Reviews for Höhengasthaus Kolmenhof

Review 1:The hotel itself is beautiful, inside and out. The room was large and clean, perfect for my big family. And every meal eaten in their restaurant was delicious. It is very remote and a little challenging to get to, but once you're there, very worth the trip.

Review 2:The location was incredible, close to beautiful walking trails but also just a short drive from Triberg and other area sights. The staff was very accommodating; when there was a problem with our reservation, they immediately found another solution to accommodate us. There is a great play room which the kids really enjoyed, and also some play equipment outside.

Review 3:Great location in pure Schwartzwald nature and with the real source of the Danube right in the backyard. Many easy walks right from the hotel (free map in the brochure) - try Günterfelsen at 30 minutes (max) or Brendturm (view tower) at 60 minutes on foot from the hotel.

Review 4:Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous! Fantastic food, beautiful location, lovely staff. We stayed in one of the new family rooms - it is huge, really comfortable, quiet, great views, super clean. Loved this place

Review 5:Flies, flies and more flies from the farm opposite made eating inside or out a misery. The children's tv didn't work and neither did wifi the night we stayed so facilities were not as expected. Drilling and heavy banging started at 0800 under our room. It is a guesthouse and not a hotel however we felt this was unacceptable at that hour.

Review 6:Beautiful location and really comfy beds and well equipped bathroom.

Review 7:I loved the interior decoration of the room. So many lovely, small details made the place feel like being at someone's home. Lovely location, hidden away in the forest region with no noise or traffic.

Review 8:They offers anything you may need for kids. From games, books and bath items in the family room, to a general kids play-room next to the restaurant. We had some chats with the owners who were super nice and welcoming. We were there during Easter (owner organized candy search for kids and gave each basket full of goodies) and during our stay already reserved a room for the summer.

Review 9:# Leaving

Review 10:# Location....Off the main drag so only holiday makers in cars / hikers versus tourist buses. # Two separate rooms in family room...not massive but ample space for the kids to have as their own...bunk beds are a winner with our boys. # Staff were excellent...friendly and welcoming from arrival to departure...owner made point of coming to speak with us a dinner and showed genuine interest in our experiences. # Great walking / running tracks up into the forest...the setting sun through the trees was a real treat. # Strong WiFi connection throughout. # The family dog sitting on the roof basking in the morning sun outside the window was especially entertaining. # Food was excellent at both dinner and breakfast along with great service. # Lounge and Children's playroom allowed time for everyone to relax a it. # Highly recommended!

Review 11:The internet was slow, but that was as advertized and as expectedconsidering the remote location. The location was totally worth the slowconnection.

Review 12:The staff was amazing and the location was just as great. The gasthausis in a beautiful area of the black forest with hiking trails, farms andanimals. The staff is super friendly and the restaurant is open all day. There is also a play room which for kids that is full of toys and gamesthat will keep the young ones entertained when it is too late to playoutside. We have traveled extensively in Europe and this is one of ourtop five places to stay. The location is remote enough that I fell thatyou will need a car.

Review 13:The location was perfect, in the country and away from city life. The staff was incredibly helpful as well. We loved the dinner here, but be aware the stop serving food at 7:30pm. The food was fantastic though and prices were very reasonable. Breakfast was good, though no hot breakfast was available. The room was comfortable, though a little more "old-style" than we would have liked. Wifi connection was decent. Parking was easy.

Review 14:WiFi did not or hardly worked. Maybe that contributed to the fact we became very relaxed.

Review 37:The staff was very friendly and wonderfully helpful when answering our questions about the local area. We traveled with our small dog during this trip and they were very accommodating; our room even had a small private balcony, which allowed our dog to lounge outside. Highly recommend Hohengasthaus Kolmenhof to anyone traveling through the Black Forest. You're away from the hustle and bustle of the busy villages but still close enough to enjoy all they have to offer. If you're looking for a peaceful atmosphere surrounded by the beautiful trees of the Black Forest, then this is the place for you.

A good choice of dishes on the menu in the evening. The entire establishment was kept really clean. A wonderful location for relaxing and also for touring the BlackForest region.

Review 45:none.

Review 46:The Staff was extremely nice and helpful. The food was amazing! we changed places almost every night during our trip in the black forest and this was no doubt the best one. The food, the staff, the rooms, the atmosphere - great place to stay and enjoy - and we've got it on a rainy day! seemed like it had a lot more to offer outside - for kids and adults.

Review 47:A true bed & breakfast guest house in the authentic German tradition. Friendly staff is most accommodating and the food is superb. A terrific Black Forest retreat.

Review 52:Kolmenhof is a lovely facility run by a very nice couple. The setting isbeautiful and we really enjoyed being out in the country. The familyroom was spacious by European standards, nicely appointed and withthoughtful touches; baby shampoo and tubby toys in the bath, children's books in the room, a playroom downstairs, fanciful woodenplaythings in the yard. My husband and I found chocolates on our pillowsand the kids had packets of gummi bears. We only stayed one night as wewere touring with friends, but I would definitely go back when we havemore time to enjoy the surroundings.

Review 53:The staff is really friendly and nice! They gave us a map and some advices where we can go We took a breakfast, for 10€ it's really good, so many types of cheese, tea, coffee, musli, eggs, ham, honey, jam, bread and cakes Then we came back for lunch after our walking the lunch was also nice, trout in wine and soup were really delicious and not expensive
