Reviews for Diehl's Hotel
Review 1:Food is expensive and bad. Service is even worse. If I didn't double check the check-out bill, I would had paid something which I didn't get, and I didn't hear any excuse afterward.
Review 2:Bathroom is clean and confortable, and free parking
Review 3:Very comfortable hotel right on the Rhine. Our room overlooked the river-great view of the constant river traffic. The hotel staff were very pleasant and helpful.
Review 4:Our first room had a most dreadful smell of drains. The staff very obligingly allowed us to change rooms but we were charged more for the second, very slightly larger room - which did not seem that fair as it was not our fault that the first room had such an overpowering smell of sewage and drains.
Review 5:The Location is really great. Views of the river are a must! Staff are, on the whole, very helpful and friendly.
Review 6:Everything was fine...the bar was a little slow later in the evening.
Review 7:The small ferry across the Rhein is 50 meters away. Takes you right into town. Easy to get around.
Review 8:Enterens to the small swimingpool was free, but the Sauna costed extra.
Review 9:Close to the Rhine and the Fortress Erenbretstine.Nice view from the room. Good breakfast and friendly Staff. Free parking.
Review 10:The only way to cross the river to the old town is by a very long walk to the bridge or by a ferry that runs across the river. Not ideal for since it stopped at 6 pm.
Review 11:Located right on the Rhine which gives beautiful views of the city.
Review 12:Service in the restaurant a bit slow during busy periods- seemed to be understaffed.
Review 13:Very nice room, with a lovely view of the river. Lots of interesting history, artifacts dotted around the hotel.
Review 14:We were given a smoking room which could have been a problem if there was a smell of tobacco. However the room smelt ok.
Review 15:Staff helpful. Clean. Value for money. Good views from the room.
Review 16:Our room had stationary metal blinds that hung outside our windows so we could not really see the beautiful view of the river.
Review 17:Excellent location with a beautiful view of the river.
Review 18:very basic rooms. Very poor breakfast. If you don't like processed sausage this is definitely not for you. Staff quite unhelpful except for the lady who made coffee for us
Review 19:Very little
Review 20:It's hard not to love Koblenz. A true gem in Germany, one of the most beautiful citys I've visited. One just doesn't want to leave when time's up, and one always make plans for a return in short time. Diehls hotel with that amazing view and that really serviceminded staff, is just like rest of Koblenz. You want to return and return and eventually stay there forever.
Review 21:one receptionist was not happy that I had asked to clarify the bill, and didn't show me the breakdown until I'd paid poor information regarding transport to the other side of the river, where the restaurants and sights were located
Review 22:comfortable, clean hotel excellent food in the restaurant most staff friendly and helpful beautiful view
Review 23:Dinner at restaurant is priced far too high for its limited gastronomic merits
Review 24:Location is fabulous, if you have a room with Rhine view; rooms at the other side are a few meters away from a busy railway.Rooms are spacious. Easy private parking facilities, but not closed nor guarded.
Review 25:Some management issues. I never normally complain, however this hotel has some problems in my opinion. The management is complacent regarding the running of the hotel. We booked for an evening meal and ended with attention 50minutes after our arrival. When we spoke to the manager the following day, he said that they were surprised by the number of people wanting to eat. I am not convinced by this! Waiting staff were great!
Review 26:Great location with ferry to take you to town centre. We were always alone in the pool. Breakfast excellent. Some staff outstanding.
Review 27:...we would not come back! The trains, the trains and the trains go all the time. Even if no rooms look to the back we couldn't sleep with open windows. Wifi was a bit lost at time.
Review 28:The view on Koblenz is great. The fortress is in walking distance (if one doesn't mind the climb). There is a big parking and hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. The food in the restaurant was good, with a breathtaking view over the Rhein and parts of the old town. The old town is in walking distance or one can use the little boat to cross the river. All in all a great location BUT...
Review 29:No convenience stores nearby for things like bottled water etc.
Review 30:Location is excellent as we both love to walk, service at reception was exceptional, waiting staff very friendly and helpful, a well run establishment on all levels, and the sound proofing of rooms amazed us.
Review 31:Hotel is located across river from town. Ferry service ends at 6 pm so only way to get back and forth is to use a taxi service, walk 25 minutes or rent bikes. Beds very firm, breakfast cost 15€ per person.
Review 32:View from rooms amazing.
Review 33:Pool very small if that is a problem
Review 34:Lovely hotel overlooking river Rhine very high standard quite traditional nice room layout staff very helpful food very good breakfast excellent
Review 35:Booked a table in the restaurant a few weeks before our stay. confirmed it with reception on arrival. on arrival at restaurant there was no reservation. Receptionist explained to waiter that we had a booking (in German) we then stood waiting while they argued over whether or not we had a reservation then waiter begrudgingly took us to a table for six laid out for two (no reservation tag on it. Left us the wine menu. 5 min later still waiting for anyone to acknowledge us. Caught attention of another waiter who saw us and walked in the other direction. Waited for some time again and eventually walked out explaining that we were not happy with our reception. Restaurant did not have a happy atmosphere. Ferry did not run on a Monday which reception failed to tell us and hotel is a bus ride away from centre.
Review 36:View from hotel good. Nice bathroom. Lovely welcoming pizzeria in Ppaffendorf ten minute walk from hotel which is where we went after our experience in the restaurant.
Review 37:This is a no-smoking hotel, unfortunately, the guest who used the room before us had been smoking in the room. We went back to the reception desk and the lady was very apologetic and gave us the room next door, very pleasant and nicely situated overlooking the Rhine and Koblenz.
Review 38:Friendly staff, good food, close enough to hop on the river ferry into Koblenz. Good parking facilities.
Review 39:No air con, window difficult to open/shut, no plugs near dressing table, no mirror on dressing table, a little tired. Staff very pleasant but service slow.
Review 40:Very nice location despite proximity to the railway line, very friendly staff, clean and tidy, nice ambiance.
Review 41:Seemed unable to obtain a basic snack in the evening . Was directed to the outside bar but half the menu wasn't available
Review 42:Views across the river whilst taking drinks at the outside bar
Review 43:Bad smell in room from kitchen. Worse smell in bathroom especially mouldy shower. Blinds at window filthy. No extra blankets or pillows & too hot to sleep in duvet. Wifi kept shutting down & only free 3 days when stayed 4. Charge for wifi in lobby so not free wifi as advertised. Outside scruffy & unattractive. Half hour walk from station as directed but then had to wait half hour in the rain for ferry to get to hotel on other side of river. Then had to wait wet in lobby when we arrived 20 mins early for check in. Not 4 star treatment!
Review 44:Lobby & restaurant looked like 4 star. But not the rest of hotel. View of river lovely. Outside cafe/bar great.
Review 45:The staff leaves much to be desired in customer service, they appeared to be engaged in everything but the front desk. Their parking is very inadequate, and there are no alternatives because of the isolated location. Add insult to injury, the bill was not correct, which was discovered after the front desk had placed it in the envelope.
Review 46:The restaurant staff ranked from confused to non attentive! Wines didn't arrive with the food, excuse : oh, I forgot! Happened several times! Place was not busy and plenty of staff around, so, no excuse!
Review 47:The restaurant offered excellent food and a wide selection of wines from the region!
Review 48:Too noise. Too many extra charges Wifi didn't work well.
Review 49:It was nice on water but really couldn't see it. The room is extremely noisy so ear plugs were needed
Review 50:For a four star hotel was surprised to find no tea / coffee making facilities in the rooms nor a safe . The restaurant choice was quite limited.
Review 51:Staff were very good, polite & efficient & reacted positively if we requested any thing Breakfast was good, large choice River view rooms comfortable, air conditioning was good
Review 52:ok the trains pass quite near and frequent and a little bit noisy but the position & quality, just ha ve a night cap before going to bed
Review 53:the free covered parking for m-bikes,large bedrooms good stranded,THE RIVER VIEW fantastic, the friendly staff especially Jimmy the barman we got to know him v well came out with us for a pint,
Review 54:The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The hotel is immaculately clean and very well appointed. It is situated in a beautiful location on the bank of the Rhine river.
Review 55:Location : along the river, under the castle, palace on the other side of the river and in your window view. Restaurant is good. Free parking, wifi is ok. 位置不错,河景无敌。Wi-Fi还行。
Review 56:Slightly put off by railway line at rear of hotel but once in the building wasn't aware of any noise. Satnav went a little mad on roads near the bridge.
Review 57:Panoramic view from room which was huge. Very lucky with the wheather late April - 25 degrees so could make the most of outside drinks and eating. Dinner first class.
Review 58:No functioning wifi Complaints were treated with indifferene; Services annonced on website were mot abailable eg massages Bathroom was very old fashioned!!
Review 59:View
Review 60:One mattress was fine, the other was lumpy. Only 1 pillow each.. Our room was at the end of the corridor where apparently the money had run out to finish the improvement works. Hence holes in walls, exposed piping and wiring. The meal was fine but hugely pricey with interminably slow service by youngsters who hadn't been trained well enough to know about the drinks and meals. Luckily we were in no rush and the wonderful setting meant we ended up finding the whole experience funny. The general service at reception was strangely indifferent (e.g. no reliable information about local services such as the funicular to the fortress or the ferry across the river) and also misleading e.g. said breakfast finished at 10 whereas there was a mass bunfight still going on when we checked out after 11. And all this for a relatively high nightly rate. Shame that the delivery didn't match the potential of the location. One night was more than enough...
Review 61:All bedrooms have a great view of the river and the Altstadt, as does the restaurant. The bedroom furniture was stylish and as it was right at the far end we heard nothing apart from the trains. The evening meal there was high quality and the view at night made it a very romantic setting.
Review 62:Even if lots of people helped with the not working wifi it did not change the fact that it only worked for 10 min. For guests that dont internet the hotel is a great and relaxing place ( lots of wellness offers) but for people traveling on business it is not an option
Review 63:The friendly stuff, got a free room update and people tried to help as the wifi did not work
Review 64:No wifi in the rooms.
Review 65:Arrival was well received and efficient. Well informed of hotel facilities by friendly staff. Although there is a railway line running directly behind the hotel, this didn't bother us too much. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent. First class service and an excellent a la carte menu. Breakfast was well laid out with a wide variety of choices. Overall a very enjoyable stay.
Review 66:Limited alternatives for meals other than those on main menu. it would have been nice to have other German or international options available
Review 67:quality of restaurant was excellent
Review 68:Your GPS will take you to the Hotel, but you "can't get there from here". The hotel is on the River and train track side of the road (43 I think). You have turn away from the hotel to the land side of the road and make your way back under the road to get there. The staff said that they cant put a larger sign on the road telling you which way to turn due to municipality rules. Certainly not a show stopper, but o little quirk you need to know about.
Review 69:Location was just across the river from the Downtown area and an easy walk. The view from the riverside rooms was awesome. Plenty of parking Well appointed and comfortable room. Breakfast was inclusive and good.
Review 70:Train rolling by constantly (seems like they ran through the bedroom). The hotel is renewing but we were tucked away in older rooms next to the trainrails. Swimming pool seemed not healthy (bad smell and oily impression) - we did not use it because we were afraid to get infected.
Review 71:Close to the city centre and the overwhelming castle. Excellent view over Rhine and Mosel. Helpfull, caring and polity staff. Good parking facilities. More than enough breakfast buffet of good quality.
Review 72:on both evenings of our stay, there were parties (wedding etc) in the restaurant, which made the whole ground floor very noisy. The pool and sauna area need a makeover. The mattrasses are too soft;
Review 73:location, view, room quite spacious and comfortable, breakfast OK, friendly staff.
Review 74:the walk around to the bridge was the only drawback but the views of river outweighed the walking required
Review 75:views of the river and Altstadt on the other side of river
Review 76:The ferry that links the hotel direct to the old town does not run after the start of November.
Review 77:Restaurant/food very good, had breakfast and dinner. Room extremely comfortable. Wonderful views from our room across the Rhine to the old town of Koblenz
Review 78:expensive prices on drinks , Norwegian price! have visited the hotel before dinner was all too small portion. we had agreed to have the room somewhat later , staff called many times. felt that now we should travel .
Review 79:Nice personnel. very good breakfast. Good beds! Nice view. good parking.
Review 80:The final bill. Wifi was tricky. Initially we suffered from hot room or noise from the railway, but then we worked out how the aircon worked! We didn't really like the Fortress but we will always be grateful to Frau Dr Justus for her kindness to us.
Review 81:All the staff were brilliant Great view of the Rhine. We liked Koblenz, and the walk into the city from the hotel.
Review 82:The sauna and pool facilities are awful, cramped and dated. Frankly, they should be embarrassed to allow guests to see them. And, they charged us extra to use them. This part of the hotel was so awful, broken and run down we almost checked out. Shockingly different from the rest of the hotel's facilities.
Review 83:The hotel staff, the room, the parking, the view and the restaurant were excellent. If you stay there, plan on eating at the restaurant -- it is amazing!
Review 84:Rather brusk off hand "night" staff. (Including some inappropriate language).
Review 85:Nice comfortable bedroom with great views across the Rhine. Undercover parking.
Review 86:Smell in the corridor on the first floor Unreliable WiFi
Review 87:Location Breakfast Assistance from reception with directions Bar fixed dinner after hours - Flexibility
Review 88:The ferry to the main area only runs from am to 5pm so if you miss this ferry you have a long walk over the bridge to get back to the hotel
Review 89:Very clean, good service except for one rude french bar tender.
Review 90:No free WiFi in rooms. Also only one English programme on TV. JUST CNN. IT COULD DO WITH A FEW EXTRA PROGRAMMES IN CASE OF BAD WEATHER.
Review 91:The hotel and its location close te Koblenz
Review 92:A bit hard to find your way to the hotel For 160 € per night I would have expected breakfast to be included but had to pay 30 € extra for a cuple. This is anoing
Review 93:Great location in front of the rhein river We had a very large double room which is very comfortable Great potential for for nice walk along the river
Review 94:Their site says the are only .5 km from the centre but that doesn't take into account they are on the other side of the river and the ferry closed at 6pm. Could go via bridge but certainly further than .5. Everything else was perfect
Review 95:Service at the restaurant was excellent - and they served dips and another tasting dish prior to delivering the best quality duck I have ever had - yum yum
Review 96:cant think of anything!!
Review 97:Multi lingual staff and very friendly. Location was ideal to Koblenz town, free parking and easy to drive to using a sat nav. Regular ferry across the Rhine for 2 euros. Also within 30 minutes walking from the tourist town centre over a nearby bridge. Easy taxi service to and from the hotel. Great buffet breakfast, very authentic and worth a visit. Easy acces from hotel to all routes south for Moselle river touring by car and motorways. Public bike rental available.Room size good with high spec amenities and recently refurshed. Mini bar in room. Excellent views of the Rhine and good reliable free wifi for all devices.
Review 98:bathroom was a combined bath & "semi" wet room. water from the wet area flowed out to the "dry" floor which had to be mopped up by towels. was charged for 2 bottles from the mini bar which we had not taken, but was corrected when I came back to complain.
Review 99:very friendly & helpful staff. we had a 3rd floor dual aspect room overlooking the river & city which was large & quiet. garage parking. short ferry ride to city.
Review 100:No welcoming tea making facilities. It should be mentioned in the details which side of the Rhine it is situated on and how to get there.
Review 101:Huge well appointed bedroom and bathroom and lovely balcony overlooking the Rhine. Friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable staff. Very clean and comfortable.
Review 102:Badly lacks an area to sit and relax. There was one area but we were told we could only use it when sunny! One staff member in the bar/restaurant seemed reluctant to find an English menu when we asked for one.
Review 103:Pleasant and helpful reception staff
Review 104:Freight & express trains 24/7 immediately next to hotel - very noisy! Also large rubbish skip below our bedroom window - could do better. Location on river good but doesn't make up for it.
Review 105:We were given half finished rooms without a telephone and rough finish in the bathroom. The worst aspect was the closeness to the rail line - every train that passed shook what seemed like an extension to the hotel making sleep impossible. We had stayed here some years back and had beautiful quiet rooms. These new rooms are not fit to be rented out and should become store rooms. It spoiled our stay completely.
Review 106:The Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast was superb. The location is ideal.
Review 107:Train noise - guests should .know before booking No proper public lounge or rest area
Review 108:Views from hotel as our room faced the Rhine. Comfortable room.
Review 109:Too close to the train lines, but did not notice noise after a while.
Review 110:Location right on the river, absolutely beautiful. Looking across river to Koblenz.
Review 111:Wifi was an optional extra at a cost which was disappointing for a hotel of this quality. The passenger ferry across the Rhine to the old town, 150 metres from the hotel stopped running at 6pm.
Review 112:The location of the hotel is right on the banks of the Rhine and the room was beautiful with views over the Rhine to Koblenz old town. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the food in the restaurant delicious. There is a railway track for goods trains which runs within metres of the rear of the hotel, but this wasn't noticeable once in the hotel.
Review 113:Bit over priced. Breakfast cost extra. Bathroom shower was a strange shape and toilet stuck in corner behind door.
Review 114:Good location. Not far from ferry to go to the other.
Review 115:The charge for breakfast too high.
Review 116:The room and bathroom stylish and comfortable. Wonderful view of the old town and the Rhine from the window. Close to the ferry and bus stop.
Review 117:Both night lamps in room did not work. Located right alongside a railroad track; no where did it mention that when I booked it. Something wrong with air-conditioning in room ... sounded incredibly noisy. Thought it was the plumbing till we turned it off. So had to sleep with window open -- the noise of trains was better than noise of air conditioning.
Review 118:Food was outstanding Location was very good Staff were very friendly and helpful. Noted they were in process of doing some upgrades which is very good.
Review 119:1)wifi impossible to get on the phone..very annoying!Bad connection. 2)Old building and surely not a 4 star *i guess 20 years ago it was great but now it is old, 3)difficult to find your way in the building and it certainly needs a restoration 4) by checking out, not a question if i was satisfied and liked the stay.
Review 120:Woman at the reception was very friendly.
Review 121:The only downside is that the evening menu did not offer enough choice. We stayed three nights, and the menu didn't change which meant that we had to eat out on two nights.
Review 122:Almost everything was absolutely top class. Excellent location overlooking the Rhein. Thoroughly recommended. Breakfasts were superb, with a huge choice.
Review 123:Wi-fi while free was a little fiddly. Only a small issue though.
Review 124:I was very satisfied with the experience, the staff, the cleanliness and comfort of the rooms. There was a ferry from near the hotel to the other side of the Rhine and when that was not available it was possible to walk over the bridge.
Review 125:No "major" issues, just not much individual style. Location a bit off the beaten path but that was ok for us. Near a railroad track but we could not hear this much from our room. Faint odor when entering our room, but went away after ventilating.
Review 126:Very friendly staff. Clean and comfortable room with nice view.
Review 127:Access to town took effort through ferry or bus. Little worth visiting in local area of Ehrenbreitstein.
Review 128:View from the room and terrace. Helpful and friendly staff. Food and drink in the restaurant.
Review 129:Across from Rhine boats so you had to rely on the unreliable ferry across, or walk about a 1/2 mile across the bridge
Review 130:Great location, path right along the river
Review 131:Noise from very close train lines not good if you are a light sleeper- perhaps worse at back of hotel where we were. Lack of alternative restaurants on this side of the river limits your choice at night unless you taxi or bike into town
Review 132:Lovely view over the Rhine, nice staff at reception, comfortable and clean. Restaurant good quality but lacked facility for a less formal meal in the evening. Good parking and bike storage, access to town fine by ferry up to 6pm and fine if you can cycle in later. Didn't use the spa, v small pool but treatments on offer looked reasonably priced. Good base for a Rhineland holiday and Koblenz is an attractive town
Review 133:Wifi can only allow one device to be connected at the same time Breakfast is a bit expensive
Review 134:Nice room with view of the river Good connection with driving route and ferry
Review 135:Nothing
Review 136:Very comfortable room with lovely river-view. Easy, secure, free parking. Excellent restaurant with lovely riverside terrace and very helpful, friendly staff
Review 137:Breakfast not included in the price, too expensive.
Review 138:Nice location. Fantastic view. Charming surroundings. Buy Your breakfast at the local cafe. Take the boat across the river!
Review 139:Sometimes the room cleaning was late in the afternoon which was inconvenient after we had been out all morning. (Always immaculately done though ! )
Review 140:Closeness to cycle routes on rhine.
Review 141:Great location with fantastic terrace and bar set on the banks of the river. There was a BBQ when we stayed and the food was excellent. Would definitely stay here again.
Review 142:Shown to room not serviced from previous guest, took a while to get this across to staff. No phone in room. Aircon would not work, staff couldn't fix. Bathroom "unfinished" after ongoing refurb.. Hairdryer would dangle in sink as no hook. No shower curtain. Absent radiator. TV not flat screen as described. Building work on corridor with pervasive smell of dust due to missing wall to one room on corridor covered by thin plastic sheet wafting in the breeze and fully open to the outside on opposite wall. Health and safety? No. No apology for any of this when pointed out at checkout time. Check if all building works completed before considering a stay here.
Review 143:Car park was OK.
