Reviews for Altstadt Hotel zur Post Stralsund
Review 1:the room hadn't been made up on our arrival - the manager was shocked and apologetic and it was remedied immediately but it would have been nice to have been able to shower before going out to eat
Review 2:we had the studio which was rather warm on a hot summer night but very well equipped and comfortable. It was very quiet although the hotel was busy
Review 3:We had to open the window because the room was to warm for sleeping, and then we had quite some noice from the street. The price to pay to live sentral.
Review 4:Clean and nice room. Very sentral. Easy to walk to everything you need.
Review 5:The windows of the room are very old and almost broken.
Review 6:Location. Close to everything - transportation, restaurant, shops etc.. And it was easy to find this hotel since it's located by post office.
Review 7:Shame the bar never seemed to be open, but there are plenty of alternatives on the New market Square.
Review 8:Great corner room. Plenty of space and very comfortable. Well located in the old part of Stralsund. Easy walk to everything.
Review 9:It is not exactly a bad experience, but it is a major annoyance. No free wi-fi. You can buy a one-day access card from Telekom for 5 Euros. This is highway robbery and it only allows you to log on with one device at a time. I suspect that Telekom, which is very dominant in Germany, has convinced hotels to use this confiscatory deal for a share of the profits. I would not go here again unless they offered free wi-fi like most hotels now do.
Review 10:The location could not be better, right on one of the two market places in town. The breakfast (for which there is an extra charge) is excellent and varied. There is parking, for a fee, in an underground garage. Service was quick and friendly.
Review 11:Moments from St Mary's Church ("the Mighty") and the Neue Markt, the hotel is a great simple base from which to explore the UNESCO heritage-listed sights of Stralsund.
Review 12:A nice little hotel situated very close to Stralsund city centre. Rooms were large, comfortable and very clean. I can definitely recommend it as a good hotel for a very reasonable price
Review 13:Large room, quiet central location, minibar with champagne glasses, everything was perfect, one of the best hotel rooms we ever stayed for this price (75€), large parking lot 50 m close by and free on the weekend
Review 14:- The people working in the reception were not super friendly. - Cleaning ladies were shouting in the corridor very early in the morning.
Review 15:- Very clean rooms with nice facilities - Great location
Review 16:You have to pay for wi fi 4.90 euro for 24 hrs. If you're a lightsleeper the church clock chimes every quarter hour.
Review 17:Great central location. Parking underneath hotel. Staff helpful. Goodbreakfast. Value for money 3 star quality hotel.
Review 18:I had a room under the rooftop with a superb view on the dome. I pulled the curtains aside and with that was able to look at this intimidating building from my bed – know now what the purpose of these building was/is: show man how small he is in comparison with the Almighty!
Review 19:Parking Charge. 8 Euro. If you arrive by car you inevitably bring morebusiness - a hotel should not penalise people for arriving with theirown transport. Breakfast Charge. £8 is too steep - you can get somethingreasonable a few minutes walk away. View over car park entrance/service access was disappointing but though the hotel's situation isvery central I doubt whether any room have particularly good views.
Review 20:Bath. Rooms with bath are at a premium throughout Europe now. Thebathroom was a reasonable size. Room was comfortable. A tiny bit tired.Fortunate to be cooler than previous weeks and perfectly habitable withwindow open.
Review 21:No warm water for a shower one morning and no explanation why. An uncomfortable bed, and could hear church bells every quarter of an hour - not exactly fault of hotel though!
Review 22:The location was excellent and everything within walking distance. The rooms big with nice decor. Everything was very clean.
Review 23:having to pay for wi-fi
Review 24:right in the town centre; large room with plenty of space; a good choice for breakfast; on site parking (although you do have to pay for it - but not much)
Review 25:It seems I got the same towels I had 16 years ago, now threadbare and hard; the curtain had holes in them; we asked for a walk in shower, only one such room - my cousin got it; service good, unless you are there when there is some soccer game, then - you might as well drop dead and still wont get any attention: I asked to get an explanation for train service (I don't read German) the guy showed me the train schedule, posted on the wall, and disappeared.
Review 26:breakfast, and breakfast rooms. Room size. GREAT location in the city, Nice view to the market place and the church. Close to one of the best restaurants in Stralsund, The Brasserie. Don't miss it!
Review 27:No free Wi-Fi, water in shower is either ice cold or inferno hot.
Review 28:Perfect location, friendly and kind staff.
Review 29:Location. Value for money.
Review 30:De had a rooftop room in summer without AC. Very likely it works well in winter.
Review 31:Great location and friendly staff.
Review 32:None
Review 33:The hotel is located in the center of this lovely town
Review 34:The room was small, I believe definitely not the size it was advertised.
Review 35:Very central location, 24h reception
Review 36:Annoying to have to pay for wifi. Breakfast at €12 is extortionate.
Review 37:Good location in a great city, attractive building and spacious rooms.
Review 38:Location - in the center of the old town. Parking.
Review 39:A detail, but they charged for use of WiFi
Review 40:Nice staff and super room quality
Review 41:no resturant or bar on a sunday night
Review 42:good room and organised well.
Review 43:No Free WiFi, this costs 4,95 per day
Review 44:Very comfortable room. Excellent bed.
Review 45:The staff was really friendly and helpful. Breakfast was fab.
Review 46:Nice, big, comfortable, clean room. Breakfast was in a hotel around the corner - absolutely excellent buffet!
Review 47:It would have been nice to have a kettle and an iron in the room.
Review 48:Location, simplicity
Review 49:the location is perfect, the rooms are comfortable and big enough and you can ask for one with a bath tub
Review 50:Location i central town
Review 51:All was good!!!
Review 52:All round great!!
Review 53:Refrigerator was noisy to annoy for my sleeping.
Review 54:Its really convenience center location of the city.
Review 55:No ac in summer is not bareable.
Review 56:No wifi. Dreary lobby area not so welcoming. Needs a face lift.
Review 57:Adjacent to new town square. Parking in basement albeit at 8 eurosfor 24 hours.
Review 58:Parkin place in the hotel. Breakfast.
Review 59:We wish they would have had a less expensive breakfast choice for thoseof us who only want coffee and rolls...not meat and cheese. The wificosts 5 euros/24 hours (telekom) and one day it hardlyworked...Telekom's problem. Also, it would be nice to have laundryservice. Bring your own shampoo. The carpeting is old (but clean) and ifup-dated, it would make the hotel look much younger and more attractiveinside. BUT...it is an excellent value, and maybe we would lose thatprice if made snazzier.
Review 60:The location is excellent, our room was large and very comfortable, withgood reading lights and a very nice bathroom. Nice mini-bar, safe, windows that open. It just felt good.
Review 61:They charge 4.5€ for 24h of poor internet connection. They also charge for extra towels (by default there is only a small thin towel per person). This is quite stingy given the high prices of the rooms.
Review 62:The location was fantastic, the room was very nice. It has bicycle parking.
Review 63:The scrum at breakfast, with unhelpful staff. The hotel was seemingly fully booked and there were few seats available - it took quite a while for the staff to find place for the 4 of us. One of the receptionists did not take into consideration that my German was very rusty, she continued speaking with her local accent at full speed. Very polished with no warmth.
Review 64:Proximity to one of the town squares. Good parking on the square - free after 6pm. Price and the size of rooms. Comfort of the rooms. Breakfast - something for everyone, with English, continental and German choices. Ample food also. Stralsund! Get town and area for a short break.
Review 65:The staff, although they spoke English better than my German, were quite vague about everything. 9pm was "too late" to eat in the restaurant, and no alternative was offered. In such a large hotel I expect to at least get a snack from room service at any time - but no. The top floor has a utility room with some loud machinery inside, clearly audible from down the corridor, but mercifully this is switched off at around 11pm every night. Then there are the charges; almost everything in the room, apart from the TV, towels and soap dispensers, has a price tag attached. Even the Wi-Fi is extra! For a not-exactly-cheap stay I didn't feel like I was getting great value for money. It was not terrible, but I was left wondering how this hotel had such a high booking.com score...?
Review 66:The Altstadt Hotel zur Post offered a good level of comfort and cleanliness for such a large hotel, and is in a good central location.
Review 67:Noise of driving cars. This is a central old town location, but car traffic is possible. In combination with cobblestone surface of the street it makes sleep harder. Ask for a room with back window, if possible.
Review 68:Location by the one of the main squares. Special room for bikes in the underground parking. We left the jacket in the hotel and personel was very helpfull in finding it, they proposed to send it back to PL. Hemingway bar, hmm... looks like a dream of postmodern architect, but the fact is it is the only place in Old Town to have a drink after 11PM.
Review 69:The breakfast room was too small - not enough tables. They have a small extra room with a few tables for 6 but that was also not enough. (The bathroom has an automatic ventilation system which goes on immediately when you switch the lights on and then stays on for several minutes - kind of annoying, but not a big deal of course.)
Review 70:This was my second stay at this hotel, which is really very nice. Perfect location, nice view, nice room with a good size bathroom.
Review 72:The location is excellent, the rooms are clean and very comfortable. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely come back.
Review 73:A bit far from the train station especially if you have heavy luggage, but not really a big problem
Review 74:The hotel was clean and comfortable. Close to all the sights in Stralsund.
Review 75:The water in the shower was very difficult to get right temperature, it was either extremely hot or freezing cold. The reason was probably that our room was on top floor and in the end.
Review 76:Spacious rooms. Very good breakfast.Location is perfect.
Review 77:No radio in room, just tv. Most good hotels nowadays have radios orradio reception via the tv.
Review 78:Very good bathroom -- very large and with an easily-accessible walk-inshower. Perfect for older people with limited mobility! Also: very nice and safe bicycle parking, lots of tourist information around.
Review 79:Location, cleanliness, room on top floor amongst the gables had alot of charm and yet still posh. Will definitely stay again.
Review 80:Could'nt fault anything.
Review 81:Good value for price. Seemed like a up market hotel.
Review 82:Pleasant and cheerful. Easy access to everything.
Review 83:Great central location on one of the main squares with restaurants and parking nearby. Inexpensive yet very clean and comfortable.
Review 84:Only a limited set menue.
Review 85:Walking distance to harbour, shops and places of interest. parking in the same building. Nice breakfast
Review 86:Wifi very spotty even though you pay for it
Review 87:Big bathrooms!
Review 88:central location and parking arrangements
Review 89:Central location.
Review 90:Smell from cigarette smoke from ventilation. No gym.
Review 91:Garage for our bikes. Lady at reception good at English.
Review 92:Staff response, no free wifi.
Review 93:Location, breakfast, price.
Review 94:A lovely hotel in the old centre of this beautiful town. Good facilities and friendly staff.
Review 95:very friendly and helpful staff excellent breakfast
Review 96:For the price, there is nothing to dislike!
Review 97:Helpful staff
Review 98:Unreliable wifi. They need to install more routers.
Review 99:Great hotel. Well located in town and with large clean rooms.
Review 100:Hotel is located in stricly center. Excellent breakfast
Review 101:comfortable bed lovely bathroom
Review 102:no particular comments
Review 103:In spite of serious attempts we did not manage to find restaurants with a rasonable level of quality.
Review 104:Very central location in a lovely, UNESCO-listed city; spacious room, friendly service, very good breakfast
Review 105:No internet
Review 106:Nice location
Review 107:---
Review 108:professional and friendly staff, cosy room, comfortable bathroom
Review 109:Too soft beds was not perfect for a bad back.
Review 110:Comfort, locationand price was very good. Very good parking.
Review 111:A very pleasant stay. If we go back to Stralsund we will stay at this hotel again.
