The traditional, family-run Hotel Goldener Ochs offers a central location in the spa town of Bad Ischl, a large spa area, and free WiFi access. Some of the spacious rooms offer romantic views of the Traun River.
Opened in 1791, the Goldener Ochs has hosted many famous personalities, including the composer Franz Léhar, who used to dine in the hotel restaurant “Léhar-Stuben”, which is famous for its classic cuisine.
The spa area features massages (at an additional cost), Kneipp baths, a sauna and a fitness studio, as well as Austria’s only salt graduator and a relaxation room with views of the Esplanade.

Review 1：We were told the restaurant was open from 7 to 23 . On wednesday and thursdays however is "Ruhetag".in the evening a smaller card. BUT WE WERE NOT INFORMED ABOUT THAT!!!

Review 3：Unclear as to which of 3 doors led to reception. Confusing hot water dispenser in restaurant, turns out that the teapot on top is non-functional.

Review 14：A very lovely hotel in Bad Ischl, with super friendly staff, always patient with all my questions. Bad Ischl is not a big town. But this hotel is definitely well located, walking distance to everywhere, sit over the river and quite. Nice, clean and spacious rooms. I'll definitely choose here if I come to town next time

Review 16：WIFI signal is weak maybe because we stayed in the last room on the second floor; Toilet would be better if it becomes bigger; Garage could also be bigger, which now requires some skills to drive in and out.

Review 17：Hospitable staffs. Clean tower, sheet, bed, tube. Good quality furniture and has its own style. Nice breakfast, hot coffee and warm food. I would definitely come back again.

Review 38：The garage is a bit tight and requires a bit of maneuvring but it is the centre of historic town so this is understandable.

Review 39：Comfortable hotel in the center of the beautiful spa town Bad Ischl. Personnel was extremely nice and helpful, food in the restaurant excellent (even the menu option) - definitely recommend you to take as dessert pistacchio-strawberry ice-cream. Delicious! :) Great spa amenities.

Review 43：This was one of the more expensive hotels we stayed at during our near 2-week holiday in Austria. We did not find it extraordinary enough to justify the cost. We were disappointed that entering the spa area required special slippers which were an additional cost. Had we known this ahead of time, we would have brought our own. Also, in this day and age WiFi should be free (or already included in the room rate) rather than an extra charge. Since we were staying only 1 night, it was not a big deal to us. Lastly, although no fault of the hotel, the entire center of town was under road construction when we visited, which made arriving to the hotel a challenge.

Review 44：Our double room was spacious and comfortable; the hotel's lounge seating areas gave it an extra cozy touch.

Review 45：Unfortunately electricity went off in the whole town at about 23.30 and there was no light in the hotel most of the night. Also the room was on the noisier side of the hotel where truck was unloading for about an hour in the middle of the night.

Review 46：The hotel has its own spa and provides free bathrobes. The room looks perfect with a luxury bathroom. The breakfast was superb with lactose free butter and honeycomb available. Parking and internet also free.
