Reviews for Hotel Rural Casa de Los Camellos
Review 1:Very hard bed. Also, we were woken a couple of times at night by groups of people walking by on the street outside our room. Im guessing the rooms elsewhere in the hotel are quietr.
Review 2:Clean and large room in a very good location. No problems there.
Review 3:No staff present after 10pm. We got there at 10.30 due to plane arrival and then had to ring a number and wait for some time in the street before anyone appeared. My partner then took the hotel key while he went to park the car, and I was in the hotel "locked in" as it was impossible to exit the hotel without a key, which felt a bit scary.
Review 4:Lovely staff. Fantastic quirky decor. Very good breakfast.
Review 5:- Nice welcoming, even we arrived late (and even ig the guy couldn't speak english!)
Review 6:- Very nice location, and very pretty place - aircon and brand new room, with plenty of space and big bathroom - We check in very late and chech out very early, but it was not a problem. - They call a taxi for you - If we knew, we would have stay longer there, to enjoy the hotel
Review 7:Room 5 quite small (but big and comfortable bathroom. A lot of dust all around in the room and dirty floor. Air conditioning didn't work and the small fridge in the room (the engine in the back) heated the room. The outside temperature was perfect but it's not possible to keep the window open while sleeping. Mattress hard and too soft and small pillow.
Review 8:The hotel itself is a well restored historical and typical building. The interior courtyard is beautiful. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Review 9:Nothing!!!
Review 10:Aguimes is a stunning town!! A little secret hidden from main stream tourist.Rural Casa de Los Camellos is a stunning family run hotel! Very welcoming and very clean!!! Breakfast was amazing... spoilt for choice!!! Well worth a visit even just for a night!!
Review 11:Be warned, the staff don't speak much English, so take a dictionary! The hotel seems to be part of the tourist route so you do get people wandering in to take photos of the courtyard - didn't bother us but might bother some. I don't understand why they don't do dinner, the breakfast room is big enough and really lovely, but there is a choice of cafes close so not a worry.
Review 12:Lots of outside space, a huge amount of charm in an original Spanish-style property. It's spitting distance from the main square (including cafes) and you can hear the town bells. Lovely room fixtures and breakfast room, there's also a bar/lounge area so you can get drinks when you want. Little extra touches like sweets and toiletries in the room, and a 'picnic' lunch available from reception for just 6 Euros. Couldn't ask much more for the price!
Review 13:Nothing at all, considering the price
Review 14:Breakfast was wonderful. There were lovely little bars and eating places close by on the Church Square. The staff were very charming and helpful. Beds were really comfy and had duvets!
Review 15:In case you are hoping to sunbathe-In typical Canadian style, the rooms are rather dark and the outside space is all in shade at this time of year.
Review 16:Very picturesque hotel with large rooms and full of character. Pretty courtyards, mostly shady. Nice breakfast. Helpful staff. Right in the center of Aguimes.
Review 17:friendly service, lovely room, wide breakfast choice
Review 18:Slow Wifi; not really fresh air in the room.
Review 19:Good for one night stay. Nice patio and good location.
Review 20:Wifi not very strong. Noisy neighbours at times (but never at night).
Review 21:The location in the centre of aguimes, the building, the garden.
Review 22:All of it
Review 23:The bed was too hard.
Review 24:The staff were friendly and efficient.
Review 25:Enjoyed our short stay at this hotel in centre of small town. Comfortable room, good breakeakfast, friendly staff. Convenient for airport.
Review 26:It was very noisy, it might have been because it was very windy. Breakfast was adequate.
Review 27:Very pretty courtyard
Review 28:Understaffed. No evening meal available unless previously booked half board.Limited WiFi only in lounge area
Review 29:Quiet location in historical part of town
Review 30:no wifi in room (but outside in courtyard, not the end of the world!), thin walls
Review 31:location, appearance, breakfast
Review 32:The bedroom was very clean, but I think someone had forgotten to clean the bathroom. There were bits on the floor and stuff in the bathroom bin. Not the end of the world, but not 100% either.
Review 33:The staff were lovely.
Review 34:The hotel is in a lovely location right in the old town. I read there was no restaraunts in town, but saw one the day I left on a small street behind the Church. Aguimes is a very small and friendly town.
Review 35:Asking for full payment before I could even park the car or see the room. Hotel restaurant closed to us. Water warm rather than hot. Dark room. Overall mediocre.
Review 36:Breakfast Spacious room size
Review 37:No separate bar person at night to get a drink when office person is occupied booking in guests. No kettle and tea making facilities in our room.
Review 38:the location, old style courtyard hotel, done well and bright. Good double bed, large room with bath
Review 39:Being able to hear every word or sound in the next room. Also the extremely hard bed, very small for a superior room. Poor lighting.
Review 40:The building, the town.
Review 41:staff speaks no English, reception desk manned occasionally only, dinner somewhat pricey
Review 42:Located in the city centre, lovely atmosphere, only 12 rooms, dinner available
Review 43:I got a room at 2´d floor when I had told I travel alone with an infant. The deputize receptionist didnt have a clue about the area and was quite rude, talking aout my son as strange.
Review 44:Beautiful and quiet neighboorhood. The ordinary staff was an angel. She gave my hot milk and cookies for the nigt etc I felt nursed. Thank you!
Review 45:Nothing!
Review 46:If you're looking for a rural location, quiet and unspoilt then this is for you. Staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast of cereal, yoghurt, bread, meats, cheese, eggs, tomatoes, fruit - excellent. We had a large room - basic but comfortable and clean. Local bars very welcoming - great tapas. We would recommend this hotel if you want to be off the beaten track - we'll be returning.
Review 47:The Wellcome we received was rather frosty The room was very small and directly above the breakfast room and next to the cleaners cupboard The towels were threadbare and the bath tiles and shower head mouldy There were no additional pillows The wiring was dodgy for the TV and lights and one bedside bulb was fused
Review 48:The location The continental breakfast
Review 49:Bed very hard, breakfast a bit limited.
Review 50:Lovely hotel, nice room with plenty of storage and good shower. Attractive old town with plenty of bars. Convenient for airport.
Review 51:Finding the hotel by car was extremely difficult. We had to ask at least 6 different people. The hotel staff agreed with that and added that the google directions from the airport were useless.
Review 52:It can get very cold at night in the rooms, AC was not usable. Breakfast is not great but OK. Wireless should be available in the rooms not just in the courtyard (again, very cold to sit outside)
Review 53:The house is beautifully decorated, traditional architecture, rooms in mint condition.
Review 54:When we left on the Saturday morning the standard of service was much lower. The breakfast tables were all covered with dirty plates and we had to clear a space to sit (we were not down late). When we checked out neither of our UK credit cards were accepted and we had to pay cash. The same card was used later to buy petrol and food so the problem was at their end.
Review 55:The hotel is located conveniently in the centre of the town. We received a good welcome when we checked in and the room and building is in a pleasing and traditional style.
Review 56:value for money, booked superior double room-got twin bedded large room in need of refurbishment, not impressed with unhelpful reception staff
Review 57:the location in A quiet village
Review 58:Only issue was the bed, the bed is only full size and very hard. It could use a mattress pad.
Review 59:Aguimes is a lovely town. The Escuela Rral Casa de Los Camellos was very quaint and beautiful. Loved the decor. Courtyard is a nice place to relax. The restaurant was good. This hotel is part of a school but that did not affect our stay.
Review 60:Can be tricky to find staff if arriving late, when reception is closed(after 10 pm), basic breakfast the same every day (but adequate forprice). Although normally a very quiet town with a few pleasant tapasbars, during the main carnaval week, the noise from nearby stage wasunbearable until about 2.30 am on 4 nights of the week (4.30 am Fridaynight). Even earplugs useless against the heavy electronic bass. This isnot the fault of the hotel, of course.
Review 61:Architecture of building, internal courtyard and plants, comfortablelarge room with good sized bathroom, pleasant little town away fromugly beach resorts, wifi in restaurant, good value, free parking innearby streets or town car park, friendly staff. Very quiet (outsidecarnaval time)
Review 62:There are no good restaurants in Aguimes and the restaurant of the hotel is very basic.
Review 63:It is one pf the eldest spots of this island. You feel the history in every corner.
Review 64:We enjoyed our stay because people of Gran Canaria are very friendly andhelpful, we made several beautiful walking trips in the barranco ofGuayadeque starting in Aguimes, which is famous for its cave houses, weenjoyed the nature and the beautiful flowers in January ! in the weekendof 18 January we returned to enjoy the fiestas of St. Sebastian inAguimes, very beautiful church of St. Sebastian, a lot of statues in thestreets, a nice plaza in front of the church with bars
Review 65:There was no one at the desk to receive us for at least 15 minutes, and we were parked on a pedestrian street (with a car waiting behind us).
Review 66:It was beautiful, well-appointed, central.
Review 67:Although read about this in other reviews don't appreciate quite how thin the walls were - could hear EVERYTHING going on next door!
Review 68:The hotel is very nice and clean. Dinner at the hotel was tasty. Nice location.
Review 69:when we arrived there was nobody to check us in, we had to look for somebody in the kitchen before we could drop our luggage, she was friendly wasn't able to help us much concerning transfer to the airport, map of the village and such.
Review 70:nice and cosy, clean building, perfect location, good breakfeast
Review 71:The staff presence is very discrete. This could be both a good thing but also a bad (if you are looking for some assistance)
Review 72:The location in Aguimes' historical quarter with views to San Sebastian is excellent. Free parking is available in the streets behind the hotel (if you have a rental) or it's 5 mins walk to the bus station. Aguimes is 15-20 mins drive from the airport and 15 mins from the sea. It's also an excellent base for exploring the spectacular interior of the island. Rooms are spacious, clean and full of character. We loved the inner courtyard and the on site restaurant.
Review 73:No facilities in the room for making a cup of tea which would have beenmost useful as we were staying in a nearby building. Unable to eat inthe restaurant as our booking had been overlooked.
Review 74:Excellent location in an old building in the centre of town
Review 75:It was not clear where to checkin when the desk is closed. When you ring the bell, nobody comes. Just an hour later we found out we could have gone to the restaurant (which looked closed, but apparently it was not). A message to go there when the checkin desk is closed would help.
Review 76:Good food in the restaurant. Very nice and interesting building.
Review 77:The director is not keen on service. When the restaurant was occupied by a large group, there was no possibility for the guests who had booked half-pension. No alternative was offered, and all restaurants in Aguimes were closed. Food in the restaurant was very disappointing, almost no vegetables were offered, except for one day when the Chef had a day off. Then his assistant prepared a good dinner. The internet connection of the computer in the lounge was broken; no efforts were made to repair.
Review 78:Rooms are nicely furnished with wooden floor. Breakfast is buffet style with fresh fruits and is excellent.Wifi is available in the restaurant but not in the rooms.
Review 79:in our room, tv was in the weirdest place, impossible to watch from the bed! The isolation was extremely bad.we could hear another couple from the next room packing up !!! The bed was a bit small and squeeky but then again; the look they're going for is rustic The shower (in our room) was miserable, no water pressure. One of the staff was not very polite... Very difficult to find if you don't have a GPS. Hotel reception close after 22:30 so, let them know if you are arriving after that hour!!!!
Review 80:Calm hotel in the center of the old town of Aguimes. Only 12 rooms, nothing to do with those mass complexes from the south of the island. Good breakfast but its everyday the same so if more than 2 days get monotonous, Quite a few of bars and restos nearby. Nice and helpful hotel manager with plenty of tips. good amount of parking places around 15 mins from the airport
Review 81:The location in the center of Aiguimes and the beautiful renovated andstilish decorated hotel, you have direct access to the lovelycountryside of the Tirajana valley, too. Also the food in therestaurant was good.
Review 82:The location & surroundings
Review 83:Nothing
