Review 1：The food (especially in the free self-service) is just average, mediocre and you need to pay 25$ each person and day (called privilege room) to obtain a little more. The rooms are almost the same but you can access to privilege beach area and bar/restaurant.

Review 3：Hoteliers aren't friendly, incompetent, not many of them speak/understand English. Wifi hardly work at any place at anytime including your bedroom Amenities aren't up to standard (fridge doesn't work, water runs out as you shower, toiletries supplies are insufficient) Foods aren't served at right temperature. Not enough variety of foods (same foods everyday)

Review 7：Only two negatives: 1) water/hot water was very little when there was high demand ( afternoon-early evening after everyone heads back from the beach to prepare for dinner). 2) in-room wifi was very poor, common area wifi only slightly better. Was able to do a google hangout/facetime, but spotty. Overall, lack of wifi was a good thing for our trip though :)

Review 8：Great service and hospitality from the second we checked in until the end. They even called to let us know about dinner reservations and called to correct a special dinner reservation that was included but that we'd unknowingly paid for. Didn't have to do that since they could have made more money. As soon as you arrive, they're prepared with drinks and our final day we were not leaving the area until 5 but checkout is noon. They had courtesy rooms available for showers/changing, and we checked out and then continued at the resort having drinks and swimming until right before we need to leave. It was great!

Review 12：The staff was so affable and willing to do anything to make your stay enjoyable. Before my visit, the guest relations staff emailed me to find out about my trip and why I was staying with them so they could help me make it special. Awesome! Anytime my fiancé and I stopped to take a picture, the staff would say, "Please, allow me." There was fruit and champagne waiting for us in our room and a "Happy Anniversary" banner across the door. The view from our room was just lovely. There were butterflies and birds all over and the hibiscus flowers were vibrant. The food was tasty and lots of variety in the buffet. We received a free dinner on the beach because we used Booking.com, and the view was gorgeous. What a treat! I would come back here in a heartbeat.

Review 13：Although we appreciated the free wi-fi, we found that it was inconsistent in some locations (but who should be spending time on the computer in that beautiful setting, right?)

Review 14：There is no wifi in the room. Staff are just dancing. And they disturb you anywhere and anytime in order to make you dance. Especially at nights in the bar. I guess they get commission per person that they convince to dance :) At nights, they just playing same song which we thought it is their national anthem:)" .the name of song is "lejos de ti" when staff listen it , they lose controll

Review 16：We tried many resort in Bayahibe area and Catalonia was far the best of them. Food, wifi free and cheap shops inside are what make the differrence. The staff was very helpfull, towel policy nice - not need the change with card, relax music on the beach, beach great with many tropical fisch, shells, octapus, etc.

Review 17：Very selective WiFi (even though it's free); Facebook barely worked (they had some sort of firewall against it). Terrible coffee at breakfast. Personnel too familiar at times (catcalling, handshaking with strangers). Cleaning ladies held loud conversations outside the door – impossible to rest. Slow receptionists. Terrible lounge chairs in the non-privileged beach section.

Review 18：Clean rooms. Great coffee at main bar, good drinks overall. The beach is absolutely beautiful, that much is true. Fantastic food at main restaurant – but sweet. About the privilege upgrade – we got one for free, just the room, without the perks; and that was very nice. But it's not worth the extra 25USD.

Review 19：The food!!! OMG, the food was awful! They definitively must improve the food services. No variety and no TASTE. The only restaurant that had the best taste was the Italian one.

Review 20：Loved the location, the beach is one of the best ones in the D.R.- As I am not a fan of big resorts, I truly enjoyed the proximity of everything. We stayed in the Honeymoon Suite located on top of the main building-walking to the beach, restaurants and pool was short and sweet walk! Loved it.

Review 21：The services were terrible. No wifi, even though they are claiming thereis wifi in the room. No hot water and horrible staff behaviour. Theycharged me for something what I didn't even order and I had to payit. This hotel is not worth of any money!!!

From the bar tenders remembering your name and your drink to the performance and hype time being the most friendliest of people! I love love to meet the general manager to let him now how amazing his staff is !!

Review 23：Just a few things to watch out for - you will be pressured to buy a timeshare. Say no right off the bat. The beach was great, but additionalactivities and excursions will each run you about 100 usd per person. Ihave seen some complaints about the WiFi, but it was fine for us (evenon the beach!).

Review 26：A friend and I booked a stay at Catalonia. I arrived 2 days ahead of her (thanks to American Airlines, but that is a different story!). The airport at La Romana is small, but effecient. I was through customs and in a taxi in about 10 minutes (including a bathroom break), The taxi ride was about 20 minutes. It then took only 10-15 minutes to check in which I thought was amazing as I have traveled to DR in the past (different towns) and have never had such quick check in. The only problem was when I got to the room and it was a king size bed instead of the 2 doubles I had requested. I called reception and they asked if I could stay in this room until my friend arrived and they would move us then. I agreed, on the day of the move, I asked how it was going to work and they said room transfers were at 3:00 PM. I called at 3, a bellboy came to my room with my new keys, took my luggage and showed me to my new room! I had time to unpack before meeting my friend at reception where her check in was smooth as well. So, how was everything else??? Well, we did pay the little bit extra for the privileged pass and it was definitely worth the money. You have rooms close to everything, your own area of the beach and even an open air restaurant to be served breakfast, lunch and dinner if you choose. The beach was lovely, we did take a walk and found some vendor huts set up, but never saw any vendors on the beach constantly asking you to buy things. All the food we had was good. We ate in all the specialty restaurants: steakhouse, caribbean restaurant and italian. I liked the carribean restaurant best, but all had good food. The buffet had a good selection of food and the food was hot too. All in all it was a great experience. I have stayed at other all-inclusives in the DR and this has been the best so far!

Review 33：Our only real criticism was the concierges, who we ended up having to avoid - Please don't tell me that you want to talk to me to tell me all about the hotel, when really all you want to do it try and sell me membership to your world wide group - this really was the only thing that let you down, especially when the concierges tell us that they get commission if we speak with them :-(

Review 34：Everything! Great welcome, very efficient at check in and helpful porter. Rooms really clean and well appointed, and the daily maids were very good and everything was stocked up. Fridge in room with soft drinks and local beer - all included in the price and stocked up daily. The restaurant was really good and there was something different on offer every day plus the two on site restaurants where we could dine at twice during our stay. Staff really friendly, although it was a bit bizzare that because we came from England everytime we saw one particular member of staff he said 'lovely jubley!' The beach was good, although watch out for the sand fleas, but I think that is just a Dominican Republic thing. There was a bar on the beach serving drinks and someone making pancakes. Fresh towels can be collected every day for both the pool and the beach. Nice pool suitable for all. There are a good selection of reasonably priced shops on site - you don't pay with money though, but with either credit card or charge your room, so easy to spend lots more than you intended. There is entertainment on site, it wasn't our thing and we didn't think the show that was put on was that good, but others seemed to enjoy it, so that is our personal taste. There is free wifi on site, but a bit hit and miss at times, but hey - it's free and you do get it eventually. All in all we'd highly recommend this place. Warning for travellers to the DR - if you have a hire car make sure when out and about you have your driving licence with you and hire car papers - the police are happy to have an excuse to ensure they don't have to arrest and inconvenience you in exchange for $ - read into that as you will, but drivers beware!

Review 41：Had a nice time at this hotel in Bayahibe. We chose this place so that we could take an excursion the Catalina Island which was good too. The hotel grounds are very nice and the beach is great. There are some nice fish to see around the bits of coral near the beach. The rooms are comfy and very clean.

Review 43：I loved everything about the place. The place, the food, the entertainment, the staff and servers, the rooms. We were treated like friends by everyone we cross paths with. The animation team was fantastic. We wanted to stay longer. Our experience was fabulous.

Review 44：up grade to privilage was oferred to us. We have accepted to it especially for late check out. But they offered it until 02.00 pm.after discussion with reception last day.They said it depends on availability.(not during check in). Second important point is all countries were represented here in the entrance of the resort by their national flag but unfortunately we did not see our flag along our 9 days staying even reminding them.

Review 46：The check in was very slow we waited 2 hours to be in the room . I book 1 full bed and 2 twin beds for the kids ,but I got 2 full beds. The only AC areas were in your own room and the American and Mexican Restaurants. Also those restaurants are not open every night . The excursions were very pricey. When we call for a bell boy to get our bags we waited 45 min .and we call again and finally he came . Pushing the time share was annoying too. The Wi -Fi was dropping la lot and in some places not working at all .

Review 76：My wife and I went here for our honey moon. Our two weeks at catalonia was absolutely amazing. I honestly can't understand how you can't give this place the best reviews. The food was excellent, the rooms nice and clean, the pool was nice and big with several different depths etc and the beach stunning. I would recommend this place to anyone!

Review 81：Some rooms/facilities need a renovation. Wi-Fi was not stable all the time. Not all staff members can speak English. The most annoying thing is - there are people, trying to convince you to buy a special offer (a kind of a time-share). It takes several days until they realize you will not buy it and stop begging for your attention every time they see you.

Review 83：ecologically - UNfriendly smoke smoggy hotel!!! As non smokers we are feeling deprived here as whereever we go we get smoked into the face and feel the smoky smog hanging all over the hotel. Why not at least allocating some non smoking areas? in the bar, at the reception (we cannot even approach the reception desk to ask a question!), walking paths, some beach areas (we have to leave the beach territory to relax on the beach facing the sea). Moreover, there is no separation between smoking and non-smoking villas (when I booked the hotel via booking.com there was a choice between smoking and non smoking – where is it?) Both smokers and non-smokers are placed next door so you cannot avoid breathing in the neighbours' smoke staying in your balcony or entering the room. PS Although our booking had a non-smoking status we are placed into the smoking sector without being informed; only after three weeks when we made a complain we got offered the only possible room with a non-smoking sign on it but situated in the most popular smoking area.

Review 97：The welcome is warm, they first ask where you come from so they know in which language to communicate. It was awesome to notice one staff member communicate in fluent German with anothe couple. We were easy since Spanish, English and Dutch are fluently dominated; so we went ahead in Spanish. The Junior sweet was very nice, the garden is neat, very green. The food is good, each night a theme. Also well served and presented buffet. The staff is hard working... they work long hours and yet a smile and remain friendly. Amazing. One particular staff member by the name Omar is very very friendly and professional. He nicknamed us Angelina and Brad Pitt. Please send him our regards :)
