. Delicious buffet breakfast with freshly-squeezed OJ in an elegant room of the castle. Attentive waitstaff. Our guestroom was in a former stable (lucky horses, they would have been) converted into stylish accommodations with contemporary panache -- loved the exposed brick walls and the round shower. Guest amenities were of a quality one would expect in this caliber of lodging. If the weather hadn't turned rainy, we would have enjoyed walking or biking the extensive grounds.

Review 53:A minor thing, the pillows could have been better. Very flat.

Review 54:I liked the loaction, close to the nature and coast. Nice design, felt newly renovated etc. Nice breakfast.

Review 55:It was our wedding anniversary, and we were promised a late check out (agreed on the phone prior to our arrival and double checked during check in). The hotel completely ignored this, and as a result the cleaning lady walked in the room in the morning without knocking. The moment could not be worse. Even though the hotel appologized thereafter, I cannot understand how poorly they manage their guests. The hotel was half-empty during our stay. The breakfast was rather limited and nothing special compared to any average business travel hotel. The rooms in the old part ("the romantic rooms") are outdated, with smell of "old room". The wall paper is peeling off the walls. Location of this place is literally in the middle of no-where - if it's raining, there's not much to do (at all).

Review 56:Excellent and personalized service at restaurant. Very nice junior suite with open bath thub on the modern side.

Review 57:perhaps you should have notified us older folk that there was a concert on the day of arrival with over 2000 people,we arrived mid afternoon to a total surprise expecting peace and quite.

Review 58:All good

Review 59:Less views of sea than I thought and free internet difficult to use. No mouse! However these were minor items and this property could be in one of the places to see before you die.

Review 60:A superb remoddeling of a stately home meshing traditional with Danish design excellence. Fresh orange juice included in a great buffet breakfast in a huge hall. Lots of walks around the estate which includes deer park and is run by the town.

Review 61:The restaurant and the bar staff do not notice you. You wait for several minutes for the waiter to bring you the menu, then more minutes for them to take your order. In the end you lose your patience and go to your room and order something to eat with room service. They need more waiters or a better organization.

Review 62:Nice location, very nice castle. Cleverly designed and renovated rooms. Clean, comfortable and friendly staff.

Review 63:Spartanically equipped room (no minibar or refrigerator, no slippers, no robe. Cleanliness needs improvement (cobwebs). No heating in bathroom area. No real blinds or curtains at the windows - had to close outside heavy, old, wooden doors. Very slow checkout. Restaurant closes too early.

Review 64:Very nicely located in a large, well maintained park. Great breakfast. Very nice public(breakfast, library) rooms in old castle. Impressively designed rooms in former livery stable. Free WiFi. Well equipped bar.

Review 65:It's outside the city, so a car is a must, but there's plenty ofparking and the location is actually a strong point. Only real downsidewas being given a room with a known problem and then having to change a1am from a building to another. I wasn't proposed any compensation, barely an apology. Shameful for such standard and quality.

Review 66:Location is fab, in a great park, by the sea. Style is great too, although some rooms are better style than others. It's great fornature, walking, it's a deafening silence, being far from any roador city noise, air is clean, breakfast is good, staff generally friendlyand helpful. Internet is included and good.

Review 67:Great location

Review 68:Shame there is no swimming pool

Review 69:great food, great rooms

Review 70:WC was broken?! It is a danger. There is no minibar- this is not good. The reception girl did not know the currency rate of Dannish crown?!

Review 71:Wonderful grounds for walking.

Review 72:The garden and the view on the see. The building complex and the nature around it !

Review 73:nice room calm place good staff breakfast was really perfect

Review 74:Fantastic rooms, sensational food and beautiful location.

Review 75:Room and breakfast
