Reviews for Hotel zum Löwen
Review 1:Parking indicated to be available on site. This is misleading. There is public parking "nearby" but you have to feed the meter during business hours (Mon-Sat). Alternatively, I believe you could park in one of the municipal garages at a daily rate.
Review 2:Excellent location in the heart of the historic town centre. Room was nice - recently renovated with modern facilities but retaining the ambiance of the ancient building (exposed beams, etc). Staff were friendly, helpful and welcoming. The food at the restaurant is very good, if slightly dear.
Review 3:Great location for walking around the town. No elevator, rooms up one floor. Exotic Green room with tub by bed. Cannot get out on that side of the bed. Fun to sit in tub, and good shower. Cannot sit up in bed because no wall behind pillows and large painting behind part of it. Nice big bed, must have been a king size. Wifi signal weak, wouldn't work on cell phone until I stepped outside the door. But then it worked. Parking very inconvenient- go pay every 2 hours to park on street nearby beginning at 8am or walk several blocks and take your chances on the street there. Only furniture is bed, TV, chaise, small straight back chair and desk. No coffee maker. Opened windows for cool air, but street noise and lights right outside were a bit distracting. There was not noise all night. One shutter missing, which would have helped. The woman in charge was busy, but nice and helpful. A short stay was enough. Breakfast was 7.5 Euros each, and was very good- cold sliced meats, cheeses, hard boiled egg, rolls, jam, coffee.
Review 4:I liked it but not for everyone, shower and toilet were all open in the room. Kind of sexy ( red room) however if you are timid using the toilet with an audience you wouldn't like it. All the rooms are a bit different so you might want to ask which room you will occupy before committing.
Review 5:Location was great, right in the marketplatz. Strong wifi, comfortable bed, nice pillows. Staff was very friendly and nice and spoke English. Gasthaus on site however we didn't eat there so I can't comment on the food.
Review 6:Not a terrible place but 2 single beds pushed together to make a double. No doors within the room - so you walk into to see the toilet, step over your glass shower, and go to your bed. Fine if you are travelling by yourself, but not advisable if you aren't and prefer to have a few things private. Okay location but a little difficult to find.
Review 7:It was all perfect for our situation and i would definitely return.
Review 8:The little village had wonderful pastry and meat shops. Thwre was a nice bar and restaurant inside the small hotel too. Staff was wonderful.
Review 9:Reed room is too modern with open toilet and no privacy. We are a young couple, and I dont like the place that I cannot use toilet without my partner hearing everything. Room is basically like a very nice brothel. If I stayed alone, I would loved it tho.
Review 10:Location and cleanliness was imaculate. Room was big.
Review 11:Hotel has no parking facilities of its own, it depends on public parking which in our experience was fully occupied after 17.00 when it became free of charge. Unhelpful welcome from the male host which consisted mainly of shrugs and suggestion to park in a nearby side street where local children were playing with a football. The bathroom and toilet facilities are integrated within the bedroom offering no privacy. Bedroom furnishing was sparse and of poor quality. Overpriced for what was provided.
Review 12:Breakfast was plentiful and of good quality, the lady serving breakfast was very polite and friendly.
Review 13:Parking is not free during the day
Review 14:Centrally located in the cute town of Lahr. The staff was friendly, the breakfast very tasty and the room comfortable and very nicely decorated. Definitely recommended for young couples!
Review 15:Dinner was somewhat on the greasy side
Review 16:Well done and tasteful conversion of an old hotel into something special. Very nice rooms with all the comfort you could ask for.
Review 17:They didn't have our reservation from Booking.com. But fortunately, they had some free rooms.
Review 18:It's a really great hotel with German atmosphere in a ancient modernized house. Everything was perfect!
Review 19:Extremly helpful and friendly staff. The hotel resturant and breakfast was fantastic. This is the only place I would stay in Lahr. Very centrally located.
Review 20:Toilette, bathroom and sleeping - all really in one room. Maybe good for couple during honeymoon. You have to pay parking on the street.
Review 21:Interesting, clean, directly in the centre of the town
Review 22:Very friendly staff, extremely welcoming. The included breakfast one of the best I have had. The hotel restaurant is excellent. Made to feel at home.
Review 23:Parking is a little bit of an issue - but that's the towns fault not the hotel. If you are lucky you can grab one of the spaces just up the road which is free overnight.
Review 24:The welcome on my arrival and at breakfast the following morning. The room (green room) had been decorated with style and imagination. The room was huge and beautiful. I had an evening meal and breakfast and both meals were excellent.
Review 25:Needs better lighting in bathroom and needs a mirror for getting ready.

Review 37:Remarkable design rooms! Helpful and friendly staff Excellent breakfast In the City Centre
Review 38:There is a small public car park just over the road but could fill quickly. The rooms are ultra modern and not in keeping with the exterior of the hotel, they are mininimalist in the extreme. Our room and the one next to us both had bathrooms with no doors and next doors seemed to be in the middle of the room, the style will not be to most peoples taste. However the room was comfortable and value for money.
Review 39:Location is first class and the resturant is very very good indeed with good food reasonably priced. You must book as it is very busy.
Review 40:The owners were so nice and helpful at all times. My room was uniquely styled and I loved the location. One night the heat didn't work, but they brought up a portable heater and the room heated up nicely. I would definitely stay there again. They also have the best schnitzel in town!!!
Review 41:none.
Review 42:The chief of the hotel was so nice to pick me up at the train station as there's no taxis outside when I arrived at Lahr. The design of the hotel room is really fantastic!
