Reviews for Hotel Eisenhut

Review 1:If it is a busy day there are so many people on the street it is so difficult getting to the front of the hotel for the parking service.

Review 2:We had two rooms, one was spectacular and one was mediocre - so find out if you have a nice one. The breakfast was pricey but lovely and worth it. The lobbies are lovely.

Review 3:Behaviour of Some staff at breakfast (German speaking) Location in guest house not anticipated Restaurant quality/price just sufficient

Review 4:Breakfast , large room for 2 adults and 2 kids Position

Review 5:Stuffy dining room. Breakfast way to noisy and turbulent with a lot of disturbing run-around of guests.just not peacefull enough to start a day.

Review 6:Overall ambience and great central location

Review 7:I think some of the rooms could use some refreshing. I understand the furnishings are to compliment the building - which is old, but some pieces of furniture are rickety and in need of repair/replacement. Beds and linens are just okay. If you are looking for luxury, the lower end rooms might not be what you are looking for. The floors are very creeky and halls can be noisy. Breakfast is okay. Parking fee of 10 euro per day is fair considering the location and parking availability.

Review 8:The location is great! Interesting old building. Very lovely light meals in evening. I had an amazingly fresh and tasty salad with toast and a pot of tea.

Review 9:No parking although on site parking listed. No pets in the breakfast room, although staff made accommodation for us to eat at the bar.

Review 10:Excellent location

Review 11:The elevator at property was ka poot! There are no rooms on ground level, so the stairs were our only option. Climbing stairs right now is difficult for me.

Review 12:Their breakfast was delicious! Cute heart shape waffles!

Review 13:Bed was tilted, warped and pretty uncomfortable.

Review 14:Location was outstanding! And the staff from check-in to check-out were friendly and so helpful. Thank you!

Review 15:Take note: This hotel has four buildings. One has the front desk and other things. I looked around one building for 30min before discovering an obscured sign saying to check in across the street.

Review 16:Central in old town! Walk out the front door and you're there. Charming, old hotel.

Review 17:something about German hotel beds meant I didn't sleep well.

Review 18:the authentic medieval decor and atmosphere, as well as the view over the Tauber Valley from my room - and, of course, the really helpful and professional staff

Review 19:In the evening we went into the bar lounge to have coffee and apple strudel. Were rudely and impatiently waited upon by Marcel who was not a credit to the excellent staff. Waited a long time for our orders.

Review 20:Romantically nostalgic hotel, lovely room and view over Tauber Valley, excellent breakfast and dining room staff, perfect location.

Review 21:First of all, the building and interior of this place is amazing! Very unique and interesting; really felt we were in Germany. The room was clean and had some neat old features. Our bathroom was pink top to bottom which was different and kinda hilarious. There was a shower head and huge tub, but no shower curtain or enclosure so you have to be creative and mindful as a shower makes a bit of a mess. But it's part of travelling and we didn't mind; makes for a funny story in our opinion. The hotel is close to all the sites and was quiet at night. Staff was friendly and check in and check out was a breeze.

Review 22:Nothing. It is a dated hotel but that is part of its charm.

Review 23:Loved the ambience and the feel of old times past. Loved the traditional breakfast and the professionalism of staff

Review 24:Excellent location. Helpful and pleasant staff. Excellent restaurant in the hotel. Charming hotel. Superb countryside views from our balcony and room.

Review 25:Nothing, great place to stay!

Review 26:Exceptional location: located within the walls of the Altstadt, within a 100 feet of the city center. Historic building with great character, but updated facilities. Staff were exceptionally helpful.

Review 27:Very difficult to reach the hotel by car because of the pedestrian zones. There should be better instruction on how to drive.

Review 28:Nice old building in the middle of the old town.

Review 29:The location in town is wonderful and for a reasonable fee the car is whisked away and safely parked for you. The character of the hotel is special and the staff was very helpful.

Review 30:Stayed in building across road from reception and entry was a bit musty but quite historically interesting.

Review 31:Great location. Very friendly and helpful staff.

Review 32:No air conditioning so room quite hot but there was a pedestal fan which helped.

Review 33:Centrally located hotel, large rooms with a huge bathroom. Staff very friendly and provided great suggestions for drinking / eating.

Review 34:No air conditioning made it quite hot and uncomfortable for sleeping during a hot August night.

Review 35:Location in hub of Rothenburg - attentive helpful staff. Food excellent.

Review 36:This hotel is in the most perfect location in this amazing town and the balcony rooms to the back provide the most outstanding views of the entire valley. Very comfortable.

Review 37:None.

Review 38:We loved everything about this hotel. It is in the best position to enable one to enjoy lovely Rothenburg. The staff was kind and helpful. The building amazing, the room softly elegant, the bathroom enormous and marble tiled was a touch of luxury. Our car was parked for us. So important upon arrival. The car appeared whenever we wanted it. All was wonderful and we did not want ro leave.

Review 39:Room was across the road from the hotel and as such was like staying in an apartment. No air conditioning so impossible to sleep as room was extremely hot. Cleaning of room was poor.

Review 40:Staff in general were excellent.

Review 41:German summers can be hot without Air-conditioning. Our room was at the roof-line and was very warm (outdoor temp was 95 degree F) Thankfully they had a fan in the room... but, it was still a very warm night. Breakfast is an extra charge.

Review 42:Great hotel in an historic location! Beautiful old buildings that are well maintained, with an excellent hotel staff. Good WiFi. The breakfast was extensive and very delicious!!

Review 43:Having to continually re-sign into the wifi.

Review 44:Restaurant & Front desk staff were excellent. Valet parking was great. Location was excellent though difficult to locate on our GPS.

Review 45:Although the breakfast buffet was excellent, the chef is trying to do too much innovation with the lunch menu and some dishes don't work. Plan on a long wait for entrees.

Review 46:Beautiful interior with lots of antiques, and they kept enough old world decor to make you feel you are stepping back in time, but there are modern bathrooms and very comfortable beds. It is also centrally located near the market center.

Review 47:The water temperature of the shower flixuated from cold to hot to cold to hot while traking a shower. Had to turn shower head toward wall because of the rapid changes in water temp.

Review 48:Location and friendly staff.

Review 49:The breakfast was a little pricey for a buffet. I would rather get a nice omelette or pancakes with bacon if I'm going to pay that much money for breakfast. It wasn't a big deal, though, overall. I really did enjoy my stay!

Review 50:The location cannot be beat! The staff was friendly and the wifi was very reliable. The interior of the hotel was absolutely charming and incredibly comfortable. I could have easily stayed in that super comfy bed all day. :)

Review 51:No AC room furniture Needs restauration No double bed even we asked Reception staff hardly friendly and not very confortable to offer touristic info Seemed to be very busy with home paperwork

Review 52:General ambiance of the premises impressive : ie llounge bar restaurant breakfast hall winter garden Breakfast very good including porcellain, cuttlery staff

Review 53:Nothing - it was all great!

Review 54:The food both at breakfast and dinner was excellent. The view from the rooftop patio was so beautiful and peaceful. Front desk and food service staff were top notch.

Review 55:The otherwise excellent experience was only dampened by a cheap and sqeeky bed (and too short for a typical 5'-11" man), and a worn out looking bathtub.

Review 56:Located in the heart of town, and with a wonderful back yard view as well, this hotel makes a prefect base for exploration. Great breakfast. Cozy and romantic bar. I will happily stay again if I visit the area.

Review 57:This hotel was a great choice and a welcomed rest after a busy day. They have friendly staff who recommended a restaurant for dinner that was fantastic. The hotel was near the city center/square and they provided valet parking in their garage for 10 euro. The breakfast buffet was great. We had an opportunity to view the various rooms before leaving (as housekeeping was cleaning the empty rooms) and all were uniquely different with various views of the town.

Review 58:Breakfast was great but not included and somewhat expensive.

Review 59:Our room was spacious and elegantly appointed. The weather was 30+ degrees with no air conditioning we were worried but they provided an effective fan. We loved being near the square. The terrace was a great way to finish a hard day of sightseeing. It was peaceful with a great view.

Review 60:We chose this hotel because it was located at the center of Rothenburg. We could walk to all the sites we wanted to see, the hotel was great! We arrived late and the kitchen staff stayed to serve us some beer and a late snack! Our stay was wonderful!

Review 61:The wood floor produces some unpleasent noise when walking on it. There is no air-conditioner---that is a problem.

Review 62:the view from my room is superb and the stuff is helpful.

Review 63:The room looked nothing like the rooms advertised on the website. It was extremely outdated, like stepping back to 1960 or 1970. More importantly, the bed was lumpy and uncomfortable. I explicitly asked for a firm bed because my husband has a bad back and the hotel did not honor our request.

Review 64:Great location. Wonderful staff.

Review 65:Unfortunately we found the staff in the restaurant not so accommodating as other staff members, the food however was good. The bathrooms could do with updating

Review 66:The hotel is a prime position within the town and the hotel will park your car for you which is a bonus as the roads inside the town are narrow. We found the reception staff extremely friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and the view was amazing.

Review 67:The Wi-Fi is is a little slow for heavy data usage.

Review 68:So much nicer than staying at a chain hotel and the decor is both interesting and unique. The staff are friendly, speak excellent English, and remembered my details and preferences. The breakfast was amazing with a huge selection of hot and cold items and the dinner was like dining in a world-class restaurant.

Review 69:This room had a tub with no stand up shower which is fine with me but some people are picky. The tub was a jacuzzi tub too which was great after walking around all day

Review 70:The room was large and comfortable. The view from our room was fantastic, and the place is right in the center of town. All the staff was very nice and the breakfast was one of the nicest i have seen

Review 71:I do not know about the other hotels located in the centor of the city, but the parking was a bit tricky - although hotel staff helped the parking & picking up the car from wherever they have the space. The only issue was we had to wait for about 20 min for our car at departure - so you better ask them earlier if you have another plan after.

Review 72:Located city centor, with good quality of dinner restaurant and buffet breakfast. The room allocated to us had two stories, with superb view from windows. We had very lovely stay.

Review 73:Nothing

Review 74:Location is amazing, huge room though I booked the standard size, very big bathroom, very friendly staff, try to visit Rothenburg on the weekend of the folkloric festival it gives a whole new taste to the experience

Review 75:Nothing we didn't like.

Review 76:Staff very friendly. Location excellent. Charming old building. Parking easy - able to pull up at door and someone parks car for you at location nearby.

Review 77:Bed wasn't the most comfortable but still very acceptable. WiFi was weak but generally useable.

Review 78:Spent a bit more to get a view of the Taber Valley. Well worth it! Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Very upscale restaurant and food.

Review 79:Nothing.

Review 80:The young staff is always ready to help with a smile, in particular Laura Kaiser. The breakfast has excellent selection of cereal, meat, bread , fruit and everything else. Even the view is great if your room is on a higher floor, as in our case.

Review 81:Not much to complain about....

Review 82:The architecture an ambiance were superb, nicely appointed in Medieval decorations. Breakfast was very good and most helpful staff.

Review 83:The internet hot spot was limited....but why bother with it when there are so many other things to do in town!

Review 84:Location is near the center of all activity in the town...shopping, sightseeing, and restaurants. The personnel are incredibly friendly and engaging.

Review 85:there is no shower cubicle, just a bath with hand shower. Big problem if you are 192cm!

Review 86:We were able to walk to everywhere from the hotel. You had a real sense of the history of the town just by staying at the hotel - the furnishings are old and authentic. Bathroom was newly renovated.

Review 87:love the atmosphere and location of this hotel. It was in an older building but just added to the antique feel, bathrooms were remodeled nicely and shower was great. Bed was comfortable. Great breakfast!

Review 88:Lovely old hotel but with all modern facilities. Delicious breakfast in a wonderful old room. In summer, the terrace outside would be perfect - but while we were there it snowed gently! Hotel is central in the medieval town - a somewhat 'touristy' and I imagine very crowded town in summer. Super secure parking (at small overnight cost) Good WiFi.

Review 89:I had some work to complete and the hotel internet was the worst I've experienced in recent memory. Which equals extreme frustration. I heard a receptionist state they recently changed servers, so hopefully it's just a temporary glitch. Otherwise, the hotel was superb.

Review 90:The staff was friendly and very helpful. The hotel was in an excellent location and my room was clean and spacious with a great view of the hills.

Review 91:Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful hotel in the middle of hostoric area of Rothenburg, which looks like a fairytale town. I would come back to Rothenburg and stay at this hotel in a heartbeat.

Review 92:We stayed for two nights, but the free wifi was disconnected before our check out.

Review 93:Size of the room and toilet, very friendly and helpful staff. The restaurant was gorgeous, we enjoyed our dinner very much!

Review 94:Beautiful furnishings, friendly staff and the feel of living in Medieval times accentuate ones stay at Hotel Eisenhut. My wife and I loved our stay during the winter months avoiding the crowded tourist season. The daily rate was much less than the summer quoted rates.

Review 95:It's a cozy hotel with historic touch. Maybe because of the age of the building, we could hear a baby cry in the neighbouring room clearly. The price was a bit high, but it was in Christmas time.

Review 96:The location of the hotel is perfect. It's like less than a minute away from the central market, which was the Christmas Market during my stay. You can find many cafes, restaurants, bakeries and many local shops close to the hotel. It's about 15 minutes walk from the train station. Staffs there are quite friendly. On top of the basics, such as guiding directions, introducing rooms, they also helped us send our post cards.

Review 97:There is no actual bar/lounge. Part of the dining room has been converted but it's not what it should be.

Review 98:Room was large and comfy. Service was over and above, they work hard to make your stay worry free. Very close to everything. Just seconds from the main square, but far enough to still be quite when you are ready for it.

Review 99:Rooms a little musty. First receptionist was flat-out mean. By this point in our journey were were well acquainted with the "stoopeed Amarican" attitude so she pretty much rolled off of us. . .but she might just be toxic enough to really piss-off someone else. She did warm up after the first night though. Maybe she had a self-check.

Review 100:All the staff except the initial receptionist who checked us in. The hotel is amazing. The city is amazing. The buffet is amazing. The location is amazing.

Review 101:Our room was pretty awful it was in the main house which was supposedly better than the option of being across the street !!but it was very basic, old and worn looking !! the carpet didn;t look very clean !! Breakfast was very ok, i found the staff a bit abrupt not very friendly

Review 102:We liked how close it was to the main square and the oldie worldie feel of the hotel !!

Review 103:- we were put in a separate building, opposite to the main hotel building. - the check-in receptionist was not so welcoming, but the check-out receptionist was friendly though. - Hotel s restaurant didn't offer appropriate quality of food for the price.

Review 104:- Location and decoration.

Review 105:If we had something we did not like, we could have stayed elsewhere.

Review 106:We have been here before. We like the Hotel and its closeness to what we like. Nice Place to stay just before Christmas.

Review 107:It would be difficult for a handicapped person to navigate the many stairways and sometimes narrow halls.

Review 108:The staff were incredibly helpful, friendly, and conversant in English and several other languages beyond German. They constantly looked for ways to help, often anticipating our needs before we voiced them. The location was unbeatable, and the old-world charm of the hotel enhanced the enjoyment of our stay. The restaurant's decor was elegant while the well-trained staff made us feel "at home." The menu was varied and the food was generally well prepared, but some of the meat servings (lamb, goose breast, pork medallions) were tough. Having a few lighter dishes would add modern variety to a traditional menu.

Review 109:Had dinner in the restaurant. It was the worst food I have eaten in quite a while. Dry lamb, duck with rubbery skin. We even sent to dish back which I have not done in recent memory. It is a real shame because the restaurant is beautiful and elegant. They need a new chef. Stay in the hotel but don't eat in the restaurant. Many better, far less expensive options in town.

Review 110:Beautiful hotel. Great location off the market square. Very helpful English speaking staff.

Review 111:Lovely old-world hotel - fitting in character with the Middle age town of Rothenburg ob der Tauber. Antiques, old leather couches, paintings, grand piano - atmospheric, romantic hotel - Frau Schlag and her team do a wonderful job!

Review 112:Typical German hospitality

Review 113:Great location Good size rooms Comfortable beds. Bedroom balcony view of the valley. Convenience of a restaurant in the hotel. Lots of light in the restaurant.

Review 114:Although staff was efficient, for the most part they were unfriendly. After initial registration upon arrival we were never greeted or acknowledged by front desk staff unless we spoke directly to them. Sometimes received rude & curt responses to questions or requests. Ditto restaurant staff. One gracious waitress was the exception.

Review 115:Value, charm, history, location, comfort, cleanliness of rooms and hotel, nice outdoor cafe, ease of parking, excellent food in restaurant

Review 116:We had a very poor wifi connection. I ended up usuing my PC at a reception down stairs.

Review 117:Such a historical gorgeous hotel. Our room was very comfy with fine furniture. We even had a chandelier.

Review 118:Tea/coffee making facilities would have been nice in a room of this standard. Otherwise everything else very good.

Review 119:Spaciousness of our room, comfort of our beds, great size bathroom, separate toilet. Very comfortable and homely room.

Review 120:The location is perfect, and the staff was professional and helpful. This was our second stay and we look forward to staying in the hotel our next visit.

Review 121:Nothing really unsatisfied, this is a good hotel.

Review 122:This is a great hotel in a historic building, locates in the center of the town, next to the Church, tool museum, and has a nice restaurant. The room inside is in traditional decoration and setting, and the view out of window is beautiful.

Review 123:Liked it all.

Review 124:The hotel is perfectly located for walking around the very interesting town and its surroundings. The excellent restaurant on the patio at sundown was a treat.

Review 125:Not really a problem for us. It was a warmer night and we left all the windows open, so early morning you could hear workers setting up tables and trucks delivering supplies in town. But would not deter us from booking this very same hotel for another visit. It was a GREAT choice for us!

Review 126:Location is unbeatable! Lovely Room! Comfortable, Clean Charming

Review 127:Our twin beds were a good size - but they both squeaked horribly every time we moved, so we kept each other awake all night!

Review 128:Location, nice old hotel, big room with antique-type furniture.

Review 129:We travelled with 2 other couples who also had very spacious rooms but they looked like they were ready for a make over.

Review 130:Great to stay in one of the traditional buildings in the centre. Massive room was more like a suite. We were upgraded from standard. Breakfast excellent choice. Lovely outdoor terrace at the back and superb service.

Review 131:Room 356 was like an apartment with a private lanai and incredible view of the city, medieval wall, and valley! Staff parked our car for us and brought up our luggage! Beautifully furnished, staff was very nice, spoke English. Very, very nice stay! Would absolutely recommend this hotel!

Review 132:Breakfast was not included in the price of the room and the cost of the breakfast seemed a little high for what you got.

Review 133:Top notch hotel. Great location right off the main square in Rothenburg.

Review 134:Bait and switch on room. Upon check in they tried to put into a tiny room half the size of the picture displayed on booking.com. When they agreed to move us to a room comparable to that shown on the site, they wanted E30 more per night. Finally got them to reverse the extra charge after much discussion.

Review 135:Beautiful old hotel Very nice restaurant Helpful staff

Review 136:Is the best hotel in town. Perfect location in the most beautiful city in the romantic road. Is a truly romantic building with lots of objects from those days that will make you feel as a knight.
