Reviews for Hotel Scholz

Review 1:The property was a little worn out, especially the hallways and stairways. It was further from the train station than I thought, but had convenient bus stop close by. Few food options nearby.

Review 2:Helga, the owner of the property was extremely helpful. Confirmed train schedules, taxi transfers and helped us plan visits to castles on the Rhine. Excellent breakfast buffet!

Review 3:Couldn't figure out how to work the very strange lighted mirror/radio in the bathroom? Quite funny really!

Review 4:Very friendly and helpful staff greets when we arrive. Clean (small) room with comfortable beds. Lovely walk to the old town (20 minutes). Huge variety for breakfast. Would definitely stay again!

Review 5:Nothing...it was great!

Review 6:The parking was great. We were able to park right in front of hotel with no charge and the area was safe. The staff was wonderful. The woman (maybe the owner?) who checked us in gave us a larger room that was very nice. As an older couple the elevator was a plus. The bed was very comfortable. The restaurant on site was very good with a very friendly staff. The breakfast buffet was amazing. So many choices and great food! It was more of a brunch than a breakfast! Would highly recommend this place. The combined cost of dinner (with cognac and beer) and our room was less than we would expect to pay for the room alone!

Review 7:Restaurant service was extremely slow. Not good with tired, young kids. Took us 2 hrs for very simple order.

Review 8:Great price, rooms small but have everything you need. Kids loved gummi bears on the pillow - surprise treat! Amazing delicious breakfast!

Review 9:The lady in the front was super helpful! I told her that it was my first time in town and I was traveling with myself and asked for recommendations on what to do. She was very nice and pulled out a map and showed me the things I could do. Also, I wanted to take the KD Rhine River the next day and eventually take a train to Frankfurt. She was nice enough to help plan my itinerary. My room was nice and clean. I enjoyed my stay :)

Review 10:The room was pretty ordinary at the very rear of the hotel. We needed to have air in the room so when windows are open we could smell the overflowing garbage at the rear of the building. Fir value of hotels we had been getting for the last 2 months travel this hotel was expensive for the room. But it is very clean and beds comfortable

Review 11:Breakfast and a meal we had when we arrived. Staff excellent

Review 12:Not the most modern fashioned hotel, but works are going on !

Review 13:Very nice breakfast, good beds, and lots of space in room and bathroom. Friendly staff ! Really nice to stay, actually I would like to come back here next time in Koblenz !

Review 14:Facilities & furniture are worn out Non 24h reception Non walking distance from "everything" in Koblenz

Review 15:Exceptionally clean Very good breakfast Grocery shop and buss stop nearby Nice restaurant in hotel

Review 16:Logic of automated controlling light and heat in the room is not understandable. System works independently from the user and it is imposible to make corrections.

Review 17:Good location not far from the city centre, substantial breakfast and dinner. Friendly staff is always ready to help.

Review 18:The bathroom fan was too loud and some of the people had hard time to fall a sleep.

Review 19:The service was fantastic. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was OK, not amazing but we weren't hungry. and the location was very close to the center.

Review 20:Personally, I prefer more effective curtains (surprised that there were no blinds) and the extractor in the bathroom could do with a boost facility.

Review 21:Most importantly all of the Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was enjoyable - large choice - and good coffee! Good timings for B/F and check out. Location allows for free parking, and not too far from the Altstadt.

Review 22:We asked for a non smoking room, we got it however, as it was one of the only ones on the floor which were non smoking the smell from the smoking rooms penetrated our room, the corridors stunk of stale cigarettes and so did our room. Very old outdated room and generally hotel needs a major update. Bed so uncomfortable and moved did not feel stable. It was almost a 30-40 mins to walk to the old part of Koblenz so not a good location at all. Parking on street or round the back which was dark and did not look secure. Would not recommend.

Review 23:Breakfast wasn't to bad. The reception, breakfast area and downstairs quite modern rest of hotel very outdated and desperately needs a major upgrade.

Review 24:I cannot really complain about my stay, no problems with the hotel and I was more than happy with my stay there.

Review 25:Friendly staff, nice location, on direct bus route to town centre and other attractions.

Review 26:Not really easy walking distance to downtown restaurants.

Review 27:Adequate, clean and a good breakfast. Owner graciously did our laundry for us, when we asked if there was somplace that we could do it.

Review 28:I liked staying in a local, family owned facility, with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The restaurant food was very good, with generous portions and friend service. Thank you for a very nice stay!

Review 29:The hotel does not have an aspect.

Review 30:This is a great hotel for a stopover. Booked at the last minute. The rooms were basic, but spotlessly clean. The staff were professional and accommodating.

Review 31:If I have to nag, maybe a bit aged environment. But who cares if you look at al the pluses.

Review 32:Staff Hospitality Location Restaurant Breakfast Admosphere German

Review 33:Nothing.

Review 34:Well run, efficient and clean. Staff neatly dressed at all times and always willing to help in any way. Room was great and the beds very comfortable. The room was cleaned every day. Breakfast was excellent and the meals we had in the restaurant were properly cooked and presented. We will certainly stay there next time we are in Koblenz. A great find!

Review 35:Breakfast, service, cleanliness, staff. Once we got the "lay of the land" location was just fine. Great for cyclo tourists. Staff could not be more helpful!!! Bu Ike rentals a plus!

Review 36:too far away from the old city and the river

Review 37:wonderful and delicious breakfast

Review 38:Small TV offset and low on the wall. Volume preset rather low had to sit next to TV to hear properly.

Review 84:Spacious room.

Review 85:Very kind personell, excellent breakfast, inexpensive parking.

Review 86:The lack of air conditioning in the room.

Review 87:The staff was excellent!

Review 88:Good location, friendly staff who were always available to help.Good facilities. Would stay here again. Recommend this hotel.

Review 89:No ac or fan. Our son had a single with only one window & it was warm.

Review 90:Staff was friendly. Able to park right in front of hotel. Room was decent size & nicely decorated. Breakfast was delicious. Had requested a quiet room & got one. Wifi was good.

Review 91:They didn't specify that the rooms you book are smoking rooms. Notclose to downtown or any of the major attractions. Nothing centrallylocated. Rooms are next to a busy street, could hear everything atnight. Restaurant in the hotel was closed when we checked in.

Review 92:Staff was very friendly.Pet-friendly. Breakfast included.

Review 93:It is a bit away from the main attractions, but we walked it daily. Transportation is, however, right out the door & would get you around easily.

Review 94:Hospitality at it's best, beyond anything we've seen so far!!! Professional, competent cheerful staff that wanted to serve our needs. Sumptuous breakfast. Wish they were in every town!

Review 95:Since there is only a pizzaria in the vicinity, the restaurant should offer more dinner options and stay open until a bit later.

Review 96:Quiet and friendly hotel, confortable and clean. Very conveniente since it has 2 bus stops in front of the entrance and it is within a walking distance to the centre. Free wifi on rooms and a good breakfast. Good value for money.

Review 97:the rooms where clean and comfortable for a budget hotel. the staff where so helpful as we could not speak germany.they directed usto some hard to find locations we where there on sunday the day all shuts but the hotel had everthing. i will stay again

Review 98:Location, the area around the hotel ist probably not koblenz's best and nicest, but is far away from beeing a bad neighborhood. The centre of koblenz is away approx. a 1 1/2 mile footwalk.

Review 99:Very clean rooms with newly renovated bathrooms. Staff (especially waiter) was just awesome! They have a own garage for your bicycle with air pump, chain grease and oil.

Review 100:The hotel is old, but well kept. However it is good value for money.

Review 101:The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly, gave us a lot of useful information, and made our stay really worthy. We actually extended our stay for further 2 nights. Bike rental facility is very convenient, you can take a ride along the Mossel river. breakfast was good.

Review 102:Very helpful staff and with my partner being quite allergic, the restaurant staff very helpful and made 'off the menu' something she would like (Gluten, wheat and dairy free)

Review 103:The place, between a kebab shop and old folks home. The parking, on a dirt lane way ro8und the back, The woeful room, furnishings, curtains, tiny apricot shower room with mouldy grout, the two school parties above and around us, the road noise, heat and lack of air conditioning. Walk to the train station took 45minutes, the old town 15 minutes more,

Review 104:Breakfast was fine.

Review 105:The rooms were very old, not renovated, our rooms were next to a busy street, could not have the windows open because of noise, smelled of smoke even though we had ordered non-smoking-rooms.

Review 106:Good location, breakfast ok

Review 107:Tea/coffee in room would have been good, but we knew it was not provided when we booked.

Review 108:Friendly, helpful staff. Good breakfast service, comfortable rooms. Free on road parking, off road hotel parking also available. Restaurant and bar on site. Easy road access to hotel. Pleasant 30 minute riverside walk to cable car at Deutsches Eck.

Review 109:This hotel was not our original choice for this area and we found its location to be not ideal. In addition we arrived on a Sunday when everything was closed including the hotel's own restaurant. The location of this hotel is in a mainly residential and built up area with no specific points of interest. We quickly found our way, by car, to the older part of Koblenz which is a charming area with plenty to see and do. Here, there are multiple choices for shopping, eating and activities. Finally, although we were supposed to have free Wi-Fi access there was in fact a daily charge; the free car parking was fairly nearby but out of sight from us and so we felt uncomfortable about leaving our car too far away from us. We therefore used street parking.

Review 110:Room accommodation was a very good size, spacious, reasonably comfortable and clean. The bathroom was large and well equipped, with fresh linen as required. Staff were helpful and gave some information regarding local eating places. We also ate at the hotel restaurant and found their prices etc to be very reasonable. Overall, good value for money.

Review 111:Owner not very friendly or helpful. Food good but not alwaysavailable. Mind your head if you are on the top floor and sleep onwindow side of room. 45 minute difficult walk to tourist attractions.Hotel seems to specialise in School Coach Trips who seem to getpreference over other guests.

Review 112:Bus service from outside hotel to the city's shopping centre.Breakfast good. Good Italian Restaurant nearby - this is closedon Mondays.

Review 113:Locations is not the best. You will need more then half hour to reach old town. Despite the big size of the room, it is obvious that this hotel need to be renovated. Carpet was dirty, shower utilities very old. Not worth money that we have spend.

Review 114:Big and spaceus rooms. Separate parents and childrens rooms.

Review 115:A long noisy walk into town. The bedroom was austere, to be kind to it.

Review 116:I had a good salad in the evening. The shower was quite good. Safe, off-street parking.

Review 117:Location not ideal. Good 20 min walk to old town and shopping areas. Ona bus route and staff very helpful - providing information on fares etcand umbrellas when it rained.

Review 118:Very friendly - did everything they could to make sure your stay wascomfortable and pleasant . Restaurant well priced - food tasty.Breakfast excellent - great selection . Also provided bike rental atgood price.

Review 119:There are slightly more central hotels, but if you don't mind a pleasant stroll to get into town (or a very short taxi ride) then the location is fine.

Review 120:the staff were excellent. I think the receptionist may have been the most helpful, friendliest one that I've ever met. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the breakfast was very good.

Review 121:Bedroom bright and clean, as was the bathroom, with a wet room type shower. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially Mrs Helga Scholz the proprietor. Good choice of food at breakfast, the breakfast room got busy, but staff ensured food was constantly replenished. Free parking on the street in front, and in the private car park at rear of hotel. Car could be safely left to sample river boats and local trains. Free WiFi throughout hotel. We thoroughly enjoyed our five night stay, and would stay again.

Review 122:There is supposed to be a no-smoking policy at the hotel, but my boyfriend and I had trouble getting to sleep the first night with smoke coming from another room and into our room. Also, we were a bit confused about the lighting system - in order to turn on the bathroom light we needed to turn on all the lights in the room. Maybe we just couldn't figure out exactly how it worked?

Review 123:The staff were very friendly. The breakfast was free and had some lovely options. It was a nice 15 minute walk into the Deutsches Eck along the river from the hotel.
