Reviews for Hotel am Nikolaiort (former Hotel Nikolai)

Review 1:Pillows could be improved, or extra pillows provided. Small fridge in room would have been nice.

Review 2:Location, breakfast and friendly staff. We travelled with our 2-year old who can sleep with us if no extra bed available so we didn't book for baby cot or extra bed. Upon arrival we were given a very big room/apartment as that one had a third bed.

Review 3:My room on 1/F was quite noisy, especially in the morning or at night. Room on 3/F seems to be old and not cosy. Difficult to park near the hotel, and have to pay 10EU per day for underground parking. Funny structure of the hotel, could get lost on the street.

Review 4:Room quite big and comfortable. Located in the city centre, close to shops and restaurant. The Bavarian restaurant belonging to the hotel is a must-try. Rooms on 1/F seem to be renovated, you can still smell it slightly. Lateron we moved to a triple room on 3/F which was not renovated but huge, 2 stories high, with bedroom upstairs and huge living room with kitchen cabinets downstairs. Funny experience.

Review 5:At Saturday night the people in street below were noisy, but that occurs in more places worldwide. The balcony blocked a lot of noise! The access of the Hotel was difficult to find. We could not make tea/coffee in the room.

Review 6:We had a room with a lot of space and a nice balcony. The staff was friendly and breakfast was OK.

Review 7:No tea and coffee making facilities or room safe. Hotel access was a bit difficult, with heavy suitcases, via a stepped walkway. Some traffic noise early in the morning due to the hotel being situated on an island in the main road. WiFi was expensive and unreliable.

Review 8:Very clean, comfortable and modern hotel in a good location for visiting the town centre and a short bus ride from the train station. The reception staff were very helpful and spoke excellent English. The breakfast was good with a wide and plentiful variety of choices. The complimentary bottle of water was a nice touch. Nice sized room.

Review 9:Wifi and parking are extras, so add this in consideration when booking.

Review 10:The room was really nice, modern and clean. Bathroom was fresh and new. The cleaner did an excelent job, everything sparkled.

Review 11:The spiral staircase of my room wouldn't be good for someone with heavy luggage or a mobility problem.

Review 12:My room had a really interesting layout: a spiral staircase from the door to the room, one totally enclosed small balcony and one large open deck/balcony. It had a pleasant view of the town. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Review 13:We asked for and received a room without carpeting due to allergy . Staff very helpful and attentive. Great breakfast even including freshly-pressed orange juice.

Review 14:Really difficulty to find, does not exist on our sat nav. Go into central part of town and park in the nikolaij parking and the hotel is above the parking house

Review 15:Great location and a nice room

Review 16:Appalling internet strength. Staff did their best to solve the problem but with no result. Ruined my stay, couldn't work online effectively or get travel information

Review 17:Staff excellent, room pleasant, breakfast choice good

Review 18:No stop for the bath so only shower possible, all connections between reception, restaurant, rooms are outside (covered but not heated)

Review 19:Location, excellent breakfast, helpful staff

Review 20:Nothing to report .

Review 21:Attention to detail , the staff went to great lengths to deliver our wishes and the cleanliness and location were top class . If you have the chance , eat in their sister restaurant which is very close by .

Review 22:Nothing. We had no complaints.

Review 23:Basically Everything. The staff were very helpful and amenable, the breakfast was unbeatable, the room was perfect and clean.

Review 24:Rather anonymous. Hotel entrance not easy to find first time, situated on top of an underground car park. Local people unable to provide guidance.

Review 25:Good town-centre location; on-site parking

Review 26:Wonderful breakfast ,rooms were large with leather sofa ,and room was cleaned everyday to a high standard, and just across the road you were in town with shops and bars on doorstep .

Review 27:No free WIFI.

Review 28:Though relatively small room, but good enough to stay a couple of days. Very clean room, good shower, and excellent breakfast.

Review 29:The underground car park can be very busy

Review 30:Location was right in the center of town, great for shopping

Review 31:Nothing really

Review 32:The location the breakfast convenience of the car parking

Review 33:the breakfast perfect

Review 36:Room on the street side

Review 37:Spacy room Bathroom Breakfast

Review 38:No free wifi.

Review 39:Great location. Parking right underneath the hotel. Good breakfast. Value for money and excellent staff.

Review 40:The decoration in the room is a bit depressive. Not really a problem though.

Review 41:Good location. Good breakfast.

Review 42:Location and excellent breakfast. Good size of the room.

Review 43:Room was more like a suite, even had a kitchenette.

Review 44:No waterboiler and no refridgerator in the room.

Review 45:The welcoming and the help received from the staff, the location, the size of the rooms.

Review 46:Entrance difficult to find. Access to room via lobby, which was difficult to open.

Review 47:Very good breakfast. Architecturally interesting building.

Review 48:Very hot during visit, was unusual but could have done with more fans or air con

Review 49:Central location

Review 50:No kettle in the room

Review 51:Central location right next to pedestrian precinct

Review 52:pleasant city, nice hotel

Review 53:The bedside cabinets need drawers.

Review 54:The whole experience was gemutlich

Review 55:Easy to park the car. They recomended a fantastic Bavarian style restaurant

Review 56:The spread was very good and generous!

Review 57:Everything. Nice clean big threebeds room/ apartment. Bathtube.Excellent breakfast. The best I had in a long time.t

Review 58:Rooms like early 90's in Poland. Terrible "old" smell. Recommend to search anything else for that price.

Review 59:Location

Review 60:having to pay for the parking

Review 61:nice layout and centrally located within the town centre, staff friendly and welcoming

Review 62:Noise (very very loud electric tools) from the builders in the room next door started at 08:00 in the morning, waking us up. This is unacceptable: Either ensure that building work starts no earlier than check out time (10:00) or don't sell the room! When mentioned to the receptionist, all we got was a shrug of the shoulders ... not what you'd hope for. We'll take our money elsewhere in the future! As some constructive criticism, some decent signs showing the way to the hotel from the Nikolai public car park would be good - we were looking for about 20 minutes for the entrance!

Review 63:Breakfast was great. Receptionist at check in was friendly and helpful. Room was spacious and comfortable.

Review 64:Very friendly reception, big room with large windows and extra sofa plus a big desk to work at if required. The breakfast was excellent with a large choice. The hotel is in the middle of the town, close to shopping and old town square. Parking is under hotel in public garage, secure and not expensive overnight.

Review 65:My daughter and I were using Osnabruck as an overnight stopping point while making train connections to get us back to Copenhagen and our flight home to Canada. Nikolai seemed to offer us that opportunity. It was only a short distance from train station. Surprisingly we found ourselves in a nice, central part of the city. It made for a very enjoyable, though brief stay. Everything about the hotel provided us with comfort and convenience. The staff was especially excellent. We definitely felt we received first-class treatment at breakfast.

Review 66:No A/C, ventilation

Review 67:Exceptional location. There is car parking in the cellar (paid). The hotel features an exceptional breakfast for this type of hotel/price range. Some rooms are redecorated, and quite nice, others are a bit out of fashion - but not worn out. For such a central location, it is reasonably quiet.

Review 68:A little noise from traffic. More severe: Free internet should be justas natural as free water from the tap. The directions on the booking.compage says 8EUR/hour - way too expensive!!! It turned out, however, that Telekom has an citywide offer for 5EUR/day. Much more fair, butthese days internet should really be included in the price! For thisreason I will not recommend the hotel to anybody with a business needfor internet until this is naturally included in the price andinfrastructure.

Review 69:Very nice staff, rooms, location and breakfast

Review 70:Entrance. Not obvious entrance, particularly as there is a bridge with the hotel sign above and a welcome sign on the other side of a bolted closed gate. Very average hotel considering the rate compared to similar hotels in the country.

Review 71:Breakfast was good.

Review 72:If you are looking for the modern, forget this. This is a clean oldworld late 60-70 style of accommodation. Room large clean but the decorburn orange and red needs to be updated to a more neutral pallet andthis would be more welcoming

Review 73:The location was great. Outside impressions could be very off putting, however once you negotiated the strange entry it was a welcomingestablishment.

Review 74:Not a typical hotel, part of a housing development but very large roomand the proximity to the centre of town made this a good place to stay.Good breakfast and again all very clean.

Review 75:Noise from traffic can be a problem. The hotel does not have private parking facilities, although car park is easily accessable as it is directly beneath hotel, but this is not included in hotel rate.

Review 76:Excellent location, in the centre of Osnabruck.

Review 77:To hot in the room

Review 78:Location Restaurant open at a decent hour

Review 79:noisy street in the night

Review 80:good location to go shopping

Review 81:the heating system didn't worked in the first 2 days and some of the personal that works at the reception they can not speak English

Review 82:n/a

Review 83:very good overall

Review 84:shower was weird addition to a bathtub

Review 85:Location, room size, bathroom size.

Review 86:No free Wi-fi My room with window facing pubic area meant I had to shut curtains for privacy.

Review 87:Design of building

Review 88:Room was tired and very dated. Street was fairly noisy, entrance very poorly lit.

Review 89:Breakfast

Review 90:It was terrible because of the noice on the street although I asked to get a quiet room.

Review 91:Too loud. Traffic Noise terrible

Review 92:Very friendly staff

Review 93:The room is large. Located in central, it was very comfortable.
