Reviews for Diplomatic Hotel
Review 1:I was hoping for more local flavor at this hotel but I don't know if that is a fair criticism :).
Review 2:The location was excellent and facilities were very clean and new. Our bedroom was huge as was the bed.
Review 3:Some small details not up to the level expected in a 5 star hotel. WC in our room not working properly.
Review 4:Staff was amazing. Nice heated pool and very good breakfast.
Review 5:Staff/service in bar restaurant, not so 5 star-ish. 20 minutes wait for an espresso and a cold creme brulée when the only guest in the restaurant !!!
Review 6:The location and the very stylish building.
Review 7:Internet service is not100% reliable in room.
Review 8:Staff is professional and always ready to help and advise everyone is bilingual (English - Spanish). Hotel's location is perfect surrounding with bar and great restaurans. You easily can walk or take taxi which is very affordable to any other part of the city. During ciesta spend time in outdoor pool in the hotel and start even8ng wich late afternoon glass of wine in hotels restaurant.
Review 9:Just the wardrobes.
Review 10:Everything is really good at this hotel, wardrobes being the only drawback I found (too small). One good thing I did not see anywhere while researching this hotel previously to my stay is the fact that it features a heated pool, what really makes difference in a city like Mendoza.
Review 11:everything wonderful
Review 12:The entire staff was fantastic but the most outstanding individual we met was Mr. Rodriguez, consierge. He was absolutely fantastic. He set our tours up of the best wineries and reservations for fine dining locations through out Mendoza. He was wonderful. The hotel was a little dated but very nice. The breakfast was outstanding and plentiful. The free glass of wine everyday at 7pm was also very nice.
Review 13:nothing on the visit was bad :):)
Review 14:very friendly and attentive staff quick service and deal with any quires well, the hotel has a very good breakfast and the room service was excellent when i was there , have been there once before and would happily stay again given the chance , some of the rooms have also been renovated from my last time there
Review 15:Nothing I can remember...
Review 16:The service at the hotel was extremely good which showed the efficiency of the staff. Staff was very cordial and the cleanliness of the hotel was fabulous... lovers my 2 night stay at Diplomatic...
Review 17:From the day we arrived we found the staff to be unhelpful, uninterested and at times rude, the concierge (when present) was smirking when I was communicating with him for no apparent reason. My assumption was that he appeared to be laughing at my Spanish. The wifi came and went and the room left a lot to be desired with a cracked sink, flooding shower and a zipped together bed which was at two different heights. Comparably to other five star hotels this one is rather disappointing and definitely not value for money.
Review 18:The breakfast was extensive and the location ideal.
Review 19:I am grasping here trying to think of something. I guess we could have used a second luggage rack.
Review 20:The staff was great from the front desk at an early check-in to housekeeping to the waitstaff at the amazing breakfast or afternoon tea. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The view of the mountains was breathtaking. The location to everything was perfect and usually allowed us to walk around Mendoza.
Review 21:Background music during breakfast and in lobby is horrible. Not typical 5 Star Hotel, service more like 4 star hotel.
Review 22:Big rooms, very nice bed and breakfast. Perfect location. Beautiful lobby.
Review 23:wifi poor. Problem with ordering gin and tonic because they had no gin. I complained to the management that this was unacceptable in their class of hotel. Problem put right by bar supervisor by going out and buying some! I respect them for that.
Review 24:only there for one night but room was good, restaurant dinner was good and staff efficient
Review 25:Very attentive staff. Both on the hotel and the dining sides. I highly recommend this hotel. Somewhat small rooms but clean. For an older hotel it is maintained in very good condition. The morning breakfast was very good compared to usa hptels. Would recommend this to anyone.
Review 26:The dinner menu is limited and the prices rather high. But presentation and service are very good!
Review 27:Helpful, friendly staff and lovely decor in the public spaces made my stay special. The free daily wine tasting is a nice touch.
Review 28:Internet did not work on our floor for 3 of the 4 days we were there and was only fixed in last day.
Review 29:Perfect location, friendly staff, quiet room, good gym, great breakfast. Would stay again without hesitation.
Review 30:We checked in late and were given a room with someone asleep in the bed. The reception staff soon gave us another room but didn't seem too concerned. Bar lunch was excruciatingly slow. Almost an hour for a sandwich and pot of tea. When it arrived it was without a knife and fork. That took another five minutes. When I complained to the restaurant manager I was told rudely that they were very busy and I would just have to wait. They weren't busy but you could see that the staff, though willing, lacked training.
Review 31:Huge, modern, comfortable room with top level bathroom. Perfect location for restaurants
Review 32:Bathroom was not so good. Shower leaked. No hair dryer in the room ( though it was provided on request.m
Review 33:The hotel gym is good. Martin (concierge) organised a great visit to vineyards with private car and fantastic lunch.
Review 34:We loved that this was located at the center of town, easy walking distance from plazas, parks, and restaurants. A great base for exploring Mendoza. The room was comfortable and clean!
Review 35:Laundry was really expensive, so if you can, get it done at a local place outside the hotel.
Review 36:The hotel is beautiful! The room was very spacious and comfortable, and the facilities were great. Mendoza is a pretty small city, and the hotel is well-located on the nicer side of town.
Review 37:Nothing
Review 38:The staff was super helpful and helped us everytime we needed, above expectations. Room was very big and bright. We checked the Hyatt Park too because it looked beautiful from the inside, but the Diplomatic is much classier on the inside.
Review 39:For this price point, the expected quality just wasn't there - plaster from our room fell off, bathroom handle fell off, toilet needed to be unblocked everyday, no hot water for an hour the morning that we needed to quickly get ready, bathroom smelt funny, card reader didn't work in the lift and room half the time
Review 40:Location was good, within short walking distance of bars and restaurants, room nicely furnished and mountain view from our room on L17 was beautiful, probably one of the best views from Mendoza city.
Review 41:The SPA is separate from the Hotel. I can not and will not recommend the SPA services. We were not informed that they are a separate facility, you need to pay the SPA services and can not change to the Hotel. We had reservations made weeks in advance and they wanted to change the times to accommodate their schedule. The service of some people were good; however, other people working at the SPA were not pleasant. They seemed unorganized, must pay them, No Change to the Hotel, etc.
Review 42:I recommend the Hotel, Personnel, Staff, Concierge, Location, etc. The Hotel and the facilities are excellent.
Review 43:rooms could do with an update décor and design room service could be quicker and be a more full menu
Review 44:warm swimming pool polite and very helpful front desk lovely old building very generous breakfast buffet views from corner rooms are excellent you can see the city and the mountains location easy each for centre and many restaurants and bars
Review 45:Staff was nice, but not as helpful as in some other places. Concierge was rarely on duty, so we made winery and other excursion plans on our own (be sure to go with PotrerillosExplorer for activites - Mario and Johanna are the best!) This hotel caters more to Argentines and Europeans - Americans may be better served to stay at the Park Hyatt, which is also wonderful
Review 46:This is a beautiful hotel located in the heart of Mendoza, with a number of top restaurants within 1-2 blocks. It was a relaxing and luxurious retreat in Mendoza after spending a week in B.A. and Patagonia. Nice bed, great shower and great wireless internet. Also the best breakfast we had in two weeks of Argentina travel. A little pricey but well worth it.
Review 47:the rooms are getting close to needing a re design compared to other hotels space could be used better , begrano is a lovely street but at night be wary of going into areas that have bad street lighting
Review 48:views from rooms, swimming is not heated but because of the sun and little depth is usually warm, generous breakfast with high quality and fresh items, friendly and helpful front desk relaxed atmosphere , within walking distance of good restaurants and bars
Review 49:I did not receive the room I booked, and although the front of the hotel and the lobby lead you to believe it is a 5 star hotel, the room itself is far from it.
Review 50:Good location and the staff was helpful and friendly
Review 51:Unfortunately the concierge must have been having some bad days. He madeus feel like we were bothering him and a bit stupid. We wanted toarrange tours and things to do, which he did help us with, but it justfelt like an inconvenience. He didn't smile once in the five days wewere there! Must have been having a bad week!
Review 52:Loved the location of the hotel. The staff, (all but one), were veryprofessional, sharply dressed, and polite. See below comments. The hotelwas clean and the food was great.
Review 53:Only thing I could fault it on was perhaps the showers need updating as they looked a little old. Everything else was perfect!
Review 54:Beautiful hotel, excellent location and fantastic service from the staff!! Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to visit Mendoza.
Review 55:Room was damp and smelled like someone's gym bag that had been left for a week unwashed. They'd had problem with the buenos aires floods.
Review 56:Staff were very nice and location was good.
Review 57:Doorman was a bit snooty
Review 58:Beautiful hotel. Good bed room with lots of room. Breakfast was plentiful with a wide range of foods available for any specific diet.
Review 59:Location - downtown Mendoza Confortable rooms Possible book tour with concierge Breakfast very good for argentinian standards( what means too much sweets but OK)
Review 60:For reasons unclear, the hotel was packed with kids which seemed unusual to us as it is such a high end hotel.
Review 61:We spent 3 nights in this lovely hotel, with great facilities and very accommodating staff. Good breakfast selection, with options for coeliacs which was nice. Good location, right near the shops and restaurants. Really enjoyed our stay here.
Review 62:The staff is well trained and is committed to help you whatever you ask for or might need.Great hotel to be and you are in walking distance to the city center as well as the main street for restaurants, pubs and bars.
Review 63:At times the cleanliness of the room and the towels were not at the level of a 5 star hotel.
Review 64:The central location, excellent one of the best in our trip, the look of the hotel.
Review 65:Only thing I can think of is that more hot options for breakfast would be nice - need a big meal before a day of wine tasting.
Review 66:Room was huge! Bed was also very large and very comfortable. Tea service in the lounge was very nice and room service was good. Staff very friendly and helpful. Amazing value (though that may be more due to fx rate during our stay).
Review 67:The rain .
Review 68:The staff, starting with the great "Martin" ,Alejandro and Rosario.,they made our (2) stays a pleasure.
