Reviews for Hotel Schloss Zell

Review 1:Hotel Schloss Zell was by far the most memorable stay during a two week vacation. The hotel is beautiful inside and out. We had a candle light dinner outside under the vine covered terrace which was truly romantic and the meal was exceptional. Breakfast is also by candlelight in a gorgeous mid century room and very good. It was a 30th anniversary I will never forget. The receptionist was very friendly and made you feel at home. I would highly recommend this hotel.

Review 2:Only minor flaw was the internet did not work at all (from any devices) from our room, so we had to go down to the lobby to get online. Also, while the room was quite nice, it was also so modern that while in the room, we didn't feel like we were in a castle. (We stayed in another castle a week before that seemed more authentically like a Castle.)

Review 3:Stayed in a nice sized room with a loft, everything very modern and well-done. It is off to the side of the building, so no neighbors (noise) to worry about. Pretty castle exterior and area.

Review 4:Free wi-fi a bit hit and miss, but in truth probably a result of the thickness of the castle walls.

Review 5:Warm friendly welcome, professional staff, lovely hotel, beautifully kept. Great place if travelling with your dog. Restaurant staff friendly and knowledgable, food quality superb.

Review 6:Tea & coffee making facilities in the room would have been nice. Couldn't find a wifi connection but the walls are so thick it might be unavoidable

Review 7:Staff extremely helpful and friendly, location outstanding, character and history of the building. Breakfast outstandingly good and varied

Review 8:Wifi could not be used in our room. The Schloss is in a street away from the river (a row of buildings prevents any view of the Mosel). Our room looked across an alley at another building about 3 metres away.

Review 9:Lovely building and room, hostess was very helpful.

Review 10:We had to take taxi from/to the station. We couldn't use wifi in the room.

Review 11:Very good atmosphere. We could feel the life in the castle. The restaurant was also great . Wunderba!

Review 12:If you have trouble with stairs maybe request a room on a lower level. But all castle stays have stairs because they are worth it the climb.

Review 13:Excellent accommodation beautiful region. Sensational breakfast and Karen and Petra make you very welcome. Thank you for our brilliant stay.

Review 14:Wifi didn't work in our room. Difficult to log on with their system.

Review 15:Room was great. Clean and spacious. Nice patio for wine and dinner. Breakfast was nice.

Review 16:The lack of wifi in the rooms and the difficulties in paying with card.

Review 17:The building was nice, the rooms were spacious, toilet with good size, the hostess was very kind and the breakfast was delicious with fresh salad fruit and tasty bread.

Review 18:There is absolutely nothing to dislike about this hotel.

Review 19:Fabulous hotel. We were the only guests and Karin let us have the place to ourselves! Very clean, warm bedroom.Massive bathroom. Very good buffet breakfast. We had room No 6, one of the tower rooms and worth the extra few quid. We willl definitely revist this hotel, maybe in summer next time though! Would recommend a trip here.

Review 20:Fantastic romantic hotel! We had a tower room - comfortable, spacious, and a huge bathroom. Owner was outgoing, friendly and very helpful, and breakfast was perfect - plentiful and great variety. No elevator - spiral stairs up the tower are a workout (it's a castle, yes?) Lots of dining & shopping within walking distance, and plenty of wonderful towns along the Mosel within a short drive. Wonderful place to stay!

Review 21:No lift The restaurant is a separate business to the hotel managed by another operator where the food is good, but the service is very slow.

Review 22:Very friendly and helpful owner High standard of comfortable rooms First class breakfast Historic atmosphere Free exercise facility included as there's no lift in this centuries old schloß,

Review 23:Staff and owner were very helpful and friendly, really went out of their way to be welcoming. Tower room was fabulous, beds were comfortable and bathroom huge. Breakfast was high standard and varied. On site parking was convenient, but limited. We had room 6 and wifi worked well. Other rooms apparently can have difficulty receiving. The restaurant was superb and prices very reasonable. Every dish we ate was delicious and the vaulted room added great atmosphere. Spiral staircase to the rooms may be difficult for older or physically limited guests. Location is very convenient to the centre of Zell and just a short stroll to the river. There are supermarkets a short drive away on the other side of the river, and many restaurants and cafes within a short walk.

Review 24:The building is a delightful 500 year old property, conveniently placed in the centre of the village with parking out front. The landlady was very friendly and very helpful and spoke good English. The selection of food for breakfast was excellent. The restaurant, in an adjoining part of the building, is run by a separate group of people but provides a first class service and the best steak you will ever eat, seated under a canopy of 100 year old vines wrapped around the gazebo. Magical!

Review 25:The restaurant was wonderful, the building is a gorgeous historic house, and the setting is also beautiful. We stayed one night while on a walking holiday and just loved it. It was our favourite place to stay in the Mosel!

Review 52:We liked the idea of it being a castle.

Review 53:Nothing.

Review 54:I had the most wonderful four days at this hotel while I was buying a holiday home there. The owner, Karin, was so helpful and warm and made me feel very welcome. The restaurant was 5 Star eating and the castle setting and rooms were breathtakingly elegant with such a fantastic history. What a wonderful start to Christmas- almost a fairytale.

Review 55:This was absolutely a perfect place for a relaxing week's holiday for a couple interested in history, culture, nature, sports, food and wine. Service was excellent throughout. The atmosphere of the castle has been retained with great care. Moderate prices compared to the experiences offered to customers.

Review 56:We had a nice stay at the castle, where in particular the breakfast room was impressive. There was a nice outdoor area where dinner was served (we did not eat there). The staff was also very friendly and service-minded, so we can definitely recommend this hotel.

Review 57:Slightly high price for room.

Review 58:Large room, excellent breakfast, located in very scenic wine country location. Pet friendly and staff always wanting to know if they could do something to make sure our stay was enjoyable.

Review 59:The hotel is in a beautifully and tastefully restored castle. It is conveniently located to the river, pedestrian zone and bus stops. The hotel owner was extremely nice, offering us an upgrade and picking us up from the train station in Bullay. The breakfast was plentiful, and restaurant was very good. The hotel and restaurant staff were friendly.
