Reviews for Thermenvilla Gutenbrunn
Review 1:Nothing to complain
Review 2:Small double room is actually normal size compared with other hotels. Everything is clean, breakfast is very decent, in very nice high ceiling ballroom. Just to mention that famous guest in this villa was Ludwig van Beethoven...so the spirit of past is present in modern way. One of the greatest advantages of hotel is free entrance in very good thermal bath through covered corridor. It would be nice to refurbish some room doors and halls but considering all it is great value for money.
Review 3:Its simply one of the best places I ve been , just to mention- Ludvig Van Beethoven spent there a year in 1824 , as well as W.A.Mozart. Perfect hotel, and the thermal center is amazing. All you need for relaxation.( just take the slippers , otherwise you buy them there...) Breakfast is also divine;)
Review 4:Soubdproofing does not exist.
Review 5:The access to the spa, the antiques, the game room, the lobby, the history and the lovely breakfast. Go expecting to get very basic rooms and enjoy the spa services.
Review 6:No evening activities No restaurant/bar
Review 7:Friendly reception staff Historic Hotel Good breakfast Nice rooms Free and easy access to the Thermal Spa
Review 8:No telephone in the room. No bar. No other convenient opportunities to have dinner nearby. the need to wear a watch in order to enter the spa area is inconvevient.small elevator. and the worst: no bell boy or someone to help you with the heavy lugggage
Review 9:Very clean. Good breakfast. Close to the center.very unique, its an old palace which was rennovated and reconstructed
Review 10:a little bit old rooms and sanitary engineering
Review 11:Friendly staff, nice historical building, nice place, reach breakfast, clean linen, comfortable bad, nice veiw from the window, exit to the Termal SPA
Review 12:In our room the door creaked and the shower was not working. (I repaired it with insulating tape.)
Review 13:The receptionist is helpful and friendly. The children's room was wonderful. Thanks for the teddy bear!
Review 14:Nothing specific. If you like to sleep long, don`t forget to put Don`t Disturb sign on the door. In my case pretty lady came in watching me naked.)
Review 15:Close to airport and right near thermes for those who like them. City center is very small but wonderfull!
Review 16:The spa is opening only at 10 a.m., so you can not swim early in the morning.
Review 17:Historical building - special atmosphere, peaceful environment, silence, comfort, polite staff, excellent buffet breakfast (with low classical music:)), direct connection to the spa.
Review 18:Unfortunately, I have to say about the noise. Our neighbours watched TV from 6 a.m, and later some loud music (classical although) woke us up at 7 a.m. Thankfully, it happened only on the first night and on the second night we had a good sleep.
Review 19:The hotel is a great choice for stay in Baden, mainly because of quiet convenient location and direct unlimited access to the Romertherme. Spacious rooms (extremely spacious bathroom also), fast internet connection, typical European breakfast in beautiful baroque hall with classical music on background. Taking the access to the Thermen included in price, this classical 4 star hotel is truly value for money.
Review 20:the property could use a update, worn carpet, old fixtures, plumbing problems, over all it is time to spend some money to bring this otherwise wonderful place to stay up to .... where it should be
Review 21:the rooms are large, the staff is nice, the breakfast is excellent, and the access to the thermal spa is why we stayed, we loved it. also free parking and free wifi, make this place a great value for money
Review 22:The bed was too soft. There was no "do not disturb" sign for the door, which meant that someone cam ein and "helpfully" tidied my stuff which I really would have preferred to be left where it was. The ticketing system isn't like the UK - here, we put in where we want to go and it tells us how much it's going to cost, there, they expect you to know which zones you will need to pass though. That's not the fault of the hotel, I know, but it's still not easy for someone who doesn't speak Austrian German to navigate.
Review 23:Loved the staff, loved the location, loved the room. I really wanted to stay loneger - I booked 3 nights but was only able to stay for 1 night due to personal circumstances. Baden is lovely, it's dead easy to get into Vienna by tram if you want and dead cheap - depending on the time of day it'll cost you no more than 5 euro.
Review 24:reserved a room with 4 beds. due to a mistake by the hotel our booked and confirmed room was no more available by the time we arrived.. We ended up in a normal double room with 2 normal and 2 folding beds for 4 grown up persons - not what you expect when going to a hotel, let alone to such a nice one. They only charges 50% of the initial rate , but we rather had the room we booked with NORMAL BEDS , than spending a night in a camp-style folding beds with 4 people in a double room. No fridge/minibar in the room.
Review 25:very nice wellness possibilities at the bath - great selection of different types of water/pool/saunas/steam bath - unique building.
Review 26:The mattress on bed is too soft for my tastebut still comfortable
Review 27:The building is old style and its like go back in history. The breakfast is very good and the hot springs are amaxing. The location is 5 min walk to tram to vienna that takes 1 hour to the centerof vienna
Review 28:Mattress was like a giant flump, worried I might not be able to get out of it, but there again that's not necessarily a bad thing is it ;-)
Review 29:Loved the spa access, the hotel architecture, great breakfast.
Review 30:Policy of the hotel is very "cheap", not treating guests as they should be treated. Really not efficient staff during the breakfast. Not interested in their job. Had a feeling that I have payed too much for such a bad service. Lack of interest in what they are doing. Charging everything extra...will think twice if I will come back ever...
Review 31:The building itself is amazing. A full of history, although receptionist didn't have a clue about it. Connected to the spa.
Review 32:Everything was good.
Review 33:Very good location, close to old town and other main attractions, free access to amazing thermal baths, friendly staff, very good breakfast, only one hotel in Austria from 7 that we booked has good wifi in room. Clean and spacious rooms, game room, free library.
Review 34:There are no courtains on the windows. The mansion is rather shabby and full of noisy russians. No fridge. The spa (Römer Therme) is boring.
Review 35:Direct connection to the spa. The building used to be a glamorous and elegant villa.
Review 36:The mattress of the bed seems to me that it can not last much longer.
Review 37:The room was very nice and perfect for staying a couple of days (and not just one). Great ambiance in the hotel! Nice breakfast, visit to the Thermen is a must.
Review 38:The room has the "old" smell and the bed is too soft. Weak pressure of hot water in the shower.
Review 39:The hotel is in the old mansion with classic interior and has an eerie feeling into it late at night. You can go directly to the pools from your room and it is included in room price.
Review 40:Very good accommodation. The right price for what is offering. Hotel in classic style with rich and varied breakfast. Architecture with specific elements of the Austrian Empire and from the period in which classical music made Vienna the center of European culture. Tourists can feel the atmosphere of old times ...
Review 41:We booked this hotel, because it has a connection to the famous bath, the entrace fee is included . The Thermen were closed, no apologize from the hotel.
Review 42:The old style of the interior of the hotel, the whole authantic interior design.
Review 43:It was a hot day and 30 degrees in the room during the night without any air conditioning is not ideal for sleeping.
Review 44:Very stylish hotel in the middle of Baden. The breakfast is great and staff is very friendly.
Review 45:- additional costs of the stay for special offers (eg. fee for bathrobe and pool towel)
Review 46:- very high standard of a room (spacious, comfortable, furnished with antiques), - access to the thermal pool, - rich and high quality breakfast, - parking places onsite and free of charge, - good localization
Review 47:The room had two single beds placed next to one another. We had asked for a queen size bed. Truthfully, we did not complain about it, but would have preferred a single large bed. Otherwise, this was a wonderful place to stay.
Review 48:The hotel was clean, the staff very attentive and helpful, the grounds were very nice, and we liked the fact that it was connected to the Roman thermal baths. The lady at the check in desk was extremely helpful with everything and made excellent recommendations for restaurants and places to visit in Baden Bei Wien.
Review 49:No air conditioning but weather was a bit cooler this week. So no big issue for us but if over 30 C then would be a problem.
Review 50:Fantastic architecture large bedroom and bathroom. Connection to Spa facility and close to parks and town.
Review 51:Basically nothing - only missed refrigerator in the room.
Review 52:The villa is superb with charm of old times, classic music playing in the dining room and common areas. Breakfast is exceptional. Rooms are large and nicely decorated. Staff is really kind. Access to the Thermal Spa makes it great value (if you plan to use it) and the corridor is convenient, so you can walk in the bathrobe from your room to the thermal pool or to the sauna.
Review 53:Very nice location, a quiet place with historical background, beautiful furniture, friendly and always smiling staff, a direct corridor to Römertherme, very quiet place, you can smoke in front of the hotel and there is a table and chairs for you, there is a teddy bear waiting for you in the bed, close to the casino.
Review 54:First of all, the location was great- in the center of Baden. Second of all, the quality-price rate was very satisfying- it included the entrance an the Therms. We were a 4 people family and we stayed in a large and cozy apartment with a hint of luxury (if you go there check the atrium decorated with beautiful paintings and a piano). The breakfast was perfect; besides the local cuisine, there was something for every taste.
Review 55:Nothing significant. This is a historical building and it might be expected that it shows its age a bit. Wifi could be improved for better coverage of the rooms.
Review 56:A very good option for a stay near Vienna during travelling. Close to highways. Good location within a historical building. The best option is the direct access to the therme with indoors and outdoors pools. There are several private parking spaces around the hotel. Wifi included in the fee but slow and loosing connections in some areas.
Review 57:Wi Fi was slow and hard to access
Review 58:Great room on the first floor, spacious, breakfast was excellent with a wide choice. Free use of spa was a great bonus
Review 59:That's a fabulous place. We had a massive quadruple room which was actually an apartment with two rooms separated by a moving door. High ceilings, beautiful views, good breakfast. The spa was amazing.
Review 60:The staff was extremely helpful and very kind. Direct connection to the pool and spa was very benefitial. The breakfast was great, and even though we were late for it, the staff acted pleasant and let us enjoy our breakfast as if we were right on time. We have also enjoyed the "Austro-Hungarian" atmosphere that was almost touchable at the hotel, especially due to a fine selection of classic music (apparently a radio station, as we were informed). We shall surely return, with our children, as this time we stayed as a couple only.
Review 61:When I booked the property I requested two attached rooms (we are traveling with kids) since a room that holds 4 was not available. Upon check in we found out we had 2 separate rooms, and there was a previously booked hotel room inbetween ours. Rooms do not automatically lock when the door is closed. They have to be locked with a key. We were given an extra key to our kids' room. We shuffled family members to make it work, but felt it was worth mentioning for other families to be aware of.
Review 62:The hotel is a beautiful old mansion, and we enjoyed the decor in the lavish dining & sitting room. We were able to walk to dinner each night, and it was a 15 minute walk to the train station. Our 10 and 12 year old daughters especially enjoyed the attached bath house swimming pool which is conveniently open until 10pm. Staff was helpful in recommending places to eat & local things to do.
Review 63:-some kind of construction noise at morning. Weekend was insanely hot, so we had to keep windows open at nights. so noise was quite loud.
Review 64:-Location was good, near Baden town center -Huge rooms -Kind and helpful staff with good English skills
Review 65:Chap on reception at check in couldn't care less. Hotel felt a bit seedy, worn out stair carpets, cracked loo in bathroom(cleanliness rating).
Review 66:Space in room, free access to Thermal Baths, breakfast. Staff other than guy on check-in.
Review 67:No wifi availability in some rooms, no minibar, no facilities even for an evening drink. Only availability of drinks and snacks during breakfast.
Review 68:Access to Rommer Therme is the only reason of staying in this facility.
Review 69:One of the best places in Baden - access to the Spa area for free and in walking distance the great Imperial town of Baden. The building is of history as Beethoven lived there for a while.. Highly recommendable
Review 70:maybe strong cost cutting is a reason for not just good maintained details in rooms. Simple, hotel needs more Money to invest...
Review 71:very professional and helpful staff, perfect location, nice atmosphere, tasteful breakfast, beautiful common interior - historical hall
Review 72:Orange juice at breakfast had gone bad It was hot in the room and upon opening the window one was fully exposed to the noise of the construction site just opposite.
Review 73:In spite of several wifi routers in the building it was not operating in our room, and the staff could not help. No fridge, no air-condition (in 30 degree C!) Parts of the building (staircase) decidedly let down.
Review 74:It is a prestigious, traditional Schlosshotel (Beethoven stayed there!) with excellent location, good breakfast, clean, comfortable room, helpful, friendly staff, direct access to the spa - the only good reason to stay there.
Review 75:A fantastic spacious room, direct access to Therme, the Thermenvilla room rate includes Therme fee for the first day (both pool and sauna- ~24EUR), 2nd day cost is only 5EUR additionally. Great bathrobes and bath towels
Review 76:Nothing
Review 77:The place is great and very special. Breakfast was very good.its close to the city center,to the casino and it's has direct enter to the spa. We loved it very much
Review 78:We loved this place. This was our 4th time in Baden and this was the best hotel so far. We had 2 rooms for 3 nights during our stay, The rooms were large for European standards, clean, and the breakfast was very good, free parking and free wifi, included in the price of our booking. Our room rate included the thermal spa, with direct access from the hotel. It was a great value. We loved soaking in the thermal waters. Baden is wonderful place to visit, and is only a short distance from Vienna, we will be back again
Review 79:WI-FI SIGNAL IS VERY LOW. PC WORKS LIKE A HORSE, WHICH CLIMBES A MOUNTAIN.
Review 80:RECEPTIONISTS ARE VERY PROFFESSIONAL AND HELPFUL. THE HOTEL IS SITUATED IN THE PARK AND I HAVE HEARD THE BIRDS HOUR AFTER HOUR.
Review 81:Nothing else
Review 82:Very nice all what you can find in this hotel! Breakfast is unforgettable - smoked meet and salmon! Cup of coffe and place near window. Hotel staff is very friendly and help propose. Italian restoran in the hotel is very good. Fulvio - host of this restoran is real friendly man. Fulvio best wishes to you from Serge!!! Pool and sauna are including to hotel price. Next time - only Thermenvilla Gutenbrunn!
Review 83:Our daughter lost her plastic brace for spa the manager wanted to charge us with 200 eur . !!! Lucky for us that we found it in the room They should notify the guests that it should be kept under guard in the room's safe
Review 84:- hotel breakfast - very poor on vegetables and fruit, small variety of food
Review 85:- the location - very comfortable for those who come to Baden for Spa - the city - very nice small city with incredible atmosphere
Review 86:Only the bed was not that comfortable.
Review 87:Historic hotel in a good location. The access to the Spa next door is included. Very nice and helpfull staff. Large rooms with high ceilings. Antique all around. Great value.
Review 88:Really good staff. It was cold outside, but inside was warm and that's a big plus, in my opinion. You can go to the therms right from the hotel.
Review 89:You must pay €5 each for bathrobes even though we booked a package inc. The therme. Also €5 for a tea kettle. The breakfast selection is not so good and the shower in room 226 was not working properly. Not so bad but for a €100 a night could improve.
Review 90:The bed and room was very comfortable. The location is good to the town centre and casino.
Review 91:The room was dirty when we checked in.. Fortunately, receptionist was very nice and showed us other available rooms and offered us a mini bar for free. The property is nice but old and not renovated. Definitely this is not a four star hotel.
Review 92:The room was spacious with big windows. Breakfast was good. Staff is very welcoming.
Review 93:Instead of one double bed the room had two single beds moved together. These beds were moving away from each other and the matresses were too soft. Total sleeping experience was poor.
Review 94:Great old building with antique decorations inside. Awesome spa-center and friendly personnel
Review 95:Perfect location, very good conditio of building and facilities, comfortable, easy access to the spa, rich breakfast, generous service - everything was pefect
Review 96:I like the way they found out in order to preserve an old building and to put it in a distinct and new light. You enter in the villa and after few steps you feel as turning back in time. I recommend this place to all people that are looking for the glory and glamour of old times.
Review 97:We are a family with two young children having a suite of two rooms. It was winter but the rooms were heated and very pleasant. Comfortable rooms, very good location, and free access to spa.
Review 98:What a pitty that the hotel has no restaurant where we could take some dinner after the thermal bath day without going out in the city...
Review 99:Great location in the old part of the city. The hotel is directly connected to thermal bath, we just walked through in swimming suit from our room to the bath, which is excellent - accept the restaurant of the bath. That was a cheap, apetizer-horror, ugly whole...(sorry I can't find words for it), even a McDonalds would taste better... Breakfast at the hotel was excellent, surrounded with antique interior, playing music of Beethoven...wonderfull!
Review 100:Dustballs under the bed. 5€ extracharge for each bathrobe.
Review 101:Baden is an east-europien tourist destination today. The accomodation is'nt a grand hotel with running servants it likes better a tourist hotel. The only one communicable person sit between 7 am and 9 pm at the hoteldesk given the keys and taked the money. But. The site is nice and quiet, the renewed spacious building is beautiful the rooms and the furnitures are very larges. Covered passage is to the great spa opened until 10 pm. Common europien breakfast.
Review 102:Too many naked people in Spa, not common for our culture
Review 103:Perfect location, kind and helpful personell, spa included, big clean rooms with awesome view, very quite
Review 104:The location was great near the roses park (even though it was winter) and near the Roman Spa. I definitely recommend booking a room and including the free entrance to the spa. The breakfast was the usual 4 star bufet and was ok. We had a normal double room initially , a bit small if you are travelling with a small child. We also had the Deluxe room which was great, spacious and facing the park. The spa is kid friendly and particularly liked the outdoor thermal pool in the winter.
Review 105:I like hotels with a history and personality and this hotel has both. It has a passage way to the Römertherme. It is also very close to Baden's attractions - the Rose Garden, restaurants, shops, Casino, and historical buildings. It is very quiet. It has a large lounge area in the center of the hotel if you like to hang out or read a bit. The bathroom had a bidet. The location is right on the edge of a park, so you will get a good night's sleep. The breakfast buffet is not huge, but it had what I needed and the quality was good. The price that I got included use of the therme (spa) for the day however, you will be charged if you use the bathrobe & bath towels in the room. You need to remember to bring some cash with you if you want to eat or drink, because they expect you to pay when you leave the therme (it does not get added to your hotel bill). The massages are very reasonably priced in the therme. This is the only hotel I go to in Baden and I usually visit it 2 or 3 times a year. It is the perfect distance from Vienna - only 20 minutes by train or about an hour on the Badnerbahn.
Review 106:Some parts of the hotel (e.g. corridors) needs some refurbishment, but this is currently done by the new hotel management
Review 107:Free access the Baden-Therme with entrance to the entire spa facility directly from the hotel Old house with a lot of 19th century charme Very friendly personal Centrally located in Baden
Review 108:They need to refresh meny things. First to change carpet. It is very old and need to be change. Also curtains are not in same stil and they are very ugly. With old stylish furniture you need nice old stile curtains. Also hitting was very poor, it was rather cold in the room.
Review 109:Building, big rooms, hisoric place. It is nice to be in same bilding where lived Bethoven. Excellentte termal pools. Beautiful place for breakfast.
Review 110:- poor wifi connection
Review 111:- very nice, helpful and polite staff - great location - near to city center, connected to roman spa with corridor - beautiful Roman Spa, lot of saunas, everything very clean, thermal water - very interesting interior of the hotel
Review 112:Male manager very rude ,unwilling to give any information a tourist would need.Carpet stained ,linens poor quality, bed uncomfortable.
Review 113:Room was large ,big balcony ,nice common areas, close to tram to Vienna.
Review 114:No tea/coffee set. Bad Wi-fi in rooms. Old furniture.
Review 115:Good location (just five minutes to tram to Vienna), it takes 40 minutes and 45€ to get Schwehat airport. Great swimming pools for adults and children.
Review 116:It's an amazing hotel, very good location for both walking around Baden and for day trips to Vienna. The personnel is very friendly and helpful, and they have best croissants with honey for breakfast. There is no dinner restaurant in the hotel, but in the whole city of Baden there are tonns of cafes and restaurants. Oh,and the nature around the hotel is perfect for relaxation. There is a rose garden, park,it's not too far from old fortress ruins, and at the same time iit's only 5 min walk to the main square and the tram station (to go to Vienna).
Review 117:Very friendly and relaxed hotel, with a touch of luxury, loads of period details and antique style furnishings. The hotel may not look like a castle from the outside, but parts of the interior definitely do. Not at least the very impressive breakfast room, where you have the feeling of being on a guided tour in a historic castle. The direct access to the town spa also adds to the luxurious feeling. Staff is very friendly and down to earth. The rooms – at least the standard rooms - are maybe slightly more basic than the rest of the hotels, but spacious, comfortable and quiet. You get a very good value in this hotel. And onsite parking is also free of charge. We highly recommend this hotel.
Review 118:Breakfast was limited and not enough staff. Can get eggs but there is no way to know without asking. Decorations in rooms are tired and in need of refurbishment.
Review 119:Big rooms Walking distance to center Close to the hot springs Convenient Parking
Review 120:Breakfast offering was fair, but a bit more buffet choice would be better (e.g. vegetables).
Review 121:Spacious room, quiet atmosphere of hotel near park, excellent spa/wellness facities annex to hotel (Romer Therme).
Review 122:uncomfortable bed postponed refurbishment of furniture and finishes
Review 123:helpful staff proximity of bath and city center easy parking green neigbourhood
Review 124:it would have been good to have dinner in the evening; service stops quite early
Review 125:Beautiful, cultured ambience, superb location overlooking a lovely park and with views from the rooms over Baden and the Helenental; spacious comfortable attractively furnished bedrooms with wine/mineral water and light snacks available; helpful, friendly staff; historic building, associated with Beethoven; lovely galleried ballroom with grand piano; attractive restaurant with terrace; ample, attractive relaxation space
Review 126:Lack of information: nowhere in the description of the hotel was it mentioned that the Römertherme will be closed during our staying for maintenance services (almost all August closed). Breakfast: very poor and not varied at all. Basic food like eggs where only received if one would ask if they are available. Personnel: Reception clerk not very communicative and given that we asked specifically about access to the therms, he did not present us any other alternatives. Lacking personal touch, which one would expect when on holiday. Also, at the end of our stay, after paying for the accommodation, no interest was shown towards how did we feel regarding our stay at the hotel or if we have any recommendation. Room information: no brochures available in the rooms regarding the facilities offered by the hotel or the important points to visit in the town. Room cleanliness: towels&bad sheets were not changed at all during our stay (5 nights stay). Overall, did the accommodation and services offered did not raise up to the number of stars.
Review 127:Location: very close to most important locations to visit from Baden WiFi: very good quality Parking: free and available places in front of the hotel. Breakfast personnel: pleasant and attentive young man who was serving.
Review 128:I found the key to my door very frustrating as I had to jiggle it to make it work. The shower head swivels around. I would have like to have a jug to make tea, milo or coffee after 9pm at night but couldn't. Once the café closes that is it. They had beautiful Bronnley soap washers but the containers were way to solid for a dainty person being a petite lady in my sixties. I had to squeeze the container with both hands and let the soap drop to a foot sticking out to wipe up the soap to wash myself. I think in a High Styled Hotel this should be made easier. A fan in the room would be nice as it was so hot in August and even with the window open it was hard to sleep. It could be available and left in one of the cupboards in the wardrobes. Late night guests should be reminded that after 10 pm those smoking outside should not have loud conversations, the same goes for early in the morning at 6.30am of those leaving. I was on a holiday and needed rest.
Review 129:I loved the whole building which is kept to such a high standard and is very elegantly set down a long drive with a Nature Walk to Park one side and a short walk to the shops and Restaurants to the other. Plenty of free parking. Very spacious room. I just loved that . It was reasonably close by car to Wien yet out of the city and should have been quiet. Pity about the rebuilding of the property down the same drive.
Review 130:The lack of personal for such a big space gives the hotel a little air of decay and solitude.
Review 131:This is an antique mansion, the rooms are amazingly big and the space is quite spectacular. Agnes the reception girl was very helpful and kind.
The Fine Print
