Reviews for Hotel Villa Seeschau - Adults only
Review 1:the was no air conditioning and this is big when it's 95 degrees in the shade!!!
Review 2:Cleanliness was their top priority and it showed in every aspect of this hotel, including the garage!!! Well located with a short walk to town. Breakfast was good including fried eggs on request
Review 3:No swimming pool. No restaurant. Too far from local restaurants. Rooms on the side on lower level small and hot in summer. Very disappointing was payment of 9 euro per day when parked on parking lot although located in rural area. Too expansive overall.
Review 4:Luxurious designed. Good breakfast.
Review 5:Close to old town but a steep walk down to the water and eating places. Need to stay 2 nights at least to explore it all and enjoy the peaceful hotel setting.. Hotel does not accept credit cards.
Review 6:Lovely view of the Lake and Old Town from peaceful setting in luxury hotel on the hill. Rooms tastefully decorated, supplied with a bounty of amenities. Breakfast a pampered delight with ample choices, white table linens, and lovely views to lake beyond.
Review 7:Make sure you notice on their reservation page that this place takescash only. For the cost, you're going to have to make sure you havequite a few Euros in your pocket/wallet.
Review 8:This place is named aptly. You get a great view of the lake. Theamenities were great, the staff incredible, and the breakfast was out ofthis world.
Review 9:No A/C!!! No fridge in the bedroom. Uncovered parking -4,5 euro per day- no info in our reservation!!! Underground parking 9 euro per day- mentioned in the reservation. Cash only!
Review 10:Nice views. Good location
Review 11:Payment is only by cash. As most of the hotels we stayed we paid by credit card and we did not prepare to have cash at hands. We had to go into town to withdraw the money from the cash machine.
Review 12:A welcoming atmosphere. A spacious room with comfi bed and a view of Lake Constance. An excellent breakfast. Within a walking distance to the centre.
Review 13:This place is incredible!!! It overlooks the old town and is up on ahill. They have their own parking area, as there is no parking in town. The staff are great and the rooms are perfect. We took a suite which hadeverything inside of it including its own wine cooler and dry sauna.Recommend it in a flash!!!
Review 14:That I had to pay for parking. Wifi didn't work well in Room #9
Review 15:Beautiful flower garden. Nice breakfast. Private location walking distance to the lake.
Review 16:Jacuzzi not working, request for repair made twice. Staff did not inform us that it was finally working on our last day. So we never got to use it. No means to make tea in the room, only espresso machine.
Review 17:Breakfast room with a great view of the lake Outside terrace with same great lake view Property and garden is beautiful Sheep next to the property gives it special charm. Paulchen, the house dog is adorable
Review 18:Another hotel that doesn't accept payment by credit card any longer, this is for most businessmen a reason not to come back again. We simply cannot prepay all our hotels cash, we have company credit cards to pay for our hotels and other expenses necessary for our job.
Review 19:Very friendly staff, underground parking space, a beautiful hotel offering all comfort you need, splendid rooms, some with view on the lake, a fantastic breakfast buffet.
Review 20:Parking is not free. No fridge in the room.
Review 21:Great location with view over Meersburg and Lake Constance. Friendly and efficient staff, very good breakfast. WiFi fast and easy. Beautifully decorated interior and dining room. Self service for a huge collection of wines and other drinks.
Review 22:Spotlessly clean; immaculate decor, linen and furnishings. Nice view over Lake Constance to Switzerland. Superb breakfast choice with interesting elements.
Review 23:Pls, check if your booking allows you to pay by card. Most likely you can pay only in cash.
Review 24:The best in Meersburg and neighbourhood. Cordial atittude of owners makes you feel like at home. Tranquil atmosphere. Very sophisticated. Fantastic breakfast, strong wifi, good options to set the ideal room temperature, great views of Lake Constance, Alps and wineyards (the villa sits on the top of hill), fabulous garden architecture, nice range of wines and beverages in self-service fridge. We came back after a few years and everything seems to be only better than we remembered. We really love it there. If you have 3-4 hours left, take the ferry (25min) to Island Mainau. Nice chateau, gardens and playgrounds for kids.
Review 25:We loved Mrs. Schneider! She is the most lovely lady we had ever met as a hotel hostess. We arrived for the check in at 9pm when we could only do it until 6pm, but somehow we didn't see it, and she came down to open us the door although she was already ready to bed :) we loved our stay in Villa Seeschau
Review 26:The bathroom was too small. We were expecting to get a nice modern shower as depicted in the site instead we got a tub with a shower and a curtain
Review 27:The location was excellent and the hotel very cosy with stunning views
Review 28:The bed is pretty small, but it's Ok for me
Review 29:The view from the hotel is so nice! I have a single room with a small yard which views the most breath taking views for Meersburg area…
Review 30:My room was just in front of the reception. The breakfast had no cakes or croissant or any sweet things. The afternoon tea is poor.
Review 31:The room and instalations are great
Review 32:Nothing at all
Review 33:Absolutely everything. Fabulous room with wonderful views from the balcony. Breakfast was superb with tables decorated as if you were in a £500 a night hotel. 5 minute walk from the lovely Meersburg.
Review 34:expensive in relation to other hotels stayed at in bavaria
Review 35:close to meersberg centre excellent breakfast pleasant surroundings comfortable room with view over the lake
Review 36:Serving of the omelette at breakfast was confused and not what you'd expect from somewhere as wonderful as the Villa Seeschau.
Review 37:Loved the location, the afternoon tea served on the terrace, the design and the extra touches that set it apart from the others. Really beautiful upmarket place to stay and enjoy.
Review 38:A little pricey although it was the height of the summer. Drawbacks - 4 star however, did not offer evening meals or a swimming pool.
Review 39:Clean and fresh interior both in the rooms and main areas. Very modern design inside and excellent beds. Superb views over Lake Constance and easy access to Meersburg (short walk although very steep). Everyone very friendly and helpful.
Review 40:The price. 100% cancellation fee. Money was deducted from my visa card 5 months before and no receipt was issued, until I requested one via Booking.com. Breakfast staff were unfriendly and I felt like a burden to them. I did discuss with manager and they couldn't understand my English. No really apology was given. On sign-out, all that was said to me was "have a good day"!
Review 41:The views of church steeple & Bondensee vista. The quietness, cleanliness, decor.
Review 42:nothing really.
Review 43:Location is perfect. Very quiet room Great breakfast Nice view from my room of vineyard outside patio with great view Wine and champagne for sale but expensive walk to town expresso machine in room
Review 44:We had view on the lake room but you can just see the lake on top of the town. it's useless to pay extra for that. Very small room. bathroom also very small and it's just a basic one. Picture on the web site from the bathroom were not right and looked better. At the end we didn't enjoy our stay as we had the feeling we paid too much. If we had pay 150€ for the room it would have been great but when you pay 288€ a night you expect something better.
Review 45:Very clean
Review 46:Not something we didn't like, merely a word of caution for American travelers not used to such things: Check-in time is from 2-6. If you'll not make it by then, let the hotel know so you do not feel like the boorish jerks we felt when arriving late and having to wake the innkeeper.
Review 47:Just about everything: Lovely property, wonderful views from the balconies and porch, reasonably-priced and well-stocked honor wine bar, good breakfast, fabulous staff. Just a five-minute walk from beautiful central Meersburg. Really cannot rate highly enough.
Review 48:Our room was clean and extremely comfortable. Coffee in room is a plus! The breakfast buffet is delicious and plentiful. The outside patio offers a lovely place to unwind after a long day of cycling/touring.
Review 49:In general a/c is not needed but sometimes it was too hot on the night. Some swimming pool would be nice. Parking in garage is not for free although hotel is not big.
Review 50:Romantic luxury hotel, 8 minutes walking from downtown. Very good breakfast. You can buy local good wine and taste it on the terrace. Nice restaurant.
Review 51:Nothing. Will come back next time.
Review 52:Room modern, fashionable and clean. Balcony view is breathtaking. Secure carpark. Beautiful surrounding for an excellent breakfast.
Review 53:They couldn't settle to bill with a credit card, as the machine was broken, so we had to get cash - at least they told us this when we arrived, so we had time to visit bank. Parking must be booked and charged extra.
Review 54:Stayed in the annexe - a small, self-contained cottage in the garden. Spacious and comfortable but at the back of the hotel, so no views. Staff spoke little English but friendly and courteous. Wonderful breakfast, served in the elegant dining room, with views down to Meersburg and the Lake. 5 minutes walk to top of the old town - 15-20 down to lakeside, longer back as uphill!
Review 55:Very bad reception on first breakfast. One woman serving walking around very visibly with her nose on the air making a point not looking at guests. Got me really irritated as we did not get our tea until too late. Not until she noted my irritating did she start to serve us. Incredibly stupid! After this she was all apologies. But point taken. This was her turf.
Review 56:Perfect location a bit above meersburg. Perfect view. They actually exaggerate the distance to town, but you need a strong pair of legs to get back up.
Review 57:great little villa, very cute and immaculate presentation
Review 58:Great views, good breakfast, very nice decor, friendly staff, excellent wifi
Review 59:Beautiful location and view, clean room and hotel, well maintained.
Review 60:Fantastic location, friendly staff, amazing breakfast, stylish rooms
Review 61:Wi-fi was not accessible anywhere in the hotel throughout our stay.
Review 62:Excellent lake views, very clean hotel, copious breakfast.
Review 63:Convenient location with nice views; quiet neighborhood; very clean hotel with a lot of class
Review 64:Over priced. No English speaking staff. Not worth at this price to stay there.
Review 65:Nothing especially.
Review 66:High price for single room.
Review 67:Great location (just 10 min walk to the embankment and shops). Very quiet.
Review 68:Charging for outside parking was a bit cheeky
Review 69:Location, homely feel
Review 70:Cannot cope with extreme heat (no air conditioning or fans)
Review 71:Modern, well kept boutique hotel. Functionally excellent rather than quaint/charming.
Review 72:very good decor, vey clean
Review 73:Poor bathroom. No air conditioning.
Review 74:Lovely location looking down on lake from hotel.
Review 75:Modern small hotel in an old town.
Review 76:Friendly helpful staff clean comfortable room with a great view from the terrace. Great breakfast
Review 77:The view and attention to detail
Review 78:None
Review 79:This is the best hotel during our travel. Everything is amazing.
Review 80:Breakfast...amazing! Staff were superb Room beautiful Views breathtaking
Review 81:Everything. Villa Seeschau and town of Meersburg were wonderful.
Review 82:Nothing
Review 83:Location Friendly staff Clean garage View from our room and balcony Breakfast Cleanliness
Review 84:Lovely inn located at the top of the hill overlooking the town and lake. Excellent breakfast selections in beautiful surroundings! Gardens were beautiful! Staff was extremely helpful and friendly. Our stay at Villa Seechau was very restful and relaxing.
Review 85:Nothing to report here!
Review 86:A beautiful house, decorated in excellent taste. Our room with terrace had a lovely view of Lake Constance. The staff was extraordinarily helpful and polite and the breakfast bar superb. Superb value for the money.
Review 87:wish the Seeschau had a restarurant. . .
Review 88:Simply fabulous, the view on the Lake of Konstanz, the nicely furnished room, the unique "self service bar", the breakfast with all you ca think of in the beautifully decorated breakfast room
Review 89:Breakfast was amazing, as others have mentioned. The staff was helpful and courteous. All of the furnishings and linens are new and of very high quality.
Review 90:We could not settle our bill with our credit card- the hotel system could not process it, so we had to run to town for cash. It was a minor inconvenience.
Review 91:It was a beautiful property in a beautiful tow. The rooms were comfortable. The breakfast was included and was outstanding. The location was just a short walk to town. We were just there overnight. We would have liked another day.
Review 92:Very beautiful hotel surrounding with the wineyard. The hotel offers panorama lake view with the alp mountain. The personal was very helpful. The room was very well-designed and clean.
Review 93:Not applicable
Review 94:The view of Lake Bodensee and the mountains from it's high position above the centre of Meerburg. The good range of food and healthy options at breakfast. The helpful and friendly staff.
Review 95:No price list for laundry in the room, a little bit hard to get to on foot from the old city because of the location on the hill, especially with lots of luggage, better arrange the pick-up service on advance
Review 96:Helpful service team, nice view of the lake from the room, even if it was the room "with the view of garden" in the description, delicious breakfast and the beautiful dining room with garden
Review 97:There was nothing that we didn't like
Review 98:I stayed with my son in July and being out of the main tourist area it was wonderfully quiet with a great view of the lake. The walk into Meersburg for meals and shopping was easy. Breakfast was amazing in its variety of choice, I wish I could have eaten more. The garage was fantastic for our motor bikes, very clean and very secure. The attention to detail is every where that you look and it has a feeling of pampered opulence.
Review 99:No reconditioning. No fridge in room or facilities for ice although you could purchase drinks from the refrigerators in the entrance hall. Quite expensive and for a 4 star would have expected better facilities. .
Review 100:Beautiful views. Friendly staff. -
Review 101:A steep walk from the lakeside to the hotel but this could be ameliorated by using the car park down by the lake on the right side of Meersburg!
Review 102:Very clean and well maintained with lovely garden and view over Meersburg and the lake. Excellent breakfast with smart white tablecloths and white covered chairs.
Review 103:I don't see how they can justify the cost of this hotel; we paid€244/night but had to also then pay a supplement for parking ourcar. There are no staff on site after about 17.30 so no room service;despite what their website said the staff hardly speak English; the sidewindow in our room meant people on the communal terrace could lookstraight in when the blind was open. Not impressed. I'd recommendthe destination but not the hotel.
Review 104:No ramp for the suit cases.
Review 105:Excellent location overlooking the lake with friendly and attentative staff. Our room decor had a romantic setting and was spacious and very clean. It was a pleasure to stay there and I would return in the future.
Review 106:Everything- the room was beautiful and comfortable, they have an honor system wine bar in the lobby, gorgeous breakfast spread with lovely table settings and service. We hated to leave!
Review 107:Small shower and plastic shower curtain that clung to body. For thisprice (2x nearby hotels) should have nice shower and glass enclosure. Our only negative.
Review 108:Truly beautiful bright, contemporary lobby, lounge and dining areas.Best breakfast we've ever had, anywhere in the world. Very classyand I felt pampered. Beautiful bed with view to vinyards and sea.Friendly staff. Loved every minute of it.
Review 109:Very thing was perfect.
Review 110:We loved this hotel. Very very esthetic, very serene. Everything on a very high standard. We hade a side room with view of the alps and a bit of the lake overlooking a vineyard. The location is on a hill overlooking the beautiful Lake Constance. We would gladly come again.
Review 111:Having to pay for parking. Would like tea and coffee making facilities in room.
Review 112:Beautifully presented.Spotlessly clean. Staff friendly and eager to please.Unbelievable attention to detail in furnishings.. Elegant and stylish. Fantastic breakfast choice. Underground secure parking. Quiet location but only five minutes from a fantastic choice of restaurants. Afternoon tea a lovely idea.
Review 113:This was the most expensive hotel of our eleven night trip and we thought it was sea-side - it is only sea-view. Town is in walking distance but getting back to hotel is straight up a very steep incline so be aware of this if you don't bring a car.
Review 114:This beautiful hotel is as advertised "Italian Villa" look and feel. It had a very large room with a patio with sea view. When we checked in the receptionist didn't speak English very well but bent over backwards to help us understand parking and procedures - even went out to the garage and demonstrated and helped us park the car! At check-out there was a younger woman with excellent English who helped us with directions and fares.
Review 115:Staff a bit grumpy Parking fee of 7,50€ when you can park free in the street, there is no sign that it is paid parking, it is in the small print of the reservation. That was the only minus, rest was really positive.
Review 116:Location Facilities Breakfast
Review 117:the simple elegance of the whole place, the beautiful view over the lake south to the Swiss Alps, the outstanding quality of the breakfast, the discreet friendliness of the owner and the personnel, the afternoon tea with lovely homemade cakes (free)
Review 118:Would have liked more visitor leaflets in English in th lobby.
Review 119:Made to feel welcome from the moment we checked in.Just loved theplace.Wish it was a little nearer so we could visit again.
Review 120:I could not understand that they do not have bar fridges in the rooms. Often we wanted to keep some cold water in the room or a snack as the hotel restaurant is not open at night. They do have an honesty bar which is well stocked down stairs, but sometimes you want to have something different and we found that to be a problem. The other thing is, that one cannot make a cup of tea or coffee after walking back from dinner in the town. There is no way of doing this as the place is shut down in the evenings.
Review 121:The Hotel is in walking distance from the beautiful town of Meersburg. It has a beautiful view over lake Constance. The rooms were very nice and all in white and very clean. The breakfast was good and the variety good too. The staff were very pleasant and the owners too. Also found it to be a bit pricy for what you are getting, compared to many of the other places we have stayed in.
Review 122:Room was small, bathroom very small. Shower was tight and only had a wrap around shower curtain, which tended to cling to your body, for shower enclosure. For privacy in room at night had to lower the outside metal window coverings which greatly restricted airflow - too warm. Was very difficult to see lake in our "lake view" room because of vineyard and netting over plants which were outside room. If want a lake view be sure to get a room on one of the top two floors. 15 min or so walk into town - steep uphill walk back from town. Do not recommend for non-German speaking visitors as owners made little attempt to communicate in English - only place we found this in our month long travels of Germany. Thought attitude there was a bit "stuffy". With as many lodging choices as there are in Meersburg, this would not be our choice next visit.
Review 123:The grounds and common areas were beautiful. Breakfast buffet and setting very nice. Garage parking on premises with reservation. Elevator. Nice outdoor seating area. Meersburg great place to stay. Loved waterfront and town area - many restaurants, great views. Took ferry over to Konstanz and visited both island communities over there. Very enjoyable.
Review 124:The breakfast is incredible! Stunning view of lake & Meersburg church towers. Lovely garden. Comfortable rooms. Delightful walk to old village with numerous shops & restaurants. We will stay there again. Quiet neighborhood.
Review 125:There was no air conditioning in the room and I don't believe we weretold this when booking. Also, I was not sure why we had to pay forparking and the parking was on their own property. Again, I don'tbelieve this information was provided ahead of time. And since we didnot speak German we were relying on the villa to have persons thatdid speak English to help us with our travel/sight seeing questions. They did have a person in the day that was very helpful but not inthe evenings.
Review 126:Very scenic and charming villa. Enjoyed the view and sitting outside onour balcony
Review 127:We loved the hotel. From the terrace there is a beautiful view of thelake and it is secluded from the bustle of the old town. However a 5 minwalk downhill (a little longer coming back!) gets you to the heart ofthe old town. The interior design is modern and tasteful. There is ahuge selection for breakfast and everyone is very welcoming. Ithoroughly recommend it.
