Reviews for Jugendherberge Hamburg Auf dem Stintfang
Review 1:La negra que estaba de recepcionista estaba amargada. Me trato mal. The black woman that was at the reception wanted to take more money from me that It was. She was putting me troubles as much as she could.
Review 2:Too many stairs to get to the hotel, arriving at 5pm in the winter makes it hard to find the place because the way up is very dark and there are no signs
Review 3:Breakfast and the cleaness of the shower, also the views
Review 4:Location isn't bad just above the U+S-bahn station but you have to climb lots of stairs
Review 5:Value for money, kindly staffs, perfect breakfast and stable bunk bed.
Review 6:The smell very hard of the room and somebody vomit in the night on the floor just close my bed... Very bad night I complain and sayed my disappointement but nothing
Review 7:Situation Breakfast and personal good
Review 8:As in all Jugendheberge there's no kitchen. There's a bistrothough that serves every meal, but you have to book it in advance andpay for the whole meal. You can't just go there for a salad.Apparently it's too difficult to handle for them. But the worstthing is the WiFi. Yes, it's free, but you need a username and apassword that you have to ask at the desk. And you have to enter thecodes every time you want to use the WiFi. And it expires after 24hours. So you need to get a new paper every single day of your stay, ormore if you forget or lose one. And that is when it's working atall. When you sleep in a dorm, the bathroom is outside, which is finebut there's only 3 toilets and showers and one handdryer foreverybody in a mixed dorm. If you have a private room or a female onlydorm you have your own bathroom, but with no soap and nothing to dryyour hands.
Review 9:The location is great! You have a direct view over the harbour andit's directly out of the Landungsbrücken station. But when you exitgo up the stairs to the top. The hostel is hidden on top behind treesand there's no indications! Breakfast buffet included is always aplus. The lockers offered in the dorms are big and can fit big luggage. After two nights not sleeping well in a big mixed dorm the guy at thedesk was understanding and accepted to put me in a smaller female onlydorm without additional fee.
Review 10:close to everywhere , so clean, there are lots of social place and resting place. Breakfast was so good. You have a wonderful port view in your room. Everything was okey :)
Review 11:They weren't willing to respect the price made via booking.com. The place was packed with children and youth. Totally not a touristic experience
Review 12:location
Review 13:No soap in the bathroom, soap dish was broken. Bathrooms were few. Too crowded. Too loud. Bunk bed was crunkling. Paid way more than I supposed to pay. I had many luggages and elevator didnt work. Additionally, there are I think at least 100 stairs to reach to the hostel from Metro station, especially if you have many luggages and more than 27 years old (you have to pay extra 4 euros if you are older), for sure find some place else.
Review 14:if you want to get the hostel, you have to 'climb' a really long stairs! Not recommended for travellers with big suitcases. Not all the staff are welcome and well English speakers.
Review 15:The location is really great! Close to most attractions and see the beautiful sunset everyday. The breakfast is so great!
Review 16:The place in itself was perfect regarding location, staff and services. I was just a little disappointed with the socialising aspect of the hostel: as it had the word "junge" in the name, I was expecting it to be a good place to meet other travellers, but it turned out to be around 80% families with children. Who knows, it might have been those particular two days that I stayed there... Otherwise perfect, as I said.
Review 17:little noise of the metro when it passes near the hostel
Review 18:the location so close to the port and the metro station and ferries ( public and privates ones) breakfast cleaninliness helpful staff
Review 19:One of the staff is quite rude to come my room and awakened me on the 5th day of my stay out of 6 days. Then treatened me whether I was not checking out my room within 10 minutes they got extra charge. Then I checked out at 10am and new room was available at 1pm so the short-haired blonde women staff should get some education about customer relationships and hospitality.
Review 20:Location is pretty good and breakfast is over the standards
Review 21:No internet in rooms and the staff was unfriendly at check in. There also were extra charged that were not mentioned in the initial pricing.
Review 22:The property and location are amazing!
Review 23:I am the type of person who can accommodate to almost everything so I didn't catch anything bad.
Review 24:Great location! Great friendly staff. Free Wi-Fi although in the lobby, but you don't go on a vacation or sth and sit all day using Wi-Fi :) No problem with english language. You have to be careful though - Checkout is till 10 am, but my key card stopped working about 5 to 10 minutes before 10 am (but I always race with the time :D ). Thanks to my roommate i still was able to get my things :) Nice variety of food for breakfast! You also have a locker by the bed you can store some baggae bigger than normal backpacks. So no worries about your stuff. I will definitely place a visit in the future here! Greetings!
Review 25:Too few shared bathrooms. Internet password changed daily - that's a bit nuisance
Review 26:Very good and substantial breakfast; quite cheap dinners available as well. Excellent localion, very close to S-Bahn and U-Bahn station and the harbour.
Review 27:Very loud surrounding, many students staying there. Since i wanted a place to rest from the long journey, i should have picked something else, more quiet, less busy. Since those guys don't spend much attention to personal higiena, the room was very stinky with perspiration. My computer connected to the WiFi but couldn't open a login page. So the internet was non existent to me. Since I didn't need it too much, i didn't bother to ask for help. To compare - everywhere else, with the same authentication system it was working well. Breakfast was OK, but there's a big queue to serve, the tables are all full too.
Review 28:The place is swarming with young people, if you are of the same age, it should be a very good experience. Despite that, it's all very clean. I also liked the automatic locks that are open with special key cards.
Review 29:Difficult to locate for a first timer and a horrible wifi connection
Review 30:A very very friendly staff, good safe for clothes and luggage for every bed in the room, a very good spread of breakfast.
Review 31:Clean, tidy rooms, safe lockers, communal bathrooms are very clean and well maintained. The breakfast is great. A huge range of food to choose from. Great location. 3-5 min walk to Reeperbahn and the Fishmarket. Highly recommend this hostel.
Review 32:Internet is bit slow
Review 33:Very good location and welcoming staff. But be reminded that if you don't hold International Youth Hostel Card, it charges you 3 € more for a daily membership
Review 34:In some rooms you can't lock your laggage or you have to pay.
Review 35:The breakfast was really nice, lot of things you could choose, fruit, bread... It all looks really nice and clean. I'd absolutely came back to the same hostel.
Review 36:i didn't know that i need a hostel card, so i have to pay extra 3.5euro per night. there was a couple in our room, they stole my keycard and check out with it, so i have to pay for the key card. drinking your own alcohol is not allowed. You need to buy alcohol in hostel bar. If you want to use kitchen or laundry room you should ask them to give your card permission, they do not include it. and you should get your wifi id every day. one id is just for one day.
Review 37:Watch out for hidden fees and charges - if you are over 27, and not a member of the organisation the hostel associates with, you will be hit with a bill much higher than the rate you are quoted on booking.com ... Your pennies may be pinched a little bit, but on the plus side, the coke machine is relatively cheap!
Review 38:Located close to local nightlife, and literally on top of a metro station, travel around town could not be more convenient! The common areas are clean and well maintained.
Review 39:the staff who helped me check in didn't tell me anything. I had to keep going downstairs to ask, such as wi-fi password, the locker and some information about the hostel. and the room doesn't have wi-fi. (it's not a big deal) my sheet doesn't clean at all, I found leaf on my bed!!!
Review 40:some staff are really kind, that's all!
Review 41:Expensive for what it was, food was not great, environment was not inducive to meeting fellow travelers
Review 42:Good bed, great location, lockers in room, clean
Review 43:The hostel is very cosy, the receptionists are friendly and helpful. Themain things which I adored is the fresh air and the magnificent view onthe Hamburg Harbor!
Review 44:Very expensive for the level of comfort provided. Got some surprise extra charges that were not clear when booking (hostel membership fee, extra fee for people older than 27+). Beds were pretty small and not having hot water in the shower is just unacceptable when it's freezing.
Review 45:Location close to city
Review 46:It's not really close to everything. The worst thing is you need to get your heavy luggages up many stairs. That's after you taking a long time transportation. Everything costs extra money even though price for bed is not really cheap.
Review 47:Quite good facilities Good view
Review 48:Despite NO SMOKING in the grounds of the Jugendherberger is policy of the establishment, the place where one takes breakfast has wide open door, where people go "out" to smoke and all of it comes into the room. So much for early fresh air in the morning. Staff does not show any care in this regard.
Review 49:Location is excellent. Very central, close to the Botanical Garden.
Review 50:Check in time , we arrived at 9am and couldn't check in until 2pm
Review 51:Hostel was perfect for a stag weekend ! 5 min walk from all the pubs and clubs ! Hamburg a great city and people are very friendly !

Review 68:Everything is ok there. Great location, facilities, view and so on
Review 69:Wireless not working in the room
Review 70:On the 1st floor could be more toilets
Review 71:Location, staff, food
Review 72:No internet in room
Review 73:good location and breakfast
Review 74:I had to pay extra being more than 27 years old and non-member. I knew about that before, but still do not like it.
Review 75:I had to pay more when I arrived ( as I am not a IH member) this was not explained in the booking.
Review 76:Nice breakfast and view. Very clean and neat.
Review 77:Loved the location. Staff very professional and helpful.
Review 78:Great location, friendly staff, left luggage facility, clean and good value accommodation.
Review 79:Wifi sucks. I don't why I can't use it constantly at my room. It just doesn't make any sense.

Review 103:didn't really have that hostel feel. Everyone kept to them selves when I went there were a lot of 15 16 year olds staying there not a good place to stay if your a solo traveller looking to meet others and party a bit.
Review 104:Very clean great place
Review 105:many additional payments, e.g. for club card, for towel etc. At the end the price was doubled from the one i booked.
Review 106:good breakfest good location perfect for one night visit
Review 107:The hostel is location on top of a little slope, not convenient if carrying many luggage.
Review 108:Excellent location right on top of the S-Bahn station and the Hamburg harbour. Very good breakfast and very nice environment. Panoramic view of the hamburg harbour from the room and helpful staff.
Review 109:Wifi is not free as advertised. Only 1 hour free, have to pay afterwards. Also there are only 3 showers for entire floor which approximately contains 200 people. Very long queues for that reason.
Review 110:Buffet breakfast was very good which was included in the price.
Review 111:It attracts a lot of school groups and the kids run the halls making lots of noise during the night.
Review 112:I liked the convenience an locality of the hostel.
Review 113:The wifi is not free, and it is different from the information online.
Review 114:Location is really great to overview the harbor. And it is in the leftedge of old city district, so you have the chance to get closer to theinteresting thing in the west (because some people they prefer east)
Review 115:Location is 20min walk to centre but subway is just few min away. Wifi only available for free for an hour the whole stay..
Review 116:Awesome hostel, nice breakfast, very clean
Review 117:Wi-fi was not free. Staff tie me to become a member of Hostelling International group & buy this card. Service clean rooms with guests. Difficult walk up to hotel with luggage, because it is situated on the top of a hill.
