Reviews for Draakon Hotel

Review 1:The 24hr reception did not happen. Staff were almost rude, payment was expected upfront which was a surprise from such a hotel. Furniture and carpets were looking old and tired. Claimed to be 4 star but more like 2.

Review 2:We liked the central location

Review 3:I didn't feel that welcome. The personnel seem to handle it their way. (had to wait 5 minutes at the counter before anyone showed up too). Bit old fashioned interior and rooms.

Review 4:Perfect location and private car park.

Review 5:There was no soap in the bathroom. There was no teabags but there was boiling water for breakfast.

Review 6:Comfortable room, good breakfast, perfect location, good wi-fi

Review 7:Super cold room and breakfast room. WiFi not working. Staff never present and not friendly. Front door locked at night. Minibar not refilled. Room not cleaned. Water not hot. TV old and with few channels only. Big stain on the carpet. Late checkout with expensive fee (hotel not busy).staff entered to room without knocking (who does that???)

Review 8:Good location but that's it!

Review 9:The people working (and owning) the hotel are like ghosts - most of the time you don't see them and then they appear from the middle of nowhere (after 15 minutes of waiting). Add the whole medieval feeling of the house and the rooms and you feel like it's the beginning of a horror movie, but I actually quite liked it. Especially because it feels like there's no one else staying in the hotel, even though there were other people in the breakfast room. So a little spooky, but actually worth it. Wouldn't stay again though.

Review 10:+ The hotel nicely provided us with the view to the town hall square as I requested on booking.com + upgraded us to the junior suite for free :) + The location couldn't be more perfect and the suite was actually very comfortable, although felt a little like it's 90's again.

Review 11:If any then maybe bathrooms would need to have a some refresh treatment.

Review 12:The location is very good - just on the corner of main square! Double rooms are really big.

Review 13:In the evening, we found that there is no water in the shower, informed staff, but got the answer "Go to the room and wait! The whole hotel bathe and no pressure", did not confound the room. We waited an hour, so the water did not appear. On the same morning, the water was not.

Review 14:Comfortable bed, good breakfast, perfect location

Review 15:poor breakfast, no tea kettle in the office (though listed on booking), staff is friendly but always absent at the reception, so you have to wait until someone appears.

Review 16:location, room space, quiteness

Review 17:Internet was weak. Bar and restaurant are not open except for breakfast. Business center non existent. Beer cellar nonexistent.

Review 18:Location is great. Breakfast is great. Staff is hard to find, but helpful if you can find them.

Review 19:Owner/Manager wasn't helpful to answer questions to understand how this older hotel worked. Lobby area did not usually have staff in the afternoon and evening leaving you waiting for 10 minutes or more this was a complaint I heard from other customers. Customers were an inconvenience!

Review 20:Was impossible to make the reservation on the phone as they just picked up the phone and didn't talk. I called around 10 times. Finally they said they had no rooms available which was a lie as I checked on booking.com and they had plenty of rooms. In the end I just booked the room through booking.com. They refused to do late check in telling me they will cancel my reservation. As I was a bit sick we asked the lobby for some hot water around 1am to make tea and they refused to help us until I got very upset. How comes you can't have hot water from the hotel?! Overpriced for what it is. Overall, not welcoming.

Review 21:Only good thing about the hotel is the location.

Review 22:There was mostly no one in the reception. The staff was a bit unkind and made us feel we were not welcome at all - as if they had thought "why did you come here to disturb us?" instead. We came at 11.30 am and asked if it was possible to leave our luggage to the hotel before 2 pm and go to see the town while waiting for our room. This seemed to be a big problem for the reception. Finally, after a long discussion we were told our room was actually ready, but we were strictly told not go to our room before 2 pm, only quickly take our suitcases to the room and then leave immediately. We didnt even dare to use the toilet. We hadnt asked for the room, only for a possibility to leave our luggage somewhere. The hotel doesnt have to give the room before 2 pm, I know this, but if its ready and clean, why wouldnt they allow their guests to go inside? The sauna wasnt working - no heat whatsoever - and when I told the staff about it I was somehow blamed it was my fault because I had thrown water to the steamer. The lady said it wasnt allowed to do so. If thats so, what is the sauna there for? What is a sauna without a löyly? Also, the lady in the staff didnt speak anything but Estonian. When i complained about the non-working sauna I understood what she was saying to the man in the staff (her husband???) in her own language, because i am a Finnish woman and the languages are very similar. It didnt feel nice when she was criticizing me about how stupid and annoying I was. This hotel could be such a wonderful place to stay, if the middle-aged couple working in the reception were more like professionals. A bit of kindness isnt too much to ask.

Review 23:A beautiful building. The location is brilliant and the breakfast was excellent.

Review 24:Took 5 minutes of running the shower to get any hot water. Very weak wifi.

Review 25:Room was large Breakfast was nice. Many things to choose from at the buffet.

Review 26:A quiet room was requested due to early start, but was kept awake until late by drinkers outside. I was left at reception for a long period on arrival despite staff aware of my presence. I was informed that the sauna was not on and if turned on would cost 20 euros per hour. Not impressed.

Review 27:Room was clean and comfortable.

Review 28:The checking in was a bit awkward, the TV in the room was very old (but since i didn't go there to watch the TV, i didn't really care).

Review 29:You can't get any more central than that hotel. Loved the on-site free parking and breakfast in the room. My husband doesn't eat grains and breakfast was ample to satisfy his appetite (eggs, ham, fruits, vegetables).

Review 30:Staff was not professional. Rooms are not clean (old rooms and things are broken).Worst breakfast we ever had.In this hotel you will feel like it is year 1994

Review 31:Only good thing was location

Review 32:The service was not friendly at all. The were nobody in reception and when I asked bill, it was a problem. The was smoke smell in my room and it wasn`t very clean. I felt like: person, who needs to be responsible for this hotel doesn`t like her job at all The breakfest was also poor and felt like somebody put yesterday`s food residues. .

Review 33:Good location.

Review 34:WiFi was flakey at times No pressure from sink tap Some updating could be good (they're still using CRT TVs) Bed too soft

Review 35:The location The breakfast was decent Helpful couple running the place who seemed to never sleep! Quiet despite the location

Review 36:- We waited 15 minutes until the staff: and old woman and old man arrived and very suspiciously looked at us. - The firs room we got was stinking for sigaret smoke so that the eyes were aking - We kindly asked to change very not kindly they find alternative - The room was cold as storage for frozen chickens, thanks god there was a sauna in room so I turned it on and heated all evening and night. - The brakefast was fair, I must say. But the room was again could like in North-Pole. Coffe was almost frozen in the cup in the end of eating session.

Review 37:Location

Review 38:The Hotel is situated at the main town square but the rooms windows open to a quiet court which is also the private parking for the guests. It has a.c. so even in the warm July days it was pleasant. The room we had, a superior double room, was spacious, nicely furnished and comfortable. The staff helpful. the bed comfortable. The location is great, few steps from the restaurants and the river, and of course the huge shopping malls. It is a good place to return to after hiking in the forests of south Estonia.

Review 39:- shortage of private parking lots - lazy and sleepy young lady at the reception - worn interiors - poor breakfast - very weak wifi signal - no soap dish in the shower

Review 40:Location is great

Review 41:The staff did appear to be a little aloof, however, this was not/never detrimental to our stay in Tartu.

Review 42:Great location, large clean room, excellent shower, very comfortable with a more than adequate breakfast and very good value for money.

Review 43:Two girls were "working" in reception. They didn't know anything about the work. After long time in mobile an old badsmelling woman With everyday cloths came. Her behaviour was too bad.Controling, susptius, unfriendly and more bad Words. Breakfast was not estonian nor international.Estonia have good macrell and herring from the Baltic sea,but the Products on table was unbelievable bad.Even estonians don't eat 3-4 day old porrage. aircondition was bad.It was warm and then the cooling must be better. Parkingplace for car,was bad but better than nothing. The controlling old lady tried to place the cars right, but her lack of carknowledge did more bad than ease the situation. In bed quilt was too old and must be changed at once. Too often , too early too noisy from garbage cars.

Review 44:coffee was ok. Nice Strawberries for breakfast

Review 45:When we arrived there was no one in the reception (about 4.30 pm) and when someone got there the welcoming wasn't warm at all. We were just asked to fill a form and pay. During our stay the reception was without anyone most of the times we passed by. Our room was a superior double room, would not want to know what is the inferior ... For 92 euros we got a fairly big room in the 5th floor (nr 52) which was really hot, without air conditioning or any kind of fan. When booking, it was announced to have wifi in the whole hotel, well in our room you had it only in the bathroom. I pointed this out to the reception and she told me that in the corridor the wifi works better ... Also I asked for the fan and also told her the toilet was shaking oddly and the answer was I will tell the receptionist ... I wonder who was she, since she was behind the reception desk! Because of the hot weather and lacking of air conditioning, we had to sleep with the windows opened. Well the garbage truck waked us twice during that night among others noises. It wasn't horrible, but the price didn't meet the quality!

Review 46:The hotel is really well located in the main square of Tartu. Near by there are many restaurants and the tourism office. In the room the best was the bed. The breakfast was ok.

Review 47:Day n evening nobody in reception, anybody able to walk in n out withoutcontrol. Whenever we needed reception had to wait some 15minutes or moreor check for them in various floors!!!. At arrival the owner informed"we do not work with booking.com, we do not hold any reservationfor y". Only after about half an hour very unpleasant discussion aroom has been unwillingly given. Other clients had same or similarexperiances there. We are unable to recomend this hotel at all.

Review 48:Nothing at all

Review 49:Reception large and echoing with no attempt to make it welcoming. Reception desk often unmanned in daytime. Building is large, Booking.com stated fully booked when hotel almost empty. Owners clearly limit intake of business to keep level of work low but sufficient for them. Building is on five floors, with (locked up save for breakfast) function rooms so one can feel a bit isolated, tho' this feels better when one understands the apparent business plan. Some upright chairs badly need re-upholstering or retiring.

Review 50:Impeccably clean. Breakfast good but a little limited when few guests. Very quiet. Some rooms sd. to have minibars. Mine did not, but excellent honour-system beer and soft drinks reasonably priced in fridge at Reception.

Review 51:reception very rude, problems with lights (reception gave me a lightbulb and asked to install it), shower curtain was missing, room was looking tired (needs some refreshing)

Review 52:location, big room, breakfast

Review 53:There was something strange with room I was given - it was supposed to be "Superior Double Room", but it certainly wasn't "Superior" just ordinary room. Same about breakfast. It is OK hotel, but it just isn't 4*.

Review 54:Location is excellent, free parking

Review 55:Bit old and shabby and when I needed to checkout and was horribly late, there was no one at the lobby concierge. And this was 9am! Was not imporessed. And the lighting system is not intuitive. Wifi in the room was poor.

Review 56:Upon arrival there was nobody at the reception - we had to wait. After lady receptionist showed up, she said that there is no car parking, and in the room we had to sleep in a double bed, although we were colleagues from work. There was nothing what booking.com promised, and the lady at the reception told us to ask directly boking.com for car parking and two separate beds in the room.

Review 114:Excellent location in the centre of Tartu, close to the main bars and Piro Park Very good breakfast offered and included in the price Room was clean and comfortable

Review 115:car parking in the yard should be reserved in advance, as upon arrival yard was already full. I had to park on the street which is not a problem, as city is safe and parking until 8am is free of charge. Breakfast on weekdays is until 9am only.

Review 116:friendly staff, good breakfast

Review 117:The hotel was almost deserted, when we arrived, so the breakfast was served in room and instead of public sauna there was one in the room. That made for a very nice stay with a small and very active boy!

Review 118:Nothing at all.... just perfect, thanks.

Review 119:I love the fact its a family run business, i find you get a much better service when people care for their business. The breakfast was an absolute treat, the best i have ever had and i have stayed all over the world.

Review 120:Poor TV channel selection. As they keep room temperature low when they`re out of guests, room realy couldnt warm up in one evening. Stuff was nice, but they talked only russian- that didnt come together with the image of 4star luxurious old city hotel.

Review 121:Location in the central square of old city. Noble interior, freshly decorated. Very clean. Plenty of restaurants, clubs, bars around.

Review 122:Slow WiFi. Weather -18C.

Review 123:A friendly old couple sereved in the hotel which was practically empty in mid-winter. Breakfast served in the room. Good hints of what to see and visit.
