Reviews for Villa Iguana

Review 1:The breakfast could be improved and shower gel in the bathroom would be appreciated

Review 2:Very welcoming team. We loved our stay at the Villa Iguan, right in the Bayahibe village and will come back for sure

Review 3:Combat cocks were started crowing every day at 4 am... crazy sound, but you get used in 2-3 days

Review 4:Everything was excellent, just what you need for a sea vacation :) Roof from palm trees and everyday cleaning were awesome!

Review 5:I loved this place! Ale, Stefano and Kirsten who runs this place is always smiling and are just fantastic! The rooms is cleaned every day by the lovely staff. The breakfast with the homemade jam is perfect :)

Review 6:Bayahibe was the worst beach and see I have ever seen, totaly disaster. Rubish and seegrass.

Review 7:Very kind and helpful staff of villa. Very clean. Great trip by catamaran.

Review 8:Only one channel on the tv. Breakfast should be included in the penthouse price. Wifi does not work inside the room.

Review 9:Penthouse view is magnificent. Terrace and pool area are private.

Review 10:At Villa Iguana you will feel like home... Cleanliness is absolutely outstanding, wi-fi works good and people are fantastic! Great price and don't hesitate to take the penthouse - you will not regret!

Review 11:The owner was very king and also his lovely wife. The airlines lost our suitcases so they really help us to talk to them and understand where is our things. Beside, the room was very clean and there is a cleaner every day, the wifi is great as well. Just go there! Its perfect.

Review 12:Avoid breakfast! 5 dollar for nr 1 slice of cheese, 1 (small) of hamand 3 of bread plus 1 egg! What a shame! On booking.com the price was$33, they pretended $39 because of taxes but they "forgot"the receipt! Very Italian, indeed; in fact the new owner is Italian...$10 for breakfast (for two) and a "strange" Exchange...Total 2250 dop, that is $50!!! No air conditioner. They hateDominicans, very racists.

Review 13:Don't miss Mama Rosa, exactly in front of the hotel. The best picapollo in the Caribbean.

Review 14:The owners are very friendly. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary, on that morning they provided us with special table decorations and cake, very simple but very thoughtful touch, much appreciated.

Review 15:Everything was ok

Review 16:Location close to everything, very clean hotel,Mike hotel's manager arranged everything for us.we didn't have to worry about anything!

Review 17:Nothing to say

Review 18:Was a nice simple place to stay if you are expecting someone to greet you with drink of day and handle yours bags and kiss you feet wrong place. the owner greeted us checked us in within five minutes .The room was great ,breakfast was simple but good .They recommended local spots to eat at. MAMA ROSA and Frontoni pizzas we enjoyed most. Mike and his wife were very friendly the family likes them . We will be back

Review 19:The hotel is a quiet and well maintained family business. They are very friendly and accommodating. I will definitely be back the next time I stay in Bayahibe.

Review 20:the roosters from the neighbourhood were very loud, so our sleep was not the best after 3 or 4 am

Review 21:well located, friendly and english speaking staff, great breakfast

Review 22:After booking through booking.com we received an email confirming the reservation and stating breakfast was included. We arrived at the hotel and were informed this had been a mistake--if we wanted breakfast we would have to pay. The manager refused to honor his word as documented in the email, and was quite rude. Roosters near the hotel crow non-stop, though this seems to be an issue in the whole community, not just as this hotel.

Review 23:Comfortable room with a good location. Be sure to try the batidas (smoothies) made by the dona across the street from the hotel.

Review 24:If someone is very sensitive about noise... Maybe better to not take room nr 1 as can hear even steps outside but for me it was ok and didn't bother me.

Review 25:The place is very clean and pretty. Friendly and very helpful owner, excellent localization, good price for quality.

Review 26:Mike was not very friendly with us and photos of rooms which are in booking, com don't supppr the reallity of rooms which are in Vila Iguana hotel, I think, that Mike take these photos from other hotel webside and put in Vila Iguana webside. And if you want to go to Saona island, don't go from Vila Iguana, because it is very expensive, you can find more cheaper near the dock. This hotel is one of the worst hotwl I have ever been

Review 27:Clean room

Review 28:Noise from the bar down the road, take earplugs! The Dominican Republic is not a quite country.

Review 29:The small roof top pool & the outdoor sitting areas were great. Bayahibe is is good location to get a boat to go snorkelling or diving.

Review 30:Rooster next door was noisy, but we got used to it quickly.

Review 31:Great location for exploring Bayahibe area. Room was big, comfortable and spotless. Good breakfest. Good value for money.

Review 32:My husband and I stayed in the penthouse and loved the ambience & space of this top floor room , it was great to have our own private pool . We loved our stay here and Mike and his wife were so friendly and helpful . It was like staying with family .

Review 33:The apartment we stayed in did not have a balcony, which was a shame. It can get pretty loud in town with roosters in the early am, dogs at night and pretty loud music at the nearby bar (24 hours it seemed). You are, however, close to the location action at this location.

Review 34:The hotel was close to the beach and the small supermarket in town. The town is relatively small but close to the beach for boat excursions. Saona Island does not have any snorkeling, you need to book a different trip if you want that experience. If you scuba dive there are many outfitters to choose from. We also went to the caves at the nearby national park. It was impressive but a good hike, and it is a fair distance from the Inn, so you need to get a taxi or local bus.

Review 35:the only thing I didn't like was from about 3am a cock crew,no fault with the hotel, just neighbours, but as we come from the country it didn't really make a difference but anyone not used to it ,it might keep you awake.but don't let that put you off. brill hotel.

Review 36:everything,brill room, lovely comfy bed, lovely breakfast, quiet area, about 5 mins from a beautiful bayahibe beach.the owners were lovely, couldnt do enough for you.english speaking, kept our bags after we checked out as we were not joining our cruise ship until the evening so we could relax and have a lovely day at the beach.they ordered a taxi for us there were there before there due time.they told us we were the first irish people to have stayed with them,we were delighted.so hopefully we wont be the last.if we ever go back to bayahibe we will definially be back there to stay we just loved it ,barney&jackie.rooms at bottom floor has fan only, but 2&3floors have air condition, lovely view from top floor.

Review 37:Mike, the owner is absolutely fantastic and extremely helpful. My mom and I really enjoyed our 2 nights at the hotel and wouldn't hesitate to go back. Excellent location to everything.

Review 38:Only issue are the noisy roosters across the back wall that go day & night. Earplugs don't help! The owner is trying to rectify the situation with the neighbour but I'm betting that will prove futile as it has been months since he started the process.

Review 39:The owners are great, staff lovely & breakfast was substantial. The town is a few minute walk to restaurants & the swimming beach. A few good places to eat, atmosphere fab in town & all bathe hotel.

Review 40:Room we had was small, but clean. However in Dominican Rep. you want to be ouside and not sitting in the room. Sometime noise level outside was high, but it is Caribean...

Review 41:We have spent 4 nights in Villa Iguana. The owner Mike was very attentive. He gave us very good recommendations about diving agency, shopping and various trips. We felt like we were on visit in house of our relatives. We saw real Dominican life. It was not like in guarded beach resort.

Review 42:Only one thing: a cock was crowing early in the mornings.

Review 43:The hotel was very clean and peacefull. Staf was nice and very friendly. The location was near the beach and centre of the village.

Review 44:the room for two was very small and dark..there was bigger rooms,we didnt see the pool which was mentioned in booking site, the good beach was in 4 km away,

Review 45:the village was nice and clean and safety, breakfast was ok and the rooms were clean

Review 46:The moment we walked up the stairs and entered our suite on the rooftop ... the views were amazing! Bayahibes' town and bay is full of life. At no point did we feel un welcomed or out of place .. we well definitely be back.

Review 47:breakfast was basic, sofa chair was damaged in sitting area, shower curtain was irritating, internet was weak and off and on, kitchenette had no space, room could be better designed, could not pay with credit card

Review 48:clean, friendly, great bed, good tv, nice staff and cleaners, everything worked, nice balcony,

Review 49:None. Everything was great.

Review 50:The place is very nice and clean. Great location, in the center of Bayahibe, two streets away from the sea. The owner, Mike and his wife are extremely nice and friendly, very helpful (so was the staff), if I needed some help or advice where to go in the area etc. Wonderful place to stay!

Review 51:breakfast no bar soap in bathroom. small shower-(it should hold two people) the cana roof over bedroom needs to be trimmed -makes negotiating the steps and rooftop areas hard My Dominican girlfriend was offended by the sign in bedroom describing the Dominican republic as a third world, It Is a Developing nation. (I even questioned it as No one refers to the DR as such anymore the sign should be removed

Review 52:the Pool large pergola covered tanning area in Penthouse views of Caribbean Sea

Review 53:The bed was very low to the floor, the breakfast was the same everyday

Review 54:Staff very nice, attentive to needs fixed any problems (1 day internet down) quickly

Review 55:Everything was excellent.

Review 56:The room was amazing, location is just in the center of Bayahibe and beach . The staff and management is really focus on guest and they help us to solve some personal problems with a lot of kindness. Also we booked a excursion to Saona Island that was wonderful. Thank you Claus for this unforgettable stay.

Review 57:A very nice, clean and welcoming budget hotel, close to the beach. Very well up kept with neat and comfortable rooms at a great price. The upstairs ones have AC and a fridge, which I would highly recommend during the hotter time of the year: well worth a few extra bucks. The downstairs room (where we also stayed) was a bit more basic, but also nice and serviceable; the downstairs section is a bit livelier, however, being close to the breakfast area and the street, with a few motorcycles zipping by. The breakfasts are pretty damn filling and well-rounded. The owner and the personnel are very friendly and helpful. Overall, a pleasant, chill and amiable spot. Thank you, Claus! If I’m ever back in Bayahibe, I’ll be sure to book a room. -- Kate S.

Review 58:Villa Iguana is a neat and tastefully decorated hotel with a pleasant atmosphere and great value. We lived in a nice clean room on the 2nd floor, with comfortable beds, modern bathroom, AC, TV set, frig. Being that I sometimes have trouble sleeping, I really appreciated how peaceful and quiet the place was. Friendly service and substantial breakfasts made our stay in Villa Iguana all the more comfortable and convenient. I would definitely recommend this hotel to any independent traveler looking for quality budget accommodations.

Review 59:Not Applicable

Review 60:Excellent apartment for a stay at Bayahibe.Owner and staff work as a friendly team to see to your every need.Could not fault, and would recommend to others visiting Dominican Republic.

Review 61:The Dominican Republic is the country of fruits! I am therefore always frustrated when I receive an industrial juice at breakfast. Please provide some freshly pressed fruit juice or at least a full plate of local fruits, rather than basic salami and cheese... Breakfast could be easily improved ;-)

Review 62:Nice owners and nice employees. The place was clean and safe. The hotel is in the center of the town but the neighborhood is relatively quit. We had a good sleep there. There are small dominican family restaurants around the hotel. They are increadibly nice and serve tasty and cheap food! I really recommand them rather than the expessive restaurants on the sea front (usually owned by foreigners).

Review 63:I have nothing but great things to say about Villa Iguana. The facilities were extremely clean, the staff was outstanding, the service was excellent! Villa iguana felt like a home away from home. I will without a doubt return.

Review 64:Best place to stay in bayahibe

Review 66:Very friendly and helpful staff

Review 67:Owners very friendly and helpful

Review 68:Excellent location, very kind staff

Review 69:There are roosters and chicken next door. So they kept us awake.

Review 70:Staff is wonderful and the place is very clean and well organised.

Review 71:Clean and cozy apartment, nice staff,we can recommend. Thanks!

Review 72:Make sure you have your earplugs before visiting the hotel. No fridge and TV.

Review 73:clean hotel, comfortabl beds, good value for money

Review 74:way to noisy (to many cocks/ roosters which wake you up all the time, no TV, breakfast was everyday exactly the same

Review 75:Clean,nice staff

Review 76:Very good service. We liked it!

Review 77:The owners are very friendly and the hotel has a charming atmosphere.

Review 78:Very prompt responses to all my questions before I got there and great advice for my stay.

Review 79:Friendly stafF, great location. Perfect for 1 or 2 nights.

Review 80:The chicken

Review 81:Convenient & safe

Review 82:Exactly what you need: a comfortable, clean, small room. Perfect crash pad to explore what the area has to offer.

Review 83:Neighbourhood infested with roosters, bring earplugs.

Review 84:Modern, spotless clean hotel run by a friendly couple of local expats.

Review 85:Great location for walking anywhere in Bayahibe, price included very good and substantial breakfast, rooms and hotel very clean

Review 86:clean and cute guesthouse - right into the town - great advices from the owners

Review 87:Guest were allowed to smoke in public areas that was very disturbing. Disrupted my breakfast every morning.

Review 88:Very family friendly hotel. They supported us with a small bed for our 2 years old daughter

Review 89:close to beach and in the center of a great quite small village.

Review 90:It was all good!

Review 91:Very clean, great breakfast and well worth the money to stay in the penthousr

Review 92:Brilliant, highly recommended!

Review 93:Free alarm by one of the cocks who wake the village up

Review 94:Helpfull and lovely staff; great location; nice rooms

Review 95:Amazing value for the money, owners are great, and breakfast was great too

Review 96:Difficult to find space for parking

Review 97:Everything very clean and breadfast very good.

Review 98:Great location , great price , very clean , owner was real helpful

Review 99:The owners were very accommodating with our later than expected check-in and we really enjoyed the complimentary breakfast. We received a hard boiled egg, a few slices of meat and cheese with bread and some fruit. Coffee and tea were also provided. Was a great meal to start our day.

Review 100:Only minor (not a problem at all): WIFI not working always and not in room, breakfast could have a bit more fruit

Review 101:very nice and clean. quality/price very good. German organization :D . Very good position close to supermarket, restaurants, guaguas, motoncocho and beaches

Review 102:There was nothing I didn't like.

Review 103:Everything was as described on both booking.com and www.villaiguana.de. It was nothing fancy, but clean, comfortable, and conveniently near the beach, which was exactly what we wanted. They served a typical German breakfast with fruit, meat, cheese, an egg, bread, juice, and coffee. The owners worked with us with our late (after 23:00) arrival and our need to store our baggage for a late departure on our checkout day.

Review 104:the neighborhood is horrible(loud, noisy) at night dogs are barking the hole night so we couldn't get sleep

Review 105:friendly environment value for money great

Review 106:If you sleep in the economy rooms, remember to bring some earplugs- the roosters and dogs are really noisy in the morning.

Review 107:Villa Iguana is a really good holiday spot to stay, it's situated a couple of minuts from the littel city port, the rooms have a European standard, very clean. Martina - the owner is helpful, and it's possible to buy some.excursions from her.

Review 108:Located in the heart of the village, noise was sometimes an issue. the motorcycles set off the dogs, the dogs set off the children and the roosters were always crowing. the houses are very closely built together so with open windows, you are a part of every sound in the street. At times the noise was maddening and yet it was a charming aspect of Dominican culture.

Review 109:Villa Iguana was very clean and in a perfect location, a slight distance to everything, shops, beach, restaurants. The breakfast was great, substantial and balanced. There's a great breeze in Bayahibe and a balcony was a great way to enjoy that.

Review 110:everything; my partner especially enjoyed the breakfast and the freindliness of the staff. Location is perfect short walk to all the shops and the beach.

Review 111:I wish wi-fi connection was available in the rooms as well...nonetheless, the wi-fi at the reception is just a few steps away.

Review 112:Starting you day with a good breakfast that is served at your table (coffee, orange juice, boiled egg, cheese, cold cuts, jam, fruit, toast and bread) was great. The coffee was very good. The hotel is very clean and cozy. The queen size bed was comfortable. There's a small safe in the room and there's free wi-fi at the reception/dining area which is a bonus. The area is safe. The location is very good with a supermarket around the corner, bank machines, and the restaurants are just a 5 minute walk away. The beach is about a 10 to 15 walk away.

Review 113:Having at least the bedroom air conditioned would help allot. You seethe roosters start crowing at 3 A.M., then the dogs join in and thebabies start to cry. So it's very hard to get a good nights sleep.

Review 114:It has a great location, well run. You could literally eat off thefloor. A great value, within walking distance to the beach, restaurants, and boats to the island. Did I mention it's great size, like aManhattan apt.

Review 115:Another review mentioned the noisy roosters, they are absolutely right. From 4 am until after sunrise roosters in the yards next door and nearbycrow loud. And barking dogs. Why don't the owners just talk to theneighbors or compensate them to have their animals quiet or gone? Theads for this hotel say it is away from the noisy businesses along thewater, which is right, but they have other noises. The noise makes thisplace much less pleasant, even though everything else is good.

Review 116:The part of the hotel where I stayed is fairly new and very clean. Greatoutside terraza.

Review 117:Staff was friendly. Free breakfast was tasty. This town feels extremely safe. We walked around at night the whole week we were there and never felt uncomfortable. The town has enough restaurants and things to do, and you're plenty close to the beach and dive shops to walk to them quickly.

Review 118:Woken up every morning by noise. A good pair of ear plugs help.

Review 119:The place was nice, clean room and bathroom. Breakfast was simple. Wifi in the communal area. The owner and staff are friendly. The town of Bayahibe is quite small, so it would be hard to go wrong with location.
