Reviews for Gasthof Sonne

Review 1:Nothing.

Review 2:All the people that work there are very nice, especially the owner who tries his best to make you feel good. Great breakfast, he cooks eggs and bacon at the moment. Right in the center of the lovely village

Review 3:Excellent breakfast and food in the restaurant. Clean and cosy traditional hotel. Very friendly and helpful staff. Great location in a beautiful square.

Review 4:Bath tower should replace daily automatically not until I requested on it.

Review 5:Food in the restaurant is nice, not too salty and oily. Room is in clean condition.

Review 6:No bad experiences possible here!

Review 7:Fabulous location, very friendly hosts, great breakfast, lovingly maintained hotel. If parking is full at the hotel, free parking available two minutes away

Review 8:Restaraunt service was bad and the wifi was terrible

Review 9:The location within the town and the building itself were lovely. Great view from the room. The food at the restaraunt was very good as well.

Review 10:The Gastof is in the centre of the lovely medieval village of Schiltach. The last time we stayed here on an outward journey a few years ago, this time we were on the route homeward. Without realising, our visit coincided with a major village festival to commemorate the logging history of the village apparently dating back to the 1300’s. The village square was fully occupied with stage and stalls. A band of lederhosen clad musicians were giving their all on the stag and the crowd was singing lustily. Our room was overlooking the square and we thought we might be in for a rowdy noisy night but in fact the noise faded before midnight. We had not been able to park in the square outside the hotel as would have been usual so we had found a parking space around the corner that was signed that we would be ok there until 10am the following day. As we turned the corner the following morning we were stopped in our tracks with the sight of a street market all down the street with our car in the middle of it. We had to do some careful negotiation with a very cross stall holder to avoid being trapped there for the day instead of continuing our journey into France. Apparently the officials who put up the market signs must have been late posting them over the sign we had checked. Eventually diplomacy prevailed and racks etc were carefully shifted to allow us to get our Range Rover out and weave its way between the rest of the stalls. Phew. Last time we called here a few years ago we lost the car keys. We rarely go back to the same place but I’m almost tempted to do an unprecedented third visit just to see what will happen next.

Review 11:Having to re sign into internet regularly. High cost of extra bed for a 3 year old.

Review 12:Excellent location right in the middle of old town. Friendly staff who were helpful when needing to find a baby sitter. Parking close by. Very good breakfast. I can't remember the name of the breakfast lady who was amazing with the kids. Children were left with baby sitter while we did zip lining close by - highly recommended and they were very accommodating. Beautiful rooms.

Review 13:Limited parking, even to unload. That said, there was ample safe parking near the hotel.

Review 14:The whole atmosphere was wonderful. Great location on a cobbled street.

Review 15:The water took a little while for it to warm up, but once it was warm there was plenty of it for a nice shower. Overall, it was a great place.

Review 16:Excellent location in the town center, clean rooms, good Wi-Fi, friendly owners, and good restaurant. I thought the schnitzel with pommes was delicious. Everything was perfect for my needs.

Review 17:Cobbled stones on a slope .not easy to manoeuvre motorbike.

Review 27:Excellent hotel. The staff were lovely. The breakfast and dinner was fantastic. The hotel is very neat and tidy.

Review 28:WiFi was unreliable and half the time connection would wait forever.

Review 29:Location, breakfast and staff

Review 30:Room very small. Small TV.

Review 31:Modern bathroom. Location in centre of town. Breakfast good.

Review 32:A bit too hot in the rooms, Internet is quite unstable.

Review 33:Staff.

Review 34:Old world village style

Review 35:Horrible bed, old and uncomfortable matraces, pillows awful.

Review 36:Location

Review 37:An amazing experience in this hotel, staffs are very friendly and helpful.

Review 38:Our bed was quite squeaky.

Review 39:The view, location, breakfast.

Review 40:The bedrooms are a little basic but clean, they could be made more attractive. The food in the restaurant could be better - rather tough meat!!

Review 41:The location in the centre of the village and the fact it was a typical old building with parking outside.

Review 42:Parking is not belong hotel, need to be care about parking regulation. We are fined almost.

Review 43:Near tourism information. Good view of restaurant. Breakfast issufficient.

Review 44:The hotel features individually-styled rooms, and ours was clean and comfortable with a view over the market square. The owners were friendly and welcoming.

Review 45:Quite a few stairs, entirely my fault, i should have asked for a ground floor room

Review 46:Staff were excellent, Schiltach is a beautiful town to stay, good location, food was very good value

Review 47:No Lift, and 3 flights of stairs so if you have mobility problems this hotel is not for you. No parking at the hotel but at a free public car park some 5 minutes walk away.

Review 48:Very friendly staff and excellent food. Hotel is in a great position and the themed rooms are quirky and fun. Breakfast also very good. Staff have little or no English, so if English is your first language you will have to learn a little bit of German.

Review 49:The hotel just seems a little dingy overall. Not dirty, just musty...

Review 50:After reading the reviews we were pleasantly surprised by the friendly staff- day and evening decidedly different customer service. The room was quaint, small but adequate. Same with the bathroom. The breakfast was, as previously described, "light", but nice to have. The location was perfect for being in central Schiltach- though a small town, hard to be far from anything. Being right on the Marketplace was nice for the view of the town and interesting buildings. We are early risers so the 6AM bells were no trouble at all...

Review 51:If you are visiting black forest, be sure to visit Schiltach; if you are visiting Schiltach, this hotel is the one you should go for. We were on our roadtrip traveling up from Switzerland that night. Since we left Switzerland rather late (around 8pm) we were quite worried that the hotel reception might have close by the time we arrive. When we did arrive at the hotel (around 11pm), it was raining and one of the staff was waiting for us in the open air car park removing the cone for us! He did not need to wait for us under the rain yet he did, which was so kind of him. He was friendly, informative and helpful in handling out information about the hotel when we check-in. The two double rooms that we booked were of different themes (they were beautiful) and spacious. Furthermore, they both overlooked the market place! The breakfast was light but we enjoyed it nonetheless. Nothing to complain about this hotel, definitely one of the very best hotel I have ever stayed!

Review 52:Curtains in room let in too much light from street.

Review 53:Fantastic rustic hotel in the heart of a quaint village with nice views of black forest. Very helpful staff and good authentic schwabian cuisinne in hotel. Appears to be a spot for local tourists which adds to charm. Several nearby hiking and biking trails.

Review 54:We loved this hotel. It is located right in the small town center and in a beautiful old wood building. The room was large, bright, clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and the restaurant in the hotel has fantastic dinners. Would recommend to everyone.

Review 55:I had requested something gluten-free for breakfast but there was nothing special provided, however the staff were happy to toast the bread I had brought with me from the last place.

Review 56:A very warm welcome with the chance to purchase a drink after a long drive. The room was quite spacious and well-equipped. Dinner at the hotel was excellent. It was good not to have to go out as it was cold and snowing. Breakfast was hearty. The weather prevented us from sight-seeing but it would normally be a lovely area. A great place to use as a base

Review 57:The rooms are little small.

Review 58:The place is nice. It's in the main city square. It's a tipical building...The people are very frendly and the place is very quite.

Review 59:It) Scale e scalini rendono difficile l'accesso con I bagagli especialmente con il passeggino. Il pavimento scricchiola. La finestrenon sono insonorizzate. En) Stairs and steps make the access difficultluggage and even worse with the stroller. The floor creaks. The windowsare not soundproof.

Review 60:It) Edificio molto bello in stile tradizionale sulla piazza conl'ufficio turistico. Stanze molto caratteristiche ma non kitsch.Colazione ricca e abbondante e ristorante con piatti tipici. Staffgiovane e gentile senza problemi con l'inglese. En) Very nice buildingin traditional style located in the central market square nearby thetourist information center. Rooms very characteristic but not kitschy.Generous and varied breakfast, tipical dishes available at restaurant.Young and kind staff with no problems with English.

Review 61:There is no lift.

Review 62:The staff was very helpful and pleasant. We stayed 7 days and had 6 wonderful dinners at the hotel. The trout and beef stakes prepared by the chef Markus Herrmann were exceptional! In spite that the hotel is located at the Market Place in Schiltach ,very central, we hadn't any problem in parking our car only four walking minutes from there.

Review 63:Absolutely nothing. We couldn't fault it.

Review 64:An excellent Hotel/Gasthof in the centre of a spectacular village market place, set in the middle of the Black Forest. The rooms were to a high standard, staff friendly, food excellent, and the breakfast was very well presented.

Review 65:As we arrived on a saturday evening, the tourist information was closed. The hotel lacked information on activities and attractions in the area, and since the staff could not speak much english, it was quite hard toplan our day trips.

Review 66:Very well decorated, new, and comfortable rooms, right in the middle ofschiltach. Easy to find on googlemaps, and in a very beautiful town. Also has a restaurant downstairs that seemed quite popular, butunfortunately we did not have the chance to try it.

Review 67:The Markplatz is located at the bottom of a steep hill with limited parking in front of the hotel. We were able to park fairly close on the cobblestone street that went up the hill, but anyone with limited mobility might have problems.

Review 68:The hotel is located right on the Markplatz and is surrounded by charming old half-timber houses. The rooms are comfortable and individually themed. We did not eat at the hotel, but did find several pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance.

Review 69:Our room was clean upon first inspection but it had flies, many flies. We cleared them out upon arrival and didn't open any windows. However, within an hour more came back. It made for an uncomfortable stay.

Review 70:The staff was very friendly.

Review 71:First night of our arrivals there was a party in the hotel, very loud and long, we was forced to go in the middle of the nigt in the other hotel. Weather is bad, rain all the time

Review 72:only location ist good

Review 73:All is good

Review 74:Delicious dinner and breakfast and friendly waitstaff.

Review 75:Friendly staff, good breakfast and a comfortable room in an excellent location! Good restaurant too

Review 76:A great place to stay, authentic building, center location, good atmosphere old town

Review 77:parking

Review 78:location, food, comfort

Review 79:no reception area and no welcome

Review 80:standard of the rooms

Review 81:Friendliness of staff!

Review 82:Wonderful little place! Darling town! We loved our stay.
