Reviews for Hotel Rural Villa Agüimes
Review 1:Some of the lights didn't work, and with tall ceilings and only a double door for light it got quite dark!
Review 2:Excellent staff, great characterful rooms, free WiFi was great. Excellent little town too!
Review 3:The check in is made in a nearby building. It was written in the instructions, but it would not have been bad to emphasize it a bit more.
Review 4:Old building in the center of town. The room was comfortable and sleeping was great. There are even windows shutters to avoid light in the morning.
Review 5:Unfortunately we had a terrible nights sleep as it was New Years Eve. There was club dance music blaring in the square from 11.30pm to 6am in the morning!! We chose to stay in Aguimes as we thought it would be quiet on NYE. We were very wrong! You have to walk up the road to the main hotel for breakfast. We had to make an early start to catch the bus, so arrived at 8am when they were due to open, but were left waiting outside for 20 minutes as nobody was around to let us in.
Review 6:Aguimes is a lovely place. Probably our favourite place so far in Gran Canaria. Lots of choice at breakfast and comfy beds.
Review 7:We were upgraded to the attractive main hotel (I think an extended old Canarian mansion built around a central garden) which has pleasant rooms with wooden floors. Both hotels are close to the main square and Basilica in the unspoilt and partly restored old Canarian hill town of Aguimes - we encountered a guide bringing his small group to see our hotel and street. The receptionist was helpful. Friday evening became lively as more Tapas bars opened and we had a decent good value meal in a bar on the square (not the popular fully booked Bar El Populacho - mostly with guests from our hotel, who may have been on half-board since the hotel's restaurant is closed). We ended the evening in the next door bar for a good cheese plate and excellent live music - I think locals having a get together rather than professionals. Breakfast OK for the price. A memorable evening, but I do not know what it is like on weekday evenings. We were there in March and at 400m+ it was chilly in the evening so bring a few warm clothes. We also enjoyed the nearby aboriginal site of Cuatro Puertas (free) and the old centre of Telde.
Review 8:-finding a place to park your car nearby-impossible -the staff was always somewhere else and we had to look for a receptionist all the time -too small bed for two people -breakfast good but not much choice of products
Review 9:-location in the centre of the town -interior -very nice person at the reception desk
Review 10:No wifi in bedrooms only restaurant No one on reception after 5 pm Breakfast is same every day - cold meats, cheeses etc
Review 11:Peaceful location but in centre of village Full of character Huge room and high ceiling Helpful staff
Review 12:This hotel is really an annexe of Hotel Los Camellos. It is unstaffed, you let yourself in and out using a key and breakfast is served at Los Camellos. I would not recommend it for a winter stay because the only heating in the room was provided by a portable heater .To be fair, the staff did change my heater for a stronger one,but this only just coped. Also, parking and driving in the narrow streets is something of a nightmare.
Review 13:lovely old building, very spacious room and very helpful staff at nearby Los Camellos. Situated in a delightful old part of the town.
Review 14:My impression and information garnered from the staff is that there is a rich family that need to maintain this large colonial mansion so have opened up rooms ,employed a skeletal staff and instructed the manager to cut corners in expenditure in every way. This establishment is run for the benefit of the absent owners not the guests.
Review 15:two single beds on the wheels, it's impossible to make it like one double bed because it keeps drifting away (I asked for double as far as I can recall) * dust on the floor, the whole room looks dirty (but maybe that's only calima) * almost no lighting at all (light bulbs missing or lamps not working makes this room completely dark) * constant draught in the room (luckily an additional electric heater is working fine) * there was battled water for guests in the mini fridge in the room, which is nice, but it was already opened by someone else and almost empty (which simply means that the room was not cleaned before our arrival) * a typical German restaurant (breakfast etc.) with German crew in Casa de Los Camellos; Canarian food would be nicer I guess * the place is not worth the money, even if it's half the price of Casa de Los Camellos it's still not worth it
Review 16:the location is great, it's close to the old town city "centre", close to Casa de Los Camellos * free parking space available on the street
Review 17:Noisy from street on 2nd night but it was Halloween.
Review 18:Really helpful receptionist, gorgeous room in old Canarian building, a stone's throw from centre of one of the nicest towns in Gran Canaria. Great sculptures around the town.
Review 19:no wifi access, dark room, noise from the street.
Review 20:Old fashioned room with wooden beautiful furniture, high ceiling.
Review 21:The quiet village location very close to the airport making it an ideal for a short relaxing break.
Review 22:Excellent service in a beautiful hotel. We will choose it again if we stop on Gran Canaria
Review 23:It would have been nice if the bar could have open to sit around the gardens with a drink
Review 24:near to the town square choices of places to eat
Review 25:Bad breakfast, long way to the airport, few restaurant nearby the location
Review 26:Nice staff and a cosy village with beautilful streets.
Review 27:old style of the building; rooms were clean; friendly staff
Review 28:Perfect location in the historic center. Close to the airport
Review 29:Noisy from outside one night, but it was Halloween!
Review 30:Location, helpful staff, building and room. Buffet breakfast,
Review 31:We stayed in what is the old town hall, in a downstairs room, the ceiling was the floor in room above, could be noisy, Also the place next door is a music academy and they have practise between 1800 and 2000hours.!!
Review 32:great town, excellent value in bars and restaurant, very friendly locals. Not the usual tourist destination, a real of Canary Islands and their people. Not far to the coast, if you want a flavour of Gran Canaria this is the town to choose.
Review 33:Hotel staff seldom available. Had to call several times before someone turned up. No breakfast facilities outdoors, only in a rather dark room (while outside the sun is shining !!) And don't go there in the Carnival season - very, very loud music all night !!
Review 34:Nice old mansion. Nicely furnished. Great little village away from the crowds.
Review 35:We got no double bed allthough we ordered one in our reservation. We put the beds together by ourselves, however beds were on some wheels and they kept getting apart from each other during night... The room look nice, but for us not cozy at all. Bathroom is old and not very comfortable.
Review 36:TV didn't work ,and more importantly it was not possible to obtain a meal in the hotel, and very difficult to find anywhere to eat in the town.
Review 37:The room had character, and although old-fashioned had some good facilities such as hairdryer.
Review 38:There is no WIFI service - although cafe bars in the main square do offer that.
Review 39:The character of the hotel, which is a grand old townhouse furnished in an antique style, and it's location in the heart of the old town, are this hotel's strengths, along with the cleanliness of the room and bathroom.
Review 40:The hotel has no own reception, it uses the reception from another hotel where the service was not too friendly, no breakfast facilities, difficult to park, limited eating facilities in town
Review 41:Very special old building, spacious room, old wooden floor, quiet, close to the airport so good for an early morning flight out
Review 42:The hotel is an annex for the Hotel Casa De Los Camellos (3 min walk for breakfast) and it felt like an annex! The reading light bracket was falling off the wall, the chair was close to collapse, the cold tap didn't work on the sink and if you weren't first back in the evening the shower was cold. All fine for budget accommodation, but not in this price bracket.
Review 43:Room had atmosphere, opening on to an open courtward with plants, then straight on to one of the little paved streets in the centre of this pretty village, Aguimes.
Review 44:The Superior Double Room was large but not cozy. Wooden floor/roof was just 2-3 cm thick providing no isolation against sounds from the lower/upper room (EVERYTHING could be heard). Breakfast was very basic.
Review 45:No facility to make tea/coffee in rooms
Review 46:The location was good with local eateries and pubs but also really quiet for a good night sleep. The beds were comfortable.
Review 47:The shower worked although the pressure appeared to be a bit weak at times. However I still showered fine
Review 48:Fasinating building, as are possibly all the rural hotels in aguimes. Probably very cool in summer
Review 49:Immense charm of the building and large room size.
Review 50:Peaceful, lovely location, very friendly
Review 51:bathroom not up to scratch and ran out of hot water
Review 52:very characterful building, excellent restaurant, location right in the middle of historic centre
Review 53:The rooms in an old City Hall. Fantastic interior. Good beds. Just in the middle of the city.
