Reviews for Hotel Alte Münze

Review 1:Standard room a bit small but with love to detail.

Review 2:Very nice breakfast with regional products, gluten free bread was provided. Staff was very helpful and nice.

Review 3:Only issue ( although my beau slept through it!) was a local church that insisted on chiming every 15 minutes through the night-times. Even with ear-plugs it did wake me up at times which was a shame as everything the hotel supplied was perfect!

Review 4:The suite was fabulous. It was massive ( I have never stayed in a suite this big before) and the furnishings were very tasteful. Hugh bathroom with the most wonderful freestanding bathtub and large comfortable 4 poster bed. Beautiful. Wished we had booked more days!

Review 5:The clock of the church which bounce every 15 minutes during the night

Review 6:Very friendly personal. Location is excellent in the old city center. Features of the antique suite is great. (See picture)

Review 7:We liked...The comfortable bed, the linen, the lovely curtains, the breakfast served in part by a delightful young man and his Mum, well all in all, a delightful stay.:))

Review 8:Perfect location. Can walk the centre of the city easily.friendly staff.had asked for double bed because our baby sleeps with us. It was 2 beds united but in 3 minutes 3 very sweet ladies put an extra top mattress and it became a comfortable double bed!! The room very clean.comfortable bed . not very good pillows.very big bathroom. Perfect breakfast in a sweet room!!free parking and wifi.it has a backyard with tables for a drink or lanch maybe.in summer must be great! !

Review 9:need to carry your laguage by hand to the second floor.. travel light.

Review 10:rooms are big ans spacious. modern renovation. the beds are very comfortable. shower is great. it was spotless clean and alot of pampering accesories. free wifi with good connection. breakfast was rich, fresh and great

Review 11:It would be a benefit if there was a lift as it is a climb to the upper floors and no luggare porterage assistance was offered. This could be difficult for older patrons

Review 12:Situated in the old part of the town of Goslar the hotel oozes rustic and ancient atmosphere. All the staff were very pleasant and the rooms are as described. Plenty of parking outside the hotel

Review 13:Hard to get to with a car.

Review 14:Well Renovated, clean room with excellent bathroom and shower. Close to market and points of interest. Handy to the train station by foot.

Review 15:Charming hotel in a stunning German town. whilst this is a very old hotel the rooms are very modern and extremely comfortable. The bar and courtyard were very inviting especially on one of the hottest days of the year.

Review 16:Pillows on bed were too soft. No other complaint

Review 17:Friendly Staff quaint setting great two night stay. Had a fantastic time and would definitely recommend it

Review 18:Difficult to find even using a satnav.

Review 19:Located in the old town a short walk from restaurants. A large comfortable bedroom and bathroom. Excellent breakfast.

Review 20:We couldn't find our way to the hotel by car. When we stopped and asked someone how to get there, they recommended parking in the street and walking, which is what we did.

Review 21:The hotel is very close to the main square and is in a gorgeous old building. The room was large with an amazing bathroom. Breakfast was excellent - a huge choice.

Review 22:It would be very good if the church bell would shut up shop at night.

Review 23:Convenient to Marketplatz, restaurants and shopping. Private parking just outside the hotel. Although this is a very historic building, the interior was immaculately presented. The staff were very helpful and professional.

Review 24:Very welcoming hotel with good parking facilities, great wifi, well appointed bedroom/bathroom, delightful breakfast room. Excellent walking proximity to Central Goslar.

Review 25:felt the room was too small and found the pillows to soft. No drink facilities available in room

Review 26:Good for center location to all amenities And Good breakfast, wifi available in the room although sometimes slow

Review 27:Nothing bad to say at all !!

Review 28:The location was great, a quiet spot tucked away but just through an alley straight into the centre of Goslar ! Free parking !! The friendly staff and cleanliness

Review 29:Excellent hotel car park can be hard to find - probably best not to rely on your sat nav!!

Review 30:The hotel buildings, the breakfast and being seconds on foot from the centre of Goslar

Review 31:Friendly welcome and greeting from staff on arrival, which continued throughout our stay. Fabulous room, fabulous old hotel which has been perfectly maintained mixing new and old with style. Very good breakfast and good bar. Perfect location in the heart of Goslar as a base for exploring the Harz Mountains.

Review 32:The location in the heart of the historic center couldn't have been better. All staff were extremely helpfull and friendly and the breakfast choice was excellent.

Review 33:Our only complaint was that the bathroom towels were small & threadbare!

Review 34:We stayed in one of the suites which was really spacious, comfortable and tastefully furnished.

Review 35:stay too short

Review 36:The huge 40 square meter room, totally quiet and isolated but very close to the main center, modern and aestetically designed facilities, double sinks in room, very fast and stable Wi-Fi, several easily accessible power outlets in room , throughout the hotel a sense of history and regal ancient, original pictures on walls, chandelier in breakfast room, most welcoming and friendly staff, free parking in this very dense medieval town, fresh warm buns in breakfast, selection of fresh vegetables, healthy foods availability while minimizing packaged food, excelent coffe machine and tasty coffe grinded in real time, handmade orange juice, exquisite furniture of over 500 years old elegantly scattered in the hotel area…. …And you are encouraged to find out the remaining hidden pleasures of this charming hotel yourself :)

Review 37:Everything at this hotel was terrific! The location was great, parking was easy, the food was wonderful, the staff and room were lovely. It is close to the town, which is also very beautiful.

Review 38:The car park can be a little difficult to find but infact is just across from the hotel but with the typical small narrow streets of Goslar maybe challenging to the novice driver or those with larger vehicles so view a good map of goslar before setting off

Review 39:We had the pleasure of staying one night in Goslar at the Hotel Alte Münze and was greeted by Rosemarie, on booking we were recommended to stay in a superior room as we were traveling with our dog who was made most welcome. The room was tastefully decorated with both a mixture of antiques and new modern items which worked very well, the house also has many lovely area’s associated with an old building so if you are looking for a modern building with straight walls doors and floors almost corporate you will not see these at the Alte Münze. We spent the evening exploring the old town of Goslar which was getting dressed for its annual christmas market and the Alte Münze in is the perfect location to explore the town. Before returning to the Alte Münze for a drink in their small guest bar which is a great space for a night cap before enjoying a good nights sleep.

Review 40:Nothing particularly.

Review 41:Very friendly and proactive management. We had a wonderful time. The facilities were excellent, and the hotel is situated in the middle of Goslar. Good parking options without charge. Our dog was welcomed.

Review 42:Closing down reception at 8pm is probably a little early for some.

Review 43:A quiet, traditional and very well positioned hotel. The staff were very friendly. The atmosphere was informal and relaxed. The rooms were well equipped and the beds were very comfortable. An excellent and varied breakfast buffet was served. Highly recommended.

Review 44:Having to leave to get my train home!

Review 45:Lovely historic hotel that has lovingly been made into a really comfortable hotel in the heart of the beautiful half timbered town of Goslar. Lovely breakfasts and very helpful staff.

Review 46:The bathroom is a little bit smelly.

Review 47:The reception is superb, she gave me a hotel tour to the room and parking place. The location is good very close to the church. Walk to the market.Wireless LAN is good.

Review 48:This is a lovely old timbered building that has been renovated and restored, but still retains much original character. Old cobbled courtyard is a pretty sanctuary for reading, writing and taking tea. Staff kind and helpful, great location, good buffet breakfast.

Review 49:The hotel itself is very special with its leaning walls. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The car park is free and close to the hotel. The location is excellent for seeing Goslar. The WiFi worked well, and we had a lovely breakfast. This was our second visit to Goslar. and if we come back, we will definitely stay at Hotel Alte Münze again.

Review 50:nothing the hotel can do about noisy neighbors banging on doors thought the night !!!! Didn't try the bar or evening food but all looked good

Review 51:This is a great find relaxing stop over whilst traveling south fantastic room pleasant staff and the right money

Review 52:Located near the old centre of Goslar but located in a quiet street, the hotel occupies in a beautiful old building. With excellent breakfasts, comfortable rooms and extremely helpful staff, it was one of the most pleasant hotels we have stayed in for a long time

Review 53:Very nice atmosphere in a very old hotel that has been carefully brought up to date. We stayed in a family suite and were blown away by this charming room with a very nice bathroom immediately taken into use by our girls. Breakfast is a party: plenty and delicious! The ding room is so nice and charming. Staff very helpful. We would like to stay there over and over again.

Review 54:The fact that most rooms look out onto the courtyard and it can get quite noisy out there at night with people drinking and smoking. Cigarette smoke was noticeable so if you aren't a party person ask for a room that looks elsewhere.

Review 55:The location is excellent. We parked the car in the hotel parking and walked everywhere we needed to go.

Review 56:The nearby church clock! Lovely during the day but intrusive at night.

Review 57:A warm welcome, helpful staff and exquisite surroundings. We intend to visit again soon.

Review 58:The only thing I would change is when you get by car, there is not much space for unloading the car. A sign saying where the car park is would be welcome. The parking place is only a few meters away but the sign does not say it belongs to the hotel.

Review 59:Absolutely everything; reception, staff, service, one of the best and most pleasant experiences I've ever had in a hotel. Rooms are great and common areas are decorated in a beautiful way. Really great experience.

Review 60:Great breakfast buffet, quirky room with modern fittings, staff extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. Location was right in the altstadt so easy to walk to the prettiest parts of Goslar

Review 61:The glass doors to both shower and toilet. Also the fact that there was nowhere to hang a towel in shower room.

Review 62:The location and the courtyard where one could relax with a drink.

Review 63:- comfortable and clean room and bathroom - lovely mix of antique and modern furniture - super friendly staff - wonderful breakfast - excellent location - big plus of having free parking so cloce to the centre

Review 64:The floor in the shower cubicle very easily got extremely slippery (when using shampoo/soap) to the point where you had to hold on not to fall.

Review 65:Lovely old hotel in the middle of Goslar, but with modern rooms. Great breakfast in nice breakfast room. Free parking just by the hotel.

Review 66:Hotel newly renovated with excellent bathrooms. Very old building (16th century) but not moist or damp. Only a 100 yrds from the centre square. Staff and owners very friendly and helpful. Breakfast included and is very good eg. fresh fruits. Free private parking.

Review 67:The room was not bad for the price, but rather small. If you are out most of the day like we were, it is perfectly adequate for a stay of several days. If you plan a longer stay, or have to spend more time in the hotel, you might consider a slightly more expensive room with a bit more space and comfort.

Review 68:The hotel was perfectly located. The standard double room is comfortable, but rather small although the bed was quite comfortable. The bathroom was new, but had some minor flaws like a leaky shower stall. The breakfast was excellent and the personnel were very friendly and helpful. Overall a nice place to stay.

Review 69:The location is in the middle of everything but with the private car park you do not have to worry about finding somewhere for the car (book in advance). The hotell is in a beautiful old building but the interior is fashionable modern with a sleek and elegant desgin. Very scandinavian - which made us feel at home :) The room was large and situated towards the back which made for a quite sleep. The breakfast was outstanding - best ever! Top of the list - fresh and plenty of things to choose from. It's easy to walk to all the beautiful sights from the hotell and the staff was very helpful with giving advice for restaurants for food and drink. Great hotell in a beautiful town!

Review 70:During our road trip through Germany we stayed at numerous good hotels, but this was by far the best. The staff was very friendly and the hotel exceptional compared to others in the same price range. If you decide to go to Harz or Goslar you should stay at Alte Munze. It is highly recommendable.

Review 97:Short walk to old town centre, beauty to be seen to be believed, town is stunning, secure parking

Review 98:Towels a little worn out

Review 99:Breakfast and located in mittel of the town.

Review 101:nothing

Review 102:breakfast
