Reviews for Hotel Garni Bären

Review 1:Lovely old style hotel. Only a few minutes walk from the Old Town and from the Railway Station(the Station is frequented by undesirables). The hotel provides an excellent breakfast and there is a very popular Ristorante Caruso near the Hotel for lunch and dinner.

Review 2:Breakfast: OK. Slow coffee machine that DOES NOT MAKE COFFEE: only espresso, cappuccino, chocochino, all kinds of flavored stuff but NO simple coffee. Breakfast starts 06:30; by 08:00 food trays picked over and not replenished. HAMMER POUNDING and DRILLING on room wall during MORNING and AFTERNOON. NO HOT SHOWERS, only lukewarm. Are you kidding me!?? 86 euros/night and NO HOT SHOWER!??! WiFi SUCKED. Very slow and some YouTube vids and entertainment websites BLOCKED. Multiple, redundant Authentications required. 2 of my 3 devices could not access the WiFi from my room or dining room, only from the corridor. Complete all time-critical online tasks before checking into Hotel Garni Bären.

Review 3:Friendly, helpful staff, nice room and ensuite bath.

Review 4:Had to walk to centre to find good eating places (only 10 mins).

Review 5:Staff very helpful, room good, the breakfast was lovely and breakfast room was full of character.

Review 6:The bathroom had noch blind or frosted glass, could do with regrouting

Review 7:Great location, nice lobby area and lange rooms, friendly staff, yummy breakfast

Review 8:-room was facing the main road. really noise . -room was haunted. very uncomfortable to live in. -bathroom is a shocker. showerhead wasn't working. -TV is too small, too far from bed. -breakfast was not fresh at all. ham was sweating. not sure how they cooked the eggs. so disgusting.

Review 9:nothing that i like about this hotel

Review 10:No restaurant in house.

Review 11:This was a very comfortable hotel with friendly helful staff. Breakfast was very good. Hotel has a lift. The hotel is located on a busy intersection but we did not hear any noise with the windows closed. This could be an issue during warmer months. There is limited bar but no restaurant in this hotel but the old city is 5-10 minutes away by foot.

Review 12:The hotel is in a very good location, in walking distance to the train station. On request I got a quiet room where the traffic couldn't be heard. The breakfast was good, with everything one would ask for.

Review 13:Somewhat unstable wi-fi.

Review 14:A very good place to stay : what the germans call bürgerlich, which means old building, faintly squeezing floors , old heavy furniture, almost like a familyhouse with atmosphere from many decades ago.Breakfast of german type (that means good). And clean with up-to-date bathrooms. Close to city center. A good deal.

Review 15:The room was quite small, but still alright

Review 16:location was within easy walking distance of all major sights, events and good spots to eat. The bathroom was very nice.

Review 17:The furniture is a bit dated and the wifi connectivity was quite weak in our room.

Review 18:Very reasonably priced and just a short walk from the town centre. Very nice staff and a jolly good breakfast.

Review 19:Parking can be a challenge but we were lucky and got a free spot directly in front of the hotel (only 3 spots). Other "free" parking within 100-200 mtrs. The hotel also offers parking at a nearby parkhaus for a nominal fee.

Review 20:Breakfast was excellent with hot scrambled eggs and the most tasty bacon, perfectly cooked! Plenty of offerings!

Review 21:That the glass door closes early and I was locked out of the hotel. Also, the breakfast was pretty poor.

Review 22:Location was fantastic and the staff were really helpful and kind.

Review 23:Bed was very uncomfortable, particularly the pillows. Only one bottle of water provided per room, not per person as advertised in the hotel brochure. No bottle opener for the water which meant the receptionist had to enter our private space.

Review 24:Spacious room in a hotel conveniently close to the train station and the pretty town centre. Decor outdated but quaint. Good wellness oasis with fitness equipment and lots of space.

Review 25:Hotel Garni Bären was a one night stop during a three week summer European trip. It is located near the centre of Feldkirch, Austria. It is a short walk to the centre market place, where there are many restaurants serving good food in the evening; and where fresh food/flowers/meat plus many other items can be bought from colourful market stalls that filled the market place from early morning.

Review 26:There was a shower gel dispenser in the shower but it would be nice to have small shampoo and conditioner bottles.

Review 27:Stayed in Baren hotel prior to a wedding and would definitely recommend it to others. Room was s good size and very comfortable.

Review 28:We stayed during a heat wave and there is no air conditioning. Staff did provide a room fan which helped somewhat.

Review 29:Large room with separate sitting area. Close to train station and old town.

Review 30:Property was more than adequate Excellent breakfast Free wifi on all room types (new addition) Lobby was an area you would like to spend leisure/planning time in

Review 31:we had luck that right when i wanted to search for parking, one car left from the free parking next to hotel. otherwise it is hard to find free parking when you don't want to pay 5-8€ for night

Review 32:big room, great breakfast nice location and even nicer that is so close to Vaduz. Calm neighborhood even the hotel looks like it is positioned on rush crossroads We really enjoyed staying here

Review 33:Noisy. There was trafic all night long and, as it was hot and we had to sleep with the windows open, the noise was disappointing.

Review 34:walk in distance from the center. Good breakfast.

Review 35:On a very busy road, although rooms were pretty quiet.

Review 36:Good location a short walk from station and a short stroll to the old town. Room was a good size with very comfortable bed (we had a business room which also had free wifi. Beautiful breakfast. Value for money.

Review 37:There was no air conditioning and only a fan in my room. It was almost too hot and stuffy to handle. I was given outdated information from reception. The room was left unlocked after cleaning and there was underwear left in a corner of the room from a previous guest. Only wifi in the lobby. Definitely not worth the money. Not a pleasant stay.

Review 38:It is located close to the train station and in the center. The staff were friendly and the breakfasts were great!

Review 39:Thick walls and wi-fi aren't the best partners - but there was plenty of reception areas to sit in where the wi-fi did work.

Review 40:Really nice hotel, lots of space, friendly staff and a really good breakfast. Only a short walk from the center This place was really good value for money - I'd thoroughly recommend it.

Review 41:It was over 85 degrees Fahrenheit and raining, storming. There was a fanin the room that made it a convection oven unless the window wasopened.. Many trucks and loud street noise that weren't a problem ifwindow was closed. If fan was plugged in, not enough outlets to chargephone and tablet. Room was basic but the cost was higher than mostplaces I stayed. Bed only ok.

Review 42:The location is close (easy walk) to train station. The staff wasfriendly and helpful.Breakfast was good.

Review 43:None, just wish the front desk had adapters to loan, as different countries in Europe have not only different currents, but different wall sockets. These are all recessed, and so require a particular kind of adapter. I bought one from the desk for ten euro, pretty steep.

Review 44:I had a roomy single with a pretty, slanted wooden roof. The breakfast spread is impressive. Some rooms have wifi; if your doesn't, it is free in the lobby. Nice garden. Friendly, accommodating, multilingual staff.

Review 45:On previous trip some staff were perhaps not very understanding of non-german speakers and a little short. This time the was reception staff with good english who were most helpful.

Review 46:Good staff and excellent location. Easy walk from railway station. In the centre of town within easy reach of all historical sites and local attractions. Large spacious rooms and bathrooms. Excellent breakfast in room rate. Free parking if driving.

Review 47:The payment machine was down when I checked out. Thus can only pay in cash.

Review 48:This family earned hotel is located in the Main Street, we arrived at Feldkirch in late night but get the direction quickly walk to hotel. The decoration was both traditional and modern, and hotel staff is quite sweet. Breakfast is amazing also, with the canteen is super. I like the canteen so much.

Review 49:This is the only hotel I have ever come across that charges for bicycle storage - I hope others will refrain from from following suit!

Review 50:Very helpful staff; superb breakfast; spacious room

Review 51:The hotel restaurant was closed in the evening

Review 52:A comfortable hotel, easy to find with secure parking in the town centre, close to shops and restaurants.

Review 53:The bathroom was in some need of refreshing. I don't think it had been changed for 30 years or more. There were cigarette burns in the baisin and the seal on the bath had some black mould spots on it. Fresh fruit instead of tinned fruit at breakfast would have been welcome.

Review 54:not expensive and close to the centre of the town

Review 55:We were given an extra bed/sofa for my daughter but never received the linens for it, so had to share our blanket with her. Also, wifi only free in the lobby, not convenient when you wish to relax at night in your room.

Review 56:Very convenient to the train station and busses.

Review 57:Some internal and external noise, which did wake me a few times. In addition, on one night I got locked out due to the failure of my fob to open main door. I had to wait outside until someone else passed by the main door to let me in (no staff after 22:00)

Review 58:The staff were helpful and moved me to a quiet room after the initial one proved problematic. Very clean, free bottle of minterial water each was very nice too. Wifi worked perfectly assuming you choose a "business" room. Close to main station of Feldkirch (about 10mins walk).

Review 59:the opportunity to have a evening meal

Review 60:car parking was 8euros a day but well worth it considering the weather breakfast was great, room was clean and comfy and very warm

Review 61:Staff tolerated smoking everywhere in the reception area. It is the only area where you can pick up wifi and use the bar. Never seen in it any country in Europe. Very poor wifi reception in the room

Review 62:Decor Rich and tasty breakfast

Review 63:The mattress on the bed that I slept was too soft

Review 64:It is really well located and although it is on a main street crossroad if you get a good room you can enjoy peaceful sleep Clean easy & easy going staff.

Review 65:Poor room preparation (Room was not made after checking-in at 3.30pm; only 1 big towel despite 2 guests)

Review 66:Location Breakfast Parking Room size (double on the quiet side)

Review 67:No negatives, very positive stay.

Review 68:Very nice reception staff - thanks for the room upgrades! Breakfast was very good. One block away from Old Town. Sauna and steam rooms are like new - (give reception a 30 minute advance request to turn them on.)

Review 69:The wifi was very erratic and we were in a business room which is free wifi. Connection poor

Review 70:The location and reception staff very good. Secure parking.

Review 71:No significant issues, other than to note that had to go down to the reception area to access wifi.

Review 72:Great room, with good bathroom in a very nice traditional style somewhat dated but nice hotel, located within a few minutes walk to enter the old town centre. Really liked the restaurant where a great breakfast was provided.

Review 73:The fact reception closed so early (10pm) making late check in impossible and also no minibar/food machine drinks/food purchasing options after this time.

Review 74:Huge modern rooms. Staff were very accommodating - staying to work 20 minutes late to meet my train arrival time. I stay, on average, in 2 hotel rooms every week covering all budget and luxury levels. This is up there with one of the most memorable experiences and certainly the best in my 7 day trip to Austria (which included many posh 4 star chains), Breakfast was fantastic too.

Review 75:Room was big, but a little dingy.

Review 76:Loved the breakfast room with room-sized heater. Location was good. Feldkirch is a great stopover - good road connections

Review 77:Room was dark and furniture etc a bit outdated.

Review 78:Service of the receptionist was very good and friendly, breakfast offers good selection of cold cuts, sweets etc.

Review 79:WiFi wasn´t too strong, it only worked near the the door of your room. Limited space to park during check-in

Review 80:The staff was great and helpful! Good breakfast and good location in Feldkirch! Perfect with secure parking connected to the hotel via elevator.

Review 81:No Air con in rooms just a fan that circulated warm air! Our room faced a busy road so unable to have window open.

Review 82:It had character and charm. + underground parking a lovely place with great food.

Review 83:Bed too soft. Rooms could benefit from modern furniture (bathroom/bath tub/toilet)

Review 84:Staff caring to accommodate young children free of charge. Helpful and cheerful staff - warm welcome

Review 85:The hotel looks a bit run down on the outside, the breakfast is simple and often they don't replace empty trays.it is located on a big road but you don't hear anything, however it is not simple to cross the road...the have limited free parking space.bathrooms are dated and they don't provide soap.

Review 86:We did like the room, big spacious, with beans on the wall,we did like antique forniture.the staff is kind and polite.the reception is inside on the left, not in front of your face when you get in.they have a courtyard on the back and also sauna and steam rooms but we didn't have time to check those.we had a great weekend in austria.

Review 87:location - have to go through a pretty dark street from train station decoration - creepy

Review 88:location - decently close to train station courtesy of staff excellent acoustic insulation

Review 89:after 10pm the reception bar shuts and the 'all night' bar opens - and the prices go up, just a small niggle but be aware of it !!

Review 90:Great hotel, friendly staff, good food, triple glazed windows for supreme sound proofing, close to town centre, secure parking - all round fantastic stop over

Review 91:There is nothing I didn't like about the Hotel Baeren!

Review 92:The Hotel Baeren's proximity to the railway station and to the old town makes it an excellent location. We have stayed here twice now and will stay again on our next trip through Feldkirch. It is an olde worlde and relaxing place to stay. Love it!

Review 93:The pillows aren't great - they look fluffy but push down to nothing! And the reception area always smelled like cigarette smoke.

Review 94:The location was good - a little bit cheaper, but still a quick walk into the town centre and train station.

Review 95:Regular rooms were not so nice

Review 96:Business Rooms were nice

Review 97:Tanja at reception was outstanding. Room exceptional. Great location.

Review 98:The hotel is ok but not the room 201.

Review 99:Staff and ambience

Review 100:Only thing was it was a little cold as the heaters didnt work fully.

Review 101:Fantastic service and beautiful, comfortable rooms witha great breakfast.

Review 102:Staff

Review 103:Everything goodperfect overnight stop

Review 105:No restaurant in the Hotel
