Reviews for Aalbæk Gl. Kro

Review 1:perfect for staying the night before sailing to Norway to visit Skagen the next morning before travelling to the ferry. Nice pub and prices are 30% below N

Review 2:The sofa bed was very uncomfortable, so were also the duvets and linen. Light above main bed was not working. The evening staff was not very attentive and slow. We were expecting more for this price.

Review 3:They opened breakfast 30 min early for us, due to our early departure

Review 4:Some of the breakfast staff could be a bit nicer

Review 5:Very constable stayed, the room was average but had everything we needed, breakfast was good, there is shops and restaurants within walking distance. Good base to travel to Skagen.

Review 6:Curtains / blinds were missing on the top part of the windows, so it was not very dark during the night. Wifi kept disappering.

Review 7:Modern clean rooms. Quiet. We choose the first floor as it is more privat.

Review 8:Younger dining room staff could do with more training in making guests feel welcome. Pity no arrangements for early breakfast as we had an early start to catch a boat.

Review 9:Atmosphere of tradtional Danish inn. Beautiful bedrooms and very pleasant restaurant. Very friendly experienced older staff in dining room.

Review 10:A small fridge to go with the tea and coffee making facilities would be appreciated. The price of the accommodation seemed somewhat expensive for what was offered. The WiFi tended to be somewhat erratic.

Review 11:The superior rooms were relatively comfortable, and the location is convenient for touring around the sites of Skagen.

Review 12:The room were nice and tidy done every day and the breakfast was excellent. All contact with the staff was professionally done. The small town atmosphere in Aalbæk did us good. A good location if you want to go to a good beach (500 m), see Skagen and Fredrikshavn, visit Hjørring and Dana Cup (half an hour away) and Legoland (3 hours away) as we did within 4 days. We were really satisfied.

Review 13:Breakfast with cheap products. Menu in general does not seem to have been updated in a very long time.

Review 14:It's an OK "kro", but nothing distinguishes it from their rivals.

Review 15:Service in restaurant was a bit slow and lacking a little professionalism.

Review 16:The location and the athmosphere. The food was quite good and the rooms were comfortable. We loved the small town and the easy access to other small towns in the area. The staff was helpful and nice.

Review 17:N/a

Review 18:Great value for the money: great restaurant , clean , great location just outside Skagen Great staff - third time there

Review 19:Long distance between reception and room. . Room only accessible via metal stairs. No lift.

Review 20:Central to the Skagen area

Review 21:It was raining (hardly the hotels fault :-)

Review 22:Nice basic but clean rooms. Good pillows. Satisfying breakfast buffet.

Review 23:Ideal location for exploring the area. Good meals in the restaurant and breakfast room. Comfortable room.

Review 24:Internet was a bit unstable.

Review 25:Nice and clean room, and bathroom with warm floor!!

Review 26:the breakfast room

Review 27:Wifi not actually free No plug for basin

Review 28:Heated bathroom floor Breakfast Location

Review 29:The staff were very friendly and helpful - always with a smile. The rooms are very quiet and spacious. The meals are delightful and the rhubarb and other vegetables are from their own kitchen garden - none could be fresher. Very convenient to Skagen and other sights. I hade a great couple of nights there. Peter

Review 30:Motel like rooms, not a b&b Tiny bathroom Expected better atmosphere for this price.

Review 31:Close to Skagen, which we wanted to visit, and where no rooms could be found except very expensive Quiet at night Clean Friendly staff

Review 32:casual treatment of guests during dinner: the first course order was never served. On checking out a charge was made for creditcard despite a debitcard being used. Overall impression was one of sloppy service.

Review 33:good breakfast

Review 34:Where to start ? The rooms bore absolutely no resemblance to the pictures on the web or in the brochure, it was standard cheap furniture that showed signs of wear and tear, the door even had mold on it.The bathroom floor could have been cleaner. And I'm not lying when I say that we, without trouble, could overhear the conversation going on next door - the walls were that thin. The place sells it's restaurant as gourmet, and after waiting half and our for the waiter to come over and take your drinks order and a further half an hour for the food, it's very disappointing to find out that the food is mediocre at best. I'd hate to think what would happen with the service if they actually got busy! All in all I would rather stay at one of the cheap motels along the motorway in Europe, at least they do not sell themselves as something they are not.

Review 35:The breakfast

Review 36:They didn't change the towels. The kro food in the evening was awful. A million chips on a plate does not give much appetite. They took an extra charge for using a master card.

Review 37:Nicely situated between Fr.Havn and Skagen. Lovely breakfast, lots to choose from. Comfortable bed.

Review 38:Can't think of anything negative.

Review 39:It was in a small town. We liked the old main building and its history. Our room was very nice. At the breakfast I learned how to make Danish waffles.

Review 40:For such an expensive hotel we were disappointed in the followingrespects:1. Coffee/creamer was not replenished daily in our room by the chambermaid, who gave us more tea bags only on request. 2. Flies on the cheese in the breakfast room quite put us off, which could have been perhaps dealt with by having an electronic device to attract and kill them, or by covering the cheese better. 3. Fruit in breakfast room was not peeled. A proper fruit salad could have been prepared.

Review 41:We had a lovely large room, though without a refrigerator. There was asmall table with a couple of chairs on the balcony outside where wecould picnic in the sunshine. Good breakfast choice smorgasbord. Highquality restaurant.

Review 42:Breakfast was in a separate group-room, not very cosy, but still good food, so not really a point to see as negative!

Review 43:Very nice outside sitting area with a really good menu! Quiet room in the backyard with some nice garde area in front of it. Very good situated between Hirtshals, Skagen and Frederikshaven, very friendly staff!

Review 44:Everything

Review 45:Internet connection was reliable but slow.

Review 46:Nice breakfast and excellent restaurant. Good positioned (if you are driving).

Review 47:Its a nice place with serviceminded staff, close to the main road, easy to find.

Review 49:Nothing

Review 50:The combination of old tradition an modern comfort.

Review 51:Rude service st the restaurant.

Review 52:Motel style, independent rooms, old furniture, not clean, small tv without any international channel... what else?

Review 53:breakfast ok...

Review 54:Nice atmosphere

Review 55:The room was very nice and spacious. The breakfast was very good.
