Reviews for Historik Hotel Gotisches Haus garni
Review 1:There was nothing bad at all.
Review 2:The location was perfect for the Xmas market. The Hotel was beautiful and had everything you could need. The breakfast was delicious and included egg cooked to your liking, smoked salmon and even Champagne! The staff were very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble. The decor was wonderful.
Review 3:If you like a characteristic structure in a great location to visit the city, this is for you. It's quite expensive but it's 50 meters far from the MarketPlatz in a quiet road, it offers a good service, the staff is friendly and the room was very spacious and well equipped.
Review 4:Parking can be difficult to find during Christmas markets, as the hotel has no parking of its' own.
Review 5:Fantastic decorations make you feel like you're in another era. Everything felt magical, from the friendly staff and delicious breakfast, to the comfortable beds and the charming rooms. Absolutely great stay!
Review 6:Maybe a little far walking from the train station (with a roller suitcase!) but that's minor. Great place to stay!
Review 7:This place has a lot of charm and it's close to everything you want to see. The rooms were spacious and clean. Breakfast was excellent. I loved the big bathroom with a bathtub. Nice hotel in a cute town that's perfect for relaxing!
Review 8:My sister and I do NOT recommend this hotel. We arrived late and exhausted and the man checking us in charged us $20 Eros for $3.00usd bottle of wine and tried to overcharge me twice while I was checking out. This hotel is highly overrated.
Review 9:Didn't like anything about this hotel except the location was good.
Review 10:Did not realize it was a B&B. Would like to have had a restaurant there, but there were numerous restaurants in the area.
Review 11:The welcome feeling we got with our stay. Location was wonderful, room was very charming and appropriate for a stay in a German village.
Review 12:Parking may be the only item since it is limited in the town
Review 13:Good place to stay in Rothenburg. Enjoyed ataying at an old hotel charm, but updated just enough to enjoy what we are used to.
Review 14:Great location, quiet even though just steps from the main square. It's a very charming, comfortable, nicely restored small hotel. A friendly and helpful gentleman greeted us upon our arrival and explained that parking is available on the same street only steps away. Our room was cozy, small but manageable, and looked down on the lovely street below.
Review 15:Everything was excellent. We stayed in 10 hotels during our trip and this was one of our top 2 stays. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Building is nearly 700 years old and is beautiful. Room was exactly as shown in photos. Breakfast was great. You can order eggs cooked to your liking. We loved it!
Review 16:Shame on anyone who post something negative
Review 17:Everything. Omg the bathroom was just as big as the bedroom. This is a 600 year old building with perfect restoration. We were on vacation in Europe for one month and this was the cream of the crop.
Review 18:No bad experience with the hotel....just a very hard city to drive in, park and even figure out how to get into the wall!
Review 19:Beautiful old building but room and bathroom totally up to date! Wish we could have stayed another day to enjoy the comforts and explore the city!
Review 20:Location is excellent. Helpful and caring staff. Rooms are well equipped, nicely decorated, comfortable, everything works properly. Very good breakfast. Check in/check out are quick and easy.
Review 21:I didn't like leaving Rothenburg! If you are only English speaking please know that you won't find very many English speaking people, but those that do are helpful. All the staff at the hotel spoke some English.
Review 22:Wonderful owner Axel was very friendly and accommodating. The staff was also great and the hotel is very historical with beautiful wood beams, floors, etc. If you like history ask Axel about some of the hotel's history. The location was very convenient yet quiet at night.
Review 23:Smoke in lobby.
Review 24:Excellent location and friendly staff. The hotel itself is beautiful, the room was lovely and the bathroom luxuriously large and well equipped. Wonderful morning breakfast with cold and hot offerings. Parking with pass for 5 euro across the street!
Review 25:We were so excited to see a ceiling fan in our room. There was a terrible heat wave and there wasn't any fans in any of the other places we stayed. But it only ran about an hour at a time so we had to get up all night to keep turning it back on.
Review 26:The owner spent time with us telling us the history of this 700 year old building. We could walk the entire village from the hotel. It was beautifully preserved of the old parts with the updates that made it comfortable without compromising the historical parts. The breakfast was wonderful.
Review 27:None
Review 28:The location is perfect for shopping, viewing the wonderful city, and walking the wall. The hotel is small, but very well maintained, and the staff, breakfast, and furnishings are perfect for a 700 year old hotel. We loved the charm and history of this place!
Review 29:Breakfast was served by a sour waitress. It must be done better when we return . . .
Review 30:The hotel is located in beautiful old building that has been renovated to the old style. The hotel offers Buffet breakfast, consumed the ground floor in a cozy setting. Breakfast offers everything for the guest, so there is something for everyone. The hotel also has outdoor seating to the small hunger, cake, coffee, beer and so on. There is no restaurant, but try to eat diagonally opposite the Meistertrunk Restaurant, located in Hotel BurgGartenpalais where in the garden are served the best food with wonderful service. Our room was lovely with beautiful large bathroom. We had the best night's sleep without being able to hear the many church bells. The hotel is highly recommended. We'll return.
Review 31:Perhaps best to avoid the Taubertal rock festival in early August! Many approach roads to Rothenburg were closed off, and it was busier and noisier than normal. Fortunately, the 'music' didn't go on too late.
Review 32:The room (suite) in the roof was fabulous (and huge), with its own balcony and extensive views including the city walls and stork nests, and a very welcome ceiling fan (it was 32C+ during our visit). The staff were all very friendly and helpful. Car parking is available nearby.
Review 33:Lovely little hotel in a fantastic location. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The weatger was hot and it was great to have a ceiling fan above our bed,
Review 34:As with any old hotel there is no air conditioning so on hot days it can be very hot on the upper floors of the hotel
Review 35:Historic hotel is correct. You feel the authentic atmosphere.
Review 36:Our room didn't have a safe which would've been helpful and of course no air conditioning but we had a ceiling fan
Review 37:Being in the centre of the old town of Rothenburg was incredible. the hotel, originally built in the 13th century has been modernised but really took us back to the past. Breakfast was great parking was just across the road and the staff very helpful A tremendous experience
Review 38:Far side of town from train station.
Review 39:The amazing historical architecture still present but with modern comforts. Even without ac it was nice with open windows and fans. Staff is great and breakfast very good. Excellent location.
Review 40:We were welcomed by Axel, our friendly, helpful host, to this historical building which has been beautifully modernized. Our room had a large bathroom with a big tub and comfortable bed. Exposed wood beams and original floor boards gave it authentic charm. Hotel is perfectly situated within the walls near the heart of this quaint, old town. Great shopping, excellent restaurants and lovely vistas are within steps of the hotel. Breakfast was delicious. Extraordinarily good value for the reasonable price! Thank you for such a lovely stay.
Review 41:Our saddest moment in Rothenburgh was checking out.
Review 42:I could right a novel about this property. The hotel is the perfect mate for Rothenburg, as it too is like a time machine, exquisitly decorated and comfortable. We enjoyed lounging in the room as much as walking the town.
Review 43:There is no restaurant in the hotel for dinner, but there are many options within a few blocks.
Review 44:I'm a sucker for old buildings, and this one fits the bill. Stayed in one of the 'Explorer' rooms, with thick walls, beamed ceiling, and a huge tiled bathroom with a tub. Very comfortable and cool -- despite temps in the 90s, the room was cool (gotta love those thick walls). Perfect location only a short walk from the middle of town, lovely cafe seating outside, friendly and helpful owner and staff. Good breakfast (including eggs, if you want). Felt very private and special - our windows overlooked the main street, but Rothenburg is a quiet, quiet town. We stayed for two days, and enjoyed every moment in town.
Review 45:The location was fantastic. It was right in the center of the city, a short walk to everything in Rothenburg. The hotel staff were very good, especially the gracious breakfast hostess, who allowed us to begin our breakfast earlier than scheduled. The breakfast was great, every kind of fresh fruit imaginable, freshly prepared eggs of your choice, freshly baked breads, cheeses and meats. The room was comfortable and clean, fresh sheets. The large modern bathroom had a towel warmer, lighted makeup mirror and double sinks. The hotel was a historic building with lots of charm at a very reasonable price. I would highly recommend this hotel and would certainly stay here again if in Rothenburg.
Review 46:The free wifi is the town wifi and kept dropping out and had poor reception in the room. I could see the hotel had one but when I asked about the wifi was directed to the free town one.
Review 47:The location is perfect and close you everything, the hotel is charming.
Review 48:The one small fault, I almost hate to mention it, the water was just hot enought on 3rd floor, but could have been a little hotter.
Review 49:Wonderful old hotel, nice ambience, beautiful furnishings and excellent convenience to everything. Breakfast of fresh cooked eggs, lox and herring, very wide selection of fresh fruit were a wonderful surprise and all inclusive too! Had a beer there in cozy dining lounge, fair price!
Review 50:This hotel was in a nice location in town and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Our room like the rest of the hotel was very quaint but the bathroom was very modern and nice.
Review 51:No air conditioning and the ceiling fan was on a timer that you had no control over. It shut off every two hours. The room became very warm even with a window open. The television did not work, so we just did not use it, nor did we report it to the owner. If we had, I am sure he would have replaced it.
Review 52:The quaint room was charming and the staff very accommodating. Breakfast was excellent and the location was perfect.
Review 53:Beautifully renovated historic building in the very heart of the old city, large room with a huge bathroom, wooden floors and period furniture. Excellent breakfast, including many types of fresh bread, real fruit juice and even smoked salmon, in a luxurious hall. Parking across the street costs 5E/2 days. Very helpful English speaking staff.
Review 54:A 700 year old hotel full of atmosphere in the middle of the old town - what's not to like? Spacious comfortable room with modern bathroom. Helpful staff.
Review 55:We would appreciate a mini-bar that was lacking.
Review 56:The host that attended us was very nice and helpful; The hotel is as the photos, very medieval; The breakfast was very good, we even could make our own orange juice if we wanted: müsli, scrambled eggs, wurst etc; There was even a very cool slipper for use in the room.
Review 57:No shower curtain around soaking tub so that water was all over the floor after a shower.
Review 58:Room size was very large as was the bathroom. Soaking tub was a welcome treat after traveling many days. Room decor fit well with the medieval city. Lovely breakfast and wait staff very good.
Review 59:We arrived at 6pm after a long drive in snow from Nuremburg. Axel at the front desk greeted us with a warm welcome and handshake! We had 2 rooms on the second floor which were beautiful and spotless!! The breakfast was good the next morning also. The building is a perfect blend of old world charm and elegance! We loved it!!
Review 60:Beautiful hotel, right in The heart of Rothenburg. The room os very comfortable, The breakfast is really good and The staff is great. Very, very good.
Review 61:Parking was hit and miss but once you had found a spot it was good value.
Review 62:The staff were excellent and the rooms were clean and very well presented. Beautiful bathroom. Good choice of food for breakfast. Nicely located for the centre of town
Review 63:nothing, it was perfect.
Review 64:The location of this wonderful gem is perfect. The town is small and walkable, this hotel is centrally located. Good breakfast. Great internet. Spacious rooms, renovated so they offer great comfort but kept the old charm to it.
Review 65:Location is great for a person with difficulty to walk. Many restaurants and shops near the hotel. The building is old (but renovated) but has a small elevator. Bath tab is big and they supplied a chair for convenience,
Review 66:Watch out for the parking around the hotel. Parking is limited within the town and we hear that there may be the chance that more spaces will become fee paying. The wardens get up early there. The hotel has some concessions but I suspect they may be limited in future.
Review 67:Very friendly owner despite it being towards the end of the summer season. A well situated hotel that was ideal for the town. The restaurant was closed at the time but we were recommended an excellent place just around the corner where the locals eat. The decorations were appropriate to the age of the building and everything worked.
Review 68:internet reception poor
Review 69:Very accommodating staff and a super breakfast. Our room was very pretty and had a super double bath and its own small balcony area.
Review 70:Wonderful medieval feel with lots of character yet modern in comforts. Staff very helpful in providing shopping advise and directed us to a very good Franconian restaurant. The souvenir store even gave us a "Canadian" discount. The location is perfect and breakfast had lots of choice
Review 71:Fantastic breakfast - scrambled eggs, smoked salmon even Bucks Fizz!!! An amazing medieval building with great charm. Excellent location and parking across the street.
Review 72:I stayed for 2 nights and not 3
Review 73:Rothenburg was amazing and this hotel added to it in every way possible. Without saying too much (because every aspect was perfect) the breakfast was superb, beds extremely comfortable, staff helpful, location prime, and the best part of all was the look of lobby and our room - very romantic and had the old look\feel you'd want in a town such as this!
Review 74:Everything was fine. Will stay here if we return to Rothenburg.
Review 75:Breakfast excellent, location could not be better. In keeping with the spirit of medieval times.
Review 76:Nothing.
Review 77:Loved the location, just a few steps from the center of town. The staff was very nice and hospitable. We really enjoyed the entire experience. Thank you!
Review 78:All good. Mini bar - not clear first soft drink complimentary, so chose small bottle of wine. Were recompensed.
Review 79:Lovely room with historic feel, superb large modern bathroom. Best breakfast of our trip. Friendly helpful staff. very good location near Christmas shop!
Review 80:That we only stayed one day! The breakfast could have been better. There was a single waiter who also had to take care of guests checking out. She was clearly overworked and had not the time to replenish the buffet.
Review 81:Original medieval building renovated with careful attention to detail. Large room with a wonderful balcony (ours had a view over a nest of storks!). The bathroom was spacious and the bathtub for two people was a dream. Welcoming atmosphere.
Review 82:Right in the middle of historic Rothenburg. Beautiful traditional rooms with sitting area and large bathroom. Ours had a balcony too. Hotel in the historic area inside the wall so walking distance around town.
Review 83:Parking was more than indicated in the booking.com website. You need tofind a public parking space on the street (just across the street) whichare limited. Once you find a space you must feed the meter duringbusiness hours for a Euro per hours for 9 hours. However I wouldn'tlet this minor detail change my recommendation to stay here.
Review 84:What's not to like? The location was only a block or two to the town"square" and right in the middle of the shops and restaurantsas well as all the historic sights. Of all the places I traveled inGermany durning my month of travel there, the staff here were the mostaccommodating, friendly and hard working of them all. Special thanks tothe young woman (wish I jotted down her name because I don'tremember) who fixed our eggs the way we liked them, kept us full ofcoffee and tea at the same time she was setting up the outdoor cafétables for the day! Breakfast was great with a wide selection of itemsall in a rustic comfy setting. The rooms were very comfortable and thebathroom was spacious and modern but keeping with the rustic charm.
Review 85:A few things let the hotel down for us. The lift shaft and lift itself reeked strongly of damp which made returning to our room unpleasant each time. There was not enough space for our clothes (perhaps because most people stay one night only). We had to keep clothes in our suitcases. The room was slightly smaller than we expected and there was no air-con. Some noise from street.
Review 86:Overall we were happy. Beds were comfortable, bathroom large (though enormous corner bath unwieldy for showers), fresh towels each day. Breakfasts were fine. Good view from room across the town roof-scape.
Review 87:Nothing. We were 100% happy with everything.
Review 88:Absolutely loved this hotel. Was like going back in time. Our room (30) had amazing views from the outside balcony. Staff very helpful. Food delicious. The hotel blended in with the history of Rothenburg. Can't wait to stay again!
Review 89:No air conditioning
Review 90:Medieval building, decoration and furniture. Right at the city center Easy and cheap street parking Breakfast Fantastic bathroom
Review 91:The hotel was in a beautifully decorated historic building of Rothenburg. The location could not be beat, as it is right off the main square and steps from the castle garden. The room was small, but not uncomfortable. The breakfast was great and they even cooked eggs to order. There was a small elevator to bring our luggage to our 3rd floor room. Rothenburg was our favorite part of our Germany trip!
Review 92:The only real negative was the huge tub in the bathroom - if you wanted to use the shower, you tended to wet down the entire room. Also, although it not needed too often, there is no air conditioning so it was necessary to leave the window open since our room was at the top of the building - in a heat wave, I imagine it would be very stuffy. Luckily, it was cool during our stay!
Review 93:The location is wonderful - it is just down the street from Kathie Wolfhart shops and the town square. You can easy walk everywhere from here and there was street parking available a few steps away. The room was large, the bathroom as well, very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was wonderful each morning. There is a mini bar and wifi, which wasn't the best, but it mostly worked. There is also a small elevator so getting your bags up three flights was not a problem. A great location for exploring the town.
Review 94:Great experience from the moment we arrived; warm welcome from Gunther on the front desk, beautiful olde world room, located in the middle of the old town..... Wonderful.
Review 95:Not cheap, but worth most of the money
Review 96:A 700 years old building, very well designed. Excellent centeral location. Breakfast was very good
Review 97:Friendly, clean comfortable, great breakfast.
Review 98:The Staff was very friendly and most helpful. Room 34, attic suite, is spacious and quite comfortable. Breakfast was plentiful with good variety.
