Reviews for Parkhotel Sonnenhof

Review 1:I stayed in this hotel for two weeks. Everything was good, either the room or the restaurant. Finally, i appreciated so much the reception's service, mostly when was Renata's turn!

Review 2:exercise equipment like bikes and treadmill in the gym was not working.

Review 3:Very friendly staff and atmosphere. Good service, and tasty breakfast. In addition a good welfare and SPA facilities

Review 4:The uncomfortable mattress and the problematic Wi-Fi.

Review 5:The facilities (sauna, swimming pool) and the friendly staff (especially the young lady at the reception).

Review 6:We had stayed here three years ago and there was a wonderful menu and chef in the hotel...truly delicious and attractive food. Now, there is a more family style restaurant with mostly buffet dinners. We preferred the first menu/restaurant.

Review 7:We impulsively chose this hotel three years ago, while on a road trip in Germany. We liked it very much, and decided to return again. This is not a fancy hotel, but rather very family oriented and with clean comfortable rooms featuring beautiful terraces adorned with window boxes of flowers and offering a gorgeous view of the mountains. Very family friendly, the hotel has a playroom for children, and they can even borrow toys and books to bring back to their guestroom. There are pleasant seating areas here and there with acquariums and bulletin boards featuring pictures of former guests. There is also a spa which offers quite a range of massages, beauty treatments etc. Noel enjoyed the steam room throughout our stay. Breakfast is included and is quite good. You are in easy walking distance to everything in town. There is a sense of warmth and casualness to this hotel which makes it a nice fit for the lovely little town of Oberemmagau. Don't expect fancy, but do expect comfort and beautiful views.

Review 8:The wifi didn't work at all. The receptionist was very not helpful. We needed to plan our next days but we needed to do it with the 2 old computers that the hotel shuts down after 22:00. We had to wake up early and plan the trip. Not enough parking space in the hotel.

Review 9:The hotel is nice in general, the rooms are huge. Nice location, lovely town.

Review 10:The narrow 1-person bed and soft mattress.

Review 11:Well kept hotel in local style, balcony, nice sauna and swimming pool. Beautiful surroundend by nature. Walking area with mountains and woods. Nice little town. Free busrides for hotelguests.

Review 12:There was supposed to be a restaurant, but they did not have a'la carte options when we were there. On a positive side they did direct us to other restaurants. The bed was quite uncomfortable. They also had unusually large pillows, which forced my legs to hang out of the otherwise normal bed. I woke up at 6am to the church bells that just kept on ringing.

Review 13:Breakfast was good

Review 14:There is parking available at the hotel, but it was not plentiful. However, you are allowed to park in nearby areas for free.

Review 15:The hotel was very nice! We booked three rooms, all three rooms were different and all were very nice! Especially room 214! The hotel has a lift (elevator) which was very handy for my dad! Beautiful views of the surrounding area! An easy walk to the shopping and restaurant area. The train station is a short drive from the hotel. We enjoyed dinner at the hotel and the food was delicious. The breakfast offered at the hotel was great. The offerings included eggs (scrambled and also soft boiled), bacon, meats, cheeses, fruit, cereal, salads and yogurts. The rooms were clean and spacious as well as the bathrooms! Although, the showers are the typical small spaces...I will certainly stay here again!

Review 16:The Reception Staff has been totally disinterested on my health issue and they were completely useless to solve my daily poroblem (i.e. calling doctor/pharmacist etc)when I was sick.

Review 17:The Staff Kitchen has been always available to support my requests when I was sick.

Review 18:Small room, small bathroom, dated interior, allocated breakfast tables but not labelled with names, poor evening meal options (didn't eat there though), limited parking close to the hotel.

Review 19:Location, cleanliness, wifi, view, balcony, warm

Review 20:bad was not so comfortable but not that bad as well

Review 21:I booked a junior suite at a good rate. room and bathroom are a bit dated but clean and anyway confortable. location is perfect to park a car and to visit the town.

Review 22:The facility was OK, but I found Oberammergau is not the same place I visited twenty-five years ago. The charm is gone and the shops are everywhere. The Passion Play has moved indoors, which while practical, how is this different than anywhere else.

Review 23:It was a clean facility and if you are into Oberammergau, it is a reasonable place in a great location.

Review 24:The gym facility is outdated: all the machines are old, not well maintained and should be replaced.

Review 25:Parking is available and for free. Staff is very friendly, helpful and willing to answer any question; they did also provide for free a temporary guest card to park in town and to use buses in the neighborhood. WIFI connection is available everywhere in the hotel, it is included in the room rate, and works very good. Room and bathroom is spacious and clean. Beds are comfortable and LCD television gets local and international channels. The international breakfast is very good with different choices and the dinner in the evening, served as a buffet, provides a good quality of food for a reasonable price.

Review 26:Room carpet not very clean Bathroom very small Food not brilliant quality, they compensated by providing large quantity Decor a bit tired and too "brown"

Review 27:Location Service at meals

Review 28:Restaurant meals expensive.

Review 29:Excellent location, easy walk into the town centre. Excellent views over the river to the town. Staff very friendly and helpful.

Review 30:Not so many parking area. We had to park outside which is not too far actually.

Review 31:Big room with nice balcony. Great view from the hotel. Hotel facilities are excellent as well as a breakfast has a many choices.

Review 32:very kind reception staff

Review 33:breakfast and facility

Review 34:Internet signal was very weak.

Review 35:Spa/Pool, restaurant, location

Review 36:Pillow size. It was too large.

Review 37:Breakfast

Review 38:Excellent service. Reception personnel was extremely friendly and helpful, managing to meet all clients' needs.

Review 39:Beautiful destination and nice view

Review 40:The spa and pool area are outstanding. a great way to relax!

Review 41:could not turn down the heating, very hot and uncomfortable night, had to sleep with the balcony door wide open

Review 42:very pretty location

Review 43:Very good hotel, with good restaurant inside. The breakfast was perfect and the room very large and comfortable.

Review 44:close enough to town to walk in and near to walking routes, train and bus station. staff could point out all the local highpoints, ski lifts etc.

Review 45:No Air conditioning with outside temps at 33 C degrees.

Review 46:Excellent Swimming Pool & Steam Room

Review 47:We had a balcony, there's a pool, it's in a nice location next to the river. Decent sized room, good price at last minute in August.

Review 48:Massage is not good

Review 49:Nice area

Review 50:Our 'double room' was a large apartment with a sitting room, walkin-closet etc and a balcony with a beautiful view.

Review 51:Proximity to the town and still being very quiet. Although the hotel is very dated it is spotlessly clean and comfortable.

Review 52:Eigentlich nichts ...

Review 53:Gut: Zimmer, Frühstück, Balkon, Aussicht, Parkplatz

Review 54:Great location with lots to do for kids

Review 55:staff not courteous regarding sitting for meals

Review 56:overall setting

Review 57:Good size bedroom, comfortable beds, large bathroom with shower, pleasant balcony, plentiful breakfast

Review 58:Amazing breakfast beautiful views wonderful staff :-)

Review 59:Bath-room very small. Limited dinner options: buffet or limited options

Review 60:Facilities.

Review 61:the room was divided in a separate living and bedroom - not cosy

Review 62:decent conditions for decent price

Review 63:the sofa cover

Review 64:very friendly and helpful staff, good quality of breakfast and dinner

Review 65:The bed was somewhat uncomfortable.

Review 66:The staff were very nice and spoke English. The spa area was nice and clean. The breakfast was very good.

Review 67:everything specially the staff

Review 68:Spacious rooms, awesome views, nice dining room and delicious breakfast. Spa facilities nice.

Review 69:Everything

Review 70:Front desk personnel (especially the younger one) was a bit unfriendly.

Review 71:Great location downtown, along the river, excellent wellness center, good rooms with beautiful view, very clean, working wi-fi, free parking in Oberammergau and surroundings included.

Review 72:Hotel is at a good location, close to the mountains and walking distance to the centre of town. We did a lot of walking and hiking, and the caves are good to visit.

Review 73:The limited a la carte dinner menu in the restaurant and the early closing time for dinner (20.30) make the hotel effectively a B&B, with dining-out pretty much a requirement for guests on a longer stay. In the bathroom the towels were too small and too few. The internet is fast, but limited to one device per room, which seems a bit out of date for the modern age.

Review 74:The location and staff are good, and the discount cards for use at local attractions and for car parking around the area are an excellent idea. The breakfast buffet was good and reserving tables for larger groups is a great idea. Our room (jnr suite, 112) was clean and spacious, with a generous balcony, although its location near the night-time entrance can lead to some noise. Car parking is ample and close to the hotel. The massage was rated highly.

Review 75:It was difficult to get a cup of tea when I wanted one and communicationto room service did not exist (I had to phone to reception). Food inrestaurant pretty average (although breakfast was good). No fridge inroom. Single duvet a bit thin and only one pillow

Review 76:Staff extremely helpful in all areas. Nice to have massage etc on tap.Great sauna. Lovely location. I extended my stay partly because theatmosphere was so convivial. I was updraded to a suite and this waslovely. Excellent value for money.

Review 77:Interior needs some money spent on it. Rather old-fashioned.

Review 78:Not a brilliant hotel, but in fairness it was inexpensive and therefore I got what was a fair value for money. Felt (and smelt, not in a bad way - probably the pine) like a budget ski-resort hotel that I used to go to when I was younger.

Review 79:The wi-fi could have been better - it was extremely slow (couldn't watch video feeds) & we had to re-log in & agree to terms every time we connected.

Review 80:Very cozy hotel with large modern rooms, a great staff, and a nice location along the river.

Review 81:I booked 2 rooms a double and a single for the 3 people in our group I was told by the reception staff that I had not made them aware it was for 3 people on checking my booking I had stated there were 3 persons in our group. when I had booked any way the problem was quickly resolved and I was satisfied with the outcome

Review 82:The hotels location is stunning and it is easy walking distance into Oberammergau.

Review 83:No tea or coffee making facilities in room. So take a travel kettle with you. Everything else was great.

Review 84:Very friendly and extremely helpful. Would certainly stay again. Breakfast was lovely .

Review 85:Parking: They have no parking place when I came 16.20 p.m. (it stands that the Hotel have a private parking place) Room: A very dark room and it has a smell of bad stomach. They don't offer me an another room !!! I did'nt sleep there - I found another - very cosy hotel with very friendly staff

Review 86:Nothing

Review 87:The young girl at the front desk told us that Linderhof was closed each Monday, which it is not....

Review 88:Our room was very comfortable and clean with beautiful views and a very nice breakfast.

Review 89:Place, service, comfortable and cozy number, the price and quality, sauna and the pool, breakfasts nourishing, a nursery, a refined cuisine at restaurant

Review 90:Nice village and Nice hôtel, good restaurant and Spa ok
