Reviews for Hotel de la Moneda
Review 1:Having to leave!
Review 2:The staff was very accommodating. They showed us where to park, gave us suggestions for dinner and sightseeing. They even exchanged money for us. It was a thrill to stay in such a beautifully decorated place where they have thought of every detail to make one's stay exceptional. It is the best boutique hotel we've ever visited. The staff speaks perfect English. And having free wifi access was great.
Review 3:Dolores and her staff, who are so helpful and friendly. The location in a lovely town, walking distance of restaurants (recommend the Hotel Canet) and local transport. A well run immaculate hotel.
Review 4:Nothing
Review 5:Everything. Best hotel of our month long trip. Attention to detail in everything, beautifully decorated, comfortable bed, large room ,great breakfast nothing too much trouble.
Review 6:It is a bit of a winding path to get here, through some very small streets. Some streets were closed for a festival and that made it very challenging to reach it. Parking in the nearest lot can be tricky to get.
Review 7:Very nice hotel. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Staff very friendly and eager to help. Breakfast was outstanding.
Review 8:An absolutely wonderful small hotel hidden in Costa Brava. Friendly staff, cleanliness and the uniqueness of property made it for us. Kids enjoyed the small pois very much.
Review 9:Wifi connection is not great but who cares when you are there to relax...
Review 10:Our room was very big and clean And had a little terrace to sunbath. They offer us a mini bottle of cava and when we came back from dinner there was some sweets in the room which was a very nice surprise. The jacuzzi was amazing.
Bon accueil familial
Review 13:Having to leave the hotel!
Review 14:Everything, the ladies who own / run the hotel. the rooms, the attention to detail, the comfy beds, and what a fantastic breakfast! We only planned to stay one night, but stayed two. Highly recommended, one of the best we stayed in during our cycle tour of Spain.
Review 15:Our second visit ,great place to stay. Dolores and her staff were as usual kind, helpful and attentive. The rooms are immaculate, spacious, some with a terrace and attended to twice a day.Breakfast is plentiful, with lots of choice The hotel now has bikes for hire as the area is great for cycling.Interesting town to stay, choice of restaurants, friendly and a relaxed atmosphere. Good public transport links locally and to/from Girona city and airport. For walkers the Cap de Creus has plenty to offer. Another fantastic trip.
Review 16:Genuinely nothing to complain about.
Review 17:Big room. Emaccultely clean. Attention to detail. Polite, courteous and attentive staff. Quaint medieval village. Cute pool. Nice breakfast.
Review 18:Excellent location with very good connections to all the beaches and at the same time very quiet to get a good nights sleep. Very clean and well maintained 13th century building.
Review 19:Location close to many well-marked cycle routes-we cycled somewhere different every day- and wild life reserve with many bird hides(kingfishers, greater egrets, grey and purple herons, stilts..... Ideal location to explore Figueres (Dali Museum), Peralada (for excellent Emporda wines and olive oil). Liked the lock-up garage directly accessible from the hotel with rail for securing our bikes. Excellent breakfast. Spotlessly clean rooms Genuine warm welcome from the two lovely ladies and all the staff. Ate well at sister hotel Canet and Portal de la Gallarda, built into town walls with view of Pyrenees from dining area. Castello still retains its village atmosphere. Highly recommended hotel-would stay there again.
Review 20:Driving in the town. Medival street width with sharp angles and hidden corners. Free parking near flour museum, just a minute away.
Review 21:The best hotel of our holiday. Huge room, very comfortable and nicely decorated. Owners and staff very accomodating, service minded and professional. Good English (not always the case in Spain). Great pool, with friendly cat Caramel for extra charm offensive :-) Nice location with lots of things to do during the day, both in the village and further afield.

Review 31:Design and renovation of building Breakfast was excelent
Review 32:Service is èxcellent. Breakfast is a .pleasure 4 stars at travelodge price.
Review 33:I loved the bright colours and how the new was incorporated with the old.
Review 34:Great Service by the Management. Warm and welcoming. Rooms very clean, comfy beds. Pool is bit small but excellent. Breakfast more than enough.
Review 35:Best hotel I've ever stayed at.
Review 36:Parking in the garage provided is very difficult to maneuver. The lot across the street is more convenient. It is pay parking also.
Review 37:The staff were very pleasant, helpful, efficient. Anything needed they are on it. Their hotel is beautiful, breakfast very good. Terrace and pool very nice. Comfortable. Love Gargamel the cat who comes home to sleep out by the pool, during the day.
Review 38:An absolutely wonderful Hotel with fantastic staff. The food is great and the management is thoughtful and welcoming. The rooms are beautiful and quiet. We shall certainly return.
Review 39:I really didn´t like the blue light from the TV shining at me all night. It was very bright and annoying. I ended up unplugging the TV. Also I found the pillows and the bed to be uncomfortable, but my husband slept like a log and had no complaints at all so I guess it depends on what your preferences are. I would also suggest to the owners to put a standing lamp in the bathroom to have the possibility of dimming the light. There is plenty of space for it, and it would make the bath experience much nicer.
Review 40:The room was fantastic (room 103). It was large with high ceilings and very beautiful. The bath tub was amazing, so relaxing! It´s great that they supply you with candles. The owners were extremely nice and gave us a bottle of cava, and some sweets and didn´t charge us for the waters we drank in the room. The breakfast was also perfect. There was a huge selection and they made us eggs to order. Overall it was great value for the money. We were very pleased with our choice to stay here. The town is quiet but nice and in the morning we went to playa portitxol (20 min drive) which was beautiful!
Review 41:The decor in the rooms is rather too modern and brash for my taste. But the facilities were excellent and very very clean.
Review 42:Fantastic staff - could not have been more friendly, helpful and charming.
Review 43:Doesn't have a restaurant for diner.
Review 44:Absolutely great, state of the art hotel, modern yet in a old refurbished building without any default whatsoever. Staff is just wonderful, helping you in every possible way, still remaining undisturbing. Even had a half bottle of Cava offered. Breakfast is delicious. Region offers many interesting area and small villages, wine producers, and all Dhali museums.
Review 45:You cannot find hotel's garage without accompany. We booked tripleroom (for us and son) and supposed that our small daughter would sleepwith parents - no extra bed was needed. Night concierge told no problembut after two days of staying we surprisingly has got 66 euro extrapayment for a small girl
Review 46:Very good location - to rich main Dali's sightseeing. The managercan advise and book visitings Very good rooms and hotel's interiorMore or less good breakfast Very value for money !
Review 47:our bathroom 204 has a jacuzzi which is too big & rather slippery for simply having a shower................and it soaks the floor despite towels in the way!
Review 48:Very comfortable beds superb breakfast well situated for exploring the town helpful & friendly staff
Review 49:Very stylish, exceptionally clean, comfortable and very quiet which is unusual in this village. The staff are very attentive whilst keeping a professional distance so they do not intrude.
Review 50:Extra bill afterwards for our children without upfront notice upon checking in.
Review 51:Very nice and well decorated rooms with all the facilities you need. Great location with very nice local restaurants nearby.
Review 52:Impressive design, layout, standard and quality of rooms and facilities. Attention to detail by staff and high standard of service. Friendly yet professional nature of staff. Variety and quality of breakfast. Highly recommend a stay at this hotel for the unique experience it provides.
Review 53:Having to leave.
Review 54:Very friendly helpful staff, attentive and very gracious. Hotel was clean well appointed and the breakfast was fabulous. This was really a wonderful experience.
Review 55:Parking adjacent to the hotel was sometimes difficult but there was always ample parking 2/3 mins walk away. Don't let this put you off.
Review 56:Service was excellent, room was big and very comfortable. Had a very relaxing stay and with a few little restaurants and shops nearbye all we really needed. Very central- 15 mins to coast and Dali Museum at Figueres.
Review 57:Narrow confusing streets are a challenge if you are driving.
Review 58:Amazing beyond words. Quaint, elegant, and luxurious. Every detail is tended to. And the location is very special.
Review 59:The room was superb with all facilities including dressing gowns, toiletries, terrace with table and chairs. Also provided, for all Brits, is a kettle with tea and coffee. The staff are excellent and could not have been more friendly and helpful. They guided us personally to the car park and helped us with bags and bikes on arrival and departing. Instructions to the hotel through the beautiful maze of streets were precise and if followed you could not go wrong. The breakfast was excellent with fresh fruit and pastries as well as cheeses and hams and cereals. Outside there is a lovely terrace with chairs and tables and loungers around a small pool. The architecture of the hotel is superb with vaulted ceilings throughout. Castello itself is a beautiful small medieval town with several good restaurants and bars including Hotel Canet and Voltes in a nearby square. The area is superb for bird life and very flat for cycling with magnificent panoramas of the Pyrennees. All this within 10 minutes of the sea by car and easy reach of the magnificent Cap de Creus. A really enjoyable weekend and would definitely recommend Hotel Moneda, but save a room for us please.
Review 60:Everything was wonderful. The service, friendliness and level of detail was outstanding. They go out of their way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Rooms are beautiful, pool and terrace fantastic and breakfast delicious.
Review 61:Wi-Fi was not working so well
Review 62:The staff is very kind and helpful, the hotel is cosy and near of a lotof villages and places, like Figueres, Girona and Roses. There are somedvd that could be rented for free and a pc for using free of charge inthe lobby.
Review 63:Staff were great, very friendly and helpful. The room we stayed in waslarge, comfortable and kept to a high standard (tea/coffee not normalfor Spanish hotels).Terrace to the rear of the hotel with a smallswimming pool and a bar. For breakfast there was a good selection andlots of it. Location in a quiet town within easy reach of localattractions and within walking distance to restaurants (recommend HotelCanet). Hotel can be reached by rail and bus links from Girona airport.Used buses for daily jaunts and a local bar rented bikes as the area isgood for cycling. Excellent stay.
Review 64:Having not more time to enjoy the hotel
Review 65:The hotelowners received us with great hospitality. They were constantly anticipating on our requests and informed us abundantly about the city of Castello and it's points of attraction. They were very pleasant to talk with and helped us in many ways : restaurant choice, airport travel, next hotel.... We will be back with my family for a fantastic medieval city adventure or with my wife alone for a romantic stay in a little paradise...
Review 66:Everything really. The staff (two ladies) were absolutely excellent and very attentive to all our needs at all times. The Hotel is located in the old Jewish quarter in the small town of Castella d'Empuries and only a short stroll away from some quite nice restaurants and shops and with some historic buildings plus the enormous and very old church of Santa Maria.. The hotel has a 'designer/boutique' feel to it - modern but in an old building. The room (suite) we booked was enormous and very welcoming with two queen beds, a really comfy settee and sitting area, a large jacuzzi-style corner bath and a private terrace large enough for two sun-loungers and a table and 2 chairs. Perfect for a cilled romantic weekend away. The town is just a 10 mins drive from the largest marina in Europe at Emporiabrava and 15 mins from the resort of Rosas, so plenty to do and see plus the Dali museum is only around 20 mins away in Figureres. There is an underground car-park (quite expensive but secure) and an outside courtyard area with pool and terrace for lazing the days away, There was also a great breakfast choice of Continental style foods which were very fresh and constantly replenished. All in all a wonderful relaxed and very comfortable stay in a smallish, lovely hotel.
Review 67:Like many other hotels in Spain the car parking was a little difficult but the staff were very helpful in this respect. Not a problem.
Review 68:Decor,cleanliness,staff,ambiance and standard of decoration and fittings absolutely excellent.
Review 69:We absolutely loved the place: from fantastic room with designing andoriginal interior of Catalonia style to excellent breakfast with a lotof fruits and croissants. The personnel was very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a complementary bottle of champagne and California king bedwhere you can probably get lost. The hotel offers a decent selection offree movies and satellite tv. The town is nice with picturesque oldbuildings, calm and relaxing atmosphere, and great restaurants. Woulddefinitely recommend this hotel to everyone.
Review 70:The historic hotel building had a very modern interior and was aesthetically very pleasing and immaculately managed. We stayed six nights and had a small suite which was very large with two 4 ft beds a sofa and armchairs and an amazing amount of storage. The windows gave lovely views of the town. The spacious bathroom had a large jacuzzi bath and plenty of quality heavy towels There is a small romantic courtyard with a swimming pool which we did not use because we found an unspoilt and underpopulated beach which we used most days. We had visited the local Dhali museum previously but had not visited his home - the setting was worth the visit but unfortunately we had not booked to view the house which is essential. The staff were, without exception, very friendly and helpful on every occasion. The breakfasts were plentiful and typically continental. We are looking forward to returning, perhaps early next year.
Review 71:Despite having walked into the town the previous day to check the garagesituation (alerted to difficulty by comments of other guests online), westill managed to mess up our arrival - blaming the GPS...future guestscan rest assured that staff will assist if needed! In hindsight, it wsall part of the fun..
Review 72:Loved our time here. Such a generous welcome. We will return next timewe are close by.
Review 73:The location, in a medieval town near the coast, is delightful. Thehotel is a beautifully renovated old house and it was comfortable andquiet.
