Reviews for Hotel Altes Brauhaus

Review 1:The room was very large and comfortable for an adult family of four. The room was fully equipped with kitchen facilities, a modern bathroom and open plan design.

Review 2:Hotel location is excellent. It's located inside the city walls and you have everything within a walking distance. Wifi connection is good. Breakfast was not included on my room rate but the price is not expensive. Bed was confortable and room very clean.

Review 3:The bedroom's furniture and bathroom really need a remodeling. The wi-fi does not work very well.

Review 4:The location was the best thing about this hotel, walking distance to the main attractions. The breakfast and the breakfast room were also outstanding.

Review 5:Comparing other hotels nearby, price was a little bit high. But it was also reasonable for us.

Review 6:Location was quite convenient, 3 minute walk to city center. Eyerything was kept clean and all staff were very friendly. Breakfast (EUR5.00 per person) was also good.

Review 7:Very accommodating and friendly staff, excellent breakfast for only €5, and spacious underground secure parking for €11/night. So nice being able to tour the city inside the walls and walk to hotel. Great restaurants nearby and the Night Watchman's tour should not be missed!

Review 8:The staff were unfriendly and impatient. Of all my 2.5 weeks trip around Austria, Switzerland and Germany, i will rank this worst. The staff were always grouchy and impatient. We disnt felt welcome.

Review 9:Room is of decent size and its just round the famous photo point of Rothenburg. Breakfast was good anf value for money.

Review 10:The staff was superb and everything in this ancient town was within a short walk. We arrived early and were able to get a spot in the garage beneath the hotel... a win in a town where parking is hard to come by.

Review 11:Intermittent wifi

Review 12:Excellent location in the old town centre, yet within walking distance from the main train station. The hotel is neat and clean and sumptuous breakfasts were served, We had a room on the third floor with a beautiful view over part of the town.

Review 13:There is nothing I didn't like. It wasn't a perfect 10 only because the price was just a bit over from what I wanted to pay (I was trying to be budget saavy) BUT it was totally worth it! Especially since it was Christmas market season.

Review 14:This hotel was in the perfect location on a quiet street; not directly in the center but only about a five minute walk. Upon check-in the front desk staff was very helpful. There is a garage you can park which is an extra 11 euro. A charming touch was the little packets of Haribo gummy bears (my fave!) on the pillows. The breakfast was one of the best I've had in Europe. They had bacon and was cooked perfectly: crispy; the way I like it! Also, the hotel was kind enough to let me keep my car in the garage upon check out so that I could do some more exploring before I left. I would definitely stay here again the next time I visit!

Review 15:None at all.

Review 16:The location of the property as good, right in the centre of the old town. The ambiance of the Hotel was great and the breakfast spread amazing and value for money.

Review 17:Great location. Super friendly staff who spoke English. Breakfast buffet had a large variety of items, warm and cold, and even included champagne. Room was cozy and the bed was extremely comfortable. Parking garage convenient as well. Would definitely stay here again!

Review 18:The room is small and the beds are very tiny. No local feature at all in room decoration. Shouldn't have trusted the pictures online

Review 19:The lobby is quite nicely decorated.

Review 20:Within the walls of the city but away from the busiest streets, breakfast well appointed and staff incredibly helpful. I loved opening the windows and listening to the church bells in the morning.

Review 21:Furniture was a little old but very comfortable

Review 22:The staff was excellent. Breakfast was a superb value for the money. Internet was great. Room was very spacious.

Review 23:The only down side was that wifi was not available in your room.

Review 24:I really liked this hotel. We had a comfortable room on the top floor, with big wooden beams and a huge bathroom. The common areas are also lovely especially the breakfast area.

Review 25:I would not call it bad but navigating the parking garage was a challenge. I had actually found the only remaining free parking space on the street but was told I could not remain there - which I later doubted but relented and paid for the garage space. The security lights in the garage kept going off while we were attempting to get in our space and take out our luggage. Timer could have been more generous.

Review 26:proximity within the walls and walking distance to many things. Hotel was gracious about allowing us to leave car in garage for a few hours after check-out.

Review 27:Liked it all

Review 28:Location is wonderful...off the busy streets but convenient to everything. Staff is so helpful! Accommodations were great! Gave us an upgrade to suite at no charge

Review 29:Nothing

Review 30:Located in the centre of town which was convenient for sight-seeing and attending the must-do night watch-man tour. Parking availbale underneath the building with lift to hotel floors - great for bringing in luggage. Good breakfast set in old banqueting hall - very atmospheric. Great views from bedroom of surrounding area - upper level room.

Review 31:Nice location and lovely garden area. The A.H. Brau restaurant was right next door and my son and I enjoyed some great beer and food over two nights at the hotel. We were able to park our motorcycles in a small garage and didn't need to worry about them sitting on the street.

Review 32:no aircon so window open all night. Unable to plug lap top into tv, tight garage access.

Review 33:Large room with good sized bathroom, 4 poster bed, and lovely views

Review 34:Inconsistent information about early-morning taxi availability from 2 receptionists. Unexpectedly had to walk to rail station at 5.30 a.m. Luckily it was only 15 mins away but I had a plane to catch in Frankfurt so this could have been a real problem.

Review 35:Spacious, comfortable room. Good breakfast inc sparkling wine.

Review 36:None

Review 37:Nice, clean, well decorated and spacy room. The area is not in the square, so good and quiet for sleep at night. Though it's not far to the square, so it's convenient to get to tourist spot before getting crowed. There is the parking underground of hotel, which rare hotel in this location can offer.

Review 38:Wonderful location inside Rothenburg with convenient parking AT the hotel INSIDE the town walls. Lovely, clean, spacious room with beautiful view from window.

Review 39:Location excellent, 1 minute walk to Das Plonlein and 3 minutes to the main square. Underground car park very useful to have, and costs 11 euros per day. Staff helpful, especially as we checked in at midnight. Breakfast was served in a majestic room and was of good quality.

Review 40:The free WiFi is only available in the common areas, not in the rooms.

Review 41:We loved the location of this hotel, very close to the center of the city but located on a quiet side street. Our room had plenty of space. The satellite T.V. had English speaking channels. The breakfast buffet had a lot of options and was very good. The hotel was very clean.

Review 42:Cold staff, not smiling Not providing any recommendation on things to see or to visit Room decoration, very basic for a 4 stars. No charm. No air cond

Review 43:Central location Historical building with a charming middle age room dedicated to the breakfast

Review 44:Nothing to complain about.

Review 45:Staff were very helpful and pleasant. Unusual heat during our stay but they provided us with two oscillating fans (no AC and we had a 4 person room). Rooms were exceptionally clean and great water in the shower. Location was perfect. Only 5-7 minute walk to city center. Friendly dog in the lobby (likes her belly scratched). Underground (secure) parking available for nominal fee. Breakfast buffet was only 5 euros and had standard selections.

Review 46:Not a complaint, but no restaurant (plenty nearby).

Review 47:Friendly welcome, great location in beautiful town. Disabled access room was spacious , but with bath not shower. Excellent breakfast in lovely old hall. Some parking available, ( town is residents only)

Review 48:Thought breakfast should be included in price--but don't raise the price to include it.

Review 49:Clean, comfortable rooms. They honored my request for 1st floor rooms. Rooms and bathroom were a nice size. Helpful people at the desk.

Review 50:Too soft bed and pillows

Review 51:Great location close to everything, very friendly staff and good breakfast with several options. Too soft bed and pillows, otherwise this is top hotel.

Review 52:The front desk staff was not very welcoming.

Review 53:I loved the old hotel look of the beams, but the upgraded amenities like the air conditioning in our room. I also liked that there were elevators in the hotel which did not take away from the charm. I also liked that I was able to check in early.

Review 54:It would have been nice to have fans in the room.

Review 55:Everything. Great room, secured parking, inexpensive and filling breakfast, close to everything. The views from our room were great.

Review 56:Three of us traveling. Mom and two young adult kids. After a dismal night in what was supposed to be a room for 3 adults (but was a tiny room with 2 larger twin beds) from a national chain, we were delighted to receive a spacious suite with 5 beds and views overlooking the entire town; all for half the price. Staff was very nice; hotel is clean and comfortable; great location. Cannot say enough good things about this hotel.

Review 57:The hospitality was not so great. The breakfast ok & though it had a wonderful location the room did not have a good view though it was a suite. The hotel is overpriced & the breakfast had very few selections.

Review 58:Fantastic location, near to all attractions.

Review 59:Location was "key". Close enough to the inside of the wall to be a two minute walk to a great oversized playground. The parking garage (small fee), breakfast and wifi were also a nice benefit.

Review 60:A beautiful, well-appointed hotel in an historic building. Rooms were very clean, modern and spacious. Felt every detail had been considered and provided for. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

Review 61:The automatic floor light sometimes didn't turn on when I pass which made the passage very dark.

Review 62:Large room, clean and beautiful. Perfect location and helpful staff

Review 63:Nothing.

Review 64:Great location within the city walls, very close to the market square. Breakfast at 5 euros is great value and exceptional quality. The staff were all very pleasant and very helpful.

Review 65:Convenient location inside city walls but on a quieter street just around the corner from one of the main shopping streets. Breakfast was good,15 minutes walk from train station. Amazing view from our window and there is a lift.

Review 66:No one on the desk when we returned at 9.30 and our key to the front door did not work. A staff member had responded but other guests had meanwhile arrived. We wanted more coffee and creamer for our room coffee making facilities (only one coffee and creamer each, nothing for the tea) and there was no way to get anything. A small negative in an otherwise very good stay

Review 67:Underground parking, size and comfort of room, range of breakfast (Excellent value)

Review 68:No bar but there was a vending machine.

Review 69:Location was fantastic. Inside the city walls and moments from the centre. Rooms were clean and bathrooms newly fitted. Overall a great hotel in a lovely town

Review 70:Pillow Wifi Code Needed to pay for parking under the hotel

Review 71:Location The interior of the hotel is beautiful Big room Nice and spacious bathroom Excellent breakfast Nice and kind stuff

Review 72:The staff was friendly, room sizes were spacious & location was ideal. Breakfast had many options for all types of diets. We will definitely stay here again!!

Review 73:internet did not work well. You have to get a username and password from front desk for each device...which only worked for 24 hours..then you had to get another one. VERY poor signal in room..205.

Review 74:this was a nice clean stay. Stayed in family room with 3 beds in one room and one bed in entrance...neither of my young daughters wanted to say in entrance alone so my husband ended up sleeping in that bed. Breakfast was great. Staff super nice!

Review 75:Nothing that I can think of.

Review 76:I liked that this hotel was close to everything within the village walls but far enough away that you could get a good nights sleep. The staff were all wonderful and very helpful! What a neat hotel. Our room even had a nice balcony view.

Review 77:No complaints at all...excellent stay!

Review 78:The most outstanding memory is how friendly the people were, and how comfortable we felt here, from the first moment. The parking was a big plus, the breakfast was very good, and above all, we felt we'd made the right choice from the time we walked in the door, until we checked out. Super nice place!

Review 79:Staff at check in wasn't very friendly but improved later in the evening when we returned from our touring. Was okay in the morning but not overly friendly. 4 of the 5 of us flooded the bathroom floor when showering - glass door not a tight fit.

Review 80:Location was great - just a couple minutes away from the square. Parking was a nice feature. Rooms were clean and well furnished for the 5 of us (adults).

Review 81:I loved the room, it even had a small refrigerator. The breakfast was very good. When we first arrived the hotel staff was not the friendliest but after we got parked and came back in the hotel staff was excellent, friendly and very helpful.

Review 82:Was not aware that parking was reserved when I booked my accommodation. Parked in small underground parking area, but was informed that I was not allocated a parking space. Tables in Breakfast area were to big. There were not many smaller tables for couples.

Review 83:The location was excellent for the main town centre. Very clean and staff were friendly.

Review 84:I made a mistake and booked the wrong size room. The front desk went way out of their way to accommodate us. Rothenburg is an awesome town and Hotel Altes Brauhaus was a great place to stay.

Review 85:Costs extra 11 euro for the parking the lighting system for garage turnoff automatically, though too quickly. Wenn I took some luggage fromcar, need to walked back in dark.

Review 86:Historical breakfast room play corner for child good location in oldcity, inside the city wall. We can reach the walking district within 1min, very convenient as we carry the child.

Review 87:Car park was a little difficult to find behind the hotel.

Review 88:Good location - not right in the centre but not far to walk. Very pretty room with lovely view over Rothenburg. I read a few negative reviews and was nervous about staying here but didn't have any reason to complain at all. Overall excellent. Would definitely stay again.

Review 89:As the rooms are quite expensive, I might have expected a little bit more luxury; looks until facilities. It was all good, but not very special.

Review 90:The arrival was perfect: we were late and they were still energetic and took the time to explain us everything. Very much oriented at tourists: they have all kinds of information (list of restaurants) and maps to give out. The room was good and very clean, a typical German bed: huge but 'fluffy' pillow and a big (and warm!) blanket. The breakfast area is very pretty and the choises are endless!

Review 91:I thought the breakfast buffet could be improved. There was a bus tour group there and the buffet was not replenished very quickly.

Review 92:Very convent good location with easy access to everything in the old town. Had a very nice, clean room that was quiet.

Review 93:Large rooms Comfy bed and pillows Lovely view of the garden Big bathroom Good breakfast Walkable from train station Near center of all activities

Review 94:We booked a junior suite. Bit expensive but the room was spacious with an excellent view of the old town. Facilities were modern and clean. The location of the hotel was excellent, minutes away from the town centre, yet very quiet. The breakfast was excellent and very good value for money.

Review 95:The rooms were larger than most, the underground parking was great, only one block to the main street, recommended good Restaurant's close by. Good morning breakfast and elevator (lift) for easy luggage transport.

Review 96:The attitude of staff was rather unwelcoming and off putting. One feels like one needs to apologise for bothering them to do what is their job. There was a lot of eye rolling and deep sighs when I asked to see both rooms on offer, due to mix up of booking on our side. Stroppy and unfriendly.

Review 97:Location of this hotel is good, as it is around the corner from the market square. Lobby and breakfast room have a good setting, but rooms need a little bit of updating. Breakfast is simple, but tasty.

Review 98:There was no air conditioning and the second floor room only had onewindow. I did request a fan but it was quite warm. I would request afirst floor room with lots of windows.

Review 99:A nice clean comfortable room. Quite large for Europe as well with alarge bathroom. I was traveling with my three children and it was plentyof room and nice.

Review 100:It seemed on the high end for pricing but I think this is standard for the area.

Review 101:The location was awesome! The hotel was classy, clean and very helpful. They had internet and a computer guests could use for free with printing capabilities. I would definitely stay here again.

Review 102:Lack of air conditioning (especially in the summer day), poor sound proofing between rooms and corridor

Review 103:Good location, parking facilities, children's play area, average european breakfast

Review 104:Nothing wrong... our stay was too short for such a nice place...

Review 105:Excellent location, helpful staff, private parking, free WiFi, good breakfast, cosy room.

Review 106:Value for money, room does not look like on a picture. We had to put bed together, but it was not easy because of lamps on a wall. Breakfast was not good, WiFi signal was very bad. No condition

Review 107:location, breakfast room, dog

Review 108:Rooms a bit dated.

Review 109:The hotel was in an excellent location, and usefully had parking available. Our room was a little dated but everything worked perfectly and was clean and tidy. The terrace was a lovely little spot too.

Review 110:Loved every aspect of it. Breakfast was delicious in a lovely setting, the owner was very friendly and willing to share the history of the building, the room was cosy for the four of us, a little warm but beautiful and clean. The art work on the walls was so great. Parking was pricy but we knew our car was secure. So much fun.

Review 111:Very expensive. We splurged on this hotel. If you can afford it, I would definitely recommend it. Pay extra for parking

Review 112:Helpful staff Great location Excellent breakfast Awesome family room with great kitchen and bathroom Nice views of city Great internet

Review 113:Rooms too warm due to lack of air conditioning

Review 114:Rooms nice size and well equipped. Breakfast very good value at 5 eurowith lots of choice. Cold meats, cheeses, smoked salmon and sparklingwine, fruits, hot sausages and scrambled eggs, cakes, croissants, toast, cereals etc

Review 115:A little dated, though bathrooms were nicely updated.

Review 116:This hotel is well located in a quiet part of town. The restaurant and breakfast were excellent. Rooms in the back surround a courtyard that was peaceful to have a cup of coffee at in the mornings.

Review 117:I did not want to disturb the hotel management by complaining that wecan not sleep but next day she was counting the parking charges, whenour place was not inside the garage but just in the courtyeard. I waskindly asking the lady to give us this like a bonus in compensation forthe night we did not sleep, which was confirmed by the next door guests, leaving at the same time and complaining, but the hotel management wasnot flexible at all. I think I shall never want to go back to thishotel. The toilet was not very well cleaned, maybe old, but had theimpression that was not well cleaned.

Review 118:Itself the hotel and breakfast would be all right, the problem was thatduring summer heat, no air conditioning, and our room was looking at thesmall road side to the hotel where - Friday evening - Young dronken boysand girls was very loudly laughing and shouting.

Review 119:The staff wasn't very friendly or helpful, the hotel dreary, the décor outdated. On arrival, there wasn't anywhere to park our car nor were we given any help other than parking in the public lots quite a distance from the hotel.

Review 120:The location within the city wall of Rothenberg.

Review 121:Our quad room was enormous, comfortable, and clean. The hotel is conveniently located and easy to find. Buffet breakfast had a nice variety of foods and was reasonably priced.

Review 122:Finally we had Air Conditioning and reliable internet access. The hotel is in a perfect location to experience Rothenburg. We had two rooms to accommodate our 3 children and parents. The rooms are very roomy and perfect.

Review 123:The front desk were not very welcoming. Although not one of the cheapest hotels in Rothenburg, we still had to pay for parking. The room, although big, was not very welcoming.

Review 124:Very good location near the city center. Nice breakfast and breakfast area. Room was clean and quite big. underground parking.

Review 125:A little modest breakfast.

Review 126:Everything is super! Undergroung garage is huge plus.

Review 127:The location was wonderful. The staff was helpful. Breakfast was good. We adored Rothenburg.
