Reviews for CONTEL Hotel Koblenz

Review 1:Many quirks. Unreliable wifi. No coffee maker in room. And although it sits near the Mosel River, there is no view. Nor is it near the Alte Stadt -- a 20-30 minute walk or a confusing car ride.

Review 2:Our room for three offered good value with a separate alcove for our older daughter. A good breakfast buffet was appreciated. And free parking!

Review 3:On arrival was surprized by the outside appearance as building painted in primary colours. Inside it was beautiful and staff were very helpful. The meal in the evening was fantastic. Would certainly like to return for a longer stay.

Review 4:The only downside was that we could not spend additional time to enjoy the facility...Any return to Koblenz will be a return to the Contel

Review 5:If anyone is planning a trip to Koblenz and want to stay in a fun and very eclectic facility, look no further. The Contel is your place...all is whimsical and designed to keep one in good spirits. The staff is inviting and cordial to those that speak limited German and our room was spacious and sparkling. Due to the cool October evening weather we did not get to enjoy the Beer Garden on the Moselle River but it looked very inviting. The food in the restaurant set the bar for our 3 week vacation and we found non better in our trek to the towns along the Rhine, in Bingen, Trier or Koln. The food served should be tourist destination on its own. ..

Review 6:Spacious room with a litle balcony. Friendly staff and good breakfast. Free parking. Close to the Rhine and attractions in the old city. Lovely garden. Free enterence to Sauna.

Review 7:They tried to change the rooms despite booking individual beds for our group. I had to insist they changed them. Took some doing.

Review 8:Nice location easy to find.

Review 9:Although the exterior appearance of the hotel was a little unusual, we found the facilities very nice and comfortable. As with many non-chain hotels, the rooms are not air-conditioned. We were there in extreme heat but this is probably not a problem usually.

Review 10:Rooms were a little warm (little ventilation) though a fan was supplied. (early september, temps in low 20's). Room had cooker, but no utensils, not even a kettle. Reception supplied electric kettle when asked though.

Review 11:Very comfortable hotel, and very modern. 20 min walk along paved footpath to city center. Nice restaurant, and nice decor. Deceptively large hotel. Underground parking was great, with plenty of spaces, though safe street parking and private car park also available. Bathroom was bigger than most hotel rooms elsewhere!!!

Review 12:Not in Koblenz town but it is within walking distance.

Review 13:Great location for a one night stop-over and it's quirky nature. Our room and bathroom were above average in size with decent beds and wifi. Garden was great

Review 14:Wifi was a pain to log on to, even for an experienced traveller, and distance to the old town centre prohibited us from exploring for the one night we were there

Review 15:Excellent location for a one night stop-over and it's quirky nature. Our room and bathroom were above average in size with decent beds and wifi (once you'd managed to log on).

Review 16:This is a really great hotel, we will come back whenever we visit Koblenz again! A comfortable room, and an excellent restaurant with very good service.

Review 17:Could be some pots, dishes, coffee machine etc. There is electric hotplate and refrigerator in the room, but nothing else....pity.

Review 18:Comfortable room, great summer restaurant (Biergarten), nice location close to river. To the centre 15 walking minutes

Review 19:The wifi was down.

Review 20:This hotel is so quirky, its the second time we have stayed here and we will undoubtably return. The external colours are out there and strange enough actually suit the hotel. Love the walks and the river is very close by. Unfortunately the weather wasnt very good so we couldnt sit out in the garden...but last time we enjoyed that immensly

Review 21:No airco, wifi max 2 devices complex procedure to receive password, no swimming pool, far from city centre, no English, no toilet near reception. Room cleaning very late and only bathroom.

Review 22:Large room, cleanliness overall ok.

Review 23:Lack of air conditioning was the only drawback. They provided fans but daytime temps were 95f/35c and getting comfortable was a challenge.

Review 24:The individuality of the hotel! It was wonderful, the rooms were spacious and breakfast was great!

Review 25:Small add-on charges seemed unnecessary. Would prefer somewhat larger menu at biergarten.

Review 26:Great location right on the bike path, short walk to Altstadt. Nice biergarten, good restaurant. Cool, funky vibe, interesting decor.

Review 27:On arrival, the exterior of the hotel made us wonder if we should not go in as it was very off putting, but the staff were pleasant and welcoming. Internally, the décor was dated and could do with a facelift.

Review 28:The breakfast was fantastic. It was very quiet. The car park was free and below the hotel.

Review 29:Such a dreadful building in a poor location. 20 min less than interesting walk into town. The garden and grounds are run down. Cigarette ends and litter as well. Room OK but not cleaned properly overnight Gluten Free bread was NOT GF which is stupid and dangerous

Review 30:Leaving

Review 31:Great location near Mosel river, walking distance to the Deutsches Eck and Old Town. Friendly personnel and clean rooms. Great variety at breakfast. Big and quiet terrace near Mosel river. Numerous parking places.

Review 32:A nice hotel , with good breakfast and rooms designed particulary, you can have dinner or breakfest on the terrace, the personal is very helpfull, i recomend it for the position and for the cleanence of the hotel

Review 33:Nothing really bad to say!

Review 34:Comfy, friendly, and a little leftfield. Really nice big room, very good breakfast, nice bar with seating outside. Unusual themes in the hotel were interesting and made the stay a little different. Very good overall. Helpful staff. Walk into the centre of town along the river took around 30 mind to find plenty of bars and restaurants. Underground parking for cars and bikes.

Review 35:Bed was a bit hard, but that's a personal thing

Review 36:The room was great, spacious, everything clean and in good condition. The back garden was very nice. Pity that the location it's a bit far from the attractions, but with a 25 minutes walk along the river you can get there.

Review 37:there are color towels in the room and these look a bit old... It's natural when you have colored towels ;) Minor detail

Review 38:when we arrived there, we were a bit surprised by the colorful entrance, but when we read the message on the wall we were immediately captivated;) Staff is friendly, rooms are clean and well furnished The breakfast was amazing :)

Review 39:It is not located as close to the center as it was said in the website. The room had no refrigerator nor coffe or tee pot. Apart from the expensive room the breakfast was not included. Addtl 11€ per guest. Not a single sign or instrcutions were in Other languaje apart from German.

Review 40:the bed was good The personal was attentive Bathroom espacious and clean

Review 41:Although the odd retro look with all the ornaments shouldn't have worked - it did. And it was all spotless. A place with heart. Loved it. Beds extremely comfortable, rooms well designed and breakfast excellent.

Review 42:The unusual look of the hotel from outside

Review 43:The well equipped, clean and quiet room and the gorgeous breakfast buffet (even lactose free cheese is available)

Review 44:Booking com offered more comfortable room with kitchen per extra payment 30,00 EUR. We confirmed . But we were very surprized that was not any equipment in kitchen ! Zero ! In reception requested to pay plus additional 30,00 EUR per plates, spoons and other !!! 30 + 30 = 60 EUR.This price was not estimate in any price list or info list. " Pool without water"... I am not recomend this hotel.

Review 45:- bedsheets were too 'stiff', and the product to make them that way tends to give me a rash. - a number of rooms have a little kitchen, but it's empty ( a simple water heater wood have been nice. A lot of hotels have this. )

Review 46:- design - clean room - comfortable bed ( despite the stiff bedsheets, I slept quite wel ) - excellent well balanced breakfast - easy accessable and free underground garage.

Review 47:WiFi marginal.

Review 48:The service, location, ambiance and quality of the restaurant were excellent. I'd definitely recommend this hotel to others. We loved it~

Review 49:Today, I should not have to go back to reception to ask for a wi-fi code. It sould be given at check in...everybody wants wi-fi! I opted to pay for my breakfast and not have it on the room rate. I was presented with the bill and card machine mid breakfast, no way would the lady wait till we had finished...really I was not going to run off... This could be a really great hotel..it needs a bit of a shake up on the customer service.

Review 50:Restaurant is excellent Large rooms and bathrooms Quirky decoration

Review 51:If you want wifi then stay away. The wifi is terrible. Our devices were constantly dropping off the network, and even when connected it took ages to download a simple page. I used data roaming eventually as it was less frustrating. Although the inside of the hotel is amusingly decorated, the hotel itself is in an unfortunate location. It's on the Mosel, but the neighbourhood is not very pretty. Also it's quite a long way from the town centre, more like 20 minutes brisk walk.

Review 52:The hotel is decorated in a very unique style, which is very haphazard. A mixture of quality fixtures like the wooden room doors, and tacky Artex walls. Odd artefacts like antique sewing machines contrast with modern furniture like the sofa styled like the rear of a VW Beetle. We found the overall effect quite amusing, though it couldn't be called elegant. Our room was large and clean, and the staff were friendly. Breakfast was good, and there is plenty of off-road (underground) parking.

Review 53:The staff was friendly and helpful. The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast was really good, too! The decor and layout is interesting but overall it was a great stay!

Review 54:Would have been nice if there was a kettle available to make coffee or tea in the room.

Review 55:The rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. The staff were courteous and accommodating. Nice walk along the Moselle river to where it meets the Rhine. Great underground carparking.

Review 56:The WiFi worked but seemed a bit slow The touch sensitive bedside lamp was good, once I had realised that it was not a faulty conventional light !

Review 57:Quiet , comfortable setting, with friendly and efficient staff. Promixity to the Mosel river made for peaceful strolling

Review 58:The hotel's very comfortable. It has many pleasant areas to sit and relax. The beer garden is nicely situated along side the Moselle. The building style of the hotel is unique and enjoyable. The restaurant's service and food are very good albeit a bit pricey. Buffett breakfast is exceptional.

Review 59:The WiFi in the hotel is very poor almost everywhere on the premises. I found it very difficult to use it as sites loaded incredibly slow. I asked about it in the reception and the staff seemed to know about this and acted liked it was not breaking news. They allowed me to use the lobby computer for free (it was a bit faster) but still this was annoying problem as I needed to check/book outgoing flights.

Review 60:Good spacious rooms with excellent beds, a good bathroom and nice breakfast.

Review 61:The restaurant was only quite 'average', we didn't really enjoy our meal although the restaurant had a very pleasant atmosphere plus one of the staff members, whose English was quite good, was more suited to a place where she didn't have to cope with anyone who wasn't German, someone in the wrong job.

Review 62:Spacious room. good ambience. The hotel was decorated by someone other than the usual hotel decorators, not way out but pleasant and interesting. We booed through one of the 'room' websites and found it good.

Review 63:On the edge of the city center, you have to take the car to the center, there is ample of parking space in the center.

Review 64:Parking available, elevator to rooms.

Review 65:Large comfortable rooms with large single beds, Large bath/shower room. The old quarter of Koblenz is in reasonable waking distance down a footpath by the Mosel river with lots to see and do. Hotel has large open areas with good seating, also has a huge beer garden around a pond behind the hotel, great on a sunny day. Has its own restaurant. Interesting hotel with ponds with fish at the front and small bridges to access hotel

Review 66:There was no air conditioning and the afternoon temp reached 30degrees Also no fridge in the room.

Review 67:The room was comfortable and large. The evening meal and the breakfast was excellent. The staff were very friendly. There was plenty of free parking in the underground car park

Review 68:Outdoor area in back was nice in July but wasn't told it was there upon arrival so didn't find it til second day and had to continue on trip. Would enjoy a couple days in koblenz and staying at this hotel.

Review 69:Our room was almost directly above the lobby and the wifi was terrible. There is an appreciable amount of personality in the decor, but it's starting to look dated.

Review 70:The staff were terrific. We had a great dinner in the restaurant that was easy on the wallet. The room was huge and with VAT it was under 100 Euros.

Review 71:At the end of the hotel where are room was there was a gym which had a rubber floor, and the smell of rubber was horrible.

Review 72:Our room was huge, very clean, the decoration inside and out, not too far from the city, easy 20 minute walk.

Review 73:No air conditioner (which was not a problem as it was pretty cool), no good views from the window in the room. Hotel is located in the business park. Slow Wi-Fi

Review 74:Nice rooms, free parking and plenty of it, very nice staff, 20 min walk to the city, great food, amazing breakfast, quiet and relaxing, nice beer garden and close to the Rhine river if you want to take a walk or run. I like the decor and the exterior of the hotel - one of a kind but very cute

Review 86:Wifi was very poor.

Review 87:Excellent staff with a can do attitude.

Review 88:nothing

Review 89:Great place to stay in Koblenz

Review 90:A bit expensive, but maybe because ther was a summer feast in town

Review 91:All good, especially when coming by car.

Review 92:Wonderful!

Review 93:big room, friendly staff. Bit of a walk in to Koblenz but worth it.

Review 94:No coffee making facilities in the room.

Review 95:Good location and very helpful staff.

Review 96:Nothing

Review 97:Quirky decor

Review 98:Good location next to the river with a footpath to the centre of the town. Secure underground parking accessible from within the hotel.

Review 99:the quirkiness of the Hotel in a good way, something different , but totally enjoyable

Review 100:The Gaudi-esque approach to the hotel style and decoration. Excellent underground parking garage.

Review 101:distance from centre, although it only took around 15 mins stroll along the river.

Review 102:Staff were excellent, breakfast best of entire trip

Review 103:Locality

Review 104:Great staff, fantastically thought out and well managed.

Review 105:Nothing to complain about

Review 107:The special rooms and the nice walk into town by the river, and the extensive breakfast.

Review 108:The whole design of the building. Cosy place!

Review 109:Design, short way to city.

Review 110:Stay too short!

Review 111:Room,staff,food,all superb. Hotel spotless. Fittings beautiful.

Review 112:33 Euro for a sofa bed

Review 113:The only thing that I would have liked that wasn't there was some air con., but that is a very minor quibble.

Review 114:Friendly, quiet. Good gym.

Review 115:Room was grand. Staff accommodating. Easy walk along river to historic areas.

Review 116:The restaurant staff positive attitude and willingness to serve me a cheese & ham sandwich + a beer, well after normal dinner hours on a Sunday!

Review 117:Car park was not indicated outside on arrival.

Review 118:Fantastic hotel.

Review 119:The bed was amazingly good. The room was huge. Calm and relaxing place.

Review 120:The beer garden and dining room were very nice.
