Don Paco

Don Paco descritpion
This beautiful hotel is set in a restored convent dating form the 17th century, just off Sablón beach in the pretty resort of Llanes.
The Don Paco lies next to the historic quarter walls and seafront promenade of Llanes, in the Asturias region of Green Spain. The baroque style of the carefully preserved hotel building contrasts with the modern facilities it offers. These include a restaurant set in the impressive chapel, which still retains its original stonework and high, arched ceiling. There is also a comfortable lounge with authentic fireplace – ideal for relaxing with friends or family.
Those looking to take advantage of the region’s pleasant climate will enjoy use of the terrace or reduced rates at a local golf course.

Reviews for Don Paco
Review 1:We were staying in a loft room in the hotel. Very stuffy, as the air con had been turned off and the management at the hotel were not prepared to turn it on again for "environmental reasons" and because the season was coming to an end. A temperature in the room of 72.5 degrees F. was considered perfectly acceptable. The trouble was that one had to have the windows open but in doing so one couldn't then pull down the blinds. As a result, one heard all the sounds outside. It was very noisy due to the antics of drivers who'd been involved in a local car rally earlier that day but who'd then taken to driving at speed round the town into the evening. We were assured by hotel staff that the driving up and down the roads outside would cease at 9 pm but in the end this went on until 11 pm. Further noise - music, singing, firecrackers going off, ghetto blasters and general merriment emanated from the town until 4 am. Little sleep to speak of so we had no option but to cut short our stay and forfeit payment for second night. We obviously don't blame the hotel staff for an exceedingly noisy evening - this was something beyond their control - but I think we might have had a better experience if we could have kept the windows closed and thus a cooler temperature in the room. It was inevitable that a loft room was going to be warmer than most (it was much cooler on the lower floors) - temperatures had been in the mid-70s that day - making the use of air conditioning almost essential. The room itself was rather dingy, not helped by a sloping ceiling in the middle of the room. The beds were uncomfortable and the room poorly lit. The hotel management seemed surprised that we wanted to curtail our stay prematurely in spite of our complaints and exhorted us to stay the second night. Not a ghost of a chance!
Review 2:I can't really think of anything particularly positive as we left the hotel prematurely.
Review 3:It would improve if there were more double beds instead of two beds room.
Review 4:The restaurant was amazing, with a wonderful breakfast. The room was big and clean.
Review 5:the aircon didnt work properlyand wouldnt adjust below 23. Luckily it wasnt very hotbut would be uncomfortable in the summer in the loft bedrooms.
Review 6:low rise , friendly hotel, excellent breakfast
Review 7:Our room was overlooking the park and was quite dark during the day, but I guess it's okay when you don't spend your day inside!
Review 8:The location, the free parking nearby, very friendly staff, new modern bathroom, spacious room and large beds.
Review 9:We stayed five nights. First night on ground floor. Room bit gloomy. Moved up a floor next day and very fine with mountain views
Review 10:Really great staff. Also food and location
Review 11:We live bed everything about the hotel, dinner (included in the price) was a little disappointing but our waiter was most anxious to know why, so it could be improved. Breakfast was superb!
Review 12:Above all the helpfulness of all the staff
Review 13:A lovely hotel in a central location. You can have dinner and breakfast in a previous chapel, a beautiful room, or on the outside terrace, nicely decorated with flowers.
Review 14:Nothing much - a little street noise sometimes.
Review 15:Attractive and historic building in a good location within easy walk of shops restaurants and harbour. The staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable.
Review 16:WiFi did not work at all.

Review 21:The hotel has an excellent location, is housed in a wonderful, historic building and has a great atmosphere. The restaurant is well worth eating in and we got the finest meals of our holiday in Spain. Staff in the hotel restaurant were friendly and explained everything. Lovely breakfast with one of the best Spanish omelettes that I have tasted.
Review 22:The hotel was very convenient for shopping, restaurants, and the beaches. The room was large and the bathroom and shower were excellent.free carparking was very nearby
Review 23:The beds were very hard and the room cold, though in the height of summer heat this could have been a boon.
Review 24:Most aspects of our stay were very positive, Location, food staff were all very good indeed,
Review 25:Just the usual selfish early leavers.Perhaps a note on the inside of the door to remind them that there are other guests.Bit of carpet would also help to stop the noise from people wheeling suitcases across tiles at six in the morning!!
Review 26:Lovely old converted convent
Review 27:All good
Review 28:This is a great place to stay. Large modern rooms with great shower. Hotel has fascinating history with amazing dining room and bar. Very clean. Al the staff were very friendly and extremely helpfully. Hope to be back.
Review 29:No bad experience.
Review 30:The hotel is conveniently located to the centre of the town. The staff were extremely pleasant and helpful to us during our stay. Food was great. The rooms were spotless and tended to every day. Despite all the above the room rate was very competitive. Unbelievably so. I will be recommending this hotel to my friends.
Review 31:Friendly staff gave me a warm welcome and were happy to let me store my bike safely inside the hotel. The hotel has a great front terrace too - ideal for enjoying a beer or tapas in the sunshine.
Review 32:I've been on a walking vacation for the past 7 weeks and have stayed in 50 hotels, hostal & pensiones. Don Paco excelled at everything. The staff really takes pride in their product.
Review 33:The staff were just fabulous!! As soon as we arrived, one staff promptly met us at our car and directed us to the lobby and helped with the luggage. They always went out of their way to be helpful and were very friendly. We ate at the restaurant and the waiter was very friendly and engaging. The food was excellent. The breakfast was reasonably priced and had good selection. The hotel is very close to the old town and walking distance to the spectacular cliff-top walk, the Paseo de San Pedro. The restored old convent building is well preserved.
Review 34:We spent one night in this hotel and it was very enjoyable. In the small city of Llanes there aren't many poor locations, but it was an easy walk for everything for sure. The staff was helpful and the rooms were spacious and clean. We didn't spend much time there but there were some really attractive dining and relaxing areas in the hotel. We found that we wanted to spend most of our time enjoying the beautiful city, and Don Paco gave us the perfect place to do this from.
Review 35:The hotel has an ecclesiastical past and has also been a college - the restaurant is the former chapel. But the rooms are extremely comfortable and, for the price, luxurious; location is great - on the edge of Llanes town centre and only three minutes' walk from the train station; staff genuinely friendly. Am planning to return for longer.
Review 36:Well located hotel near centre of town and also close to the beach/sea. Good facilities and very helpful staff. We were doing the Camino Norte and it is on the route! Surprisingly excellent value! Strongly recommend this hotel.
Review 37:We enjoyed very much the accommodation while in Don Paco, the service was outstanding, the restaurant's fabada is delicious and all the hotel is very pretty. We even got help into a particular research we were doing in the area and we are very grateful.
Review 38:The food was good quality and reasonably priced, the drinks were very reasonable and the service was excellent. The rooms were spotless as was the rest of the hotel. The hotel was in an excellent location and included free private parking.
Review 39:The bedroom was a little dated and dark and the mattress was hard and beginning to sag. There was only one (sausage roll) pillow.
Review 40:The staff were friendly and efficient Llanes is a lovely small town with lots of restaurants and bars as well as a lovely cliff-top walk along the ramparts. It is half an hour from the cave paintings of Tito Bustillo at Ribadesella (for which you must book in advance) all connected to Bilbao and Santander by motorway. The bathrooms are modern and the shower good. Wifi was good in the bedroom and was free.
Review 41:This hotel is in the centre of Llanes, an easy walk from the shops, bars, port and beaches. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and there is a nice terrace where you can sit. The room was spotless and spacious, and it had a very nice refitted shower room with quality fittings.
Review 42:Air con wasn't working and it was a bit warm in our room.
Review 43:We were on the top floor and our bathroom had a cool vaulted window. Great property, English speaking staff, close to town, unique building.
Review 44:Only the mattress, it was to hard!
Review 45:The location, the look of my room was top class, very clean, was looked after very well, food was great, night staff was fantastic, very helpful & welcoming. I really enjoyed my stay.
Review 46:Friendly, professional staff. Free parking at sister hotel just down the road. Renovated well, excellent shower etc. and very comfortable, whilst retaining character of old building. Can't comment on food as did not eat at the hotel.
Review 47:The room air conditioning was poor which meant we had to have a window open and then it was noisy (the locals do need seem to sleep with bin collections in the mid of the night).
Review 48:Cuisine was brilliant with local dishes. Friendly helpful staff. The hotel was clean throughout.
Review 49:Our room was adjacent to the street which was often noisy throughout the night with people passing by.
Review 50:It is an old hotel with lots of character and is central to the beach and town . It has a lovely outside terrace where guests can eat and have a drink. Staff were helpful. The room was always very clean and immaculately presented.
Review 51:The head of reception (a middle age woman, short hair and glasses) gave me no information whatsoever and, in general, was quite harsh.
Review 52:The building - it is a historical one, close to the centre.
Review 53:We had requested a double bed the hotel was full so we had a ground floor twin room for our first night - we didn't like the room or the bed configuration. We moved to the first floor for our second night with a double bed and it was a much more pleasant room. We didn't eat in the restaurant beautiful as it was €26 for the menu - most restaurants in Llanes were between €10 and €15! Sadly the restaurant was underused! Breakfast was €9.50 - we had breakfast for €3.80!!

Review 112:Beautiful historic building with large clean room and bathroom. Very good buffe breakfast in the nice dining room in the converted former chapel. Great value for money!
Review 113:We were walking and we arrived dripping wet in the rain. They did not express any concern as we stood in the doorway getting out of our wet weather gear and welcomed us warmly. They merely efficiently dried the floor behind us. The hotel was lovely, the food great and the father and son who ran the place were charming and informative. It is an excellent location from which to explore LLanes and suurounds.
