Reviews for Hotel Maximilian

Review 1:The Maximilian is a beautiful hotel with a very friendly staff and wonderful rooms. The restaurant in the hotel is fabulous - breakfast and dinner! The ambiance of the hotel is comfortable but sophisticated and it's in the most amazing Bavarian setting!!! We can't wait to visit again!!

Review 2:The Hote is right in the middle of Oberamergau. It is beautiful and each room is nicely appointed. We felt like we were staying in a spa hotel. Their restrauant was the best in town. The food was fabulous. The breakfast buffet was by far the best one we had on our 2 1/2 week trip. We loved this hotel and would definately stay again.

Review 3:The interior decor of the rooms is very nice. Apparently recently updated but incorporating the local elements. The exterior retains the quintessential Bavarian appearance so it was the perfect combination. The restaurant attached is very good and appears popular with the locals so it had an excellent ambiance in keeping with the region (brew-pub, Bavarian traditional specialities, etc.)

Review 4:The church bell ringing even during the night, but that's the way it has been for decades...

Review 5:Beautiful setting in the Alps. Quiet village. Quaint surroundings. We loved the cable car ride to Mount Laber.

Review 6:In the evening the Restaurant was overcrowded, I could not get in.. or order a meal in to room, no one from the staff helped me.. This is the only thing that wasnt perfect about this Hotel.

Review 7:Very good restaurant, Breakfast. Spa facilities, Free Parking. Wifi worked well, Nice Mountain Surroundings from outside the window.

Review 8:Small town road on which the hotel is located is fairly busy, so sleeping with a window opened may be noisy for a sensitive sleeper.

Review 9:Great hotel, conveniently located. Very nice restaurant.

Review 10:We had no bad experiences

Review 11:Excellent, helpful staff. Excellent food and the best house brewed beer in Germany! The hotel was modern and very well appointed. A lovely mixture of traditional Bayerish hospitality with modern comforts. Well done, we will be back!

Review 12:Beautiful alpine, boutique hotel that was impeccably clean with modern amenities. Dedicated staff who are proud of their hotel. Fantastic in-house restaurant. Close to the Linderhof Palace and an easy drive to the Neuschwanstein Castle. Would love to go back again.

Review 13:Perfect location for exploring the area, wonderful staff, beautiful room, balcony overlooking mountains with spectacular view. Excellent bed and bathroom, quiet, spotless, excellent breakfast. Everything from the welcome drinks, to help with Wifi, high attention to detail and service. A little expensive but would definitely stay again.

Review 14:It didn't bother me. I thought it was charming. But to breath that alpine air I left my windows open through the night and the church bells went off throughout the night. But to wake up to the view lying in your bed looking out the window was amazing. I suggest at least a second story room for this reason!

Review 15:Everything!

Review 16:I promised myself in Vienna that I was finished staying in large design hotels and decided to put that to the test. So glad I did. Hotel Maximilian is perfect. Location is great for skiing, either in Oberammergau or in Garmisch. The facilities were cozy, intimate, well-designed with a sauna and steam room on the bottom floor. Restaurant and lounge were well-stocked and the char was delicious.

Review 17:Restaurant stops serving at 9.30pm, but I feel this might be a local thing rather than anything to do with the hotel.

Review 18:We stayed in Hotel Maximilian for 6 nights and had a wonderful, relaxing holiday. We were two families with teenagers and had an excellent time. The rooms are very comfortable, spacious and well designed. One of our rooms was 303, the large suite at the top, and we loved the balcony with views of the snowy mountains and the best view of New Year's Eve fireworks. This suite was a delight, with separate sitting area, plenty of wardrobe space, super comfortable bed and bed linens, two large flat screen tvs and luxurious spacious bathroom, an absolute treat! The breakfast is very good, especially the cappuccinos and the cooked egg and sausage choices. The local breads and pastries are great. The food for lunch and dinner is definitely the best in the town and we enjoyed eating here. We were in easy walking distance of everything in charming Oberammergau. Martin at the front desk was warm, welcoming and super helpful, with perfect english and a big smile he is an asset to this hotel! We are talking about returning in the summer to try the downhill toboggan roller coaster thing and enjoy the mountains in sunshine. Great trip.

Review 19:No complaints. Everything was taken care of very well.

Review 20:Attentive, considerate staff. Outstanding service. Very good restaurant and excellent waiter. All perfectly accommodating. Comfortable bed and warm room in the big snow fall and freezing weather.

Review 21:In addition to the comfortable room we enjoyed dining in the restaurant. The breakfasts were superb with an amazing selection and we also found the dinners to be excellent.

Review 22:We couldn't get the AC to work in one of our rooms. The other room was fine

Review 23:The Hotel Maximillian was lovely. Most 'upscale' hotel we stayed in during our 10 days in the German and Austrian Alps. Had a wonderful meal in the hotel restaurant.

Review 24:At over £300 per night, you expect everything to be just about perfect. There was no WiFi in our room during our stay (staff pretended to be perplexed, but it was pretty clear to us that there had never been a signal). Also, the restaurant staff in the evening were a bit rude (although the breakfast crew were lovely, so perhaps we just caught them on a bad night)

Review 25:We had a lovely large room with stunning view and balcony. The breakfasts were very nice and featured fresh local produce.

Review 26:-No room WiFi -No fitness area

Review 42:Bed was very hard and uncomfortable and no internet access

Review 43:Really nice property in a good location with a good restaurant

Review 44:Beds are rather low, it is not easy getting up especially when older.

Review 45:quietness, location, Spa and quality of Hotel

Review 46:Some new personnel were not very personable.

Review 47:Food is excellent

Review 48:No wi-fi. Only LAN line available.

Review 52:Wonderful and very helpful staff. Beautiful location in the middle of Oberammergau. Excellent rooms, which are both clean and cozy. The best choice for hotels in the region!

Review 53:We loved our stay here. The staff were wonderful. They were always willing to give suggestions that were most helpful. The food and the beer were outstanding

Review 54:The radio playing in the restaurant. Although the waiter agreed it was not supposed to be on, it remained on during dinner. his was distracting and did not at all fit the rest of the setting. No wireless in the rooms, only in the lobby.

Review 55:The hotel is a jewel in Oberammergau and offers all creature comforts. It is tastefully decorated and the rooms are spacious, each with a balcony. The restaurant has excellent food, the breakfast leaves no wishes open. The staff is helpful, friendly and responsive.

Review 56:Internet plug didn't work at the desk in the room, but did work elsewhere.

Review 57:Food, flexibility with opening hours of the spa facilities, friendliness of the staff.

Review 58:The massage could be better.

Review 59:Excellent hotel with amazing restaurant. Big rooms and I think wonderfulin spring (we were in january and its also beautiful) the best hotel allaround this region.

Review 60:Breakfast was disappointing - scrambled eggs that were actually just a broken up omelette. Poor television for international visitors - only non-German language stations were news stations. Most quality hotels would have satellite TV or at least in-house movies. Brochure in room said that there was a DVD player but this wasn't the case. Very modern bathroom but unfortunately the shower leaked. Room was too warm at night and temperature couldn't be adjusted.

Review 61:Room was large and comfortable with a large balcony where we could sit and enjoy the views. Restaurant served good quality meals from the local region. Free WiFi with excellent connection in rooms.

Review 62:It was a bit warm when we were there, and there was no AC in our rooms.

Review 63:My brother and I stayed here on a recent trip to Germany/Austria. This was the last hotel we booked, and probably the nicest one we stayed in on our entire trip. It was five stars all the way. Our rooms were absolutely beautiful -- very modern in decor, but highly functional and luxurious at the same time. The beds were super comfortable, and we had oversized sleeping rooms and bathrooms. We also thoroughly enjoyed the hotel's restaurant and lounge area.

Review 64:I like it all Spicily the friendly staff

Review 71:The sauna relax longe chairs not so comfortable.

Review 72:Wonderful Hotel. Great location.

Review 73:the cost

Review 74:Our only dislike would be the lighting. Card in door to turn on and off lights.
