Reviews for Hotel Zum Lieben Augustin

Review 1:A comfortable if a little dated hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful, the bed was comfortable......all good. Location on the lake means a steep walk up into town, but well worth it! Meersburg is beautiful

Review 2:A bit noisy outside at night and early morning. I really miss a kettle with instant powder or a coffee machine in the European hotels.

Review 3:Very good breakfast.

Review 4:Bathroom facilities. We had to share a bathroom and toilet. For our shower we had to go down a level. We set our alarm so we could be first in the shower each morning.

Review 5:Location was excellent Breakfast was very enjoyable plenty of variety to suit everyone

Review 6:Surly owner/ server. I asked for fresh coffee because the first flask of coffee was lukewarm. He grumbled, returned with the same flask and told me the coffee was not cold! The guests at the next table shook their heads in disbelief. No one is fluent in English except for the young man we met on arrival, but we never saw him again. Pathetic wifi, no matter where in the building I tried. Old house with creaking wooden floors, could hear people walking above us, lights being turned on and off, toilets flushing. Definitely a poor excuse for a hotel!

Review 7:Excellent variety at breakfast. Very close to the Ferry harbour.

Review 8:We were very impressed by the wide choice of breakfast items. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. We particularly enjoyed our meal in the restaurant.

Review 9:No AC, no fans No elevator Parking is a 7-10 min walk, at the common lot Terrible wifi

Review 10:Decent location, parallel to the promenade. Clean rooms Nice breakfast spread; helmed by a friendly gentleman.

Review 11:hot rooms at night with one fan to share between 2 rooms but as we discovered in Germany no aircon or fans in most hotel rooms

Review 12:Location was brilliant, great breakfast

Review 13:No wifi reached the very top where I was, but for the price, who cares. Booking.com messed up and stated that I could add a bed (trundle) in the room, but it was wrong. Not the hotels fault. We basically had to sneak and live like refugees to not be stranded since the room was a single. Booking.com please fix.

Review 14:Perfect, totally affordable, small single room. Complementary breakfast. This little town is amazing, and I think we wasted our time even going over to Konstanz since its just as beautiful right there.

Review 15:It happened that we stayed when it was extremely hot days. Apparently windows facing the street were fixed and we were able just partially to open them. No fans available. So better go when it is cooler. In this case I would be offering cold water every day at least to make the stay happier. No internet connection

Review 16:Location, good breakfast

Review 17:The location of the hotel was perfect as it is very close to the ferry and on the main street in Meersburg. It was a 30 second walk from the lake and very near to the restaurants. The staff were very helpful and went out of their way to help and give advice.

Review 18:My only complaint is that there was only one tiny fan for the two adjoining rooms. It was an extremely hot and humid evening and this was insufficient.

Review 19:This room was a perfect stop for my husband and I with our 2 adult daughters. The beds were comfortable, the location excellently. The breakfast was fantastic with so many selections.

Review 20:The staff were very friendly on arrival (although limited English to our limited German was a bit of a challenge). Room was clean and well maintained. Location is brilliant, right in the center of things! We had a car, so had to drop off bags, and then park about 1 km away, but this was not too much hassle. Super elaborate breakfast (get there early for the salmon!!). Also, the staff arranged laundry to be done for us, which was a big help.

Review 21:Central location, friendly staff who helped us with luggage (room on the 4th floor!) and Freibad just a few minutes' walk away Need to be aware : only quick drop-off of luggage in front of hotel allowed, car park further away.

Review 22:Bed to hard. Most of the time no WIFI. The net is called "MeinHotspot" without login. Low pressure on the hot water.

Review 23:Super location and super breakfast. Friendly staff.

Review 24:Everything went well for the first 24 hours but the next morning was horrid. My son poured cereal into his bowl and out came BUGS crawling around. Then, we asked if the hotel would accept American VAT forms (tax free forms for those associated with the military) and they refused, even though the night prior they approved. I would not stay here again, as many other hotels accept VAT forms and serve bug-free breakfasts.

Review 25:The hotel staff were nice. The employees spoke multiple languages and had the rooms ready for our arrival. The rooms and beds were clean. The mirror in our room was cracked and needs replacement. The food at the hotel restaurant was good (8 out of 10) and the coffee was good.

Review 26:I could not get the invoice for my company, staff explained that the hotel booked privately (full name and address of the individual). In another hotel this was possible without any problems !!! When booked on booking.com I posted my request for an invoice for the service for my company. As a result, I paid privately !!

Review 27:we had a room on 4th floor that was facing north (view to the castle walls). Room was old and did not have a bathroom (shower on 3rd floor; not much water pressure and old interior). Beds were creaky and in general the top floors would need a renovation rather sooner than later. Walls too thin. No lift. Breakfast only from 8-10 am. WiFi only accessible after registering at a 3rd party. No possibility to store bicycles in the house.

Review 28:Breakfast with wide choice, very centrally located in the pedestrian area close to the harbour, lots of restaurants nearby

Review 29:The building is very old so everything creaks and it is very noisy. There are also shared bathrooms.

Review 30:The breakfast was AMAZING, and so was the location- it was right on a main shopping strip and right by the harbor. The room was comfortable but small.

Review 31:It rained.

Review 32:The location was good, but a bit hard to find in tiny streets. Able to unload luggage and park car near by. Breakfast was great, lots to choose from and staff helpful.

Review 33:Although rooms were acceptable they were small and as in attic space bit of a climb up the many stairs.

Review 34:Great location, friendly staff and enjoyable breakfast.

Review 35:Room was a little shabby and out dated but for the money, great value.

Review 36:Great location next to the lake. Parking can be arranged by the hotel. Breakfast was amazing, a great effort by the hotel and lovely, thank you.

Review 37:What an amazing breakfast buffet! I wish we stayed more days just to be able to try all the cold meats, cheeses, salmon, cold salads, freshly baked breads. We also had a delicious dinner the night before in their restaurant which is on the ground floor. The best Vienner schnitzel we ever tasted and delicious platter of three fish from the lake. Teh room was very clean. The hotel is in the pedestrian zone, so we parked 5 minutes away in the town's paid parking lot near where the ferry comes in.

Review 38:I didn't like only one thing-we had to pay extra for parking but perhaphs this was our fault as we didn't book it with hotel in advance. So I recommend checking with the hotel if it's possible to get it for free. Parking lot was around 500 m from the hotel.

Review 39:We stayed in the hotel for 2 nights and it was nice. The staff was very friendly, especially Polish speaking guy who was very helpful and nice. We really appreciated the sweets for our little boy that we found on our breakfast table - very nice surprise! Speaking of the breakfast - this was one of the best I've ever had in the small hotel like that. Wide choice, everthing fresh, tables assigned to rooms so no confusion and no fighting for the space. Location is great, 2 minutes away from the port, plenty of restaurants and pubs around and of course to the Bodensee itself. I can truly recommend the hotel.

Review 40:we were a family of 5 and stayed on the 4th floor- 60 steps to climb, floors creaked in all rooms, beds to small and no washrooms in any of our rooms (3)

Review 41:was in the center of town

Review 42:rooms a little small and dated but no problem for short stay

Review 43:excellent situation close to lake frontage.wonderful breakfast enough to last all day.the town is stunning and ferry boat 2 mins away for switzerland

Review 81:Quaint old building Fantastic breakfast

Review 82:The beds creeked

Review 83:no lift

Review 84:Good breakfast - best selection for hotel size.

Review 85:Due to hotel's location, hotel does offer private parking which is about 10mins walk away and cost about >6euro daily

Review 86:Good location, friendly staffs and very good breakfast spread! Good cosy location in the heart of Meersburg

Review 87:The beds were infested with these tiny mites, although harmless, i dont like sleeping in a beds ll of mites.

Review 88:Located on the lake and near shopping. The breakfast buffet was excellent, very good value for the money

Review 89:Quaint, Friendly staff, great restaurant, breakfast was perfect, location was great for access to transportation, town and spa. Would recommend to anyone.

Review 90:Not very sound proof. We were on the loft so I think we were better off in terms of privacy. Wifi signal weak on the loft with frequent disconnection.

Review 91:Best breakfast we had in our entire 4 weeks in Europe. Huge good quality selection of meats, cheeses, fruits, breads etc. No issues with bathroom sharing as it was a small B&B, did not have to wait at all. Location excellent.

Review 92:Staff was terrible, no english speaking, shaking hands... Not possible to store bicycles even when I requested it i advance, expencive bicycles left on a crouded street! Almost not possible to come with car, 7 EUR for parking in parking area 500meters far from hotel and no free parking place, troubles with getting luggages to hotel....

Review 93:absolutelly the best breakfast I have ever had in hotel.

Review 94:%Poor staff and poor hotel. Not speaking englis and low personal and communication souple. 50% price would still be much for that accommodation. Difficulties tocome wit car and no biccles storage.

Review 95:Absolutel best breakfast I ever got. Qualit and quantit.

Review 96:Paper thin walls and roof meant that rain and the noises from other guests colluded to provide two very poor nights' sleep. Not very comfortable bed either.

Review 97:Setting one street back from lake, all the shops and restaurants right there. Being on top of a wonderful restaurant, super staff, huge attic room, wonderful breakfasts, great wifi connection, free parking.

Review 98:location great in old town of Meersberg; fantastic food - evening meal at hotel very good and breakfast absolutely outstanding. would love to have been able to spend more time there.

Review 99:Good location in busy town with lots of restaurants/shops just across road from ferry Breakfast is not to be missed the staff put on a great choice of breads cheeses meats and hot or cold eggs

Review 100:No elevator. Rooms were extremely hot. Some of the staff were a bit abrupt and unfriendly.

Review 101:Very nice, clean and affordable accommodations in an expensive area. Excellent and huge breakfast with tons of variety. Perfect location on the main street with cheap reserved parking a short walk away.

Review 102:Parking is a bit far away. Aso we happened to catch the morning when all the rubbish of the town accumulated for two weeks was being collected. but it is nothing to do with the hotel

Review 103:The hotel is very friendly. Lovely restaurant, we did not even have a desire to eat elswhere. Fantastic breakfast! The hotel is just two steps away from the lovely beach.

Review 104:There were bugs on the bed. In the middle of the night, we has to ask them to switch us to another room. We got not even an apology for having provided us with a room with bugs, at that moment nor the following morning at check-out. Disgusting.

Review 105:Location

Review 106:We were in the attic, so a long way up to carry our luggage. This wasbecause we booked a room with shared bathroom (which was not on the samefloor). It was very hot while we were there, but there was a fan in theroom. Having tried to check out the night before (they were too busyserving dinner guests) we checked out at 7.30 the next morning and theonly staff member on duty was the breakfast cook, who didn't knowwhat to do. It helps to be able to speak German.

Review 107:Great location right in the middle of the town and close to the ferries.Breakfast was good too, and they had a reserved car park not too faraway, for an extra 5 euros per day.

Review 108:Parking was quite far from the hotel.

Review 109:We stayed in the family suite with 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. Though the furnishing was a bit outdated, the rooms were clean and the beddings comfortably warm. The buffet breakfast was great!

Review 110:The staff could not have been more helpful or considerate. The location was in the centre of Meersburg but quiet, despite the crowds in the town. The room was clean and comfortable and the bathroom had been recently refurbished to a very high standard. Overall, an excellent place to stay.

Review 111:Hotel is very comfortable. Staff is very nice. Hotel is situated in a very good place. We have not any problems. Breakfasts are very tasteful, a big assortment of food.

Review 112:Check-in was impersonal and disorganized. I believed I'd booked a double and single room, but it turned out to be two doubles. I did not think that the room/service merited the cost of 90euros! The walls are thin so you are awake in the morning very early.

Review 113:Location was good. Lovely breakfast and table set with your room number was a nice touch.

Review 114:Close to the Contance's Lake front. Right in the town center. Breakfast is nice. We parked our car in a public parking near the ferry terminal free of charge.

Review 115:Service at TOP world class level combined with atmosphere of quiet and calm small hotel. Very friendly and helpful. Excellent example of the finest hospitality.

Review 116:The hotel was great, very neat and clean, with very good restaurant at the ground floor. Staff were all very friendly. Owner was the most hospitable person we have met so far. We were given better room with no extra charge, simply cause nobody rented it. Also, when leaving before 7am on Sunday, the owner woke up early to make us a coffee, hand in a breakfast-packages and say goodbye! Definitely recommend the hotel to anyone staying in Meersburg or vicinity.

Review 117:Small room with only a skylight.

Review 118:Excellent location.

Review 119:Wi-fi needed to be logged in every use.

Review 120:Lovelly breakfast choice.

Review 121:They could have offered to help us with our luggage!

Review 122:Excellent hotel for our brief visit to lovely Meersburg.
