Reviews for Altstadt Hotel Koblenz
Review 1:Parking is a bit of a bummer - you have to look around to find somewhere or pay 15€ per 24 hours in underground car park nearby.
Review 2:Fantastic old building, modernised spacious bedrooms and lovely large bathrooms Cafe on ground floor is absolutely amazing wunderbar !
Review 3:The nearest and most convenient public parking garage is 25 euro per day.
Review 4:Location was excellent! Early access to downstairs coffee shop for hotel guests before crowds on a weekend.
Review 5:Breakfast not included
Review 6:Great location; perfect view on Christmas Market; all attractions nearby in walking distance; cafe with excellent breakfast in hotel; rooms clean and comfortable. Highly recommend!
Review 7:This was the worst hotel I have ever stayed. Beds are so small that I fell out. Width about 60 cm. sheets so thin and narrow it doesn't cover but halve of your body. Floors very dirty. No info that you can't check in after 6:00 pm. You have to find parking and if you do its at least 15 - 20 minutes over cobblestone with you bags. Checking out before 8:00 AM no breakfast, no coffee you have to wait until the coffee shop under the hotel opens. And btw try to carry your stuff up to the 3rd floor. If you are over 5,5" you need to go down on your knees as the staircase ceiling is sooooo low you bump your head. There is nothing to like about this hotel.
Review 8:Unfortunately, the queen size bed was made up of two mattresses, which made for an uncomfortable sleeping experience as a wide space remained in between. Also, even though the view of the square is very nice, at night the noise tends to be quite loud.
Review 9:The hotel is perfectly located in the center of the city, and the view of the square was wonderful.
Review 10:Our room overlooked the small square which was very noisy during the night (all hours) and the church clock opposite which dings on the quarter hour! If you are a light sleeper, ask for a room not facing the square.
Review 11:Lovely small renovated hotel, centrally located and walking distance to the ferry station. Good size bedroom and bathroom which actually featured a real bath! Our room was on the third floor, accessible by a not very wide spiral staircase. Telephone is advertised as included, but not in our room. The breakfast of EUR10 per person extra is worthwhile and very tasty.
Review 12:Staff could have been friendlier. My lack of German language seemed to be a problem for some.
Review 13:Nice modern, clean room, good location in the middle of the old town.
Review 14:Bed seemed comfy, but unfortunately it wasn't. Woke up with back pain in the morning.
Review 15:At breakfast you pay only for what you consume. Hint: If you are a light eater, don't bother paying the extra € 10 for breakfast. Rather pay for your coffee (really good) and croissant extra (around € 5).
Review 16:No lift.
Review 17:We were cycle touring and stayed here for two separate nights, with two nights in between. The staff allowed us to store our bikes and gear for the in between days while we toured the Rhine Gorge by train (too rainy to cycle). The hotel breakfast was great but not included and the room was cosy. The location could not have been better. Right on the square in the centre of the old town.
Review 18:Bring ear plugs for sleeping at night as the church bells are rather loud on the hour,
Review 19:Large room overlooking the square; fabulous bathroom and shower facility; great location in old town, about 1.2 k walk from train station; great breakfast in cafe below hotel.
Review 20:No elevator, but our bags were carried to the room...and they were heavy.
Review 21:Terrific hotel in the middle of old town. Yes, the clock chimed, but that added to the charm of this small town.
Review 22:No air conditioning so noise from clock bells and early morning delivery vehicles disturbed our sleep.
Review 23:Clean modern room in hotel on one of main squares. Easy access to Rhine, Mosel and main sights. Tasty breakfast (although we were charged per item rather than Euro 10 as shown on our booking). Some secure storage for our bicycles (limited so request in advance).
Review 24:Kept up all night by noisy drunk people on the square this is related to location but not the fault of the hotel
Review 25:Comfortable room large bathroom with a bathtub
Review 26:Cleanliness and helpful staff. Location is fantastic but church bells ringing all night might disturb some. Wifi great. Bicycle storage limited but ok
Review 27:If you are a light sleeper, you may be bothered by the proximity of an old church with bells that chime every 15 mins. - didn't really disturb us, though I thought it might!
Review 28:The hotel was lovely building in a picturesque square in the Altstadt & was within walking distance of many of the historical attractions of the city. The room was airy & spacious with a large modern bathroom.
Review 29:The downside of being in the centre of the old town is the nearby clock which chimes (loudly!) every 15 minutes throughout the night. The steep stairs could be a problem for anyone with mobility issues.
Review 30:Wonderful central location. Really helpful staff. Simple but comfortable room with a large bathroom.
Review 31:If staying over a weekend in the hot time of the year, be warned that due to missing air conditioning you will have the windows open. Which would not be bad if there were nor the screaming crowds up untill 4 am.... absolutely no chance to sleep due to the combination between heat and noise... Unfortunately, i understand this, the hotel management can not do anything about it - no way to install aircon on an historic building, no way to tell the celebrating people not to do it on one of the main squares in the old town
Review 32:Because it is in the centre of the Altstadt there were a lot of late night revellers. It was a hot night, windows open and very noisy outside. An investment in air con or even some fans would have been helpful other than that great stay
Review 33:Great location and very friendly staff. rooms were clean and comfortable
Review 34:It was really, really loud (outside because of the people partying in the "Altstadt" and inside the hotel due to slamming doors, etc.) and we did not get much sleep.
Review 35:The staff was friendly.
Review 36:It was very hot & no AC in any part of hotel-even café . very stifling. Also a rock band was playing outside our window & the noise went on all night
Review 37:good location , nice bathroom
Review 38:No aircon so had to have windows open, very noisy all night with people crossing square and bells gong every 15 mins all night. no hotel bar and reception closes after 18.00
Review 39:ideal location for sightseeing and good pubs
Review 40:church bell very 15 min...even at night
Review 41:*amazingly helpful and friendly stuff. *great location, in the middle of the old town and near to both river Mosel and river Rein promenades. *clean room, large bathroom.
Review 42:Car parking was about 200 metres away in an underground public car park and the breakfast was not very good.
Review 43:Located in the centre of the old town, as the name suggests, we liked being close to the main attractions. The rooms were nice and the staff friendly and helpful.
Review 44:The town clock chimed every 15 mins ALL night outside our window so we didnt get much sleep. The room was quite stuffy, no air conditioning and if you kept the windows open the noise from the town clock was deafing.
Review 45:Staff were nice and helpful. The hotel is close to the river and easy to access the day cruises.
Review 46:Unable to unload car outside hotel, car park quarter of mile away. Not informed about Music Festival directly outside window. Breakfast was eating in the cafe downstairs. No lift and lighting very poor on stairs.
Review 47:Location
Review 48:The room was exceptionally hot with no air conditioning and very small. Also there was no parking and no area to unload baggage. The nearest parking is a block away carrying baggage.
Review 49:The location was very good and in a lively area for restaurants and good sightseeing.
Review 50:Well, it was record heat wave and without air condition the room temp was well above +30... Not really a fault of the hotel?
Review 51:The staff is super kind and really makes an effort for you
Review 52:Great location and very friendly and accommodating staff. I like a firm bed do I slept very well here. The cafe is also excellent with great coffee. We did not add breakfast but ended up eating breakfast here each day. I recommend the Rühreier to start your day.
Review 53:Perhaps to be expected for such a central location, but it was very noisy throughout the night.
Review 54:Simple,tasteful and clean rooms, with friendly staff. We arrived by boat and it was a short walk to the pretty hotel in the Altstadt.
Review 55:Only one niggle - reception is in the cafe on the ground floor but there are no signs to tell you this so we dragged our bags up a spiral staircase to the 1st floor, following the signs to the hotel, only to be told by a chambermaid there that we had to check in below. We were then assured by the friendly girl checking us in that as there was no lift she or a colleague would take our bags to our rooms and bring them down when we left to save us having to carry them - rather too late though for us! A simple sign above the door leading from cafe to hotel, indicating that reception is at the cafe counter, would have avoided all this. Also note that the beds are quite firm - that suits me but may not suit everyone.
Review 56:I loved the location in a quiet square in the heart of the old town. My room (#4 on the 2nd floor) was a good size with modern decor and bathroom. Breakfast in the cafe on the ground floor (for which you may separately) was excellent. I would definitely stay here again if I return to Koblenz
Review 57:We stayed for 2 nights in the top floor in this small cosy hotell in the heart of the beautifull old town. Beds, matresses, 2-size pillows and bedlinen very fine quality. Short walk for the cable car and city center.
Review 58:Pillows detracted from a good nights sleep No lift (but staff happy to carry bags up and down)
Review 59:Excellent location in centre of Koblenz old town Friendly helpful staff
Review 60:Whilst not a problem one should be conscious that being in the Old Town no lifts are allowed. Staff however are very helpful
Review 61:The Hotel presents extremely well with outstanding service provided. Location is great.
Review 62:The location of this hotel was fabulous, the rooms were clean, comfortable and smartly decorated. The breakfast was refreshingly different and the staff were helpful all of this for a reasonable tariff
Review 63:Check-in very late (not before 4pm), no reception, they attend in the café. Dust in the corners of the room, our room was rather small, no parking facility
Review 64:Location, new facilities in room, nice deco, good size bathroom
Review 65:This hotel had a perfect location, our room had a view over the Jesuitenplatz, with cafés, restaurants, bars and beautiful shops and boutiques around every corner. Hotel was perfect, modern, high end and elegant. And a very nice staff!
Review 66:The beds were a bit too small, about 80 cm each, but they were comfortable. No tea and coffee facilities. No interesting foreign tv channels.
Review 67:It is a beautiful and modernly furbished old house, situated in a central square, with a big coffee shop at ground floor. It was quiet (from Tuesday to Friday in March). The bathroom was especially large and well fitted. Effective heating and enough hot water. The room was full of light.
Review 68:not bad, but warning to those with youg families. There is no lift, so leave pushchair at bottom of spiral staircase.
Review 69:room,bath,bed,spacious and quiet.
Review 70:I told them and had sent an e-mail through booking.com that I would be only staying 2 nights when I checked in the girl said no problem then they charged me for 4 days the owner said she would take care of it which she did not
Review 71:Staff and breakfast. It s like having breakfast is a public bakery. No service at the table- had to walk to the bar to get my coffee. Not all personnel unkind but one of them definitely should be looking for a different job. Did not feel welcomed. Doors slammed- very noisy. Would not stay here again
Review 72:Location and lay out of room great.
Review 73:Breakfast deal was different than published at booking, being a la carte (+- EU 13/person) and not included. Wifi did not work properly. It is in front of the square, and room leaks noise from outside.
Review 74:Location is great, room quite design, good bathroom. Walking distance from the main sites of the city. While not accessible by car, a parking lot is available 2 blocks away (EU 20/ 24h).
Review 75:Entrance is through a cafe, which shuts at 6.00 pm. Entrance is then through a locked side door. Instructions on who to contact (by phone) to gain entrance only in German.
Review 76:Parking space is not available, but there are some parkhouses nearby (5 min. walk). The hotel has no lift, and carrying the luggage up the narrow staircase is not always easy.
Review 77:Very nice room, the location is perfect and the staff is very nice.
Review 78:Parking (Gerichtsstraße) costs 15 EUR / 24 hour. Breakfast is not included and paid "à la carte". Very modern food - you'll love it or hate it! Services close at 18 hrs.
Review 79:Very good location. Good service. Nice rooms.
Review 80:Wifi signal was very weak in the room, worked well in the coffee shop. Depending on staff available, you may have to wait for coffee customers to be served before you can check in or out.
Review 81:Excellent staff, coffee shop very well stocked for light fare and small meals. Great location! In the Aldstadt, easy walk to Deutsches Eck and other sites. Overall, great place for the price.
Review 82:The hotel is in a wonderful location, right in the middle of the most charming part of Koblenz. Many restaurants are right outside, and the Rhine is a short walk down the road. Beautiful!
Review 83:No staff after 18:00 as café closes (be on time for check-in) With your room key you get a small electronic device that will open a side door after 18:00. Free Wi-Fi internet was a bit slow even with my large external Wi-Fi antenna.
Review 84:Location in the heart of old part of town. Café downstairs which is also the reception. Room was superb; everything seemed to be brand new. Very spacious with a large double bed, small desk, storage spaces and a large flat screen TV. The bathroom was very clean and had a tub. Breakfast is served in the café and the price on internet (10 euro, September 2014) is just an indication of what to expect.
Review 85:Soundproofing is not the best. As previously mentioned, do not think that you can park outside after 11am. Totally closed to traffic. Take small travel cases and park in The Aldtadt underground car park (17e per day) and walk the 180m.
Review 86:In Town Square in the centre of the Old Town. Easy walk to all of the tourist sites and the river area. Loads of good places to eat and drink. Really good coffee/breakfast choice in the Cafe downstairs. Nice friendly staff.
Review 87:Wifi barely worked, couldn't get it to work on one of two phones.Don't think there was a/c, but opening Windows meant gettingtremendous noise from the center at night when trying to sleep. Evenclosed there was noise.
Review 88:Very central location in Altstadt, excellent food in restaurantdownstairs, very affordable price
Review 89:Very confusing breakfast deal. We thought it was included and was informed that we could order anything from the cafe. Then we were charged for it.
Review 90:Nice room in a very fresh and stylish hotel with nice café.
Review 91:Nothing - everything was great!
Review 92:Beautiful hotel in the perfect location.

Review 96:Old town location in cobbled square attached to cafe with yummy food.
Review 97:Absolutely great location in the centre of the old town (altstadt). Friendly staff.
Review 98:Friendly of the staff and the "key-boy", the option fro late check-in.
Review 99:Not far from the Deutsches Eck and the Altes Hofbräuhaus

Review 105:Room and bathroom very spacious Location in centre of old town
Review 106:The bed felt too hard for me, but my other traveling companion thought it was ok.
Review 107:EXCELLENT location and very friendly and English speaking staff.
Review 108:Modern, well appointed property. Walking distance from KD Ferry pier if you're coming down the Rhine.
Review 109:Dreadfully noisy. Church bells, singing locals and delivery vans.
Review 110:Location.

Review 123:Poor lighting in bedroom.
