Reviews for Hotel Rio Bidasoa

Review 1:Breakfasts were prohibitively expensive Unknowingly landed on day of festival and there were no eating facilities open for us - and car parking was overfull, as was town, so had to park 4 streets away. .

Review 2:Room, facilities, etc all very good. Staff helpful and friendly.

Review 3:Lovely room and balcony. Enjoyed the pool. Good breakfast. Friendly staff. Good to be able to stroll along the promenade to the centre of town; or up to the old town.

Review 4:Can't think of anything I didn't like.

Review 5:Great location for relaxing outside of San Sebastian. Wonderful small town atmosphere with some amenities of larger city. Very friendly to non-Spanish, non-Basque speakers.

Review 6:Location. Our room had a lovely view of the church and old town. Also very close to the airport which we walked to early morning. The room was very well appointed and comfortable

Review 7:The pool was lovely, but we would have preferred the loungers, etc to be next to the pool rather than in the garden.

Review 8:Fantastic spot for a stopover if travelling from France to Spain

Review 9:As peak holiday season there was not a parking space when we arrived, After three drives around the town and being unable to find a parking space we returned to hotel and were lucky enough to get a place to park that had become vacant. Didn'r move car again until time to leave. Restaurant closed Sunday and Monday evenings,

Review 10:Good location, close to old town and public transport. Excellent restaurant in which we had a superb meal, very helpful staff.

Review 11:No air conditioning (or if there was it didn't work well) . A room beside the pool, currently not in use , would make a perfect gym. The facilities in the hotel are sparse.

Review 12:Good quiet location minutes away from the old town and the busy square . Pool small, but perfect for a refreshing dip. Hotel supplied extra towels for swimming. Great size room (junior suite). Clean. Reasonable parking.

Review 13:Restaurant looked expensive and lacking in atmosphere so we didn't eat there. Great Tapas in the centre of town.

Review 14:Free Good speed WiFi and coffee in the bar area were nice touches. Location was quiet but not too far from main attractions.

Review 15:Wi-fi did not reach our room (located on sub-zero floor and had quite funky smell).

Review 16:Very nicely decorated and spacious room, helpfull staff, close to the airport.

Review 17:There were maggots in the freshly squeezed orange juice. When we discreetly told the young waitress, she simply changed the jug, did not apologise nor offer recompense. The omelette was runny and luke warm inside.

Review 18:Free wiFi, comfortable beds

Review 19:Great location for the airport, and the pool was like heaven after a day of travelling. Staff were happy to call for a taxi in the morning and it arrived quickly.

Review 20:Had booked a double room but found two twin beds pushed close to one another but made as two separate beds. The fact they didn't have a double bed as had been booked wasn't ideal. Free WiFi also didn't work on one of the two days.

Review 21:Impersonal staff, few facilities, inadequate outside space, noisy location, soleless room, air conditioning broken down, could be cleaner. Not liked and we won't be back.

Review 22:Close to town

Review 23:None

Review 24:The location, the staff, the restaurant, the complete hotel was outstanding. The location is very close to the center of the old town. Great place to stay and to also visit San Sebastian by bus from there. The staff personnel excellent. We had a room with a great terrace. Well worth every euro.

Review 25:The bathroom was clean but it could have been more thoroughly cleaned. We missed fresh coffee at breakfast as this has been replaced by a coffee machine.

Review 26:The room was nice and the bed was very comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and provided a lot of information about the town. The breakfast was lovely with good quality products, particularly the meats. This is our second visit to the hotel and we were not disappointed.

Review 27:A bit cold. Difficult to find because the direction of the streets around has be changed and the GPS doesn't know it yet.

Review 28:Good food. Excellent breakfast.

Review 29:bar seemed to be closed - it is becoming a little shabby although it was refurbished not many years ago- woken v early by someone clomping around upstairs could hear showers and loos flushing and lights being switched on and off not as clean as it used to be

Review 30:lovely to go back there- could walk into the town quiet location

Review 31:Leaving!

Review 32:We had organised car hire at San Sebastian airport so chose the hotel for its proximity. We were very impressed with the help we had from reception. The room was fine and the bed and bedding excellent. Hondaribbia is a lovely place and the tapas bar which was recommended to us was excellent. Highly recommend, good value for money.

Review 33:Fairly quiet. Staff at front desk were friendly and multilingual. Decent sized room and comfortable bed.

Review 34:Couldn't improve!

Review 35:From the moment you arrive at reception, you are treated so well. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff - it's a real gem .

Review 36:Nothing, but did think breakfast a little pricy and would recommend a ' breakfast included' deal if one on offer.

Review 37:Lovely hotel, with large comfortable and stylish rooms. Lovely pool with day beds. Really fast wifi that reaches to the pool! Great location for sea front, town and old city short walks away.

Review 38:Asked for one large bed--got two beds -not made as one--which separated all night. Lime green décor in room. Breakfast/bar area was chaotic. Parking on nearby streets difficult.

Review 39:Reasonably close to interesting part of town and the river.

Review 40:High season, prices on the full side for accommodation only without breakfast included.

Review 41:Position of the hotel ,convenient to old town and main town street and quay. Excellent restaurant within the hotel.

Review 42:Lovely hotel, a short walk from bars and restaurants and the small old town. Lovely garden area with nice pool. Pleasant outdoor seating areas. free coffee was often available in the bar area. Promenade a short stroll away. A long walk to Hondarribia beaches, but local ferry can be taken across the bay to France in 5 minutes!

Review 43:Nothing

Review 52:Car parking on site was very limited.

Review 53:Very close to the town centre, a short walk away. Hotel reception staff were very helpful and cheerful.

Review 54:The friendly reception. Proximity to the lift to the old town & also to the seafront. The spacious room & the bathroom shower.

Review 55:Everything else, rude staff, non helpful...totally spoilt my trip..

Review 56:Location

Review 57:Beautiful grounds. Perfect location for old town, restaurants, beach. Fabulous restaurant. Stylish design. Loved it.

Review 58:No bad experience but a mirror in the bedroom (loads of free wall space) would be a very good idea.

Review 59:Location, safe parking, very helpful staff

Review 60:too little beds at the pool, only 8 or 10 for a total of the hotel guests.

Review 61:nice hotel, a little too expensive

Review 62:Quite expensive.

Review 74:This hotel has a lovely atmosphere.

Review 75:The restaurant was a bit expensive.

Review 76:The restaurant was very good. Liked everything.

Review 77:No proper bar for tapas etc, which is so traditional to Spain

Review 84:Wi-fi was a little slow in the room

Review 85:Very good location, a short walk to the old quarter and the harbour. Parking on site. Staff really friendly and helpful. Loved the shower.

Review 86:A soulless hotel with depressing 1960's style dark decor in the middle of a noisy housing estate and about 1000 meteres from the airport runway. To be fair there were few air traffic movements during our two days stay. We cannot imagine how it ever got 4 stars.

Review 87:Only its close proximity to Hondarrabia.

Review 88:I stayed overnight to be near San Sebastián airport as I had an early flight to catch. The hotel is an easy walk away. The staff were very pleasant and helpful, the room very comfortable and well supplied. I loved the trays of apples put out for guests!

Review 89:Nothing.

Review 90:The hotel was excellent. The staff were most accommodating, they managed to fit us in for Christmas lunch even though the restaurant was full.

Review 91:Hotel is well-placed for visiting the fascinating old town as well as the buzzing promenade with its sea-food restaurants. Also Donostia/San Sebastian is only a short drive away. The hotel was comfortable and very friendly, and being situated just on the edge of town was quiet at night. It was a very easy walk to the old Town (via a lift) and to the promenade and pintos in San Pedro.

Review 92:Unable to get coffee without asking for it, as the room was set up for a group meeting, although when I did get a cup made for me, it was excellent.

Review 93:Lovely decor. Easy to find, easy to leave car and walk.very comfortable.

Review 94:Parking is small and not guaranteed, (ok you can park for free in the area). Dinner has a fixed full course menu and it's take it or leave it, they do have room-service alternatives. Complementary coffee was gone by 10hrs. Didn't get any.

Review 95:Nice environment, quiet yet lively, easy access, very nice rooms.

Review 96:No sockets by the side of the bed, but the receptionist obtained anextension lead, so it was fine.

Review 97:The staff were wonderful. Breakfast was substantial and good. Withineasy walking distance of the town and lots of shops and restaurants.

Review 98:Rooms very bland.
