Reviews for Wira Hostel
Review 1:The showers smelled really bad, in one of them someone had defecated. He calmly told me to go to the mens shower and left the "mess" there until hours later someone came to clean. Mens shower was stinky aswell and full of black funky looking fungi. When i wanted to check out there was no one there, eventually, after waiting for an hour and calling both numbers provided and having been told someone would arrive, i had to wake up the guy in his room, this was not a crazy early time (not that thay could have been an excuse... its his job), it was past eleven. He eventually came out with his pants unbuckled and between giving me back my deposit asked me why i hadnt had tea with him...!! (he had previously invited me to watch him dj, have tea, and had repeated since i checked in that i was a "very pretty girl" a few times, maybe he was trying to be nice, but to me it seemed like flirting, and specially travelling on my own, it was inapropiate and made me uncomfortable).
Review 2:Location is great, just infront of the s-bahn and the kitchen is nice, you can store your food, cook...
Review 3:The 10eur deposit is a scam pure and simple.... there is no one to check you out when you leave! The rooms are overcrowded with beds with hardly any floor space to move about. There is one bathroom per gender for the whole hostel and of the 2 showers available only one was working properly. The whole place needs a good clean and renovation. The manager kept making inappropriate comments to all the female guests and as a solo traveller this wasn't exactly reassuring. The bed didn't have a proper mattress but simple a couple of thin mattresses on top of each other. The dorm I stayed in was right next to the front entrance and outside of the door there is a small common area with people talking... so you can imagine how much sleep you get here. My advice is not to stay here... they even had a couple of beds in the corridor (with people walking past you to go to the bathroom/showers. Overall a terrible experience. You should remove this from booking.com it is giving the website a bad name!
Review 4:Practically nothing!
Review 5:-the hostel and rooms smelled pretty bad -there were 16 people in bunk beds jammed into my room (seemed a bit overloaded) -the guy on staff was a bit overwhelmed as well (only one staff member for maybe 30-40 people?) -when i pre-booked on Booking.com, my credit went through according to the website, but did not go through for the hostel booker. So rather than calling me, they booked over my Saturday night (thankfully someone didn't show up, so I got to stay, but I almost would have had no place to stay on the Saturday night - no other hostels had availability)
Review 6:the location was great -very close to the Reeperbahn -right across the road from a subway stop if you wanted to get further downtown
Review 7:- anonimous building on a single floor - poor quality of the toilet (toilet paper missing sometimes, no hangers, not well clean)
Review 8:- location - it's quiet - price
Review 9:Filthy enviroment, rude staff with sexist comments.. You have to pay comission for paying by card and they charge you extra money for sheets and you cannot bring yours.
Review 10:The hostel takes 10 euro as a deposit at checking in. I was told that I'll get my money back at check out. But in the morning when I was going to leave the hostel there was nobody at reception. One person told me that the administration starts to work at 13 (but the time of check out is 11). I was not informed about this possible situation before so I did not know what to do. And there was nobody who could give my money back. So I left the hostel and I've wrote an e-mail to reception with asking to send 10 euro to my card. The answer was not pleasant, smth like "you can come and take your money". I guess the personal does not know the elementary rules of communication. Ok, I had the opportunity and I came back to the hostel in the evening and got the money. Summary. Yes, this amount is not huge, but the problem is not just in money, the problem is in attitude to the guest. My staying at this hostel was ok for price I paid, but the last impression totally spoilt my opinion. So I'd not recommend this place for stay
Review 11:The hostel is located near to the metro station. As well near some popular places. I didn't see any bedbugs. But maybe it was just a good luck. The price was good The shower and toilet were pretty clean although I'd recommend to put some shelves to the shower room. The kitchen is clean as well, but the fridge was full almost every time and not so clean
Review 12:- although the website stated that the tax was included into the price, I had to pay it extra on top of the price, the staff informed me that they have already requested booking.com to change it, but it has not been reflected yet. - the owner has been imposing "fines" for not folloing house rules, you can end up paying EUR10 for not puting a bed sheet on a bed - on one hand it helps to keep the place clean, on the other hand - you feel like in army.
Review 13:- location is super convenient with an easy access to the city centre, river, parties and the airport - the place is clean, but it lacks backpacker vibe
Review 14:It's cheap and it shows. Watch your valuables and stuff (it has lockers), maybe not the safest place to go, it's close to the red-light district...
Review 15:Manolo at the reception – speaks Spanish, English & German – he's very kind. big good Kitchen. intercultural atmosphere. very central & infront of a metro station.
Review 16:People at reception were never there, had to wait outside ringing forever in the rain, twice. Hidden fees, and I don't know how since we get new linen I got bed bug bites
Review 17:It was really close to anything you want to see in Hamburg. Big kitchen, quiet at night, clean
Review 18:When we arrived, we got a list of rules that we had to sign. It felt quite strict. We had to pay extra 10€ because we arrived 2 hours later than 9pm, and taxes were obviously not paid of that money. We got only one key for 2 people. The athmosphere wasn't that special, people were not sticking together. Hostel was dirty, didn't make me feel good walking to shower without flipflops. I also got bed bug bites during my stay, but luckily there wasn't any in my backpack after the stay.
Review 19:Location was good, reeperbahn was only a couple of minutes of walk away. Metro station was really close to the hostel. You could also sleep quite well, because people were not loud.
Review 20:The showers was dirty and not in right condition at all, and the fridge was completly full.
Review 21:Amazing atmosphere there, right next to the Reeperbahn and is a true party hostel. The host is also an amazing guy but it can be a bit dirty and "cheap" there so if you need luxury then maybe this is the best place for you.
Review 22:There was only one toilet and handbasin for approximately 12 male guests. This forced many guys to use the female bathroom.
Review 23:Great location, helpful receptionist, good wifi, good kitchen
Review 24:Friendly staff and access to a great kitchen/cooking supplies. He was flexible about my stay and accommodating when I added an extra day to my stay in Hamburg. Also, I had to show up after the hostel closes in the evening because of my train arrival, yet he stayed there until I arrived and made sure that I checked in.
Review 25:Bad wifi, no set reception hours, wasn't made feel welcome, extra charge for sheets and card payment
Review 26:The bed was comfortable, decent kitchen, good location
Review 27:Very solid accommodation for what I paid (I think around €20 for the night). The manager was a bit of an oddball but very helpful. It's very conveniently placed right near an S-Bahn station so heading to and from the Hbf was very easy.
Review 28:They charged me an extra money than that I supposed to pay, so don't be fool by price in website. 2 WC for entire hostle with no detergent. Shower has no better condition than WC,.... all in all,it's better to put your money in toilet and flash than pay for these hostel.
Review 29:A little too warm and the mattress a little thin & hard.
Review 30:Manolo is a really friendly, professional & helpful host - comfortable speaking English, Spanish & German.
Review 31:The distance for the city center was a little annoying
Review 32:The owner helped us a lot, to fulfill thr check-in, the overall price is very pleasant, and the hostel was not so crowded when we stayed
Review 33:Too hard ladder to climb up to the bed, Mixed bathroom and showeroom
Review 34:Staffs were very kind and helpful, metro station was close (a minute walk needed), Reeperbahn was close (10 minute walk), cozy kitchen.
Review 35:The restrooms are the worst ever. The rooms are too small and Not cleaned.
Review 36:The only good thing over there is the staff. They're kind and helpful. The kitchen is Nice too.
Review 37:They charge you extra The reception abuses your need to check in to get extra charges not mentioned in the original document Not clean Too crowded The internet sucks There is better hostels in Hamburg with practically the same price once you add the extra charges
Review 38:Nothing deserves to book There
Review 39:I had bedbugs, then I changed the bed and had bedbugs again. Only after the second change they were gone. Sometimes in the morning the reception was unoccupied for over an hour - even though it should be open from 8-11 a.m. (as they claim)
Review 40:The entire accomodation. The shared facilities looked horrorful, the floor of the dorm didn't look like it had seen clean water in a while and the mattress was extremely dirty too.
Review 41:I was able to easily shorten my stay without having to pay any extra fees and just paying for that one night.
Review 42:Unpolite and unfriendly staff. Dirty bathrooms during the day or the night. Kitchen is closed during the night - I really didn't get that - and the door system is a joke: the security card is hidden in the mail box
Review 43:The localization is quite good. Quiet street, even though near to the Reeperbahn, which is on foot less than 10 minutes away.
Review 44:This hostel sucks! crowded, dim light in bathroom, feeble wifi,no enough sheets, stain in bed, delay 30 minutes because of inefficient staff's check in service......
Review 45:none
Review 46:The water on the showers was quite hot and I couldn't cool it. They didn't accept my debit card so I had to pay cash.
Review 47:GREAT LOCATION - in opposite of the S-bahn station! One stop from Altona (where we used to go to LIDL to buy cheap food) and about 5 to the center and the city hall! People there respect the fact that I want to sleep and even if I go to bed early or sleep until late, they keep quiet. (I was in a 12-bed dorm). There were rooms for changing clothes for shy people. The Kitchen has everything you need. :)
Review 48:interior set up is a little disconnected
Review 49:5 min walk to reeperbahn and st pauli , quiet area , good kitchen , good wifi , easily accessible buy train and car , staff very helpful
Review 50:-extra pay for the linen -poor kitchen equipment ( plastic forks and spoons, no glasses) -too many rules
Review 51:It is very close to the main street. Perfect location. Guy from reception is very funny!:D
Review 52:late arrival of stuff for check out
Review 53:The place doesnt look clean and the rooms are smelly.
Review 54:the reception was friendly.
Review 55:The staff is very nice!
Review 56:Location close to center
Review 57:One toilet for all ladies. Did not feel safe (no key to individual rooms, only got a key for front door). Lockers were €1/day.
Review 58:No staff on duty Bad showers No atmosphere cold and dark place
Review 59:Location
Review 60:On booking.com site, it is included citytax. But on the hostel, I had to pay city tax:( bathroom was broken.
Review 61:staff was kind
Review 62:I didn't like the bedbugs that bit me all over and that I brought home :(
Review 63:There are cost that are confusing, will be better when you don't have choice to chose to add it in the cost.
Review 64:goog location
Review 65:wifi
Review 66:Nothing
Review 67:Manolo, the receptionist, made our stay amazing. Comfortable beds and location 50m from underground S1 line that connects directly to airport
Review 68:They guy who runs it is caring friendly helpful and the other guestswere great location is close and quite
Review 69:nothing. i like everything
Review 70:The Staff. the chap there is amazing
Review 71:Bathroom and toilet were small and you had to change infront of another people totally wasn't good
Review 72:Friendly people and staff
Review 73:Kitchen with watercooker
Review 74:It is near St. Pauli, the red light district, bunch of clubs and bars.
Review 75:Some guests let other people stay and they do not pay.
Review 76:Liked Analdo,Nick and Orochorn
Review 77:facilities (WC, showers, communal space) a bit grotty
Review 78:easy to find close to a station clean rooms lockers
Review 79:Everything
Review 80:The kitchen is the only nice place in the hostel and it's not far from red light district.
Review 81:Other hostels offer better facilities for the same or lower cost
Review 82:Friendly staff, it did the job it was supposed to do.
Review 83:Very far from the city area and did not seem like a friendly area
Review 84:Good price and friendly staff
Review 85:I didnt know that we have to pay additional money for bed set and tax. They MUST notify about it on the website. Sencondly, I couldnt see person at reception except for when I check in. It is quite weird. They have to be in reception desk Finally, There were no MAP. It is most basic thing. No wonder that they are not interested in treating customer
Review 86:I could use Wifi in room cause kitchen which Wifi is located in is next to our room.
Review 87:-quite far from city center so tourists have better take public transfortation. -i set my bed myself although i payed another fee for bed. -wifi was so weak... -power extension is needed for the one on the 2nd floored bed
Review 88:-kind staff (he guided me for city by his car) -far from city center but so close to fishermarket and street for night life.
Review 89:They ask me extra 2 euro for tax and 3 euro for pillow cover so eventhough it was 20 euro on website but i paid 25 euro. that was excess. They dont have proper planning no where lock to room as well as bathroom. This hostel is not recommend for couple at all. kitchan was was so untidy. no proper organisation of beds and bed sorting.
Review 90:it was near S-bahn train station. it is near city.
Review 91:This place can really not be recommended. It's rather a converted cellar than a hostel. What disturbed me most were the washing rooms which were disgusting every morning.
Review 92:I was asked 3 euros for bed linen, when I told them I had my sleeping bag they said sleeping bags were forbidden because they had had "problems" in the past. I couldn't understand what the problems were. So I ended up paying 23 euros for a bed in a large dorm, without breakfast.
Review 93:I didn´t like that kitchen was ofter dirty, especially on weekend when people partyied there and didn´t cleaned after themselves. In the mornig, about 10-11 am was kitchen still very unclean and also toilets were dirty and no toilet paper- I think that if c/out starts at 8 then everything should be clean - atleast toilets. I payd extra for 4 bed room but I didn´t like that between 8-9am two people were checed in to this room- this is not acceptable- they came and disturbed my sleep- (I paid 25€ for one night), C/in time satrts usually at 2 o´clock so I don´t understand why receptionist allowed these people to come in to the room so early. Also, there should be some lock system- atleast for 4 bed room- we paid much more but still people from other rooms (probably drunk) came in and out during the night- one searched some empty bed and another one some wine...!! Also I didn´t like that peolpe were moved from one room to another like they were some dolls- receptionist wanted to move in 4 bed room where three beds were already occupied a family- parents and two kids- one client was asked to move to another room- that parents with two kids could sleep in two beds!!- but this is not acceptable- I paid for 4 bed room not for 6 bed room....There should be put some boundaries- it did look like they don´t care about their long term clients. Also, it was said that after 10pm should be a quiet time but people partied in the kitchen until 1-2am! It was unpossible even to stay in the room because of this noise.
Review 94:Receptionists and a cleaner Arnoldos were very friendly.
Review 95:The door to our room didnt lock, the bed wasn't there when we arrived, the guy had to assemble it for us and to top it all off the 80% of the plugs in the room were a safety hazard.
Review 96:Probably one of the worst hostels in Germany! Dirty, staff is strange, and BUGS everywhere!!!
Review 97:Just 50 m. from S-Bahn station! And this is only one + !!!
Review 98:bed bugs!!
Review 99:Everything is on high level! The staff, is very friendly and helpful, especially Dragan!)
Review 100:Overbooking!
Review 101:Location - in front of a metrostation
