Reviews for Hotel Reichs-Küchenmeister

Review 1:The internet was a tad bit slow. The bed for the room we choose was a bit small, but not something wrong, just pay close attention when booking for bed size.

Review 2:This hotel is located in the heart of the old city. The breakfast was amazing with many food choices, and cooked to order items as well. The restaurant was wonderful making for a restful dinner after walking the city.

Review 3:When we first arrived, person at desk was upset at something and took it out on us, but then got nicer. Showers are goofy - almost no way to not get lots of water all over the floor.

Review 4:Nice location, nice bar/restaurant and good breakfast. Servers were very friendly and helpful.

Review 5:Selection for breakfast somewhat limited, but was good.

Review 6:We loved all the antiques (& Christmas decorations!) throughout the hotel, yet rooms had modern conveniences, were roomy, very comfortable. Location is perfect, with parking provided. And the restaurant for dinner is outstanding!

Review 7:This experience was spoiled by the fact that we were overcharged. Our booking stated the total price (which was fair for a suite but not cheap) and in the details it stated that children stay free in existing beds. We were charged an additional €10 for a 4 year old and €15 for a 7 year old who both shared a sofa bed in our suite. A sofabed to me is existing bedding, this is why we booked the suite. We questioned this extra charge at the time but were told that these details were in the small print....as I did not have a computor at checkout, I could not check this. When we returned home we discovered that the details quite clearly state 'free in existing bedding' (there is an additional charge for an extra bed). I will be writing to the hotel to complain.

Review 8:Lovely Hotel in the very center of Rothenburg. Lovely well presented room. Very good restaurant and staff. This Hotel is very good for families, everything was prepared with children in mind, childrens menu with coloring etc on the back, Childrens meals served very quickly, free ice cream after evening meal.

Review 9:The location was amazing! Right off the main square. The outside of the hotel is adorable and many people would stop to take pictures. The stairwell and features of the hotel was adorable. We ate at the restaurant attached and had the best pepper steak! I would recommend making a reservation at the restaurant.

Review 10:Wonderful hotel, basically it's the main hub for the town, thriving excellent restaurant, cosy popular bar and outdoor terrace too plus a location slap bang in the centre by the main market square. Couldn't fault it.

Review 11:The atmosphere was perfect for our trip to the Christmas market. The room was clean and comfirtable. The restaurant was wonderfully decorated and the service and food were top notch! Best breakfast I had in Europe

Review 12:Room was not what was pictured. Flat pillows and uncomfortable bed. Service in wine bar was poor. Service when we arrived was very poor. The attendant who was to show us our room left with out us. We had to find the man waving down at the end of the street to find the annex we were staying in. Ugly modern building with no character was where we were directed.

Review 13:Location and food at restaurant was great.

Review 14:Hand soap, lotion and wash cloth would have been nice.

Review 15:The hotel was beautiful. I really liked the breakfast buffet. Fantastic selection and wonderful, friendly staff. There is nothing I did not like about this hotel.

Review 16:I did not like having no control over the room temperature, which was too warm for us - but there were no thermostat controls accessible to the visitor

Review 17:Very comfortable room, most staff were pleasant, food (dinner & breakfast) excellent

Review 18:Nothing.

Review 19:Had an absolutely phenomenal stay. The staff here was over the top friendly, and the location was top notch. Loved the quaint German feel. They provided us with a crib, and our 1 year old slept great. Loved the breakfast and also had a great dinner at the restaurant. Loved this place.

Review 20:Andreas, was very friendly, welcoming and forthcoming when it came to providing all the tourist information that was required. The area is centrally located which means you can walk down to the shopping district and restaurants. The breakfast was amazing and had a wide selection of items plus the tables are reserved in advance so there is no need to fight for a table or look for one. I really wish I could stay longer here as the hotel was comfortable and gave a good vibe to it.

Review 21:This charming hotel had a convenient location right in the middle of Rothenburg. Their breakfast that was included was very nice as well. The staff even made me a to go lunch because I was checking out very early the next day. Thank you!

Review 22:- I need to say that there were mixture of attitudes among the hotel staff. Some of them are very helpfull and friendly , whereas some of them were quite un-polite. You should keep some enough cash with you for emergency case for checking out . In our case the ''pos'' maschine for credit cart payment was out of order and after several trials even with different credit cards, the lady on the reception did not want to control their pos maschines , but she found the problem on our credit cards. Then we paid cash.

Review 23:- Location is excellent and people is almost in the center of town and everything. It is really fun to go to every direction starting from the hotel by walking and explore the area easily. - We stayed in the old building and it is very good to be in the so called ''historical'' building. Room is small , but really no problem as we spent all the time on the streets. - Hotel restaurant is one of the good options in town. Ambiance is very very nice.As the portions/plates are quite big , take care the numbers of dishes you order in advance. - Breakfast is also great and several varieties are tasty as well.

Review 24:The room was very noisy---plumbing glugging in the pipes all night long, thin walls and way-too-firm mattress! This was our least comfortable room of the 5 hotels we stayed in during an 8 night stay in Germany.

Review 25:Great location steps away from town square. Lovely furniture and decorations. Quaint.

Review 26:The best quality of this hotel is its location. Interesting that of the five hotels we stayed at in Germany, this was the only one that fairly demanded to make a copy of my passport before providing instructions about where to park, where to unload, etc. Our room was nicely decorated, at the end of the hallway, Room 115, with four windows opening out to flower-filled window boxes AND lots of echo-y street noises. Light sleepers beware! Breakfast is served in the lovely restaurant but in a bit of a mish-mosh set-up: spread out in a very odd, non-intuitive configuration. One Asian woman made the error of walking into the wrong area toward a basket of breads and was harshly reprimanded by the woman in the red-checked blouse who was running the service...."What are you looking for? Tell me! In English! In French! In German! In Spanish!"...loud enough for the entire dining room to hear. I cringed at the lack of graciousness. Parking is in a secure lot about 3 cobblestone blocks away from the hotel. Wi-Fi worked sporadically during our visit.

Review 27:Bathroom was a nightmare for an older traveler. The bathtub was as slick as glass - much too dangerous to attempt to be in when there was water - and when we asked for a non-skid mat to put in, they had none and just suggested we put a bath towel in. There was no separate shower. We could not bathe while there and left after one night. If older travelers are going there, they need to bring their own non-skid mat for the tub.

Review 28:Location was excellent.

Review 29:Outstanding location for walking Rothenburg. Very nice breakfast offered, and excellent outdoor terrace cafe.Rooms were very comfortable, good beds and spotlessly cleaned.

Review 30:Busses cannot pull right in front. Our bus refused to get inside the city walls. We had to get off the bus at the school situated east of the city walls and had to walk five minutes with our luggage to the hotel. Hotel charges 2,5 euros per person for luggage service in case you have a group and request hotel personnel to carry your luggage by a vehicle. We had the service on our return. Keep in mind you have to book ahead of time.

Review 31:Central location. Fair breakfast. Good dinner. Friendly personnel trying to solve our problems. Small lobby. Has a decent bar which is open late. Rooms are fair size and decently decorated. Good price optimization.

Review 32:I was on the street side and the noise from street was a problem. Friday night was the worse.

Review 33:Staff was frieindly, room was very nice, location was great

Review 34:What can you say about this hotel. First the bad (well not really) The parking is down the road,a bit tight and this makes check in a bit of a faf. Now the good, our room was great the setting is perfect and the food is fantastic. We visited during the medieval festival and were right in the heart of the action. We would not hesitate to return or recommend this hotel.

Review 35:Finding the hotel was horrible. No definitive directions provided.

Review 36:The location was great. We loved the quaintness of the room and the hotel. Our breakfast was fantastic!

Review 37:The pillows were very uncomfortable so didn't sleep well. The rooms were simple and a little outdated.

Review 38:Excellent location, lovely breakfast, set in a beautiful building.

Review 39:Hotel wifi was not strong signal and sign off quite some times.

Review 40:Facilities were cute and classic. Location is good to walk around the city. Staff was very friendly too.

Review 41:The wifi didn't work; the parking was 2+ blocks away (a surprise not noted online); the walk to the building across the street was actually 1/2 block walk dragging suitcases with wheels - lucky none fell off because it was a rough drag.

Review 42:The location of the hotel, the staff, the breakfast. The location was great once we figured out we had to drive down a narrow alley to drop our bags. The staff was friendly and helpful. The breakfast was super.

Review 43:We were put in another building which was very clean and spacious but devoid of character. When we booked the pictures show character rooms in an old hotel. A bit misleading.

Review 44:Location. Rooms clean and spacious.

Review 45:Even though they knew we were arriving with cars, they seems to have no sensible system to park you first then check in. Instead, they want you to check in , leaving your car in a small town with tiny streets, then go find the multiple parking places they have. We arrived with 10 cars so chaos ensued for 30 mins.

Review 46:Good breakfast, restaurant on site.

Review 47:Being in the old town next to St. Jakob's was terrific! The staff was absolutely wonderful, super helpful with "lost tourists" wondering where to park & how to find our hotel in a walking section.

Review 48:Receptiondesk very small, took 20 minutes to check out. Some waiters not too friendly (end of the season ??). Car parking is 200 meters from the hotel, which is no problem, but the guy who is managing it does not understand how to park cars in such a manner that you are able to get your car again out of the garage. I could not even get the doors on both sides open for more than 15 centimeters. No carkeys of too closed parked cars left at the reception desk!!! Had to enter the car thru the backdoor. What a hassle on my age, took another 30 minutes!!

Review 49:Beautiful hotel in the city centre. Very nice room and good breakfast.

Review 50:Had to have key after 10 and parking was not onsite. Not that it could be due to the spectacular location. It should be noted on the partner websites where booking.

Review 51:Beer in the biergarten is delectable, probably the worst you can find in Rotheburg. Be wary that parking is unnecessarily expensive - most parking will charge you 1€ / hour from 9 am to 6 pm, but it's free parking otherwise.

Review 52:It's in the middle of the old city, and have a rather nice biergarten to have lunch / drinks in.

Review 53:A better job of written walking directions from the train station would be appreciated. It's not the easy ten minute walk described in your web-site. It was a hassle signing onto the Internet every time you used your computer. We are use to signing in once for a 24hr. Period.

Review 54:99% of the staff was excellent. Had one grumpy desk clerk that probably didn't understand what I was saying or just didn't want to understand what I was trying to explain. The breakfast buffet is one of the best I've seen. Beautiful location once we found the hotel.

Review 55:Wonderful hotel is let down by very poor wifi in room's. SO important for travellers these days.

Review 56:Great hotel, staff, food and hostility. Very helpful ref motorcycle parking etc.

Review 57:The infuriating ringing of the church bells every hour through the night. This finished with a particularly long finale at 06:00!

Review 58:The location and warm ambience of the hotel.

Review 59:We were accommodated in an Annex Block away from the main historical hotel block. While this is not a big problem, it would be better if we could be informed about this when reservation was made.

Review 60:Excellent location at the center of the city, right next to the St Jacobs Cathedral, and 20 metres from the Tourist Information. Excellent restaurant at the hotel.

Review 61:Hotel's secure car park is a little too far away from the hotel for convenience, unloading and loading of luggage outside reception blocks the road and creates traffic problems.

Review 62:Location is excellent, restaurant service is fast and courteous.

Review 63:We stayed in the building across the way from the original hotel. This was to accommodate my husband who us very tall. He slept very well. The restaurant at the hotel had the best beef tenderloin with peppercorn sauce. The beef was so delicious and tender.

Review 64:- bed in our room is not convenient as it is not a king size bed but two separated beds. - it is a bit noisy in the morning because of thin wall I guess

Review 65:location, cleanliness, friendly staff

Review 66:Would like gluten-free bread to be available at breakfast. It has been at other (even budget) locations in Germany.

Review 67:Location and price were good. Front desk staff were extremely helpful upon arrival and good at checkout. The young girl helping with breakfast seemed a bit clueless, but was okay. The room was a bit dated and the furniture worn, but it was clean and comfortable.

Review 68:Price somehow does not match the rooms, service, and the location. You can find hotels in or closer to Salzburg with this price.

Review 69:The best thing about this place - not a hotel, was the Breakfast. It was so good. Especially the outside patio.

Review 70:Only con would be that we arrived on one of the hottest days of the summer, and the high temperatures were clearly a rarity in this area of Germany. The rooms were not equipped with any kind of ventilation for the heatwave, so we slept with every window wide open, which helped very little since there wasn't a whisper of wind throughout the night. In normal climate conditions, I'm sure this would never be an issue.

Review 71:Perfect location in the town center, right near the church and only steps away from the main square. The charm of the hotel begins on the outside, with the lovely traditional style of the building and genuine atmosphere which continues throughout the hotel. Staff is attentive and kind. Breakfast buffet was especially nice. Overall, exactly what you hope to find in a town like Rothenburg.

Review 72:Never go there! A monster managr is waiting to insult the guest when asking help! When I ask help the female manager on Wi-Fi problem, she said, "I gave you ID and pwd, so I can't help you" (But it was very easily fixed by her husband ) "I don't understand the people asking for Wi-Fi in the hotel" "If you need Wi-Fi, get out my hotel and get another hotel" (she knew the city was fully booked already!) During my 30 years of travel, that was the most humiliating and unimaginable situation (even including under development country)

Review 73:Hotel advertised WiFi inside the rooms. It did not work. Asked 3 of the staff to reset or repair system and they refused, saying it was technology and not their problem. EXTEME POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND RUDE!. Requested air conditioning, they tried to send me to their annex down the street with out air con. I had to prove to them that they agreed and advertised air con. There are several nicer hotels in the village with nicer staff... stay there!!

Review 74:location was inside village.

Review 75:Some restaurant servers were not very friendly. Everyone willing to help at front desk but really do not know how to do everything

Review 76:Great room great staff

Review 77:Wifi was very weak and intermittent on the top floor of our building where our room was located. The staff should have told us it was cheaper to use public parking since we would be gone during the day!

Review 78:Location and Restaurant.

Review 79:No air conditioner even when it was offered in the hotel services according to booking, not even a fan. Wifi just doesn't work. I had to walk around all the bedroom to get a connection and ended up in the bathroom with a very poor connection that lasted for three or four minutes. I was given individual beds when asked for a big one. The bedroom is not even close to what the picture showed of the one I had chosen. The woman that Was in the reception was not very nice. Lots of flies in the restaurant, and also in the bedroom as we had to sleep with the windows opened and which do not have protection for bugs or flies. The second building they have, which is where we were sent to, is not in front of the main one as advertised.

Review 80:The food was excellent. People in the restaurant were very helpful, nice, polite, happy and always served you with a smile. The decoration of the original building is amazing, as well as the building itself.

Review 81:As the window is small and facing to west, it was very dark in morning. Instead of town heart location, lots of tourist, cars and motorcycles were pass through the passage and made noise.

Review 82:Big bath tub and excellent breakfast. Room itself was also very clean and wide.

Review 83:I imagine that on days of 30C or over, the room could be very warm at night. OK on this occasion though (days were around 27C).

Review 84:Hotel is right in the middle of Rothenburg. Hotel has own parking or you can use city parking nearby, which has reasonable rates. Hot tub is great after a lot of walking. Enjoyed the sauna and steam room too. Room was quiet, although in a city with lots of tourists.

Review 85:We had a studio family room and were bumped up to a larger studio room. It had 2 beds, sleeping sofa, and sitting area. There was a nice view to a court yard and was close to the Marketplatz (village center). Breakfast was excellent!!!!

Review 86:Like most European hotels, no top sheet and no wash cloths.

Review 87:It's location in the center of town was Perfect and our room was quite spacious. The complimentary breakfast was wonderful.

Review 88:no air condition craeky room's floor

Review 89:kind and helpful personnel great food at hotel restaurant perfect location - just in the middle of a city, all interesting places in range of 3-5 minutes walk spacious room, liked the style of furniture

Review 90:We asked for an upgrade because the original room they gave us was absolutely not worth the price and in an annex building and it was smelling as a smoker room. Staff can be nicer. Price was high for a 3* hotel.

Review 91:The Superior room was great and with traditional design. Restaurant food was great (be prepared to pay at least 50 EUR for two people for dinner). Breakfast was good for a 3* hotel. Location is great in the center.

Review 92:We had a 'standard' room on the 3rd floor which was not the best we had stayed in, needed a little decoration and there were no curtains at the bathroom window so you could wave to the people passing by in the street 3 floors below while showering. also the only drink in the room was a bottle of water with a 2.5E price label on it.

Review 93:Hotel has a great location and nice facilities. Parking was provided in a private garage 2 blocks away The staff are most helpful and both the evening meal and the breakfast were excellent

Review 94:The staff, even though busy during summer season, were very accommodating. The temperatures were much higher than normal for Germany, but the rooms were well air-conditioned! I require gluten free meals and the selections given to me were very good; the breakfasts were especially good, with fresh gluten free bread fresh from the local bakery!

Review 95:We had to work a little while we were there. The only slight problem we had was that our quite new laptop would not connect up to the wifi - but as we had an older one with us that did this was not an issue.

Review 96:We loved this very comfortable, clean, efficiently run hotel in a great location.

Review 97:Nothing to do with the hotel, but Rothenburg is way to tourisy for me. It is best in the morning befor the huge tour groups get there.

Review 98:There wasn't anything fancy about this place - but it was a great location. We had dinner in the hotel's beer garden and that was good. Morning breakfast was the usual stuff but the coffee was great.

Review 99:Nothing!

Review 100:We booked the room at this hotel because it was the only high rated option on the booking.com. And we were not disappointed. Very good hotel with the windows facing cathedral. Very good restaurant.

Review 101:There were two beds jointly side by side, but one of them didnt have any covers on. So i found hair residues there.

Review 102:Superb location, amigable staff and beautifull hotel.

Review 103:It was a little noisy, but that was probably to be expected considering the central location of this property. Fortunately, things got pretty quiet around 10:30 PM.

Review 104:Fantastic, modern bathroom and plenty of bedroom space

Review 105:Water draining from sink backed up drain in bathroom floor. Smelled of sewage. Forgot to report it.

Review 106:Perfect location in Rorhenberg ob der Tauber. Parking available. Large room, well furnished.

Review 107:Would have liked a fan in the room, as they aren't equipped with AC. Requested a VAT form upon check out, was told they needed a days notice. Service standards a bit rigid.

Review 108:Ambiance and location

Review 109:Loved the location, great restaurant, nice clean room, good beds, delicious breakfast. Highly organized--with loading and unloading luggage and parking -- our car was parked in the hotel's private locked lot.

Review 110:location- very central the style of the building, both exterior and interior, all have lovely step back in time quality about it. It has a restaurant, so you dont have to walk far to get a meal

Review 111:This utterly charming old hotel is full of nooks and crannies, and bursting with character. Your buxom, smiling hostess manages everything from behind a splendid dirndl and offers not only clean & unique rooms, but a splendid breakfast, and vehicle parking. A real gem!

Review 112:Each time I needed to use my computer I had to re-input the wi-fi info. Breakfast was just okay, slow to replenish hot items.

Review 113:Location was perfect. Dinner in the restaurant was delicious . Our room was comfortable and clean.

Review 114:Wow we arrived as one on many parades past by in front of the hotel, how special it that? This hotel is convenient to all that happens in Rothenburg.

Review 115:We loved this charming, family-run hotel and restaurant. We had a clean, comfortable room with a spacious bathroom. The restaurant was attractive and good, as was the pub. It is right in the heart of the walled city, yet was easy to drive to. Staff was so helpful in parking our car in their secure lot.

Review 116:The host registrating us was most unfriendly speaking to us in a commanding tone. Wi fi was very frustrating to operate as we had to regularly insert a password to maintain service. And the password had to be changed each day.

Review 117:The location was great, facilities were very good at a reasonable price.

Review 118:Very very small room, couldn't even open the door properly when you entered the room. Bathroom very old and tired, cracks in the tiles etc. The shower hang so low I had to kneel to stand under it and I'm not very tall. A window in the shower so people could see you when you were in the shower. We had to stick one of the towels in the window. We had a problem with the WIFI and when we tried to get help the woman working there started to argue and told us that it was our devices that failed. She was very rude!

Review 119:Location. The beds were comfortable. Most of the staff were nice. The food was good. Breakfast was ok.

Review 120:nothing

Review 121:The room was fantastic with an ultramodern bathroom and a huge flat screen tv with over 50 channels to choose from. Located about 40 yards from St. Jacob's Church in the center of the old town, the friendly, helpful owners are always around making sure that the guests want for nothing. Fantastic restaurant (make reservations, it's popular) and a wonderful breakfast in the morning. I loved this place.

Review 122:The breakfast buffet was a little crowded, and food for later guests was not replenished.

Review 123:We stayed in a Junior Suite, and the room was nicely furnished, and very comfortable. The restaurant served a great menu, and the staff was very attentive. The location was right in the center of town, within walking distance to everything.

Review 124:Beautiful decorated hotel, cozy very historic. two emperors stayed here in mid 1500's! Built in 12th cent! great location. Good food, beautiful restaurant.

Review 125:Most staff were very friendly but one in particular was quite rude multiple times, and even though we had 6ppl in our booking, was quite resistant to giving me more than 1 wi-fi password (because one per booking, rather than per room). This policy is a bit silly I think...the other staff were very friendly though.

Review 126:Large rooms, beautiful exterior and internal decor, location is brilliant, restaurant had good service and quite nice food.

Review 127:Location of hotel was perfect, room was comfortable, bathroom was large with a wonderful shower, and restaurant in hotel served delicious traditional dinner. Excellent!!

Review 128:The beds weren't very comfortable.

Review 129:The location was perfect for the Christmas Markets and is really central in the old town. The hotel was very authentic and quaint.
