Reviews for Hotel Castilla

Review 1:The only time I felt welcome in the hotel was when I was leaving. The receptionist I encountered most was in no way warm or friendly and only managed to muster a hint of civility was when I paid and left. There was a younger receptionist who was friendly and pleasant but I only encountered him once. The hotel is not well soundproofed and thus noisy. (you can hear other residents snoring, talking, walking, opening and closing doors, text message alerts, everything, The walls are so thin it's hard to believe someone thought it would work as a hotel. It is also pretty warm (much warmer than outside) although there is a fan on the roof which does seem to cool the room down but needs to be left in if you want to stay cool. I have previously stayed at a four star Hotel in Gijon, the staff were very polite and always treated my with respect, it was a little more expensive but infinitely more pleasant than Hotel Castilla, I would urge anyone to avoid paying over the odds for a stay in Hotel Castilla. There are definitely nicer places to stay in the area and with it's only selling points its location and decent bathroom facilities it's better avoided.

Review 2:The hotel is in a central location. Clean and tidy with instant hot water and good bathroom facilities.

Review 3:A person in the staff at the reception did not speak English at all. This is not so bad, as it is the case in most hotels in this region, but the thing is this personncould not care less. No efforts to be welcoming or smily. The room was neither particilarly good (small, no View, a little humid) nor terribly bad (clean, comfy, wifi). The location is the only thing that was very nice

Review 4:Lacked air con. It was quite hot to sleep in.

Review 5:Staff were very helpful and polite and allowed us to store bags etc. The location was very central and convenient for our needs. The room was clean and comfortable.

Review 6:It states that there is car parking nearby but it doesn't tell you where. We parked on the street and then got told that we would get clamped so had to move it. Driving around the area is not easy! There is an underground car park directly in front of the hotel that you should park in denotes by the blue 'P'. Take a ticket and park overnight. Ask reception to give you a slip of paper to state that you stayed at the hotel. Then when you leave the next day go to the ground floor of the car park where the attendant is and give him the paper. It will then only cost you €10 instead of €16.

Review 7:The wifi signal was not very strong in our room. The first night there was an extra bed in our (double) room which made it quite small. It was removed the following morning and made the room a decent size double.

Review 8:Very good value for money.

Review 14:Wonderful staff, spotless room, super location to explore Gijon.

Review 15:Being on the Corrida especially on a public holiday meant a lot of noisy action in the street below

Review 16:Being on the Corrida which leads right down to the marina and the historic buildings within a ten minute walk

Review 17:people staying in the hotel were very noisy keeping us awake until about 3 am a number of women talking in their bedroom very loudly I complained next morning and manager said there were a number of complaints that night but they should have taken action

Review 18:excellent location, good staff room was fine

Review 19:The rooms are stuffy and noisy expensive for what you would expect. Many hotels in the camino del norte gave double the quality compared to this one.

Review 20:Arrived at the hotel Castilla, It is well located albeit a little dark. The room has a window facing an interior patio. Noisy conversations from other room, showering etc. distracting. Internet does not work in the room. No air-condition, fan very noisy.

Review 21:WiFi was dodgy but I was eventually able to connect.

Review 22:Has all the essentials you want/need in budget accommodation. Central to everything. I would stay again. Thanks.

Review 55:Nothing...

Review 56:It is located in the city centre. You can reach everything by walking. The room was nice and clean. The staff was quite nice, too. they tried to help with everything we asked them.

Review 57:Would be nice to have one english TV channel.

Review 58:The hotel is in a central location for sightseeing and shopping and the undeground carpark is only 50 m away. The hotel has an elevator and the security is outstanding. Breakfast is good and the value for money is excellent.

Review 59:-reception at 1-st floor:anytime you came home,you must "stop"at 1-st,say "hallo",and go further

Review 60:-parking nearby(10euro/day) -in the city center- -close to the main objectives and to the beach(10-15min) -on the shopping area(even a supermarket is nearby)

Review 61:although budget friendly it is still overpriced for what it is; i.e. tiny rooms overlooking the inner yard and with furniture of the last century. We paid €65, whereas the fair price for the hotel is max €50 in my opinion.

Review 62:central location, clean

Review 63:Very close to car park at a rate of 10 euros per day felt it was good value rather than road parking

Review 64:Difficult to find

Review 65:Nearby parking with a concession from the hotel
