Reviews for SH Villa Gadea
Review 1:we didn't have a television with a HMDI port so that we could watch british television , we were moved to another room with a better tv which we didn't mind
Review 2:I liked the position , the cleaner was a very nice person ,and your desk staff were very very polite and helpful , we had a problem with the glass door in the bathroom it was hanging on one hinge , very dangerous but the engineer came and took it off the wall, unfortunately we had to go home a day earlier , so we lost money but that was not to be helped .
Review 3:Restaurant - breakfast food very good - salads excellent but warm food section was Luke warm, served on cold plates. No entertainment - no entertainment in the bar.
Review 4:Room-view-room service-all staff were helpful and friendly-
Review 5:The friendliness and professional attitude of the staff. They were all very helpful and very discreet. The room was very comfortable and well serviced.
Review 6:The spa's steam bath was out of service
Review 7:Excellent room and great sea view from a spacious balcony. Dinner was delicious, beautifully presented and well priced. Breakfast catered for every taste. The spa was fun.
Review 8:We stayed here mid- November so was off season and very quiet and lots of the facilities weren't open. Will need to return in the summer to see it in full swing!
Review 9:Beautiful hotel and fantastic staff. Will definitely be back.
Review 10:Price of drinks a little excessive. We would have stayed in the hotel bar more instead of going out for gin and tonic at half the price.
Review 11:Spacious room with excellent facilities, marvelous views. jacuzzi bath. one night stay in November. Hotel nice and quiet. paid for breakfast and evening meal in advance. No buffet available for dinner at this time of year but the restaurant for dinner was top notch. The sirloin steak was one of the best we´d ever had.
Review 12:A little out of town, need to drive to get to most places, or it's rather a long walk.
Review 13:Breakfast was excellent. Room was pleasant, and bed comfy. Lovely pool and grounds. Nice walks along the seafront.
Review 14:Our bath was very dangerous. glass unstable wall on edge which you need to hold to reach in to adjust the water temp. the silver caps on the bottom of tub popped off and my mum stepped on the sharp underside as she tried to get out. I would see that whole situation as a huge liability if I were a hotelier. Luckily we did not have small children that would grab the glass wall perhaps.
Review 15:The breakfast and staff were so nice and well done! The pool was nice. Sushi Rest was amazing!
Review 16:Unfortunately the spa. You are asked to book which is fine but it seemed that there was no control and it was really busy and we ended up using the outside as the water inside was cloudy with floating pieces. Came back to the room and used the spa bath, this was really noisey so had to turn off. There was a residue left in the bath which summed up how dirty the spa was as we came straight from there to the spa bath.
Review 17:The staff were very friendly. The hotel and grounds very clean and welcoming. The food (just had the breakfast) best I have had and the choice amazing.
Review 18:One pool out of three supposed to be heated but it wasn't. Beds not very comfortable, pillows were terrible. Buffet although a big choice was much the same for breakfast as it was for dinner and got a bit boring.
Review 19:Grounds very nice, Sea view rooms quite spacious, Bar very comfortable, Staff helpful.
Review 20:Television facility very poor. Carpets in corridors need cleaning lots of stain Room service poor Al a carte restaurant very poor quality Definitely not five star rating
Review 21:A Japanese convention was allowed to be loud and rowdy until for 2 nights running, keeping the people above their party room (US!) awake until 1am! Had we wanted to stay in a hotel where shouting, singing and loud music into the early hours were the norm, we could have stayed in Benidorm for a lot less money.
Review 22:Lovely hotel with fantastic pools and great breakfast.
Review 23:The staff in the dining room more interested in clearing up than serving tea and coffee at breakfast and glum waitress. No English TV - very unhappy about that. Expensive for what you get.
Review 24:The bedroom and bathroom - the maids did a good job. Jacuzzi needs proper clean though - dirt in filters.
Review 25:Limited choice of eating venues within the hotel, sometimes only one of the three indoor restaurants open, outside restaurant closed in evenings, and pool bar did not serve any food, so had to resort to 'secreting' breakfast snacks in our bags for lunch around pool. Reception staff unhelpful - gained all our local knowledge from other guests in the hotel.
Review 26:Luxurious hotel, 3 lovely swimming pools, great location if you have a car in a lovely area. Buffet breakfast was wonderful, with friendly service. Free parking always available at hotel entrance.
Review 27:The biggest disappointment is the sea. It's fine to go in, so long as you don't mind the seaweed as there's a lot of it. Beach is very close to hotel, but pebbley and not sandy. There are many better beaches around elsewhere. Also food is pricey in hotel as you would probably expect, and it's a good few kilometres away from Altea town centre.
Review 28:Lovely hotel. Nice staff. Pool area fabulous. Breakfast great. We went with small children in September - very quiet during the week. 3 weddings at the weekend, but even that didn't feel overcrowded. We got a free car parking spot for all 6 days we were there.
Review 29:When booking and paying for late checkout bed was not made that day and room not cleaned that morning and towels not replaced
Review 30:Absolutely superb couldn't have asked for more - amazing facilities and customer service was outstanding
Review 31:With regards to the internal decoration, the hotel was showing signs that it was starting to get tired and dated.
Review 32:The location was ideal for using as a base as we toured the area looking for a villa to buy.
Review 33:Need more bar staff , pool bar could do snacks ,breakfast can be very chaotic , food is average ,would expect better for a 5 star hotel
Review 34:Location ,views looking over the pool and sea ,nice bar ,
Review 35:We had requested Superior double room, "Upper-storey room, double bed, Sea View, Balcony" The room we were first assigned was on Ground floor, with a balcony, but no sea view. There had been no "discussion" at reception so we assumed that our requests were accommodated. On examining the allocated room we returned to reception and subsequently were moved to an upper floor room. This should have been addressed initially, without the inconvenience of having to revisit reception. Also, the sofa in the room was setup as 3rd bed and the porter said that the staff would dismantle it. However, it wasn't done and I did it myself later that evening. It was not difficult, but in 5 star facility, one expects better service and attention to guest's requests / needs. In general, staff were very pleasant and helpful. The location and facilities were great, the food was wonderful, with great variety of choices and we had a very enjoyable stay.
Review 36:Location,layout,facilities, food and ambience.
Review 37:Old and small tv in the room. The rooms on the back side have view on the N-332 road, along which the hotel is located, and the lateral rooms, although not facing the road, still have traffic noice, not acceptable for a 5-star hotel.
Review 38:Restaurants (including breakfast-buffet) were excellent, high quality food and well organized. Nice pools. We upgraded the room to sea view, beautiful views and quiet.
Review 39:The swimming pools were very cold and one should have been heated Autumn to Spring. No English TV channels other than Sky News and Fox News. Wifi, although free, continually dropped out and emails could not be received.
Review 40:Nice room with beautiful view. Breakfast was very good with plenty of choice. Attentive staff.
Review 41:Localization is a tragedy: no sea and beach, far away from any civilization. Rooms are hotel rooms, so small, dark and depressing. There are pools, but no playground for children. Generally not for families with young babies.
Review 42:5 stars are 5 stars. But it's all. Personnel is awesome, but it's not for families.
Review 43:No...cannot think of anything we did not like!
Review 44:Staff very friendly and attentive. Excellent accommodation. It was our wedding anniversary and we were made to feel special.
Review 45:This is an excellent hotel! The incredible view from our room made our stay perfect. We really enjoyed being able to have breakfast up on the balcony in the morning. It was also nice and peaceful but had a lovely atmosphere. All the staff were incredibly friendly.
Review 46:The prices of everything from the meals and drinks to the spa were exorbitant . We ate and drank out of the hotel. Everyone else appeared to be doing the same as the bars and restaurants were virtually empty
Review 47:The pool and the views and grounds
Review 48:Everything about hotel was very good. Staff, breakfast, decor location etc. We will be back soon . Also a nice touch by manager left us Cava and chocolates in our room as it Was our 40th wedding anniversary Little things like that help to make a nice memory . I would highly recommend this Hotel. Ps while your there make sure you visit the old town In Altea ,
Review 49:location isn't great, need car or taxi to get to the village, also not suitable for long walks or running
Review 50:Excellent five-star facilities, great restaurant by the pool
Review 51:Little bit far out of Altea.
Review 52:Pools were great and staff were mostly really helpful. Very clean. Great restaurants on the beach below not part of the complex.
Review 53:We upgraded to a room with a hot tub on the terrace but in actual fact it was nothing more than a bath and wouldnt have fitted 2 people in & not very private. Also we went for a relaxing break but the hotel was full of families and no zone was allocated around the pool for adults only or a "quiet area".
Review 54:The staff were all very helpful & friendly
Review 55:See-view room terrase and window are just looking at a cafe in which there were night music and shows too loud till at least 1am. No so comfortable if someone tries to fall asleep.
Review 56:Checkout is busy..book a bellboy in advance If you have a lot of suitcases.
Review 57:Returning for a longer stay - great staff, location, facilities and pools made for a great holiday
Review 58:Room was a bit small for a 5 star but then this is how hotels are in Spain (I know because I am from Spain!). In all hotels of this category where I have stayed (usually abroad) they provide free mineral water, iron board and iron, kettle with tea and coffee. Location was not the best, need to drive into town (road very busy in August), free parking very limited. Nearby beach is a stone beach, you have to go in the water with footwear otherwise you damage your feet. Breakfast restaurant is crowded in the peak season.
Review 59:Great hotel, nice swimming pool area, helpful staff.
Review 60:We didn't dislike anything really. Everything was just great.
Review 61:Beautiful and large pool area. Superior rooms have a great sea view. Staff very welcoming and helpful. Kids Club offer activities for kids all day and some evenings. Breakfast was great, but rather busy after 0900. A bit out of town (Altea) so would recommend to have a car. Free parking available around the hotel and we had no problems finding a free space.
Review 62:Basic room is not five star standard. No pool service (drinks ect). we were left to find our own way to our room. Maybe this hotel is four star plus. But we will be going back.
Review 63:Friendly professional staff. General ambiance of the hotel. Breakfast very good.
Review 64:nothing
Review 65:Loved the pool area and variety of food, we had breakfast and evening meal, the staff were very good and nothing was too much trouble. lovely spacious room and a very large and very clean bathroom.
Review 66:This is the 9th time I have stayed and part from a problem with the sunbeds about 2 years ago, can not fault this beautiful hotel in Altea. I watched it being built.
Review 67:The beds are still to hard, but not as hard as other hotels in Spain.
Review 68:Swimming pool area are very very nice. Its one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in
Review 69:Reception kept telling us that the room we were staying in wasn't occupied and we subsequently had issues the following morning at breakfast where the manager kept telling us we were not down on the list. However the hotel did leave us some chocolates and cava in the room to apologise for the confusion. Also worth beaing in mind that the children's club was only open on the weekend and only one of the 3 restaurants was open at any time in the evening.
Review 70:The room and facilities that were open were great. Pricing for June was competitive and very good value. I would class this hotel as an extremely high end 4 star rather than 5 star.
Review 71:Nothing to complain about. Maybe a little further out of Altea town but we had a car and a very reasonable taxi fare to town.
Review 72:Everything was fabulous, staff, facilities, just perfect.
Review 73:Requested a double bed and was provided with a room with two single beds, which were very, very hard. I would have expected high quality pocket sprung beds in a 5* hotel to match the quality of the rest of the hotel's facilities
Review 74:If anything we thought meal prices were sort of expensive. However this would reflect the high standard of food produced
Review 75:Basically everything!!! 99%
Review 76:The bed was very, very bad. We are a young couple staying for 3 days and we got 2 small beds. Apart fro being to separate beds, the beds was very small and thin, and it has wheels on it that makes the very unstable and uncomfortable .
Review 77:Excellent location and facilities.
Review 78:For a five star hotel I would have expected a better quality toilet paper.
Review 79:Our superior room was well situated with lovely views over the beautiful gardens, pools and sea. The staff were friendly and helpful throughout the hotel. Breakfast was beautifully laid out as a buffet and had plenty of variety for all tastes.
Review 80:11 Euros per day for car parking seemed excessive.
Review 81:Staff were very polite and helpful. Comfortable, spacious room on the second floor with a good view over the pool area to the sea. Good choice of food at breakfast.
Review 82:NOTHING
Review 83:Very helpful and pleasant staff at the front desk. The pool area is perfect and enjoyed the lobby bar. Attik makes the best Gin & Tonics. Great room with a view of the pool area, comfortable bed and pillows Plentiful breakfast buffet. All was very enjoyable!!!
Review 84:Only criticism the food in the Buffet Restaurant for dinner was way overpriced for the quality. Also red wine at €7 a glass is exorbitant for a buffet restaurant. Wifi variable in room.
Review 85:Great ambience, excellent staff. Lovely grounds. Well designed bedrooms with comfortable beds and quiet!
Review 86:WiFi network is very poor all over the hotel. Breakfast is overpriced for what you get and extras including bacon and sausage is another charge on top! Hotel is too far from Altea. It's a good 35-45 minute walk on a main road with virtually no pavement or 20 euro return journey! No kettle in the room to warm up the babies bottle the one we eventually did get didn't work!
Review 87:Lovely picturesque seaside setting. Nice pools and gardens, la palapa and the pool bar do the best mojitos. Staff were friendly and helpful.
Review 88:Would have liked a snack type restaurant in the evening but we stayed early in the season. The pool side restaurant is likely to be open when there are more guests. Main restaurants superb!
Review 89:Very helpful staff. Accommodation first class.
Review 90:Beds on wheels a disaster Could do with painting on balconies Beds awful Beds terrible
Review 91:Staff so friendly and helpful Japanese restaurant Overall ambience Lobby and coffee bar
Review 92:Quiet location. Only a couple of walkable restaurants BUT old town is only €8 in a taxi or Marina also €8 with nice restaurants and a couple of trendy bars. The taxi from Alicante airport is €90
Review 93:Nice hotel. Friendly staff. Huge breakfast selection. 3 different pools with pool bar. Lovely rooms. Had lovely break.
Review 94:No fruit smoothies for breakfast Nothing on metal loungers by pool- uncomfortable No info on local surroundings
Review 95:Being near the sea, walks along prom large room. Jacuzzi bath
Review 96:There was no tea and coffee makers in the room so had to go to the bar for a hot drink. The heating was hit and miss so at 5pm it was cold.
Review 97:Staff were very helpful, the location is quiet , the hotel and rooms are clean and the gardens are very pleasant.
Review 98:The television channels were a poor selection, and was small for the room. We were unable to eat in the restaurant as it was fully booked.
Review 99:The staff were very helpful and always pleasant. Facilities first rate and beautiful location.
Review 100:The hotel was almost totally taken over by a cycling club and the facilities were reserved en masse for them. Other people were pushed to the side in the breakfast and dining area. Also, the wifi for a 5* hotel is not adequate.
Review 101:Ambience of the hotel is very good
Review 102:Wifi not the greatest Room was a bit dusty - but it is the quiet season
Review 103:Friendly staff Amazing sunset/ sunrise from room Breakfast was ample Shower was great and powerful Spa was ok too Overall a nice place
Review 104:the outdoor pools were absolutely baltic - expected more from a 5 star hotel. no real lunch or dining options - only a Japanese resteraunt. Taxi required to eat every night
Review 105:all good. breakfast excellent
Review 106:The wi-fi system the hotel operates is very tedious and it didn't work in our bedroom. Breakfast and dinner was poor and the restaurant staff were inefficient, bordering on rude.
Review 107:The accommodation, facilities and location are excellent. The staff on reception are welcoming and helpful.
Review 108:Felt like a ghost town in november. Too big if not filled. We wanted to eat japanese but as it was a wednesday it was shut. In the end we found a better japanese restaurant 500 metres down the road! a must if you go to Altea
Review 109:Spacious and comfortable with great views if you have a balcony with view on the sea.
Review 110:Spa wasn't included in price felt a bit stupid getting ready only to discover not in the price. No curtesy taxi into Altea would have loved a kettle to make a tea or coffee
Review 111:Welcome by staff helped with bag. Receptionist very helpful nothing too much bother, gave me information about trains nearby. Staff there when you needed them but unintrusive.Very helpful at breakfast& called me a taxi leaving, would have loved another night rec this hotel to anyone paradise
Review 112:roof leak in main reception long term, still not fixed. wine menu certain choices unavailable. Hotel now being used by tour operators, are we subsidising them ? would question whether this is still a five star hotel
Review 113:food - rooms
Review 114:The staff were so good to us.They remembered us from our first visit. They were so accommodating for cots for our twin boys.they were the most comfortable travel cots we had ever come across. The hotel is very child friendly. It was so wonderful to go back to the beautiful hotel and create more fabulous memories.
Review 115:the price because iam a saga member and i did not know this was a saga hotel the price i paid was for just breakfast i could have done it for less plus i would have been all inclusive. the stardard of the hotel no problem
Review 116:food was good a wide selection to suit different people and children the property is very clean and staff helpful
Review 117:People on the Saga holidays had a much more inexpensive deal - I.e. All inclusive. On our first night of two nights we found one of the batr staff very rude - he questioned us asking for post dinner brandies believing we were Saga quests and therefore not entitled. Even Saha guests shouldn't be addressed On such a rude manner. If you are going to this hotel and are over 50, check out the Saga deals.
Review 118:The hotel was lovely and we were very pleased to get an grade. We already have an apartment in Denia but wanted to be spoiled for a few days. The girl cooking breakfast was delightful as was the Maître D' in the buffet restaurant.
Review 119:Hotel a little distant from town/shop, taxi or car hire required. Beach behind hotel was a pebble one.
Review 120:Beautiful rooms & Bathroom, pool area fabulous, lovely cafe on beach at rear of hotel, excellent breakfast. Nearby Altea seafront and Old Town wonderful. Lovely.
Review 121:The hot tubs on the room terrace should have "grab Handles" for older and disabled clients to pull themselves up out of the hot tub. I hope the hotel management can fit the handles to some of the De Lux rooms
Review 122:Staff,food,room,facilities all 5 star and excellent We shall definitely revisit as one of the best 5 star hotels we have stayed in in Spain
Review 123:We have visited this hotel 4 times over the past four years and have never been dissapointed. We would like to thank all of the staff for all there hard work
Review 124:Cannot think of anything negative. We knew for us it would be a bit of a treat and not cheap...but you pay for the surroundings and a 4/5 star hotel facilities. shame you had to pay to use spa :-)
Review 125:Stayed with my two children and husband and met with my sister brother in law and baby niece. This was the end of our holiday in spain and what a perfect way of ending it! Two comfortable nights. Spacious rooms, children lived the jacuzzi bath. Great pool facilities. Buffet breakfast was so good, wide choice and availability and included in our price of stay. We also ate lunch on one day and dinner the other...again buffet style (29 euros for each adult and 15 child for dinner). Got a cab into Altea which was a really pleasant place to visit (old town) cost around 10 euro for a cab one way in evening. Plenty of sunbeds and people monitoring all the time (you cannot reserve). 5min to the beach, entrance at the back of hotel. Really perfect stay for two nights to end our self catering apartment break. Would definitely recommend and booking via booking.com is the way to go! I contacted booking.com and hotel about something before i went and both very efficient. Staff good and check out/In smooth.
Review 126:Evening good was limited and smaller portions not available for children which resulted in wasted food and a higher bill.
Review 127:The pools were great for our two children with plenty of space and two further pools to satisfy even radiant swimmers.
Review 128:Food was acceptable at dinner, but could have been better. To be fair, they had a full hotel to cope with as it was August. Quite canteen like for a 5 star hotel. Because it was school holiday time, it was very difficult to find an unoccupied sunbed. We finally put the towels on the grass near the tennis courts where it was quiet.
Review 129:Luxury accomodation, spa, surroundings. Breakfast was good, huge range and easy to have exactly what you like.
Review 130:Having to pay if you wanted to use the spa, we were shouted very angrily at by a Spanish family who were accusing us of stealing their sunbeds. Not the case as towels are removed by lifeguards if no one is sitting on them. The Spanish family were very abuseive to us to the point I cried. No lifeguard came to explain that the hotel had removed their towels not us. For a five star hotel it was very bad. We just wanted to go in the spa and having paid 175€ for one night think that it should be free!
Review 131:The pool was lovely, the rooms lovely, staff lovely and food great
Review 132:The hairdryer in the bathroom is not very good.
Review 133:I liked everything really, the spacious rooms, the sea view, the lovely pools, even though the hotel was full it was quiet and there was lots of space. The Japanese restaurant is wonderful and there is a great spa.
Review 134:- A bit far from Altea (Taxis costs 8 eur to the Hotel)
Review 135:+ Nice and cosy rooms with views+ Frienly staff + Large bathroom + Good restaurants (the Japanese restaurant is a must!) + Good breakfast
Review 136:the beach public park/ beach is not as nice as others in the area...we had a car so we drove to other beaches for jet skiing etc.
Review 137:the pool area is amazing and there is a little cafe on the water/beach un related to the hotel I think, that serves awesome dinner for an affordable price. The promanade is near by, great places to eat\.
Review 138:No hair conditioner in bathrooms. Petty I know but they do everything else so well and even provide dental floss that I can't understand the lack of conditioner!
Review 139:Staff very helpful and friendly. Food excellent and great variety. Pools excellent with lots of sun beds.
Review 140:- It's a bit secluded from the village of Altea - The WiFi was really terrible, if it was working. Especially for a hotel claiming to be a five-star hotel, a properly working WiFi, with decent available bandwidth is a must.
Review 141:- Friendly staff, always ready to help. - Whole of the hotel very clean - Great place to spend vacation with children.
