Reviews for Hotel Garni Sonnhof

Review 1:Quaint, clean, conveniently located, spacious rooms with lovely balconies, massive TV, soft pillows and indulgent baths. Fantastic light and airy dining/lounging area and modern clean sauna and steam facilities. Above all Christian the owner made us feel instantly at home with locally roasted coffees, local knowledge, good conversation and delicious breakfast. I'll book well in advance for my next visit to Bad Ischl because I can't imagine staying anywhere else!!

Review 2:Happy with everything

Review 3:Location is superb opposite thermal baths and station and just 3 min walk to the centre, room was very spacious indeed, lovely balcony. We stayed for 10 days and thoroughly enjoyed. Can highly recommend

Review 4:Nice old property with character near the train station and centre but still in a quiet location. Had a room with balcony overlooking the mountains which was great.

Review 5:Rooms need to be renovated

Review 6:Location Breakfast (for me included despite the fact that it was not supposed to be?) Huge room wirh nice terrace and 2 bathrooms Garden

Review 7:Only downside was trying to find it--Bad Ischl is a difficult town to drive in with narrow curving 1-way streets.

Review 8:Picked this hotel for its location, but it was an unexpected delight. Quiet and in a secluded setting (indeed hard to find), large room, entire hotel decorated in eclectic blend of antiques and crafts. Breakfast served in a pretty and comfortable solarium.

Review 9:The WIFI did not always work, but it seems to be a general problem in Austria...

Review 10:A really nice, about 500 years old building, like an old castle. Big and comfortable room, big a well equipped bathroom, balcony, everything you want. That time there was not many guests, so we had a private sauna with my wife.

Review 11:The hotel is a very old house with a very stilish interior design. The personal is very friendly and ready to help. You can go every time you want to the EuroTherme which are very closed to the Hotel ( 2 min). The hotel doesn't offer breakfast but you are very welcome to come with your own. Also, they are offering for free coffee and tee. If you are looking for a quite and comfortable place with friendly people around choose this hotel. we are very thankful for the time we spent there.

Review 12:The town seemed to close down at 9.30pm on a Saturday night !

Review 13:Guesthouse with lots of character. Great size rooms with large bathrooms plus balconies. Super hosts, eager to please. Ideal location for discovering the lovely town.

Review 14:No negative comments.

Review 15:Lucka and Christian were extremely friendly, helpful and charming hosts. The room was spacious, parking was easy, the breakfast was very good and the hotel is very conveniently situated.

Review 16:overpriced breakfast (€ 12.50 per person), few choices, no sausage or eggs around 8.30am (BF time 7.30 to 10.00am), not restocked, had to ask, took 10 min to serve absolutely undercooked runny "boiled" eggs, staff was snippy when asked about it, so I doubt that service will change.

Review 17:large clean room, beautiful garden, bright winter garden

Review 18:The hotel is deteriorated and needs to be refurbished urgently. The stairs from the parking lot to the reception are very dangerous specially at night. In our room, the shower separated from the lavatory is uncomfortable. Although we had prepaid for three nights, we left after the first night. We had to loose the money but we found a very good hotel in a perfect downtown location with excellent service.

Review 19:Breakfast should be a part of the payment made. Also should have some food for dinner time as there are few dinner joints in the neighbourhood.

Review 20:The warmth of the staff and cosy clean place in lush green surroundings

Review 21:Everything was great except staff. This time in Austria we stayed in a dozen of hotels. In each hotel except this one people were very nice. It looks like smiling is not allowed in this hotel. It is a pity that I have to say this as the hotel itself is excellent.

Review 22:- Wifi didn't work in the bedroom, only worked in the bathroom.

Review 23:- Location, which is just next to the train/bus station. It's on a small hill andsurrounded by trees. - Room, which has balcony.

Review 24:Despite the very large sign - it is possible to miss the entrance as it looks as though it's for a private house.

Review 25:The garden The rooms The general ambiance if the place - very avant-grade and quirky full of old furniture. The breakfast

Review 26:Nothing

Review 27:Location is great! Just right in front of the train station. The place is so lovely and people are very nice

Review 29:nothing

Review 30:Everything!

Review 31:No WiFi

Review 32:Very nice hotel excellently located

Review 33:We had a tired room without the promised balcony or refrigerator. Breakfast was not included. Spider webs in the bathroom.

Review 34:Nice towels.

Review 35:This is a beautifully located hotel with a wonderful breakfast room and lovely staff. We enjoyed our stay immensely.

Review 36:Very close to the train station but also an easy walk to the city centre. The room was comfortable and with a balcony. The breakfast room is lovely!

Review 37:bug...;-(

Review 38:be close to train/bus

Review 39:Lots of trees and couldn't sit around the hotel

Review 40:Facility, wifi and the garden surrounding the hotel

Review 41:Location

Review 42:Slight up hill to the property , not easy with big luggage

Review 43:Parks near by.. With guest card get free admission to the Kaiser Park

Review 44:Everything was good but breakfast is expensive.

Review 45:Maybe a little "rustic"

Review 46:Expensive breakfast

Review 47:Lovely leafy setting. Old building full of character.

Review 48:Good location, classical equipment.

Review 49:The staff were friendly, the rooms were huge and spacious. It was very comfortable in a terrific location.

Review 50:2mins from the train station, a few minutes walk to the town centre, the rooms are clean. It's value for money!

Review 51:The staff was totally invisible. It felt like pure luck that we saw someone when it was time to check in. Same at check out in the morning

Review 52:expensive breakfast (10 euros for the kids as well) and the croissant is extra charge

Review 53:Beautiful house with garden, nice view, rooms are comfortable.

Review 54:Good location! Beautiful circumstance! Clean and quiet

Review 55:the location is just near the train station ,maybe 2 minutes walk. It is really pretty and beautiful decoration indoor and there is a pretty garden downstairs. We booked a room for three persons, one big single bed and a queen bed, two bathrooms and two little terraces with nice view and big TV in the living room which we used to watch World Cup!! Bad Isch is really nice town to visit. There is a very famous royal cafè you have to try definitely.

Review 56:Very quiet. Spacious and the unusual and attractive decor enhanced our experience. Great breakfast and wonderful and comfortable atmosphere. Great hotel!

Review 57:Mind your head if you are tall as some of the doorways are not so big. I unfortunately bumped my head but this was my own fault.

Review 58:The owners were very friendly towards us and very helpful with regards to information on the town and activities we could get up to. I'd recommend getting a room with balcony as they can be great to sit out on nice evenings. The room was very spacious and very comfortable.

Review 59:Everything was very nice. In addition the atmosphere was very geuine and Austrian. The house has a special history.. very personal and beautifully kept. Charlotte Broms Stockholm/Schweden

Review 60:Wonderfully decorated and has been a standout in this regard in Austria for us. Excellent breakfast. Perfectly located near the main train station. A great jump station to many great destinations in the area.

Review 61:Location is good, bus station and Eurothermo is just around the corner. Deco in the hotel is unique and fantastic. The manager is helpful and friendly. breakfast is 10 euro (worth the money)

Review 62:We would have liked to sleep with the windows open, but the bedroom windows do not have screens....this can be important at night!

Review 63:The building and grounds were lovely, with casual decor/design emitting a world-friendly and eco-friendly vibe. Fresh eggs for breakfast and incredible gardens surrounding every window. Walking distance to everything in town, but on a wooded hill, so still secluded. Exactly what I wanted when booking a hotel in this area.

Review 64:Check in time is not flexible. When I was there at 8 o'clock, I could not find any staff in reception. However, I recommand this hotel strongly.

Review 65:First of all, Location is the best of the best, Just infront of station. Staffs were so kind to me. Room condition was cozy and clean.

Review 66:The hotel territory is absolutely fantastic, all green, with interesting ancient decor, the building is 500-years old, worth seeing, hotel interior and exterior are wonderful. The location is great: it's next to bus/train station, so you can use it to go to other towns, it's 10 min walk from the centre, opposite the Eurothermen resort, where you definitely should go to use their thermal pools. The breakfast is very good, free wi-fi works well. Christian, the hotel owner, is very friendly and nice person.

Review 67:Convenient for Railway and buses and close to town centre. surrounded by trees and garden - very quiet. Spacious accommodation and our request for a bath tub was met. Friendly, helpful staff and breakfast above average on our second visit when the owner had returned. A very interesting old Austrian house - full of character.

Review 68:Location was excellent. Very close to the train station and also very close to the Thermal Baths. Within easy walking distance to the town center of Bad Ischl.

Review 69:Nothing to say here.

Review 70:1. The hotel location is great! It is located just 5 minutes from the city centre, but in the forest, so you can enjoy the peace, quiet and fresh air. All the attractions are easy reachable. 2. If you have a car there are parking places, if you going to see cities around and travel by train - there is a train terminal opposite to the hotel, but there is no noise at all! 3. The breakfast is very good and a coffee is just great, even better than I get from my coffee machine! :) 4. The hotel owner is a very friendly and nice person and speaks English very good.

Review 71:We hoped to have a water cooking pot in the room.

Review 72:The location is so perfect, just right beside Hbf and the hot spring SPA. The city center is within 3 minutes walking distance. Beautiful dinning room and rich breakfast.....

Review 73:Liked everything1

Review 74:Lots of character, very clean spacious room, two bathrooms (one with shower and toilet, one with sink and hude bath), lovely breakfast with eggs from the hotel's chickens!, lovely conservatory for breakfast, 5 to 10 mins walk to the town centre, great view from hotel balcony (room no 10).

Review 75:The location is soooooo good! Just outside the train station! The staffare soooooo friendly and interesting. The house is like a museum! Roomis big as well! The best part is even if it locates 1 minutes away fromthe rail sation, still sooooo quite!

Review 76:We were very upset because we made the booking online, but when wearrived the hotel had no record of our booking. It caused time and moneyfor us to go and locate the booking number which was irrelevant andunrecognized by the hotel. The booking was handled very poorly!

Review 77:Owner was great. Very knowlegable and spoke English very well. Interesting facility. Excellent breakfast. Organic. Fun location, in the city, but private.
